I feel like the story was better handled than the "lel, I'm not going to explain anything to you because reasons" in the last game, but it still felt a little bit like Bravely Default DLC rather than a full on sequel.
Also Anne is better than Airy and if you disagree, you have shit taste.
Bravely Second is a fascinating example of the slippery slope coming true. The first game was mildly censored, but people argued that "it wasn't so bad, and you should buy it." Then the sequel comes out, and it's more censored than the first.
Jaxon Kelly
jokes on you, I never bought it because of the censorship
Robert Smith
It was better gameplay and pacing wise but the plot was pretty whatever. The "censorship" was also pretty bad but I didn't really count the sidequests being a little neutered being a big loss from a collect all the jobs in one playthrough perspective.
Landon Gonzalez
The sidequests being neutered is lame.
I liked Yew as a protagonist more than Tix, though. Even if he talked about gravy too much.
Magnolia was just terribly handled, though. It's like they just decided her personality was "love interest" and stopped there.
Jaxson Myers
>The sidequests being neutered is lame. Wasn't a fan of how they did it originally anyway since any of the good outcomes requires missing out on a job, though I guess I can see the appeal of that to some people.
Magnolia's character was a real shame though, she really didn't have anything going for her. Yew could've been more interesting if they had bothered to try with him.
Benjamin Garcia
Weren´t the quest neutered because the japs said getting all the variations was frustrating or something? What I really liked about second is that it takes the loop of the first and makes it better, and it fully embraces the meta aspect without being "WooOOooOO, The portal shows the front camera wOOooOO, Wonder what that means"
Hudson Richardson
Both games are awesome, the plot on Second is also great, the part when they take the moon is cool and I cannot wait for the third game. About the censorship, whatever, but still the games are really nice
Nicholas King
>Yew could've been more interesting if they had bothered to try with him.
I liked what they had. He's an earnest kid who gets in over his head due to his reckless desire to do good. It was better than Tiz being "My brother and village died. But I'm going to get mad at Airy because she tricked Agnes instead if any of that other stuff." By the end of Default, Tiz felt like an accessory to Agnes's story, while Yew feels fairly important in Second's story due to his household's history.
Brayden Morris
The Japs weren't fans of having to do multiple playthroughs to see all the outcomes and to actually experience using the classes. The original structure of the sidequests was basically two Bravely Default job holders having an argument and you siding with one to fight the other, resulting in getting their job.
Getting the good ending for that sidequest requires you to double down on the same choice you made initially in the first loop, which means you trade a good ending for getting the other job due to not fighting them. If you decided to select the other option in the second loop however, you get the other job but you get a somewhat gray ending in which the characters question if they did the right thing with not much resolved versus the good ending where everything turns out well.
This format was changed when it was brought over here to just having the good endings for the respective side you choose to play out regardless of whatever the circumstances were, so in a sense, they cut out the two ambiguous and grayer endings in exchange for allowing you to grab both jobs without suffering those endings.
Owen Turner
What's wrong with having a replay incentive? Especially when there's Chapter select now.
Zachary Allen
Losing out on jobs can be kinda shitty considering it's the main appeal of the games to mix and match your options. Frankly it's all whatever for me since the sidequests outcomes are all fairly inconsequential but I guess they wanted to have everything in one go.
Jose James
I suppose that makes sense, but I wish we got to see those alternate outcomes somehow. It feels like some of them stayed in the game, too. Profiteur gets memed out of his money by Khamer if you side with him first.
Easton Campbell
I like how the game just added towns and dungeons onto what was already there since it made the game feel more stuffed with content despite how much was reused The huge difference between the original game's bland dungeon designs and some of the new ones was a little jarring though
Isaiah Ramirez
The game completely shits on the meta stuff of the first game by turning the celestials into an actual in-universe race. It was very strongly implied that the celestials are the players (the camera stuff going on during the final fight) and that Tiz's lifeless corpse is being pupeetered by the player. He even faints as the game ends, inexplicably, because the player is letting go of him.
Then Second rolls around and all that shit gets thrown out the window. Perfect example on how not to make a sequel to a story and I'll never forgive that game for this and also Magnolia is fucking shit. Default's story wasn't perfect, but throwing it all out the window was not the right thing to do.
David Price
I wish there were more new locations. Luxendarc still feels too small.
Nathan Scott
Altair and Vega are just characters from Earth that wound up in the universe, though?
Xavier Russell
Not from Earth, the Celestial Realm in Second has an identity and characteristics that separates it completely from our Earth.
Daniel Gray
Also they removed the 4 possible outcomes in the sidequests, just leaving the neutral ones.
