Sekiro is fun but people hailing the combat system as some revolutionary thing are over exaggerating. It’s great, but the lack of skill points/playstyles/gear really didn’t do it for me, and the bosses are so easily cheesable that the “git gud” meme is literally just that, a meme.
And yeah, jumping around is funnfor exploration but without gear/weapons to find you’re literally just jumping around for Gaachins Sugar and fistfuls of ash. It’s not compelling.
Also the lore is the weakest flat out compared to Bloodeborne or Dark Souls 3.
Knights in horrific landscapes and Lovecraft Victorian England are just way more compelling than Japan.
Even the dragon was kind of disappointing.
Sekiro is good but I’ll probably never go back to it, meanwhile I’m about to buy Dark Souls remastered because I miss it
How fucking triggered do you spergs get over Sekiro holy shit
Matthew Sullivan
I agree with a lot of your points, but I would still prefer they make new things and try new stories rather than just remake dark souls over and over forever.
dark souls had good atmosphere up until sens fortress. the gameplay is boring and repetitive. sekiro's atmosphere is about on par with the second half of dark souls and the gameplay is much more engaging.

REEEEEEEEE DONT SAY ANYTGING BAD ABOUT SEKIRO SENPAI REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Nathan Long
Respectable post. I agree with most of what you said. Not every souls/BB fag likes sekiro (including myself). And that's just fine. But they should experiment regardless, though. Creative stagnation kills franchises.
what made you think your opinion was worth sharing? better question do you think you have any level of mastery over the english language? whens the last time youve illustrated a real point?
weird, weird post. i dont even care about sekiro.
Jonathan Russell
How would the Hunter fare against the likes of Isshin and Genchiro?
>Sekiro and Dark Souls are part of the same series Fuck off
Xavier Thomas
Play Shadow Tower, faggot
Ian Morgan
>not King's Field Kino Field 4 should be mandatory
Noah Brooks
>How fucking triggered do you spergs get over Sekiro holy shit Not as much as you
Owen Watson
King's Field 4 is entry level. It's for fags who want to play something pre-Souls, but can't man up to play the creme de la creme (King's Field 1-2, Shadow Tower). 4 is at least better than 3, I'll give you that
Ethan Allen
>Sekiro is fun >Sekiro is good
Where in the OP is anyone triggered you fucking moron
Matthew Flores
All those games are dumbed down PC dungeon crawlers with the shittiest controls known to man You're not impressing anyone by playing literal garbage
Matthew Peterson
>Hey guys D A R K S O U L S 3 Can we stop pretending dark souls 3 isn't the worst modern from soft game and had any redeemable traits.
Combat was never the steries' strongpoint. It's always been relatively simple and not particularly deep.
Carter Cruz
cool insights bro you should start blogging

that's DaS2

Weapon arts were an OK idea. Less of a mess than power stancing.

Don't be fooled. Sekiro is normalfag actionshit. As of right now, it is on track to sell more than any Souls game in existence. It's Cool Gamer Teen's first exposure to le hard game. The audience that buys Assassin's Creed and Far Cry are getting into Sekiro.
Because of this, the game is not even worth criticizing. You can talk about the mediocre stealth, the poor exploration, weak enemy variety, or questionable boss designs. They don't care. All that matters is that parroting 'git gud' and epic gamer bragging rights. As long as a casual somewhere isn't enjoying it, then it must be good. Which is ironic, in a way, considering how streamlined and accessible this game really is compared to FROM's previous games
nice blog bet you went back to dark souls right after and went "oh right, that's why I didn't like this that much"
Nathan Morales
Ds2 had decent art direction that differed from ds1, unqiue mechanics, quality of life improvements, etc. What did ds3 do? >haha remember Bloodborne >haha remember ds1 >haha remember demons souls
Joseph Davis
Haven't played Sekiro, probably gonna buy it soon But damn lads do I want to return to those comfy times of Dark Souls 1. Small community, actually quality content on YouTube, comfy late night sparring with people from here I fucking remember when all these YouTubers and streamers were small as fuck and you could easily invade them/fight them anywhere and now they have like 300k subscribers and upload Reddit tier videos with memes from Instagram. All the discussions about lore and daily OC on here. Posting builds and sharing tips.
Even when dark souls 2 came out it was comfy as fuck. Looking back it's the worst souls game but I still poured hundreds of hours into it and had loads of fun with it. The best thing about it was the build variety, I could boot it up right now and make something I haven't ever made before. I remember my first playthrough which was supposed to be a quality build, but then I got some hexes and the edgy hexer's hood and respeccd into a hex build with Dark Pursuer's Greatsword. It was probably shitty as fuck but I had a fucking blast swinging my enormous enchanted chunk of steel.
according to Miyazaki, either a battle royale or a more narrative-driven game
Nathaniel Carter
People who think Sekiro combat is revolutionary never played Darksiders
Jonathan Cox
I agree. I dropped it like 20 minutes into NG+ because there's literally no more character progression possible apart from like 2 remaining prosthetic upgrades. The combat isn't any more complex than souls games either. They're equally challenging games, just in slightly different ways.
Lincoln Brooks
I am pretty sure the "dark fantasy RPG" they have been working on since like 2017 is a next-gen launch title so we will probably see that next year around E3.
The fuck are you talking about, Dark Souls was the beginning of the end. It was mainstream as fuck even at launch and had a terrible community compared to Demon's
Joseph Young
Tanimura was missing from Sekiro credits, it's very likely that game is a Tanimura project.
Jack Martinez
It'll be a Souls-like directed by Tanimura, mark my words.
Ethan Phillips
agreed. the game is new, so the zoomers are all hyped up and so any criticism of their new game of the year gets them all upset (see resident evil 2). i liked sekiro a lot, but it's definitely not better than dark souls III in terms of world building and lore.
Robert Allen
DS2 had broken mechanics, shitty visuals with broken lighting to top and retarded game design choices. DS3 is uninspired and shallow but at least is functional at what it is.
Noah Peterson
sekiro mostly throws the RPG stuff out the window to focus purely on combat and the levels are designed like three-act plays with a setup, confrontation, and resolution with different ways to get through the set piece with varying amounts of difficulty you don't have to worry about fucking up your build, or fighting other people online, or finding/missing out on specific equips it plays like an arcade game, you just pop in and try to beat the game, cash out your high score on consumables that make the journey easier but don't mean much in the long run I find it comfy but for a completely different reason than I did souls and bb
I agree in regards to Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1. For some reason 2 and 3 just couldn't capture the magic at all for me and I was disappointed by both.
Henry Sanchez
>it plays like an arcade game, you just pop in and try to beat the game Sounds like exactly what I need, I was considering getting DMC5 for that exact reason.
Carson Walker
That's actually what I like about it, there aren't really any other distractions so you can just focus on gitting gud. As a bonus, the combat is really satisfying once you do git gud.
Zachary Long
Remember that Tanimura was given a gigantic mess to fix when he was put onto DS2. He might actually make a good game if he's on board from the start. Maybe.
David Sanders
I'm late to Bloodborne. Played DeS, DaS, and DaS2 on the PS3 and loved them to death but when I finally got my PS4 last year, I accidentally wiped it and lost my BB save while attempting to transfer data from a friend's console. I had just beaten Rom then.
I don't want to get spoiled but how far along was I into the game? I'm planning to beat BB and DaS3 before playing Sekiro (which I already bought as well).
Alexander Lee
You have 2 other optional areas after that, but on the designated path you still have a bit more to go. With DLC, it'll obviously be longer.
