I just got this for Switch, how do I save my game? Does resting at a bonfire do that?

How well does it play on the switch? Considering getting it so I can play with my bruddas on the couch

Also is there any consequence if you die? Do you lose exp or? Also how do you use exp?

It's ran really decently so far.

Autosave

its good. because of the joycon layout, its possible to move the camera, attack and use items without a claw grip

Tips on DEX playthrough? I have a scimitar and do no damage to Quelaag.

You lose your souls, but leave a bloodstain that you can collect to get them back. If you die again without getting them back, they're gone for good.

Go for the great scythe, easy to get after a guide and available at start

Its a good port. Havent noticed any issues with it.

Upgrade your weapon.

how's the online activity on the switch? still wondering whether i should get the remaster for the ps4 or the switch, but playing dark souls in handheld mode sure sounds interesting

doing no damage is fine as long as you take no damage too

Upgrade your weapon

i want to replay this game but not sure what build to pick, i just want something not too special and that will allow me to easily beat the game. should i go for sorcery, miracles or pyro?

Thanks. I guess that's quite a punishment for dying.

So can I use the souls to level up? How do I do that? I don't want to keep losing them all before I can use them.

sorcery is easy mode

does the game still have audio issues? Im thinking of picking it up

Did they ever fix the audio compression issues in this version?

So can I literally turn my game off at any point and it will have saved?

Stop playing after you reach anor londo

yes, but just to be safe do so after resting at a bonfire

yes but do it in a safe spot. enemies can still come and fuck you even in sleep mode

there are people, but nothing is stopping you for getting dark souls 3 for 10 dollars to play pvp

But why, the best boss Bed of Chaos is post Anor Londo.

It's good but only 30 fps. But it's a stable 30 unlike the original. Love being able to play dark souls mobile

don't really care about pvp, just want to help people with bosses mostly

Quitting the game and pressing continue also resets enemy placements and aggro. So if ever you get swarmed just quit and reload, or you know, kill them all.

I'd suggest pyromancy for a first playthrough so that you can focus on upgrading physical stats, since pyromancy (effectively) scales only off of the glove's level

You can use souls to level up at bonfires, but souls are also currency for items and upgrading your gear.
Get 16 str and 16 dex to use most of the weapons, this way you can try them out and see what you like, but more importantly level up your vitality and endurance.

30 FPS but wow is the sound compressed to hell

does dark souls still hold up today? Has it aged well?

No

what about the DLC?

what about it

how effective is sorcery in the DLC content

audio issues are still present

it's more enjoyable to replay than its sequels

>You can use souls to level up at bonfires
You can? I must have missed that.

Yeah I don't seem able to. How do I do that?

the only issue is the compressed sound. it also has the lighting of the original and that's actually better since the lightning of the ps4 version was awful

Yes

play the gane faggot

Granted, I don't play with headphones, but I haven't noticed the compression issues people talk about. I played the original on PC too.

Seething DS2 shitter

>10 dollars

ffs I bought it full price and I’m maybe a third of the way through

change.org/p/krzysztof-olborski-release-cyberpunk-2077-on-nintendo-switchtm

Finish the tutorial?

i don't have the game, retard

There's a level up option on the bonfire menu. Sit down on it and you will see.

You'll never make it through this game if this is your level of attention though

He's probably still at the tutorial where you can't yet

See an otolaryngologist

>how do I save my game?

you don't need to, the game is "constantly saving" and you "are where you are" for lack o a better way of putting it. bonfires just serve as checkpoints, if you die you will respawn at the last one you rested at. if you quit and reload you just reload exactly where you quit. only way to potentially lose progress is if you force shutdown/game crashes and even then you *may* only lose like the last 5 seconds of progress so you'd have to be really unlucky timing-wise to lose anything of value.

>dex
World of str or bust

I've only played the Remastered version, and yes, it has aged very well.

It says I can heal at the bonfire but the only option I have is to leave.

Maybe I'm at the tutorial? I'm in the Asylum.

Only thing It lacks is lots of QoL that's present in II and III

>not even out of the tutorial and already asking for help/advice
just play the game

Play the game. It's not supposed to hold your hand

I just wanted to know what direction I have to go with this game from the offset. I'll play around some more.

