Will the Switch receive further fighting games?

After MK11, that GG collection and Samsho drop, do you think newer fighting games will come to Switch or will they skip it?

explain me to how anyone could comfortably play fighting games on this shitbox

and no, smash doesn't count

>playing fighting games on switch's flimsy joycons
why?

probably, it's not like fighting games are that taxing on hardware. heck they got fucking Street Fighter 4 running on the 3DS for god sake...

I think that there is a larger likelihood of them coming.

Even that Kill la Kill game is coming to Switch.

There's boatloads of ACA 90s fighting games, even obscure ones.

The only ones of note that have skipped release so far are SFV (because of Sony console exclusivity), Tekken 7 (which may still happen after the Switch upgrade model comes out), DOA6 (which may happen in the future as well) and SCVI off the top of my head.

I actually don't recommend getting any fighting game on the switch.
Just smash, wich i don't consider to be a fighting game.

The PS4 is this gen main platform for fightan, mostly because even a default ps4 d-pad is good enough to at lest get started.
The Switch, out of the box, doesn't really have the tools required to play fighting games in any decent capacity.

We have the definitive SF2 game as a exclusive so I guess they will keep coming.

Who said I was playing with the Joycons lol, I have a SN30 Pro just because of the great d-pad

Not OP but playing them with m8s anywhere (including during breaktime at camping outings) is supremely comfy.

Just bring 2 pro controllers (or grab a usb c to usb-2/3 adapter and some mayflash/equivalent adapters alongside your own controllers) and you're ready to go.

You can also buy a hori left joycon controller that let's you use a dpad in place of the buttons.

Anime fighters yes. Others like MK11 or Soul Calibur or Injustice I find doubtful.

Plus this, PS4 is the main fightan platform.

I just want unist on switch

Joycon "dpad" >>>>>>> the dogshit pro controller dpad

guilty gear xrd rev 2

They're both terrible options.
You can get other third party alternatives and they DO give you better options for d-pads, but the thing is, they're not d-pads designed for fighting games.
They're d-pads designed mostly for misc retro/indie titles and especially platformers.

If you want to play fighting games on a switch, you probably need to get a stick.
And if you're getting a stick, you have something on your lap taht is grounding you.
And if you're doing that, one of the biggest selling points of the switch is already gone.
Thus, most people just stick to playing fighting games on PS4.
It's all about the simple praticality of the situation, playing fighting games on a switch just isn't very pratical considering what you need to do to play them propely.

I know there' some weirdos on Yea Forums that unironically do this because they're obsessed with nintendo products so they'll stick with it no matter what, but they're a very small minority.

Attached: 34643.jpg (1000x1000, 86K)

OP here, ty user. I didn't know they were only meant for 2D games, no wonder 8bitdo makes the d-pads so sturdy.
If I can't bother with a stick, what gamepad would you recommend? even PS4/XB1 pads work with adapters.

I don't doubt that has a change to come after both DBFZ and Kill La Kill have made it with similar visual aesthetic.

Same for GBFV which is likely to get an announce in the future too for Switch.

Honestly just use a PS4 pad.
It's straight up one of the better options to play any fighting games, 2d and 3d alike.
You can't go wrong with that d-pad.

chance*

Also, GG Anniversary game is coming to Switch too so I'm pretty sure the next Xrd game or GG game in general is likely for Switch release too.

Pretty much. The Switch "dpad" disqualifies it pretty hard. Shame.

Yeah I've been eyeing the DS4 for a while now. Can you recommend me any fighting game on Switch with a lot of single player content? Like good CPUs and stuff

>not buying 3rd party controllers for fighting games no matter the platform

BBCF

Aww yeah!!!!!

>buying a third-party controller for a handheld

You can use the stand and play on hybrid mode lol

>you can already emulate most switch titles
lyl

Are you implying that a 8bitdo (that has the same diagonal issue as the first Switch pro controllers) is a "better" option?

And portability is a non-argument, no one will grind the online ladders in the bus or in vacations, on top of that fighting games needs a good connection, so forget the wifi.
There is nothing wrong with buying a stick to play your Switch docked.

If people want fighting games on the Switch it's maybe because they don't want to pay 60 dollars a year for online features.

Then play on PC? Only a Nintendo fanboy would willingly go through this hell when there are so many better alternatives.

Thats not vanilla ST...

>buy a 1000 dollars PC bro
If that is your alternative might as well use a PS4, at least there's people to play with.

You can't buy a physical copy of the game on PC, at least the Switch gives you that option if you're into collecting them.
Collections like BBCF and upcoming GG will have everything on the game card, no need to download anything, that's cool.

A Switch is for smash.
That's it.
End of story.
If you're obsessed with nintendo you'll play fighting games on it, but know that you're in the extreme minority.

OP here.
You may be right, a Switch is mostly for Smash but I wanted to know what to expect from fighting games on the long run

>you're obsessed with Nintendo because you don't want to spend more money for something you could already do on a Switch
>a console that sells like hotcakes is for one single game
>that console that has literally two controllers attached to it isn't for fighting games

How is it possible to be this retarded?

t. brainlet who doesn't expand their horizons past Nintendo IPs.

