fall down everything to see what happens.

Camera pan

look for the pit with the visible floor, duh

>tfw dead cells had that but you gain a way to check without killing yourself after beating your first run

cling to the sides to descend slowly

Don't play 2d platformers of any sort

read a guide then claim you didn't and got there by skill and that other people should get good

but preferably this

start learning

You hold down to duck and watch the screen pan down.

holy shit FUCK THIS GAME

add coins to guide the player in the right direction

Attached: 1554950930253.png (509x433, 6K)

have good traversal mechanics like double jumping and wall jumping

stop playing megaman games

if only life were so simple

I hate this kind of game design. people say "haha exploring dude don't you love talking to your friends about what secrets you found," but they're all lying faggots. they found all this shit by accident. exploring a game with the autism required to make sure you don't miss anything completely ruins the fun.

If you can move the camera downwards it's fair.

play another game

easy, just play normally, have fun, beat the game

probably will never even know those areas existed and be better off without them

>spend the entire time since this post was made trying to cross that fucking gap
>There's another fucking trap waiting for me
holy shit this is a piece of shit game.

context clues that signify a hidden area but only if you are paying attention and not going through the level as quickly as possible.

Add a slight glow to the secret area. Or if pits already glow, then make the secret area dim.
Or make a subtle sound clue. Like say water is dripping from above, you can hear the drops fall in the secret area.

Or, just show a slight portion of the turn on screen.

unironically this
objectively the worst genre except fighting games

go right

I'm sure I'm the only one who played this game but I'm still mad

Attached: 1554950930253.png (764x433, 11K)

>game lets you see the secret area and hints there's a way to get to it
>end up searching the entire level many times over, trying a million different things
>finally give up and look it up
>"you can't get this yet until you're farther into the game, so ignore it"

Attached: 1546218266381.png (511x490, 327K)

What game?

I remember something similar happening in The Legend of the Dark Witch with the magic crystals. Having to replay the levels because of this shit

That's not from a real game you FUCKING RETARD I made it up!!!! How gullible are you? fucking idiot you think anyone would ever make something like that? I can't believe how stupid you are! You stupid BITCH
Get TROLLED libtard!

help

This

I swear I've had this situation happen to me in 3d games aswell.

trolls be trolling haha

pretty sure every kirby game has done this at least five times each

Attached: 1553726515349.jpg (180x220, 14K)

How do I beat the guy on the first left screen?
How do I make the jump after pedobear, you can climb on the shield and get on the right top block but the jump isn't enough to cross the big gap.

Literally just DIE and keep holding left arrow.
Once you respawn you just need the timing to jump and make sure you keep the jump button pressed for a looooong jump, just taping it will make a poopy jmp.

Death indicators, like in Shantae

It's like we're opposites. I've found my nega-user

read the strategy guide

>accidentally fall under spikes
>fucking guile is under there and yeets me back to the start

Buy the official guide™

Okay, but how about this?

Attached: booster.png (958x540, 19K)

>find secret wall and destroy it
>there's a small cave with a treasure chest inside
>open it and leave happy with having found the secret
>there was another secret wall behind the chest

haha i get this one, based user

Literally no one found this without a guide.

Ok

>item is suspiciously bad
>check second wall just in case
And that's how if found Ash Lake.

You mean cave story? I did it by accident and didn't realise what would've happened if I had went to save him until after I'd finished the game

It’s a SECRET area for a reason

>dude yeah there's a secret wall behind that secret wall and there's a secret tree level that leads to a beach with a dragon at the end that can turn you into a dragon and give you a secret sword if you cut off his tail
Yeah okay Kyle you lying faggot.

MonsterWorld IV do this very often

Don't contradict me bitch

t. PangeaPanga

Go back to the previous screen.

Not my problem, figure it out.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 161K)

yep. that sure is the previous screen

Attached: help.png (548x347, 6K)

Drop down the pit from the left side

The secrets in Crash 2 we're fucking great.

I can only imagine how much you hate smash

go down

Your not supposed to always find the secrets. That’s why they are called secrets.

What’s wrong with finding secret bonuses by accident?

see if camera follows you when going down

>secret that can only be found by getting an enemy to push you into it
>it took over 20 years since the game's release to discover

Thanks anons.