30 fps with several graphical compromises. btw

Look at the fire in that version of the game. It looks straight from the N64

It runs okay, but some textures are complete shit. I'm not exaggerating: the Wyvern on the bridge breathes out cone of pepperoni and pineapple vomit instead of fire a blast right from PSX age.
I'll post screenshots in half an hour if thread will survive

In this case its literally go forward. You're in the first 10 minutes my dude just play.

You guys sure that's not the original textures from the 360/PS3 release of the game? Becasue the switch version just uses the original graphics with gameplay and netcode improvements

it's literally the original release on PS3/360

>I just wanted to know what direction I have to go with this game from the offset.
You only have one

no spoiler tip list for beginners

How do I deal with the mom spider barfing lava on me? I can't run to the side in time and can't escape after getting hit with it.

I just glanced at this and the first thing I see is
>avoid the graveyard
No. Let people explore the starting area however they want and be rewarded for doing so. Just because you missed a nice weapon on your first playthrough because you were scared to explore doesn't mean other people should do the same

You probably have too high equipment load.

OP again, I'm at the Asylum Demon. I'm having a hard time but I'll keep going.

Had a weird fight where sif just started walking away like a bitch.

youtu.be/YBu5mn0kd4U

Fuck dude no one wants an update just fucking play.

How is a 27 STR/40 INT Enchanted Great Club build?

Outside the horrible audio
It’s damn good port
Literally does everything else right

It's time to revisit Lordran.

Dark Souls is a game that rewards patience. For many bosses expect to get your ass kicked repeatedly, but at least try to learn their attack patterns and the best way to fight them. Dying is a slap on the wrist in these games. At worst you lose souls, but can always just get more.

fuck yeah

Awwww here we go!

Thanks. I'm getting my ass absolutely handed to me at the moment. I can do about a 10th of it's health.

the tip should be replaced with "items you pick up are stored even if you die, so dont be afraid to suicide run just to see whats around and just grab shit"

Rolling gives you invincibility frames. Learn to roll on time and often.

Also, your roll speed is affected by your armor; if you have a "slow roll" (pretty obvious) take off some armor so you have a faster roll. This is way more important than the negligible amount of damage you mitigate from armor. (in other words, most armor in this game is only mildly helpful)

Gib

Oh right. Don’t bother fighting. There’s a door to the left.

Is there seriously only one difficulty setting?

I didn't see the stairway that goes up(yes, I'm retarded) and banged my head against the graveyard and New Londo for several hours. Those ghost bitches made me rage, I almost quit.

There's NG+ after you kill the final boss that can increase all the way to NG+7

Why the fuck does nobody read the manual before playing this game? It literally explains everything that people complain is "too obtuse" about the game.

>steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steam/apps/211420/manuals/DarkSouls_PC_Manual_Online_GB.pdf?t=1483694369

...

i seriously hope you arent OP. asking if there's only one difficulty after fighting an optional boss at the beginning of the game would be horrendously faggy.

Attached: 1515511776223.jpg (894x894, 368K)

I don’t see anything about weapon scaling in there, which is extremely important, and the player likely isn’t going to learn it if they’re not familiar with the concept.

You don't need to know anything about weapon scaling to play the game well. Optional advanced mechanics don't need to be spelled out for you.

There two or three doors and I can't go in any of them, one says 'locked'

Wait that boss was optional?

Nope I'm the OP. It's optional?

I'm also thinking of picking it up. It's the online dead on the switch?

Fuck that, I went in blind and like I fucked with the skeletons all the way to Tomb of the Giants until I lost my mind and quit for a few months. I forget how I realized I was in the wrong place.
Exploration is fine, but you telling a new player they should go that way is bad advice. Take a look around maybe, but that isn't a good way to start. OP clearly has no idea what he's doing. Which is fine but don't give a complete novice bad advice.

Holy shit I just found a sword that is way more powerful than what I was using. I might have a chance now.

Bad advice is telling people not to go somewhere
Okay advice is letting people discover areas on their own
GREAT Advice is letting people know it's an area tuned for later in the game but pushing through these challenges can give great rewards...

