yeah they were kind of samey and the HP and damage bloat the enemies got in the lower levels was annoying. i still do them every time i play the game though. you can tell wanted to do a lot more with them but, as usual, they didn't have enough time.

The idea has potential I think. Adding more varied room tilesets would be a good start. I'm a sucker for randomized dungeons though, I wish you could choose between the root chalices and the pre-set ones instead of having to go through the pre-set ones to get the root chalices.

Yeah they're fucking shit and I hate needing to do them to get my weapon gemmed up full autismo mode.

There were about 2 chalices too many.

they're fun if you have friends to play through depth 5 dungeons with you

I think it's cool that there are some enemies and rooms that are so rare that people didn't know about them for years.

Can't say I disagree.
Holds the game back.

Better than spiderman side quests

depth 5 frc coop is legitimately fun, the problem is the boring-ass fixed chalices you have to do every playthrough

Good thing they're completely optional. There's little reason to play them.

agree, this alone is an aspect that really destroys a perfectly good game.

Reminds me of Dragon age being ruined with the fade gayness.

It's an old school D&D megadungeon, it's not meant for the ADHD. Its awesome and more games should have them.

Nobody cares about your meme game

>story taht's all just a dream
>boss betrays you and revealed as the antagonist (wow didn't see that coming)
>guns yet can't increase amount of ammo you can hold by a decent amount
>can't dual weild guns
>doesn't allow you to play like a tps yet includes guns
>aliens out of nowhere

Agreed. Sucks some more unique bosses were tied to them

True but I appreciated the attempt and hope that From will revisit them someday

>Made a chalice dungeon allowing me to get 400000 echoes in under a minute from the first room of the first layer
>never shared it with the community

one of my biggest regrets.

I appreciated it existing. I put maybe 10 hours in it

>aliens out of nowhere
Read Lovecraft

definitely a shortcoming of the game. it's like they had an idea and didn't know how to execute it.

There's no antagonist in BB. Gherman and the old hunters fucked the world up but they're not villains.

Man, it needed so much more effort put into it to be good but it obviously was just something some interns threw together to add length to the game.

Gehrman doesn’t betray you, you’ve got it backwards. YOU betray HIM.

How?

I enjoy going through the dungeons with other hunters. That at least makes them pretty fun especially when you encounter something strange.

How? I only spoke to him twice before the end of the game, I don't even know what his motivations were.

they're shit but not so boring when you coop, especially with friends.

My only problems with Bloodborne was that chalice was lame and the game didn't have enough spooky shit in it.

Nah, we have no loyalty to each other. He tries to subdue a belligerent and gets his long needed retirement is all.

As most have said they were pretty stale and only incentive was gem farming or first play through for the extra bosses.

Would have been more fun if they aimed them more at coop if coop wasnt so aids. Souls multiplayer is always lag shit but even getting a game was even more convoluted in bloodbourne.

I "understand" dropping from the session upon death so you cant just spam a boss down but how hard would it have been for before a boss battle just to charge the usual souls and insight and respawn at the lantern

Suck a fart OP. Chalices were fucking great.

>water is wet, discuss

I'm just puzzled as to why so many enemies only appeared in the chalice dungeons which most players (me included) don't even give a shit about.

They should've been added to the main game to spice up the enemy variety.

On my Arcane Build, I decided to finally clear out all the Chalice Dungeons and then I hit Defiled Amygdala. Lord, those threads back in 2015 or whatever weren't fucking around because no matter what I did that boss felt impossible. I never manged to beat Amy, because that whole situation was just terrible.

On topic though, the Dungeons seemed like a series of rejected ideas that were just thrown in. Like the Painted World in DS1.

2 seperate hunters in the first room. I would equip 2 runes that give extra echoes on a visceral kill and a 3rd rune that just gives more echoes in general. all would be the Highest level runes you could acquire.

Would sneak up behind each hunter and kill them within 2 shots, each time giving just over 200,000 echoes each. Took under a minute all up.

