Am I asking for too much? I just want a jrpg that has at least a few of these. >Dialogue choices that actually matter >Different ways to deal with encounters (stealth, persuasion) >Skills that effect things outside of combat >Stealing from, killing NPCs >Different story paths and endings, not just >Combat that feels natural and part of the exploration, story and isn't just detatched >Side quests with actual stories behind them, not just random fetch quests
I love rpgs in general and it's not like I have a grudge against Japan. I love anime and sexy anime girls, love japanese literature and film. Love games like Shadow of the Colossus or Ico, I just want a good rpg from Japan.
I know they have a different "focus". But you can still have a great main story and have the things I mentioned above.
>Dialogue choices that actually matter >Different ways to deal with encounters (stealth, persuasion) >Stealing from, killing NPCs Doesn't exist anywhere so you can rule these out.
>Different story paths and endings Exists in most JRPGs pre-2010
>Skills that effect things outside of combat Pokemon?
>Combat that feels natural and part of the exploration, story and isn't just detatched Uh... Last Remnant? Chrono Trigger?
>Side quests with actual stories behind them, not just random fetch quests Valkyrie Profile 1 and sorta 2

>Am I asking too much? >I just want a perfect game that fits my wants to the letter. Yeah. I mean... yeah you are.
>Yeah. I mean... yeah you are. I didn't make those up out of nowhere. Several rpgs have those. Well, I know there are rpgs which will have one or two of these elements. Especially the detatched combat and endings, I mean Dark Souls has both of those. I just want a bit more of the package. These aspects just make an rpg feel more "natural".

>Dark Souls I wouldn't exactly put that anywhere close to jrpg territory but if you are then that opens up a LOT of candidates.
Colton Sanders
Play more JRPGs then those three listed, zoomer
Matthew Perry
How the fuck are Nier and Ys rpgs?
Carter King
I'm listening. Yeah, that's the point of the post. I'm asking for ones to play. I'm also from 92, so not a zoomer.

youtube.com/watch?v=ACZpHzBKCqU Looks like OP is ready to ascend beyond one-dimensional JRPGs and experience the vastness of western RPGs.
