i have the hori RAP N. very nice stick, specially if you change the joystick for a sanwa and not the hori shit

Some fagboy going to recommend getting a hitbox.

it's fun!

As gay as that pink hair trap stick.

what stick?
pics?

Mad catz fightstick pro is good

I own a Qanba Q4RAF, but I'm not playing many fighting games to this day. On top of that the modern ones don't really require arcade sticks because of 4-button attacks and easier execution.
It was important in the past with specific games like most Capcom and SNK fighters but nowadays they kind of lost their purpose, unless you come from the arcade days and you're kind of a boomer.

I didn't think anyone would actually be gay enough to buy programming socks.

I've got a Quanba Dragon
I wouldn't recommend honestly
>expensive as fuck
>heavy as fuck
>big as fuck
>lever is loud as fuck
>lever has a really small but super frustrating "dead zone" i don't really know how to describe
otherwise it's a pretty good stick.
>no drivers needed
>also works on PS4
>buttons are incredibly responsive (almost too responsive)
>easy access to the inside
>looks nice

>buying a hitbox
>not just making your own

Pathetic

So what stick is good for 2d fighting games. I'm planning to play sum darkstalkers. Ls 32 or there is something better?

>Quanba
Qanba*
Forgot it's spelled weird

Buying the board and a metal case costs about as buying a hitbox outright.
I guess it would be cheaper if you made the case yourself but I don't have the tools for that and wouldn't trust myself to get the holes positioned and sized perfectly anyways

Also why most if the sticks are on sanwa parts? Why is no one making sticks on seimitsu parts?

nah

Looking forward to the Super Full House TE set at EVO, how about you guys?

I have a TES+ that you sadly can't get anymore.

Attached: TES+.jpg (768x512, 100K)

Ugh I play my fightans in this one too and it's absolute suffering. Those terrible diagonals make bedman's triangle jumps a pain in the ass to pull off, without mentioning all those whiffed 2H when I wanted 1H and the TK motions. Jesus Christ
Fuck I need an arcade stick for yesterday

this one is the one i use, it might not be great but it gets the job done

Attached: 1534129067457.jpg (2592x1944, 1005K)

I've literally never had a problem with inputs on my 360 controller. I'd rather drink a glass of hydrochloric acid than switch over to a fagstick.

A Panzer 3, HORI VLX and a madcatz TE

Poverty builds are always cool. It's like when people main jagi in HNK: everyone likes you and think you're cool.

For anyone who can't afford I stick I recommend you give this a try. It honestly rivals stick in my opinion, feels really good and its a lot cheaper.

Nigga, i think you're the scrub.

Thank you. I had to make my own pink stick since niggas online are charging $300+ For the madcatz x sanrio one.

You can make your own for cheap if you can handle wood, even cheaper if you can find a cheap wooden box in a dollar store, I used sanwa parts with a Brook Figthing Board PCB

Attached: IMG-20181217-WA0031.jpg (3264x1836, 480K)

How come?
To simply jump diagonally on that pad you have to press forward then carefully slide your finger upwards because if you try to simply press 9, the controller shits up a 8969 and you end up jumping straight up

Attached: DZJ4dXcU8AAiJww.jpg large.jpg (2048x1534, 535K)

Again, I've literally never had that issue on my 360 controller. I just push it diagonally and it works?

Why is it that every time someone makes a thread like this, they forget to mention what type of games they want to play and even what platform support they want the stick to have? Every time. 100% without fail. Are stick players all retards?

They meant this one

Attached: jmwg0gnwh7n01.jpg (768x1024, 134K)

I have had a Hori Rap V (Xbone version) for about 2 years and I have no complaints except that maybe the buttons can be too sensitive sometimes. I don't have an Xbone I just got it for PC since it was the only one I could find at the time, and it works fine on PC in 360 mode. I have thumb issues so I can't use a regular controller for too long meaning I use it for everything and it's still kicking today despite almost daily use. Works great on shmups, fighters, platformers, pretty much anything that doesn't rely on analog input. I cleared Hollow Knight on it and it felt great. It's a great solid stick and I'd definitely recommend it, especially since it's professional quality at a decently affordable price. It's been out for a while now so you could probably get it used for under $150.

