Online is good for player messages and PvP. Nothing else. DaS should never even have allowed you to summon other players in co-op. It trivialises the game(s).
After 20 fucking solo runs you will summon people to keep things fun.

Me too. It’s even more special when you have a grasp of some Japanese folk tales. One that I was reminded about while being at Fountainhead was a story about a guy who saves a turtle on a beach from being beaten up by some punks and the turtle thanks the guy by taking him to an underwater city where he meets a princess who gives him a special box as a present and she tells him never to open it. But of course when the guy gets back to the surface he opens the box but lo and behold he turns into an old guy. That’s where the story ends. Anyway I thought both the aquatic theme and the fact that those nobles tried to suck the youth out of you and turned you into an old dude was reminiscent of that tale.

Why the fuck would I attack you first if I can wait for you to attack first, parry, and now I'm ahead of you in the posture race, meaning I can now be aggressive since even if we traded back and forth parries, you will break first. If you attempt to mix in prosthetics during this back-and-forth, I just get a free hit because of their long startup. If you attempt to open up with a prosthetic before striking at all, I just sprint away since the sprint is so fast you could never hit me even with a shuriken.
Two informed players would simply sprint in circles not acting at all, as any aggression carries the risk of either getting parried first and losing the posture race, or even worse, getting whiff punished. Sekiro PVP could never work without severely buffed prosthetics that have some sort of super armor, and even that would just refocus the game into a different type of shitshow.
Alright. What about a Fromsoft equivalent of For Honor or Soulcaliber?

use the existing 3 different set of moves: attack, deflect and dodge and if you use the incorrect counter then you lose posture and HP, there fixed since you won't be able to always guess what your opponent will use
sweeps cannot be dodged by side jump, attack or deflect, top sweep can only be avoided by up jump and low sweeps can only be avoided by back jump, all other action results in damage
left attacks can only be deflected by a left deflect, right attack can only be deflected by right deflect, all other actions fail
this makes a nice simple rock/paper/scissors system with some directional options thrown in so you can't simply one click deflect

>You charge your attack
>Charge attacks are unblockable and can be canceled into anything