I ownly like 20 different fighting games on Switch already and I also own many on PC as well.

Me too user, me too

8bitdo released the M30 which is great for fightan

I see no reason why not, on a system with built in local multiplayer what reason would you not put a 2 player focused game on it? Regardless though I already have dragonball, guilty gear, and smash on the system so i’m very content with fightan on the system, everything else like samurai showdown is a bonus. The one fighting game i want left for the switch is mvc2 and soul calibur and at this point i firmly believe that it will happen someday.

>on a system with built in local multiplayer what reason would you not put a 2 player focused game on it?
d-pad, nigga.
If i'm vising you and you hand me a joycon and then tell me "ok we're gonna play [fighting game]" i'll look at you like you're completely crazy.
How the fuck would that work.

>worst online service ever made
>horrible input lag
>20fps
the switch is the worst console you could ever imagine for fighting games.

input lag is a Smash-exclusive problem.

hahaha
no it isn't, what the fuck are you saying.

Using them sideways? I have 2 pro controllers regardless but what makes d-pads such a big deal when the sticks work just fine?

you're joking, right?
aresplatoon2controlsfixed.com/

Why

Segmented, shitty Dpad, awful battery life, why would you want to use this for anything? why does anyone pretend it has a good dpad?

I play dragon ball fighter z on it. I played a bit of that street fighter collection. they all suck in handheld mode, but docked its the same as ps4 with worse controller. Really only recommend if you dont own ps4 and dont want a ps4(understandable 100%)

Because they're not retarded fanboys like you.
People literally won tournaments with that thing alone.
Against players using sticks.
Maybe the problem is that you just have BIG MEATY CLAWS

Holy FUCK this. Using a dualshock for movement is the worst thing about the ps4, playing fighting games feels like your scraping and banging your thumbs trying to do any special move and the stiffness and abyssaml battery life makes it even worse, the dualshock is the worst possible option you can have to play a fighting game

Dualshock controllers just have shitty Dpads, sorry. Ditch that segmented shit already, why the fuck are they still like that?

OP here, what gamepad would you recommend instead guys? Can't afford $$/space for a fight stick right now.

I think more will, as many have said, the dpad on Joy Cons is pretty jack, I got an 8BitDo Sega Saturn style pad and it’s been absolutely wonderful playing Third Strike and Alpha 3 on breaks. Great pad for fighters

Legit suprised DoA6 hasn't been announced. The KT x Nintendo relationship is weird. They got to work on the new FE, Hyrule Warriors, they jointly share Fatal Frame and even got that semi fixed NG3RE as a timed exclusive. DoA is their only large franchise that's being left out unless you count DOAX3 of all things

Hori fighting commander, believe me when i say it works wonders for pad users

>it's not like fighting games are that taxing on hardware
60fps with no drops is harder than it seems

This. Hori Fighting Commander for PS4 or Xbox One.

If it's not supported natively, you might need an adapter though, I should test it out myself as I'm using one right now for PS4/PC and do have an adapter just in case it doesn't work for Switch natively.

Ty guys. Do you know is this one is a good alternative as well?
>8bitdo M30

Don't have it yet but thinking about getting one myself. I have confidence in 8bitdo after getting the SFC30, it has good weight and buttons feel great to press on it so this one is probably good too.

I was one of the few that got USF2 and the anniversary collection on the switch. 6 versions of street fighter 2 are way too much, but alpha and 3rd strike on the go are pretty comfy. Don’t really care much for MK these days, I only played injustice cause I like capeshit but I guess it’s a good sign netherrealm is bringing it to the switch. I was pretty excited when SamSho got announced for too. It took a while for DBFighterZ to get ported to the switch, the game is fine on pro controllers and good for a few rounds in handheld but that’s about it. The online is dead and story mode is a chore. Aside from smash, and the neogeo KoF 98 and SamSho 2 ports there aren’t any other fighting games worth getting on the switch in my opinion. BlazBlue CrossTag I guess if you’re into that.

I just got the translucent colored replacement shells for my joycons so it has an actual Dpad, and good one unlike the shitty Hori left joycon.

By default, on PC and the switch, the M30 d-pad will be seen AS THE LEFT STICK, not a d-pad.
It sorta makes sense considering how it works and it shouldn't be a problem for most games, but just be warned.

Dont forget about EXCLUSIVE Avengers game.

If the games sell well yeah, of course. I've been playing on ps4 but since Sony hates anime tiddy now I'm probably jumping to PC and Switch in the future.

Attached: 20190308042931_1.jpg (1920x1080, 171K)

I didn’t mind them in handheld for a few short bursts but the games definitely play and feel better with pro controllers

I think I'll pick up MK11 for it. There'll be enough single-player content to make up for not being to go online and to use my shitty wired Pro Controller.

Wish they would port UNIST and GG Rev or Rev 2

You never know. If ArcSys gets publishing rights for Switch they could do UNIST. I think Xrd is on its way too given how the platform clearly supports its graphics engine (DBFZ and KLK If).

