Personally I dislike how a lot of the difficulty in Devil May Cry doesn't really come from having to juggle more things at the same time and understand how more things work together, it comes from tighter timing windows and more reliable inputs for something you already know you have to do.
True, it's still difficulty. But it's the type of difficulty where you aren't really learning or understanding anything new.