Before that I used a Hori Mini just to get my feet wet, and while I enjoyed it for a while eventually the stick started consistently dropping back inputs until they pretty much stopped working at all so I can't recommend it. The stick resistance was very high which you might enjoy if you don't like accidental inputs, and even though the buttons were tiny I didn't really find it that uncomfortable. Honestly for $50 if the stick never broke I'd definitely recommend it as a starter stick, but it's just not worth it if it's going to crap out on you in under a year. I didn't even use it all that much at the time either.

Attached: iu[1].jpg (600x450, 25K)

The nigga that uses this stick is sus. He plays his fighters as if he's holding a cello or some sort of instrument. I saw him often when GU in mass was still active. He's cool, but it doesn't shake the fact that he's still sus.

>spend hundreds of dollars on a controller for a niche type of games, in which they will n ever make it out of pools
yes.

I almost want to get a hitbox for brawlhalla

You can recycle the pcb on the hori mini if you still have it around, mate. If not: that breaks my heart...

Attached: 98112cd5e651a96b3bec237e87ab2224d1946c609bde6ee9d3e28becab09a864.jpg (900x1200, 173K)

alpha as fuck

>tfw too much of a brainlet to figure out how this works
How the fuck do you play an analog game on a digital input device? Especially since Smash doesn't have a run button option. Do you have a button for jab, tilts and smash attacks? Different buttons for walk and run? Different buttons for shield tilts? Sounds like a fucking nightmare. You'd need a 200 IQ just to play this above casual masher-tier.

Because people already assume you have an idea on what people play on a stick? Your autism is showing, nigga. It doesn't matter what people play using it. Games are meant to be fun, so let the people use whatever feels fun.

>Chad stick player
>Virgin hitbox players

I’ve met controller elitists but I’ve never met one who championed the 360 dpad. This shit is bizarre.

Thats the dude lmao. He's sus, but he's cool. I never played him in Rev2, but i think he plays bedman.

i assume that's why the box have 500 buttons for a game that normally only uses analog system + like 3-4 buttons

>Easy access to the inside
>Expensive sticks make swapping parts easier
>But you wouldn't want to swap because they already come with premium parts
>Cheap sticks making swapping parts a nightmare
>You definitely want to swap because the parts are low quality

Attached: 1506394826524.jpg (233x246, 17K)

You misunderstand. I use the analog stick. D-Pad is literally the only flaw on the controller.

What's the board on these things? Do they only work with Ultimate or are they backwards compatible with 4, Brawl, melee, etc?

iirc, there is a button near directionals to help with walking and running near the WASD layout. Then, everything else seems to be layed out like a GC controller.

Cute feet

What about this one? I can't find that PS FC pad on Amazon right now

the fuck is sus
speak english asshole

I think they made them usinf mc chutulu boards before since those worked on GC. As of now, it's gotta be the brook boards that work with the switch/xb1(360) and ps3/4

Attached: 1531907166306.png (546x454, 223K)

Sus is english, nigga lol. It means suspect.

Attached: B7F821D0-4447-4084-83B8-09950C119001.jpg (480x480, 32K)

I looked up just replacing the stick on it with something that isn't shit, but it involves soldering and I'm afraid I'l break something. I read something about not being able to replace the buttons because they're soldered directly to the board or something so I don't know if I can use it on an entirely new build. Then again I'm retarded when it comes to electronics so I dunno.

How about you make one instead?
the stripes are burnt with a blowrorch, and the whole covered in polyurethane. I know it looks like a grilled sandwich, I went for a simple pattern the first time. Buttons and stick are Sanwa

user you can just tell us you're gay, you don't need to hint at it.

Own a Nacon Daija, love the thing to death. Probably gonna sell it and get one of those DIY sticks though.

>macbook
Literally has a windows key.
Take a break, for a bit.

shit is that why i love plain triscuits so much

I heard the d pad breaks pretty fast. The only thing keeping me from giving this a shot.

What's the point of making them compatible with xb1/360 or ps3/4? The controller looks literally designed to only be functional for one game. Unlike a hitbox that would work for any fighter or even any arcade style game. They could cut costs by using a less expensive board.

Just put new art on.

Attached: IMG_20190409_232252~2.jpg (1870x1364, 558K)

It depends on preference
for the Dragon I'd want to swap the lever for something more strict and quiet since the stock one is too loud for my liking
That is pretty ironic though that expensive parts make swapping easier despite already having mostly premium parts while cheap sticks make it harder

Supposedly the newer ones have a better Dpad. I had the one with the rotatable Dpad and it wore out fairly quickly.