There's also the anniversary collection coming soon.

the sn30pro dpad is trash. too stiff, no diagonals. it's also ass in the hands because of no grips and the triggers are way too small.

Where do I get one of these and which do you recommend? I'll be using it on switch BTW

The vita got a mortal kombat game, so even if they have to make a shit version of MK12 it will still be on switch. Also many japanese niche games like samurai shodown still look like PS3 games, they can't be that technologically demanding.

fighting games run on toasters

retarded zoomer shit. 6 face buttons in cancer.

Get a logitech f310 and break in the dpad.

Smash did that on the 3DS.

Could they for UNIST? I thought that was supposed to be PS "exclusive" and the only other option is PC. I have a PS4 but I want more stuff on switch to play, hopefully they add cross play too. I do see rev coming though but aren't the Rev games the same thing with different characters? Would be better if they did a definitive edition or something of the like

8bitdo.com/

>All these retarded faggots talking about how the joycon is shit for fighting games.

Not a valid argument. Literally most fight sticks that are PC compatible are switch compatible, this is like arguing for the validity of a xbone controller for fighting game because if you really gave a shit you would just buy a fight pad anyway.

PS4 controllers only work for fighting games if hardwire your brain to stop learning things efficiently.

Attached: 1554294700713.jpg (720x960, 129K)

What's better for Fighting games with a controller, stick or d pad? I got SC6 on PS4 and I've been using the day pad because it feels right like other 2D/2D ish games.

nu fighting games are designed around a shitty pad. The stick will just give you more OS options which they are trying to remove anyway.

I assume these are made for mostly emulated retro games and 2D indies, even with sticks. I know they would work for other games but should I just use them for stuff like Rayman and not something like BOTW? Do the grips make a difference? Should I get the Genesis controller for purely fighting games? Sorry for the questions but I like the controllers look and want to make sure they're worth it and how useful they are before I get any of them

What I meant by stick is the analog one on the controller. What are OS options? I don't know much about real fighting games, I'm not completely retarded about how they work but I've only really played smash (if you even consider it a fighting game) so playing something like SC6 is obviously more complicated, for a noob like me especially. I picked the game up because it's fun and I seem to favor 3D fighters than 2D ones, then again my first real experience with one was SFV so maybe It just left me with a bad taste for 2D fighters but I'm still interested in UNIST and a few other games.

are you retarded? never play on fucking analog you turbo zoomer

I don't , try to read my post next time faggot

Unless there's crossplay or youre a big IP, there's no reason to release fighters on anything but PS4 and maybe PC.

I own a PS4 to Switch adapter so I can play shit on Switch.

Casuals don't buy accessories. If you are starting out between a Dualshock and a joycon/s, the Dualshock is better.

I don't doubt that the exposure to EVO will give the game enough presence to see about a port to the Switch since (nearly) everybody else is doing it.

Skullgirls is on its way.

Attached: 15244514714572.jpg (800x485, 300K)

Sure, but no one will take it seriously as a platform for fighters.

I have a friend who plays Smash but he's gonna buy GG on Switch. When the redesign hits I'll have to pick it up myself so I can wreck him.

Attached: GGAC_ABA_sukaMotion.png (260x279, 7K)

Sales of these games on Switch are mere fragments of what they are on other platforms, I'm surprised third parties put these games on Switch at all.

What about the pokken controller dpad? Is it better than the one on the 8bitdos?

>tfw you never dropped AC+ in your heart
>tfw A.B.A is perfect in every way and is too pure for xrd

I can't wait

I suppose this is a valid argument and I should consider them but if you use a default controller to play a fighting game I think your doing yourself a disservice.

It has tons of fighters + emulators so every other good fighting game in existence pretty much.

If only modern fighting games has cross platform multiplayer then switch online wouldn't be dead in a week. That shit needs to happen sooner than later.

>they need to create a 2d game because the switch cant handle the big boy sfv nintendototlers are pathetic

>can literally take the system anywhere and set up matches
As long as performance is up to snuff if anything it could be the best place to play fighters

Console online being forced behind paywalls on all platforms is what kills fighting for me.I'm extremely against sub fees and just drop interest sadly and don't have the energy to find local tournaments or meet ups

Does Xbox have SFV? NO? Guess it can't handle it lmao

kek you sure showed him

They said they can’t port Rev2 because it was made on UE3

Smash 4 did that on both the Wii U and 3DS, and you say that like it hasn't been done for literally decades now....

Why would I want to play a fighter on a docked switch? The only positive it has is a handheld version of these games. Apart from that one SF port every fighter on the switch can be played elsewhere

SFV isn't on other systems because Sony paid Capcom for console exclusivity. It's only on PC and PS4, and with the PS5 I'm sure they're going to try it again but with Tekken 8 instead of SFVI.

why play fighting games on consoles anyway? The PC version is typically the one people default to unless tournaments are bribed to use the PS4 version.

It works perfectly fine, i’d reccomend it for 4 button and tag fighters but not much else. I’d reccomend pokken as a whole but that’s a different topic

Switch is garbage for playing fighters seriously but I bought Fighterz on it because portable couch is so fucking nice. I could see double dipping for a game I liked enough.
