I feel like this entire franchise has always been a forced meme in the industry and don't see what's so great about the games other than a nice aesthetic and sound track from the earlier titles. Maybe like 2 of the 3D games were fun but at some point I only see this series surviving because OMG ITS SONIC GUYS. It's really been struggling from some shit games and I'm just perplexed as to why the fandom keeps it afloat, some of the games were alright but far from miraculous. Definitely not so amazing I'd make Sonic an icon for generations and put him up there with Super Mario.

I don't know why people forget it's a platformer, but it's always been exactly that.

The few good Sonic games are really good and are surprisingly unique. Most platformers take after Mario or Metroid, Sonic's momentum based play is actually quite rare.

I really loved the Modern Sonic stages in Generations and I want only that. I was okay with a few Classic Sonic stages like City Escape and Rooftop Run but other than that only nostalgia power me through. The Classic physics are borked beyond belief and lack a finesse to it, I felt like I was a ninja carrying a fucking heavy sack slowly making pinpoint platform jumps, and the spin dash is busted and makes you go at the speed of light with one press. Plus I feel like Sonic Team only had passion for designing 3D levels, as soon as it becomes 2D the quality noticeably dipped. Is there a mod out there that only let's me play the daytime stages in Unleashed? Or can I nab a 100% save file and just replay the daytime stages instead? I'm really starving for more of that.

Sonic Mania was only mediocre, The Remixes were often worse (see Hydrocity, Flying Battery, Chemical Plant [Excluding Act 2]) and the stages were shallow. Mighty and Ray were cool aditions but didn't end up adding much, They should of added much more new stages than old stages, Angel Island should of been at least a full level. I beat Sonic Mania with all 3 characters and collected all the emeralds. Sonic 3 A.I.R has only reinstanted the S3K Dominance for me. I can still go back to Sonic 3 even after all this time.