It would have looked nicer if you just sanded/varnished the whole thing, and went for a level/buttons that looked classier. Like a nice piece of furniture.

If they have a dedicated switch board, i think they would make them. Until then, they will have to make an expensive cheat box.

I've got a hori rap 4 Kai. It's a great stick with extra space between buttons (slightly) and between the buttons and stick. Modded mine with a Korean lever and Sanwa buttons. Button holes are a bit tight but it's not too bad.

Qanba Obsidian master race. Perfect quality/price ratio.

Attached: file.png (1690x921, 447K)

I've only heard complaints about the rotating dpad, where the thing securing the rotation in place breaks so it just ends up flying all over the place. I use the newer one and it's fine so far, though admittedly I don't use it much.

My old Madcat Fightstick Pro and my TE don't work anymore. I gave up on fightsticks it's just not worth spending $120 or $150 plus a stick.

The older model has a d-pad that can be repositioned. After a couple of years of regular use, more or less, pressing down on the d-pad wouldn't register unless it was really deliberate. I loved everything about that controller but it didn't last as long as I would've liked.
The new HORI model, which is the one you replied to, took me a while to get used to but it's pretty damn great. I don't know about how long it'll last but I still think it's an alright investment if you want a six-button controller.

>cheatbox
Is it true it makes the games unfair or is it just people memeing? I heard they were banned at first.

Nice, that's pretty fucking sick. Thanks for sharing.

First stick I've seen that has GOOD pixel art usage. Killer

I forget whether it was a hardware or a software issue but if you held left and right in certain games you could block both ways at the same time.

This has since been fixed.

what system do you play on?
if you play on pc, there are tons of good sticks you can buy second hand because of console jewery

Semi-related.. do any anons want to play Tekken 7 with me? I'm trying to learn the game and get better, but I think it would be more fun and easier if I had somebody to do that with.

Attached: 2579052-4568187252-Tekke.jpg (704x870, 259K)

Fuck it. Here it is. Lever's the Crown 309MJ.

Attached: 20190411_223107.jpg (1194x594, 464K)

Have more?

Different user. It was basically a PCB issue. The Brook Fighting Board in the hitbox allowed that. More recent firmware updates fixed it

what's the consensus on hitbox type fightsticks? i just use controllers generally

Looks good. I've been interested in using a korean style lever. I've been told they're more "freeform" feeling than the strict square gate balltops most sticks use. Do you find circle/sweeping motions easier?

>hitboxes are cheating
Honestly if anyone tried to use this thing for Smash I'd consider it more of a handicap. Look at how fucking complicated all this shit is compared to just angling your thumb slightly on a regulation GC controller
youtube.com/watch?v=hFndQ59CGb4

if you have a brain and know how to type on a keyboard (meaning you have the ability to use other fingers and not just your thumb) AND have played games on a keyboard before it's easier to do inputs than on a joystick

>complicated
uhhhh

Region and system you play on would be a good start.

You're both silly. Hit Box never did and still doesn't use Brook boards. They didn't even exist back in 2010. Also, the official Hit Box never did that, people only found out it was a possibility when they started converting their Madcatz TE sticks into Hit Boxes. Obviously the Madcatz TE was never designed with this input in mind.

It was never banned though because it's a game issue for allowing the input in the first place. The only game it worked on was MvC3, and you could do it on a stock pad by holding left on the dpad and right on the analog stick. If you banned Hit Box, you literally had to ban every controller because they could all do it.

Looks like a fightstick made for a hick.

>level buttons

No

I've been told it feels really natural for people that are used to gaming on keyboards. So if you were super poverty and played street fighter on emulator on your old IBM keyboard you'll feel right at home.

Did you watch the video?

NA, PC.

Hey anons, would this be a good gamepad for fighting games? I'm looking for something that works on several platforms (I'm mostly PC but I might buy a Switch later).

Sorry, forgot to include pic

Attached: 61Npk15hHPL._AC_SL1500_.jpg (1492x763, 83K)

Bummer. I'm from Europe and on the ps4. It takes ages here to find a fucking match.