>can't use them to fight humanoid bosses like Maria, Gascoigne, or the Crow
>tileset is copypaste brown corridors instead of having the option to use the goat areas of the actual game with different enemies/times of day/treasures, since they're already designed to lead up to a boss

Based

Did Bloodborne ever get a PS4pro patch?
Kinda want to go back to it but it ran like ass back on regular PS4 and I don't want to deal with that again.

how did you manage to play the game and get everything wrong

most, if not all enemies in the chalice dungeons are only located in very specific rooms. They don't have to put a lot of effort into testing that way since many of the chalice dungeon enemies behave differently from other enemies.

no

>Did Bloodborne ever get a PS4pro patch?
no, nothing

>Aliens out of nowhere
God, what a way to out yourself as a fucking pleb

>"people" still taking this bait
sigh

Idiot.
Gehrman has dialogue that the player can listen to. From what the player can eavesdrop, he wants out of the Dream, it's torturing him, and desperately cries for Laurence and Wilhelm to help him. And yet, he doesn't want you to suffer the same fate, to be bound to the Dream forever. So him decapitating you was an act of mercy, him trying to kill you was an act of mercy. Even one of his creations is called the Blades of Mercy. He is a merciful man.

boost mode smoothes some framerate dips

still has an iffy framerate and shitty load times so it's not as good as a patch

>
It's bait copypasta, newfriends.

I'm a slut for Souls-style gameplay and desu I probably played the chalices more than the main game. I think it's very clear they were supposed to be a much bigger part of the whole BB experience but the tedious progression and repetitive layouts put a damper on the whole thing.

I really hope FROM gives them a proper shake in another game. Just finding a unique enemy every now and then (even if it's not particularly powerful or special) just really shows the level of detail I'd want out of a random dungeon crawler. The formula is very close to being good.

Attached: Labyrinth_Mole_Hind.jpg (1920x1080, 307K)

If they just unlocked the framerate, the frame pacing issues would be gone and that's all I ask.

I want another DLC bros.
This is why I hate dungeons. I shouldn't need to save scum to get a gem I want without needing to clear multiple floors to kill the boss again.
Save editing

It just needed better multiplayer or better loot to find. I hate to say it but some form of randomized weaponry in addition to the randomized gems might be the trick.

>sour grapes
to back to sekiro you fucking loser, oh wait, it has to replayability

But painted world was one of the first levels designed for Dark Souls and is among the best areas in the series.

>I want another DLC bros.
Who doesn't?

Attached: maria_cry.png (281x342, 117K)

There's that one witch dude

>go to NG+
>lose all your chalices
No way I'm ever fucking doing all that again, biggest flaw by far

>lose all your chalices
Nope.

They probably should've saved it for a game like Dark Souls. Way more weapon / armor possibilities as loot and the idea of dungeon crawling would make a lot more sense.

>story taht's all just a dream
Dreams in this context are more like planes of existence, often constructed by a Great One. They are as real as the plane of existence you currently occupy, which to you is the "waking world" but may be a dream to an entity native to another plane.
>boss betrays you and revealed as the antagonist (wow didn't see that coming)
Not an antagonist, although a flawed individual wracked with guilt. His "killing" of you is a mercy, freeing you from your contract and ensuring you won't succumb to the Hunter's Nightmare or bloodlust, returning you to your native plane of existence.
>guns yet can't increase amount of ammo you can hold by a decent amount
Viscerals restore ammo with the appropriate runes. Blood tap for 5 bullets and rally the health back, and use +vial (instead of +bullet) runes.
>can't dual weild guns
Literally just flat out wrong. Reiterpallasch.
>doesn't allow you to play like a tps yet includes guns
Now I'm thinking you're a troll.
>aliens out of nowhere
Not aliens in the traditional sense, more like extraplanar entities. They were alluded to from pretty early on, at least as early on as the weird ass Amygdala statues in Cathedral ward.

They were fun but reminder data mining found that they werent random and there were about 2200 dungeons all up AT MOST because the game had a retarded way of making sure you didnt get dupe unique items

bloodborne-wiki.com/2018/02/isz-glitch.html?m=1
>map pool of 2200
>you pick up a unique item, which doesn't even have to be rare (runes, gems and weapons with differnt slots)
>game cant just not spawn that item again cause maps are all preset
>it instead remove all presets with that item in it.
>the more you play the less chance you have of getting a unique map
>isz chalice does this so bad you can lock your character into a pool of only 32 maps for that chalice

The reason that new and rare maps and monsters are "generating" now is cause autists who know this are dungeon crawling with out picking up items

It happened to me. I can't remember why, but I had to do NG+ on that file specifically for some trophy.

Noooo! Bloodborne is based and perfect.

They weren't because have new enemies, bosses, items and difficulties.

Not even kill, you wake up in Yharnam just in time for the sunrise. He just kicked you out of a dream like you did to Micolash, though it seems your physical body was somewhere safe while Micolash's died

>they never patched the Isz chalice glitch
But y tho?