Yes but if you are online it will boot you to your last bonfire. If you play in offline, you can put the switch in sleep mode and continue at the moment you stopped. It is also the only way to pause because shut will kill you even if you go to the dashboard.

The only thing that's really palpable is the lack of directions for rolling. You can only roll forwards, backwards and sideways. Otherwise the game would be easier

The only reward I got was not wanting to play the fucking game anymore.

That's because you give up too easily.

>Yes but if you are online it will boot you to your last bonfire
Does it? I don't remember that being the case, but I'm not sure.

I tortured myself and got to Tomb of the Giants having never played the game before. But it just got to be too much and wasn't fun. Even now I still hate that area.

>I fucked with the skeletons all the way to Tomb of the Giants
That's pretty impressive for a first run

Based and ds2pilled

I feel you. My first run I was cursed and stuck inside Ash Lake. I couldn't make the journey back up and got increasingly frustrated so I made a new character.

To be fair I think it took me weeks. I just knew Dark Souls was supposed to be really hard and it never occurred to me that I went the wrong way.

you can't claim to know whether or not it has aged well if you've only played the remaster

Are there any noob traps in character creation? I was thinking of going Knight because "Not easily toppled." sounds encouraging, though I'm sure I'll be toppled plenty of times. Also, what's the deal with the master key? I've seen a lot of people say to take it, but I'm not really interested in shortcuts since this shit is supposed to be tough.

This is exactly what I did after checking out the graveyard and dying, it worked great, that tip is BS. Didn't even die, just ran past a ton of enemies and made it back to the bonfire.

Classes don't really matter unless you a Min/Max autist.
Just pick one that you like aesthetically.

Avoid Master Key on your first playthrough, it's a great tool to unlock some of the game early for players who know the World inside and out to get things out of the game.

You'll disrupt the natural order of progression and most likely get lost with it.

as long as you don't pick something like cleric on your first time through you should be fine, don't choose the master key for a beginner playthrough when it really only comes in handy on repeat runs

>struggle for hours in the catacombs but I finally beat Pinwheel
>amassed over fifteen hundred souls
>huh why is it so dark
>fall
>desperate run to try to get my souls back but get killed by skeleton wheels

Attached: cry.jpg (1068x744, 282K)

With my new sword I'm actually getting pretty close to beating the Asylum Demon. But I had to randomly backtrack and find a corpse that had the sword. If I hadn't decided to that by luck I never would have been ableto beat this boss.

Is the whole game as cryptic as this?

quaalag is resistant to small slashes IIRC, turn human in the swamp, kill the npc invader and then summon her to smash quaalag for you while you poke quaalag with arrows in the tits that will permanently stunlock her

Game is easy as piss once you master controls and it only took me 1 hour max. 2nd run in and I’m playing as pyro with master key and axe only

Cheers anons, looking forward to it.

literally the only from software game worth playing beyond demon's souls and bloodborne, avoid the rest, they are meme games, especially the dark souls """"""""""""sequels"""""""""""" which are the biggest waste of time and most stupid marketing greedy cunt stunt of this decade

You only need master key if you know the way through the game. Don't bother.
As for the character class goes, i'd recommend to go knight, warrior or bandit for a first run but that's just me

I completely missed Ash Lake my first run so I never had that problem

>tip 2 is already wrong

lmfao

Aaaaah thank you fella.
I haven't played the game since last fall.
I do at least 2-3 playthroughs a year. Still the fucking best of the series.

dude it's not that cryptic at all, within the first 5 minutes of the game you run into a room with a big dude you obviously can't beat yet so you turn left and run through the open door and get a shield and sword, then you fight a few skeletons and go through a fog door, now you're above that big dude, fall on top of him and attack while falling and you'll take out 1/3rd of his health, then dodge and hit him till he dies, which shouldn't take long. read the messages on the ground they tell you everything you need to do to progress through the tutorial.

>don't pick cleric
Faggot.

these are always pointless because only quality build is fun desu

>30 FPS

Attached: 1554155701495.jpg (412x352, 32K)

what part of "on your first time through" did you miss

yikes, you have shit taste m8, you know that bloodborne is way more similar to ds2 than any other game right?

