Yeah, it's weird that it requires you to have a specific combat skill to be able to do it. Typically these quests depend on nothing but key items you have. That and the serpent fruits really screwed up with me, I don't think it's the sort of thing I've ever seen happen in these games.

Yeah it seems like the game has a number of anemic mechanics. Immortality severing, red-eyes, dragonrot, combat arts in general, the immortal guy says the shrine attracts people and only one NPC actually moves in, NPC quests all reward you with consumables... I hope they make a beefy DLC or sequel that actual uses the mechanics.

Bloodborne has comparatively less going on but what it has is more thought out or at least appears to be, with the main place NPCs after the first required boss changing throughout the game and the insight mechanic making a fair amount of impact on how you view the world. After playing Sekiro a few times while I like the combat more as an overall game I like BB more still but BB has the credit of having tons of Sony money pushing it.

The Ogres look and play like something out of Bloodborne, which surprises me since they showed the ogre off tons in early development. It fights unlike anything else in the game and has a lot of bullshit attacks due to it likely being a lazily repurposed cut asset, yet they gave it a fucking ton of promotion pre release and it gets virtually zero lore or relevance in the final product.

I don’t expect sequels because Miyazaki dislikes making them and Sekiro was developed entirely afrom themselves this time so they had no contractual obligations, so I can see him making this game’s DLC Set after the main story. The madman might even make it require Return ending to access.

why is laurence in the game?

I like it. It let's you set the difficulty for yourself and dial it back if it becomes too much for some players and hampers their experience. I found I didn't need to farm for item drops at all in this game (except for fulminated mercury) to get all the prosthetic upgrades, so the bonus from demon's bell isn't all that game breaking enough for me to say it really makes the game easier even if you abuse it.