Aren't hitbox pads are basically keyboards with circles

I don't want to watch anything related to smash

I feel like you need to land the placement of the buttons right. And I don't trust myself enough, nor do I have the tools to make the enclosure.
I'm sure I can get a woodworks place to cut it to spec, but it's probably gonna cost q bit.

>responds to comment despite not knowing shit
classic Yea Forums

If you're playing on PC you can replicate a hitbox by just using a mechanical keyboard, but I assume the main allure is that you can use a hitbox on PS4/PS3/Xbone, etc.

Yep, but I'm still terrible at 360s. QCB and QCF, Half circles, Korean backdash in Tekken, wavedash, all that, they feel great. The 309MJ's a good all purpose lever.
Bear in mind K levers do usually have circular collars at the top, whether short or high. 309MJ's short collar and it feels good. It controls throw so it's reasonable and shit, but your corners don't hit into a gate. The short collars are mainly for putting into Sanwa mounted sticks, like most of the ones on the market. For high collars, you'd need to drill your stick to have a 35mm hole. I didn't wanna do that.
Ok, my bad. Must've been with regard to custom hitboxes. SOCD works in Tekken btw. It's possible on anything that doesn't filter it/

Depends on whether you're comfortable with the Dpad and button spacing. It'd be too cramped for me, but a lot of people like those controllers

>level buttons
Not that user but you mean like an American arcade cab? That DIY uses the Noir layout, which is a pretty good one

I see, what's your pick for a gamepad then? It's my first time buying a controller and I want it mostly for fighting games (can't afford a stick atm)

I'm not the guy to ask. I'm a stick guy mainly because my thumb control's shit. I'm better with a big ass battop

>Actually purchasing a hitbox for a children's party game
o i am laffin

It amuses me that stick threads are reasonably good but any time discussion of an actual fighting game comes Yea Forums just proves themselves to be absolute casuals.

The burned parts don't absorb varnish, If I sand (which I did a bit) it it goes away.
My woodworking skills aren't there yet, But the next one will have no visible screws, no butt joints and a more complex pattern, or even a design.

For a first time controller go with the ds4, it's what all the tournament guys are using and it's compatible with everything other than fighting games.

If it's used he will need to replace the stick. The only reason people sell these things is because they are lazy niggers and they dont want to change the stick.

>MacBook
You're a really piece of work, user

I meant to say "lever and buttons" but I'm retarded, sorry.

I use my stick for MAME, mostly shmups.

Oh, well, fair enough. You don't need to have enough America in you, user. Pray to Uncle Sam

what's a good stick that is cheap, easily customizable, and can put anime girls on the front?

Not sure why but this thing pisses me off everytime I see it and I'm a hitbox user.

The Venom arcade stick, or Mayflash F500. You should be able to find templates for art on FocusAttack, or elsewhere even if you get it printed by someone else. Don't go too cheap or you'll get a shit stick. The ones I recommended are a decent mid.

>Hitbox
>Faggot
It adds up

What's the difference between a Mayflash F500 and a higher tier stick like a Hori or Qanba? I use a Hori RAP V and I like it but will I notice the difference if I get a Mayflash? I'm looking for a cheap backup stick but I don't want to get it if I'm going to notice a huge dip in quality.

Print out a peace of paper with the exact size of the buttons and the layout, mark them down on the wood/whatever, drill a hole, done.

>Higher lag due to lower-tier PCB
>Some lower tier ones have no touchpad (which is a pain for games that need it in practice and don't have legacy support)
>May need to plug into ps4 pad but not always
It'd still be worth doing just for the time before getting an old stick, but gotta bear this stuff in mind.

Eh, may as well wait until the next generation RAP stick and pick up a backup V for cheap. Or look for a RAP IV, though I hear those have worse levers.

Sanwa parts are a meme, they're good but just extremely overrated by the community.

For an absolute fight stick beginner is the F500 a good choice?

I always swap parts on my sticks. The Rap 4 was upgraded to the new Hayabusa lever and buttons but I'm too attached to my setup. Crown and Sanwa. The headset on the Rap V looks like a good addition tho.
I'm in the UK so importing other buttons is way too expensive. Seimitsus need more pressure than I like to push with personally. If Sanwa get an affordable line with MX switches or similar, I'll switch to that

Reminder that American Parts are shit.

rap4 on ps4 & pc. it's pretty gud for a cheap stick

For an absolute beginner, yes. It's a good size, and the parts aren't bad. Not arcade quality, but they're nothing to scoff at. If you're from Europe, the Venom Arcade Stick's also really good. Both are easy to mod with a lot of part types down the road.
Specifically the EU version. Don't go for the Hori Mini, for the love of god.

