Great era but I think most eras were good in their own rights. Though this current gen is so fucking bad I still havnt bothered to buy a console or really any new games on PC. If there is anything that has made me feel out of touch or old its this current gen and how politicized/sensationalized games are now. Eh, that's a decent list. Your right to stick with indie, that's basically how all the old games were made, with just a super small dev team so the creative ideas can stay at the forefront, but you lose me when you say old games havent aged well. Stuff like n++, cuphead, ftl, hotline Miami, do stuff way better than the old games could have, and some of those in really new and creative ways. But games like velocity 2x, spelunky, shovel knight, star dew valley, rogue legacy, while all still really fun games clearly are paying homage to older classics, and I feel like your missing the point if you say these are amazing but discount stuff like zelda, metroid, megaman, castlevania, ninja gaiden, warioland, harvest moon, etc.

I can only hope that when the day comes, any of those who are nostalgic for fortnight will still be shit on for their bad tastes

That same mentality goes for the internet. For those who are old enough to have gone through the age of dial up, we remember how long it took to load a website back before high speed came along. We remember internet speeds that were so slow video wasnt even a possibility. Now people get antsy if their phone takes 3 seconds to load a page. I think a lot of ADD just comes from being surrounded by technology that rewards us by giving us what we want instantaneously.

The thing about this whole "90's person" experience, or any other decade, you tend to have random pieces of history lingering around your house for several years especially if your parents weren't always buying the newest technology.

I'm 92 and I remember how much teachers were freaking out and sending all the kids home that day. The TVs were playing the crashes on non stop repeat for the longest time. I remember the shots of people jumping out of the towers cause there was no way out so they just took their own lives. I remember everyone wanting to go to war, everyone wanting the "enemy" to pay for doing this. I was in 4th grade, and I remember then and also in 5th grade having a Muslim friend I'd hang out with a bunch and being concerned for his family from what was a very understandable backlash to muslims in the U.S. as a whole. Maybe I was a lot more aware of all this than other kids my age, but also it's crazy what a few years between kids can mean for what they can take in from an event.

If you actually read what I said you would be able to make sense of it. Just because I was "too young" doesn't mean I was never able to experience it. My mom recorded a lot of TV on VHS tapes and taught me how to use the VHS player whenever I wanted to watch shit like Looney Tunes. There's an entire library of recorded TV that belongs to me, whenever I want to watch it, all because I still happen to have a VHS player. That's literally just one example that I remember.
