After spending my whole life wishing i could afford a decent PC i finally get the opportunity to do so

>after spending my whole life wishing i could afford a decent PC i finally get the opportunity to do so
>works fabulously, all the games i came to own but couldn't run finally opened up to me
>two weeks of bliss
>for some reason the fans crank up to 4700 rpm and like to just stay there despite cpu temps sitting under 30
>does this on the desktop with nothing running but standard background shit
>try a cooling stand thing with big fans, doesn't help
>cpu usage at just under 1% and thats entirely task manager and system processes required to keep it functioning
>on hour 3 of troubleshooting
>can't stomach the idea of going through any kind of return process
why must everything always return to misery

pm’d the fix :)

Use Speccy, find if the CPU is overheating.

Did you make sure to plug the fans into their proper headers

Nothing to see here.

So what did your 3 hours of troubleshooting consist of exactly?

>first one isn't grayed out

Get a CPU overclock utility for your CPU and manually set fan speeds, can also be done through the BIOS on some boards.

It happens. If you're actually on a laptop laptops overheat at the drop of a hat, and fans kick up to compensate. Even on desktops unless you set c urves manually, something so simple as the automatic scanning or windows update checking will kick your fans up.

>laptop
You're going to deal with fan issues forever.
Laptops are for portable browsing, work and bedside porncasting.
It's always best to get a desktop for playing anything.

some fans just do that, I know I have that problem with my old custom build's cpu fan running full speed all the time, I still haven't found a fix, but it doesn't seem to be destroying it, either.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>bought a laptop for games
Some advice from a professional, laptops are utility devices.
Return it, get a desktop, get a cheap laptop later down the line for porn/browsing/work, you don't need to spend more than $500 on it.
You should only really play low end titles on a laptop to kill time, kinda like a phone but a lot less shit.