Ahem right here.

Here's your stick bro

Is the toggle to go between full tilt and half tilt? Seems fine for casuals but this limits a lot of nuance that the smashbox/normal controller lets you do.

What do you guys use for transporting your sticks to locals/friend's houses or whatever? I've been looking into arcade stick bags but they generally seem overpriced for what they are.

Is this Blackhand?

You can fix them, man. If not, you can ship them my way c:) i'll pay to have broken sticks.

you know people keep praising but I fucking hate part of it
I hate how the start/select button is at a weird ass position
like its a second button from left/right
same with the retard turbo function

also fuck the default LED setting. when you went to local and played against someone with obsidian the fucking flashing light in front of your eyes is fucking distracting
I swear some of them leave it on on purpose

haha

Sanwa JLF is a standard one. I use a Korean lever just fine for them tho

A link is a detatchable balltop shaft made for sticks.

thanks captain retard but someone already answered my question

Toggle is for dpad afaik, it's an analog stick instead of digital so you can do everything on the regular config

I have one but I stopped using it because the bottom started to smell. Should I sell it? Shame because they're great

I play stick but always wanted to try a pad specially for fg, does any of the types of pads have the 6 button layout and a joystick? My brain can't handle a dpad

Attached: 1554267686457.jpg (441x364, 33K)

I'm really iffy about messing with the internals of my stick since I'm a retard when it comes to electronics. I'd rather just find a larger bag.

I'm not and I don't know what his deal is but I guess he's having a bad day. Thanks for the response.

...You want a gamepad with an arcade stick on it?

Uh, arcade sticks have 6 button layouts and a joystick...

does anyone has this, how is it

dont know if i want to get another one

I don't think you should be buying $300 controllers if you're prone to throwing them out of windows.

>used to have a panthera but i raged and threw it out the window
user, Jesus Christ.
Still, Fighting Edge. Have heard mostly good things. good layout, tho kinda heavy, angled front for wrist resting, spacious, and mostly mod friendly. Apparently the button holes are kinda tight if you try to mod it tho. I'm not sure if it comes with Hori or Sanwa parts

yep, here's my fight stick.

Attached: ps4.jpg (2000x2000, 190K)

ara ara~

It's pretty easy to install, but if you're going to be a big pussy about modding a stick then sure I guess buying a larger bag is fine.
Buy a Panzer or AFS stick if you can't handle your autism.

do you mean this?

the neogeo and the PDP are fightpads with a digital 8 way joystick, there's not much options for this kind of pads unfortunately

I want this fucker but it needs a price drop. I heard some people get it for like $150.

Attached: 71Okmk9GcuL._SL1500_.jpg (1500x1125, 67K)

Dragon's price rarely drop but I got my obsidian brand new for $130 off new egg sales

Still chance are you can get it cheap for used and half of the time its basically brand new
usually its some rich kid bought it when some new fighting game came out
and few months down they stop playing the game and are looking to sell their overprice stick

t. braindead seppo

Actually it did go down around Christmas last year for around $170 - $185.

Why the fuck are fightsticks so retardedly expensive to get in Australia? Most sites won't even let you import them.

Try amazon. Im from nz and got mine from there

Cheers. Most sites I use like play Asia say they won't ship them here and I'm not paying $400 for a controller.

Would rather get the smashstick over this.

That's exactly what I am looking for, sorry for wording it badly

I have had one of these and a ps3 hori sanwa stick for like 7 years now and no problems. I actually got a ps4 stick (qanba obsidian) recently to have a backup/2p stick and I hate how close the buttons are to the stick as well as where they put the extra buttons so I just haven't used it at all.

Pretty much anything, Tekken 7 and DOA6 are my favorites right now though. They're also fun for shmups.

oh they made sticks specifically for dbfz? cool

is there a video out there on how to put art or a picture on a qanba dragon like other fightsticks?
I'd probably treat it with a lot more care if it had a picture of my waifu on it

I'd play Guilty Gear on that.
Only need 6P anyway
