No
game is too hard for babbies
they even had to add saving outside of haven in a patch
oh no no no no
Im starting my forth attempt to play this game soon.
Its about 2 years on my hard drive and I always get stuck at the stone golem.
>"game doesn't tell you anything!"
>game's manual actually tells you everything
Finished it for the first time recently. Modern NY was comfy
Cheese him by going behind the wood gate to the cemetary. His arm clips through it and you can hit him safely.
AI admittedly IS a big problem in the game.
>dat feel when you can turn Haus de Hexe into a cakewalk by exploiting Tremere AI and kitting them one by one into your ambushes
Fucking hell that was a good game, everyone is bitching about "how it copied ((Diablo)))" but everything about vtmr is better, the ambience, voice actors, ost.
It's all very enchanting.
Personally this game left a mark on me.
(Btw I wish Nicholas guest would be used for vtmb2, he's such a talented voice actor).
How good is this game in comparison to Bloodlines?
>go to haus de hexe
>kill any tremere lord
>use awaken discipline
>use theft of vitae
>use firestorm & repeat for infinite xp
>literally unlock every discipline and skill before vyserahd
Just remember that high Manipulation breaks the economy as it increases sell price of the items. More than you buy them for.
literally the most difficult dungeon in the game for me was the vyserahd castle because tzimisce can awaken the beast in your players if you let them and don't kill them fast enough.
It's alright, if you're a big nerd of vtm you'd like vtmr.
The game rewards the just, and punish he who is "that guy".
Mostly it's a point and click game with a buttload of disciplines.
You learn them from tomes, which is boarder line reasonable for some (such as the tremere thamaturgy ).
The scroll shit is retarded, but enjoyable.
They're nothing alike, basically. Think Diablo without respawning enemies and no loot treadmill because game is carried by the narrative and characters. It's a weird combination you don't really see where the gameplay itself may have been a poorly chosen vessel to tell the story they wanted.
I loved the transition in the middle of the game.
They're not wrong. The party AI is terrible and they blow through their blood pools like candy casting OP spells on rats. And then they go frenzy and bite each other.
I wish the multiplayer took off but unlike NWN1 it had no real dedicated editor for everyone to use.
Pink > Samuel > Serena > Lily > Erik > Wilhem
Some of my comfiest memories are playing it as a 9yo. Sadly it does not live up to the nostalgia. Now it feels easy and short.
>They're not wrong.
yes difficulty is a problem :^)
Damn.. it was good. The first 1/4 of the game was probably pretty hard, but the rest was great.
Christof cameo in VtMB 2 would be awesome (too bad that's probably never going to happen). He was really an interesting character.
>Gets to a boss that insta-frenzies whole party
I can't remember a single boss with frenzy attacks.
There's the Nosferatu in Prague with an axe that causes frenzy. He was more of a mini-boss, though
Mercurio uses plague wind which frenzies pretty fast. But all you need is one guy in front and another behind and you cheese him so fast.
The party AI is genuinely bad and almost made me quit the game.
Mercurio should not be a problem in a patched game. Pre-patch he was severely overtuned for the amount of experience you had at that point.
>dies twice
>uninstalls the game
Is this how people behave these days?
Now I remember, is he the boss of the Cappadocian dungeon? Yeah, he can be a bitch if you just click on him.
>the difficulty of the game almost made me quit the game, it doesn't just play out by itself and requires player input
I understand your frustration
good thing we have patches to "fix" the game )
>ost
It's so fucking underrated. Everyone keeps bringing up Bloodlines, but Redemption barely gets more than a few posts of mention.
>dat theme playing during the installation
youtube.com
One thing I miss from the days of physical media.
>Pink
Pink? 'At's a mite silly name
Humanity is lost. Nuke it all.
>tfw you've played the game several times and only on your most recent playthrough you notice dev /nulls warnings
Humanity... is overrated.
>it doesn't just play out by itself and requires player input
No, they didn't give the player enough control over the party AI. This is not difficulty, it's artificial difficulty. But go ahead and draw more false conclusions
signs of gehenna
I love the fact low humanity locks you into a bad ending without giving you the usual choices. And you are tempted throughout the game to lower humanity for unholy gear, diablerizing the snake cunt, etc.
Nay I say, Nay, Nay!
What an idiot.
Greatest fucking ruse.
Wild dogs? Nay! Rats!
Anyone have scans of magazines about how the game was changed graphically during development?
I don't have that pc magazine where I saw the game first but I remember that in photos christof was more slender and taller, everyone looked more like the nosferatu in the released version
This game sucks. It's actually just terrible in every way - EXCEPT atmosphere. This is the kind of game that should be a cheesy b-movie instead.
Oh shit I'm sorry
I can only pray that Bloodlines 2 will have a subtle malkavian prophet as great as dev/null
There were definitely some early screenshots.
