Why a VR fanboys so entitled?

The thing about the so-called for-enthusiasts VR visors is that they are not, in fact, good for really complex and/or hardcore games, simply because no consumer PC in existence would be able to run them at that resolution. Try actually playing something like DCS, Xplane or Sturmovik thru the Pimax, even on a 2000 dollar system, then we'll speak again.

Pimax 5k and 8k can be run well with a 1080 ti. Look it up. You can build a 1080 ti equipped PC for under 2k now

I have it. Casual VR games do. Simulators (aka the only decent content in existence for the damn thing in this year of our lord) do not.

The sad thing is, it's still probably true. Without Facebook's makerting push for their so called "Nintendo Switch of VR", the Quest, this whole field of technology wouldn't even have the slight mainstream relevance of today. What we need currently aren't better devices, but larger adoption and coming from it, actually good games.

Mobile VR is regressive and will achieve nothing of value. It still won't sell enough units to be mass market. They need to keep working on improving the technology instead of racing to the bottom.

Expensive tech only sells to a small market
If the market is small, less devs will make games (and those games will be small, yet expensive) because there's not much money to be made in a small market.

Even cheap VR will only reach a small market. They need to improve the clunky tech a lot before it has a chance of going mass market.

PSVRs tech is total ass and it's the best selling and most buyers report being satisfied, and the quest will be a big step over PSVR in everyway but graphically. Even the resolution is better.

The tech is fine, Luckey is a retard who doesn't understand normies. It's more than just price, it's that it's a goddamn fucking hassle to use and setup.

The simple fact is, quest is good, because you just just throw it anywhere and you're in. Ez as fuck, that shit is like catnip to normies.

I really hate dealing with VR enthusiasts because this shit is very basic and yet all they scream about is more expensive tech, and anything less is considered an insult and betrayal.

PSVR is still a small market. Less than 3% of PS4 owners have one. Pushing an underpowered mobile device on them isn't going to change anything.

clunky tech has succeeded before in the videogames world. Look at the history of Nintendo: all you REALLY need are talented devs unlike most of the indies currently working for vr.

Cardboard is actually a perfect analogy for the quest, pushing out cheap shit just to "reach the masses". Very short sighted.

The Wii was like a shittier gamecube with gyroscopes and an IR equipped controller. And yet, here we are.

Except with actual games, and with the whole screens and lens positioning polished to perfection.

And it's cheaper than a flagship phone. Nobody buys a phone for VR. You can't mass market that. It's a neat thing for those who bought a Galaxy.

In general, I would assume them to have PS2 levels of fidelity, which is fine as long as the dev can into art direction.

Why are people so against this thing?
I own a Rift and its fucking annoying that it takes up THREE usb ports minimum, 4 if you want actually good tracking. All I've seen about the S is the fact it not only doesn't need sensors since it has a new system built into the head unit itself but it also has nice looking new controllers and a slightly higher res to boot. Not to mention being able to plug your own headphones in instead of using the default.

It seems like a straight upgrade to me, albeit not a major one but just the ease of use seems like a great thing to me. If I want to use my Rift at the moment I need to unplug something plus one of my monitors just to plug in all the sensors and shit plus the initial setup was a pain to mount the sensors on the walls just for proper coverage.

PCVR fanboys are edgy for gen 2, with eye tracking, a wider FOV and high resolutions.
Its simply not feasible yet.

Exactly, that tech is extremely early days, eye tracking is simply not ready yet on a consumer level and wider FOV plus high res just won't be able to run on current hardware and even if it is the actual games visuals will be downgraded to all fuck.
It is going to be years before we get to that point and what we really need to get out of the way first is user comfort and ease of use.

All that being said about what I like about the S, I'm most likely going to switch over to Valve next VR gen just because of the knuckle controllers, those look fucking nice.

Because the tracking system is less accurate, there's no IPD slider, the resolution upgrade is marginal and it wasn't even made by Oculus. People expected more after waiting 3 years.

Literally the only issue is the IPD slider, that probably has something to do with Lenovo.
Otherwise "Expecting more" is a pretty shit reason to hate a product when almost nobody is really doing "more". Maybe there is a reason most companies are not doing more.
100% guarantee that aside from the Knuckles, the index will not do anything special to differentiate itself from the competition, I expect it to be a cheaper Vive Pro.