Joshua Jones
>playing censored trash
Jaxon Murphy
Why yanks go fucking crazy over nudity?, violence is ok, but a bit of skin is out of the limits.
Adam Davis
In this case I wouldn't be surprised if someone got offended by the "chibi" models looking like children, and wanting to cover them up.
Angel Garcia
>got offended by the "chibi" models looking like children Really, that's way too much.
Hunter Williams
All it takes is one overly emotional children screaming "THEY LOOK LIKE CHILDREN!" With vague implications of anyone disagreeing being a pedophile.
Remember, this is the game that can focus tested to such a degree that they changed a native american outfit into a cowboy one.
Joseph Thomas
overly emotional woman*
There's probably some kind of Freudian slip in there.
Carter Gomez
>make them all 3 years older in the localisation process so the youngest is 18 >still censor them ? The censorship of that native american looking class in second is still the dumbest shit I've ever seen and pretty much the reason why i didn't buy it right away and kinda forgot about it alltogether. Maybe I'll grab it used for cheap somewhere sometime.
Daniel Taylor
how do i emulate this im only interested in the thighs
Christian Watson
Aging them up doesn't work anymore. Remember, we've got journos thinking the sorceress in Dragon's Crown catered to lolicons. We've reverted back to 80s style puritanism. All it takes it someone to point out that these characters are "small" (completely disregarding stylization and hardware limitations), and so that means they shouldn't be sexualized.
Alexander Wilson
>tfw never see pic related in-game due to censorship
Yeah, besides those who get mad over the game not even play it. Learning moonrunes seems the only good option.
Jeremiah Bell
What pissed me off about this sequel is how a lot of the party chat and all camp conversations involve food. Like, holy shit guys, you have a girl who literally came from the moon and reveals that she's part of a secret society there that fights alien horrors. There are so many interesting things you can ask her and yet all you can talk about is fucking food?! At least ask her what moon food is like for fucks sake.
I do have to give the game props for managing to turn the fact that the first game had two different versions in Japan into a plot point. That was pure kino.
Is it just me or is the audio kinda bad? It's really notice able on anything that starts with an "S." Its what stopped me from playing it.
Zachary Sanders
The plot was fucking awful, I don't know what you're on about.
Bentley Kelly
>this is too lewd for americans

It's really not an issue with Nintendo anymore. For some reason, NoA got super autistic about censorship from the beginning of the Wii U's lifespan to the end of its lifespan. Obviously, this messed with shit unrelated to the Wii U, such as Bravely Default, Bravely Second, Fire Emblem Fates, and so on. And then you have #FE on the Wii U which was just fucking awful about it.
And now it seems like NoA just doesn't give a shit. I would really like to know what was happening behind the scenes during that time period.
For some reason, the voices are heavily compressed in Second. Not totally sure why.
Matthew Adams
You can actually pinpoint when they got REALLY crazy to fall 2015 to about June 2016, with #FE being the last major "what the fuck?" incident with censorship.
I feel like there was some sort of big shakeup at NoA going on around that time that we saw the end results of, but never heard about the internal politics.
Parker Brooks
Magnolia was such a disappointing fucking character. That cinematic made her seem badass but then she turns out to be a tard that does nothing but orbit Yew who is even worse of a character than she is. So you get a nice fucking blackhole effect between them leeching away any sort of substance or likability. Bring back Tiz and Edea was a bad idea. They had no reason to be there. Tiz's design change showed promise of maybe a different characterization but NOPE. He's still the boring as shit white knight. Then they made Edea even more of a retarded cum dump and her entire character is practically just about food. Also never forget:
>put 172 hours into Bravely Default for 100% >Lost all interest in Bravely Second 10 hours in The stupid fucking new characters talked way too fucking much about stupid shit I don't fucking care about in stupid fucking places i don't care about with stupid fucking music i don't care about
Bravely Default >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BS (bullshit)
Blake Rogers
Iwata was protecting us by filtering all of that lewd thru his body
Leo Morales
Undo Troix is a great pun lol
Henry Torres
>he hasn't hacked his 3DS yet
Jeremiah Rogers
Send Player > Airy Lies
Also Second's final boss was way better at breaking the fuck out of the 4th Wall.
Jace Green
Bravely Default's music is pure kino Bravely Second's music is pure ass
>love Magnolia and her French accent! Did you play it with the english voices?
Matthew Reed
BD and it's utterly retarded plot that literally depended on everyone acting like retards who don't know how to fucking communicate is fucking overrated.
And that repetitive loop that retards insist was a good idea just makes it worse.