>it's ok when bloodborne does it

>talking shit about Metal Wolf Chaos and 3D Dot Game Heroes

What's the best version of Dark Souls?

okay so you haven't played it clearly

Roll thy niggeth

>bloodborne is way more similar to ds2

yeah they came out on the same year

PC release of Prepare to Die with DSfix

>master key doesn't matter
>pyromancer starter doesn't matter
>knight starter with heavy armor and perfect stats to cast heal from the start doesn't matter
>thief with billions of wastet stats doesn't matter
>starting deprived EVER

L M F A O

I don't want to replay it but I want some fromvania in my life

Any worthy imitators on switch?

1 is the comfiest
3 is the most polished

Hm, well I'll keep a look out for items now.

Just to give an example about the difference in using the sword, with the sword it takes two hits to beat the skeletons, without about 20. I was expecting a hard game but spending ages just to beat a basic enemy is just annoying.

and bloodborne took a lot of cues from ds2 in its design and mechanics

Also how should level up as a beginner? I guess HP? Maybe defense?

the list is only relevant for a first run though.

It's not okay when BB does it, I didn't play that transexual magnet of a game

Is it true that if you play the game offline on Switch you can pause the game by going into the home menu?

Attached: bear seek seek lest.png (800x400, 468K)

Mace is one of the better weapons in the game
Heal is literally 5 free estus.

Cleric is a godlike beginner class.

master key only matters if you're a speedrunner, and you can pick any starting class and end up building any type of character you want, and yeah playing deprived is super fun and a great type or roleplay (it's an rpg by the way in case you didn't know), but it's only fun if you actually know how to play the game which presumably you don't.

The item you choose from now on is going to matter a lot less. You'll still switch, but you barely had a weapon at the start (before you found a sword). Upgrades matter more.

It runs just ok.

yeah obviously you should use the actual sword not the broken sword you start with

>punching or using a broken sword does less damage than a real sword
>wtf why so cryptic?!

Jesus Christ dude just delete the game

Here is the picture, lads.

Attached: AgeOfFire.jpg (1280x720, 241K)

1. Obvious
2. LOL (No master key, shit)
3. No, lol...
4. Some moves can't be dodged.... but can be blocked
5. Wrong
6. WRONG
7. Uh yes they are.
8. Obvious...
9 Obvious...
10. >summoning
11. Fuck off, this is stupid advice
12 ^^^ see above
13 more survivalbility = more damage... dumb...
14 poise is never bad
15. obvious...
16 duh
17 duh
18 not really
19. obvious
20. this is also obvious

holy shit this is the dumbest pile of human excrement ive ever seen

if you're having this much trouble just look up a walkthrough

Damage Type matters.

Skeletons don't have flesh or muscle to tear through so Slash Damage is not a great pick

Thrust weapons do absolute no damage because you've got nothing to poke.

Blunt weapons shit on bones.

458163030
I'm not giving this bait a (You)

Dear lord, the Switch was a mistake. It can't even play games from last gen.

>this list for beginners has tips that are obvious in hindsight
No shit sherlock, are you literally retarded?

can you dupe on remastered?

Is there a combination I have not tried yet?

It works slightly differently. Just look it up.

it's frame perfect and annoying to pull off
only works with items with a Are you sure you want to use X? Y/N

1.) Start
2.) Select Item
3.) Use Item, and immediately after pressing confirm you need to press START

if you open the start menu you did the glitch right, use estus.
If you get it Are you sure Y/N? Hit N, you did it wrong.

Everyone who replies will play up until gaping dragon then quit.

I thought pyro was easy mode.

Who's your favorite Dark Souls eceleb, Yea Forums?

pyro is slightly easy mode that's great for first timers, sorcery is so easy it breaks the game, the patrician way to play is no shields or armor and 2 handing

Ninja

Well, whips are stupid, I'll just use miracles and pyromancy.

>not quitting after asylum demon

that's a spicy meatball

user, read

It's the fact I needed a key item that was presented as a normal item that was easy to bypass.

roll, watch carefully. Remove all of your equipment, see the change. Balance equipment to have an ideal mix of protection and roll speed.

>that
>easy to bypass
You really shouldn't be playing this. I'm warning you.

I guess I'll give it a try.

30 fps lock

>this retarded autism of thread getting this many replies

if it hasn't been posted already.
Now get the fuck out.
