Someone explain to me why people argue over different games in this stale franchise that hasn't changed since its inception

After playing on 2x speed on GBA emulators I can't go back to normal speed, it so slow. Pokémon and advanced wars both are ruined for me at normal speed

Should have gone one more Gen before calling it quits, THEN you wouldn't have missed on much. That said, if you could play only one more Pokémon game I'd heavily recommend HGSS. Best in the series.

Just play Crystal Clear. It's the best Pokemon experience rn. Highest quality romhack I've ever seen. Only a few tiny shitty parts that look like they don't belong in a Nintendo game

Prism has a whole new world, characters and story that are at the extreme least inoffensive, fast as fuck engine in general including 60fps overworld, great remixes and original tracks and is just better in almost every ways. "open world" Pokemon is just a meme.

I played a lot of ROMhacks (which were based on Ruby unfortunately) back in the day, like Pokemon Obsidian.
I still have my Emerald cartridge today. For some reason, it never occurred to me to just get an emulator instead, so I ended up resetting my game just to playthrough with Treeko and Mudkip after beating the game (Torchic was still my favorite starter). I wasted a lot of progress, especially since I was unwilling to grind Pokemon to Level 100.

That's how I ended up being a Battle Factory bro in Emerald and Platinum. I was still playing it even in 2017. It's how I learned about competitive sets, too. I'm glad GameFreak included rental Pokemon (wish it was better in Battle Revolution).

One of the funniest was a Blissey with Calm Mind, Blizzard, Fire Blast, and I think Softboiled. But who could forget Rest, Sleep Talk, Sheer Cold, Fissure Walrein.

if you still have your copy of pokemon emerald you can just send your game to a site and pay 20 bucks to have them unlock and store all 386 shiny or nonshiny pokemon to your PC on your cartridge

But it has. The addition of physical/special split makes so many shitmons more viable, and some quality of life improvements makes some gens harder to go back to. The amount of post-game content matters a lot, some gens have little, some gens like Emerald have tons. Some gens are great at including new pokemon and making them available to you like gen V, while others like 2 are horrible at it. Some gens like the most recent have tons of cutscenes and story fluff, others like the early games have very little.