>I wish the multiplayer took off
It had a core community that used the game as a platform for P&P chronicles that thrived for a few years. Occasionally, you'd even have people playing Mage and Werewolf in Redemption multiplayer.
>it had no real dedicated editor
Maybe not, but the in-game Storyteller mode was powerful and there were community-made mods and levels.
sexies fucking voice. sounded even sultrier in german.
Christof's face goddamn
Serpentis. Yes or no?
Yes
Yes. The idea of failing multiple times and learning from your mistakes is too difficult for most modern gamers to grasp.
Kino game brothers (Celerity + Claws) everytime
Well he did almost play it for 8 hours, so he gave it a chance. He might eventually come back to it at some point. But, with the availability of so many games today, if you think one just isn't that good there's no reason to keep playing it like you're stuck with it like you were 20~ years ago.
I just installed the "Age of Redemption" mod. Nice fucking timing for a thread. Gonna coop this shit with three friends this weekend. Gonna be comfy as fuck.
Absolutely not. Mostly everything in the serpentis group is a duplicate of another discipline. Might as well keep your humanity.
Ooof i did that with a mate, fairly buggy but honestly worth it
> "Age of Redemption"
keep the gangrel eye and don't go crazy with diableries.
Yeah, bugs are expected. I'd be more surprised if there weren't any.
Now all I need to do is decide what to play as. Perhaps a Cappadocian necromancer or something?
>coop
VtR has co-op? Damn, if only I had people I could play it with.
Blasphemy!
I shall make prayer this evening that (Thou) cometh to thy senses sinner
Hol up! Age of Redemption has diablerie?
Fucking hell!
The mod Age of Redemption has coop for the SP campaign.
>tfw the True Faith Prayer skill doesn't do shit against ghouls or humans
> Age of Redemption has diablerie?
Yes, you can lower your generation, gain new disciplines and increase the blood pool via diablerie in AoR.
Fuck Mercurio. I died 4 times to that guy yesterday before I gave up for the night and went to bed.
Is there something I'm missing? I buff up both my guys, run in and attack. With my guy behind. But that fucking vomit shit takes all my HP in about 1.5 seconds, or if I manage to run out in that time I frenzy and die anyway.
I wish you could spend your fucking XP to level up inside a dungeon, I've got over 6k of it just sitting there.
MoonCancers complaint is legit though.
The timeskip blew my fucking mind
Sweet! Does this affect humanity?
Yeah, he's pretty fucking hard. And this is post-patch. He was even worse in v1.0.
Talking like that to an elder who's from like the 11th century is a good way to get diablerized. Good for him Cristof is a nice guy.
Use walk the abyss and rest in the haven to level up mid-dungeon. Also, whenever mercurio uses plague wind, run the hell away.
>those steam reviews
The only major difficulty was the end boss
Also fuck pink
Oi m8
Unless VtR the setting is really different from VtM, from this dialogue alone it's obvious that the protagonist is familiar enough with the clan.
There's a town scroll like ability? I had no idea. The ability to spend all that XP should make this a shitton easier. Last time I was able to spend any was right after I finished the mines as a human.
And I do run away, but it still hurts. I wish there was a pause to give orders options, it's difficult to have to manage both characters in real time.
Pink is gen8 and probably a very ancient vampire.
Based Christof needs a role in VTMB2. Absolute Chad of a protagonist.
>and some people still believe the world was created in seven days, even though men have walked on the moon!
>The Lord completed His work in SIX days.
>world was created in seven days
Acshuly, taking time dilation at relativistic speeds in mind...
This game gives me after school feels
best part about vtm is that athiests are confirmed to be wrong and gay, epicly pwned dawkins
I wish the game had normal RTWP combat.
Maybe i'm just a retard but the MISSMISSMISS Diablo shit wasn't very fun.
while made easier with patch mercurio is still kind of rng. if he stuns one of your characters it's basically over.
Well, he IS a canonical character.
Best part of WoD is if mages stop trying to fucking up each other and decide that there is no god there will be no god.
>that zoomer cope
?
THE SUN IT BURNS
Shit, I gotta test out those Sun items. Last I checked, 40 Sun protection reduced damage to round 5 I think.
There's literally only stephansdom and then you don't worry about the sun ever again. What's the point.
this game is legitimately awful
I just spent an hour trying to beat Mercurio. Even then, I feel my victory was down to chance than anything else.
tink didink clink tink tink clank tink hacheeng
sure thing homo whatever you say
Post a pic of your inventory and stats.
Numbers is the point. To see just how much each point will soak up, and see if that same formula applies for other protection types.
There was actually an online mode in that game that allowed to RP with other people. Including a GM. And there was a modding community. Good times.