Attached: ..Plain-Doll.jpg (750x800, 537K)

The game itself is a masterpiece and I think the chalice dungeon were just a "why not put that in there too?" kind of feature.
The campaign doesn't depend on the dungerons. People who just enjoy the combat mechanics can have a go at high lvl mobs and most importantly NPC hunters in a random map and don't have to replay the same parts of the SP maps over and over.

Couldn't secure funds to fix something in a feature that people don't like much. They even said they looked at expanding chalices in TOH but went against it for various reasons.

>tfw ywn get the Great One Beast or alternate Moon Presence in another DLC
youtube.com/watch?v=emwjPX90I4U

Too bad the isz dungeons were glitched and you could only see the same 32 variations out of the 200 pool that’s possible

sounds like a bug. You can safely go into NG+ and it shouldn't even clear out the chalices you have already got set up.

I am 100% completely serious when I say that Bloodborne is the greatest game ever made and Chalice Dungeons are fucking gay. They get boring after the first go and restricting gems to this, without having an easy way to retry grind bosses, is double gay. It is literally the only flaw in an otherwise perfect game.
I'd kill for an update that does anything to improve them.

Only patricians see it this way

Thread is full of nothing but plebs

>of a dream
The Dream.
Essentially, Nightmares or Dreams are physical planes of existence, as you clearly pick items from these worlds and come back down into to the Waking World, i.e. Yharnam. They are reached by the consciousness. It's a concept that was explored in one of Lovecraft's works, "Polaris", where you enter a real world through dreams. Yharnam is a plane of existence for humans. Nightmares are where the consciousness of Great Ones survive. BB gives it another twist: these planes are stacked, with the lowest being the chalice dungeons below the Waking World, and the highest being the Nightmare of Mensis.

The fishing hamlet was proof that the setting could easily be wildly different and still work.
Aztec, Arabian, colonial, wild west, china/feudal japan, all with werewolves and ayys
Future tech could probably more easily deal with monsters though, so scifiborne might not work

Meh, grinding up to 120 or 145 isn't really that hard with standard false depth dungeons.

Chalice dungeons on the surface are OK. ‘Random dungeons in a Souls game’, alright, fine, bunch of boringfuck square boxes; no one is surprised. It’s putting an awkward progression through “crafting levels” that also gates insanely powerful gems.

It makes you really appreciate Souls level design way more.

It's true, but the concept is neat
I'd actually be really interested in a game entirely focused around progressively "deeper" procedurally generated dungeons a la DCSS.
The main problem is that you have to put in significantly more effort making content than you would for a normal game, because in order for the procedural generation to feel varied and not just like it's dropping premade setpieces in randomized orders you need ~10x as much content as a player will see in a single playthrough.

It could be really cool if it was done right though. Have the multiplayer like BB where your "team" you equip is what determines who you're allied or enemies with, but instead of invasions/summoning just randomly matchmake people into each others games. Plot based around everyone being explorers delving this mysterious dungeon where the walls between realities are wearing thin, hunting for unimaginable riches, braving equally unimaginable dangers, and you don't know whether the light around the next corner is a friendly player you'll team up with, an enemy who will try to murder you on sight or a horrifying monster using the light to lure you into a trap.
With enough care put into the generation and enough variation in different kinds of levels it can generate I could see it being an easy thousand hour game.

Why does everyone over look the fact that you pop out at the top of the clocktower yet when you look at it from below there is nothing there? Such a big oversight comparable to the iron keep

Attached: 1462517382131.png (623x567, 540K)

Try again.

>Aztec
Shulva was the best out of DS2, like the rest of the game doesn’t even compare.

Attached: 063EAF8D-16DB-407B-8CC4-9C055CC2FE84.jpg (1600x900, 169K)

Dreamlands can be accessed through portals. The clockface is one.

how they're totally optional?
now any bad content weighs poorly on a game. but it far from holds the game back

The entire game was boring and shit.

Nah, it's a better game than any souls.

Because BB sets the precedent for being a secret dream world you single digit IQ mong. There is a world of difference between going through a clock portal and walking through a straight gray corridor that leads you below sea level for no discernable reason whatsoever.

Well, I mean you won't get it in a dlc but you can still fight them ya know. Just get the chalice dungeon password and get ready to be analy raped though.

Going deeper into an ancient tomb labrynth is cool as shit. Should have made the entrance in Burgerworth where that trap door is and just designed them better.

Enjoy the false depths.

Where were you when we had incessant souls rank threads?
