Fanservice is great and has never made a game worse. Of course, it can’t make a bad game good, but it can make a good game even slightly better.

Depends on how it is used.

If the game is made up of it (Senran Kagura, Onechanbara, DoAX, etc) then I find it takes away from the actual game and feels more like the game is trying to sell itself on the fanservice alone. Which, to be honest, there are a lot of titles that are exactly that.

Use it sparingly, and it is fine and doesn't interrupt the flow too much. Some games are kind of boarderline with this and can go a bit too far (Danganronpa is a prime example of sometimes going a little too far, especially UDG).

With that said, I think it is ridiculous when a company tries to censor fanservice if the game is M rated.