Because leaving a goodie in a place where you'd find death anywhere else is completely ass-backwards design. It just leaves the player jumping down every little hole in the game, and the only skill it rewards is the skill it takes to grind up all those lives you'll need to be throwing away to check.

because you can't expect to find every secret by accident. if you want to fully explore a game you have to be systematic about it, which is a fun vacuum.

6th post best post

The first screen has another route besides the pit

still have to beat Balrog

Attached: gap.jpg (1186x590, 113K)

it's cool, smash is not a fighting game

meant Ballos

Attached: Mazda3_Zoom-Zoom.jpg (504x338, 78K)

it wouldn't be secret if they told you now would it?

What game?

Megaman X5 was an awesome game.

savescum

This. 2D is a flawed medium in many ways, but totally harmless if developers can program around its faults, but many (especially these days) cannot

how do beat big bear ball?

Doom 2
The first true 100% speedrun was able to be completed because someone found out you can use a pain elemental to push you through the floor into a secret teleporter
youtu.be/irNoHfnLXRM?t=183

>DUDE! Buy our Secrets Revealed Magazine™ ($3.99) or call our Ultra Tip Hotline™ ($.99/minute) to learn how to beat the game!!!

It's literally worse than the shitty micro-transaction stuff everyone complains about now. Pre-internet gaming was just as predatory.

Late 90s - early 2010s golden era

walljump slide on the walls

It was not nearly as bad as yo uthink

Megaman X and Zero did with wall clinging.

Grab the rope

>there are anons in this thread just playing this for the first time
What the fuck

>Game expects you to use a mechanic it never teaches you about
Fucking dodge offset.

Attached: 1554959284174.jpg (1186x590, 116K)

dont play megaman x6

Trust in the bananas

Thank you La-Mulana

most games that use this have a mechanic like wall sliding, or camera panning for such occasions. stop being a faggot.

Don't play shitty games.

Fucking Rayman 2

Literally the one problem I have with whats otherwise my favorite video game

Attached: curly fall.gif (540x368, 1.64M)

This is Tom and Jerry on the genesis isn't it OP?

>keep trying to land on a platform by jumping when I am supposed to roll.

Solve this.

You have.

You don't. The area is supposed to be a secret and ideally nothing should give it away.

It's in the skill list though
Why wouldn't you check out the skill list when you start up an action game

I go around from the other way

Is this Super Metroid?

Buy a $30 Game Guide that tells you all the game’s secrets, tips and tricks. That’s how we 90’s kids did it.

Data mining ruined this feeling.

Fucking come on, there are even spikes in there.

Attached: citd.jpg (960x640, 162K)

There's literally a hand pointing down.

he has far too much health

Attached: thekid.png (608x387, 37K)

?
La-Mulana doesn't have button combinations it never teaches you about.
But I assume you're talking about "go to sleep", which is a bit devilish of a puzzle.

Hollow Knight?
Just come back once you have the endgame item

>This and its replies are the population of Yea Forums in 2019
Holy shit man.
Time to move on to /vr/ I guess
This place is fucking unsalvageable lmao

Absolutely patrician

No hollow knight sucks go home cherry shill

Those things didn't bounce like normal nitros, at least in the original

does anyone else remember that one gate section in KH1 Hollow Bastion where you press some buttons to rotate gates and one section is completely unreachable?

git gud

I'd make it so if you replayed the level, the death area and the secret area swapped locations, and the point of no return / glass floor actually takes you under the level so you can look up and see which area you missed.

Eventually once the player got wise and jumped in both pits, the next level I'd make NEITHER pit a secret area, but add a secret area in the sky.
Passing the point of no return takes you to an upper where you can look down and see what you missed. Trying to jump down to get back to the rest of the level is a death, as though you fell in a pit.

If the game detects a loud noise in the microphone right after the player sees the areas the missed, the game will add very subtle tracking/autoaim to the enemies for the rest of the level, and will deliberately delay a jump input by about 4 frames if you're jumping right on the edge of a platform.
This only happens if the game hears a loud noise though.

bing bing wahoo

Giana Sisters marked them kinda obviously

Attached: GianaSisters_Loesung_Animation.gif (384x272, 95K)

help nothing happens
how do I start this game
is it a flash thing? HALP

>is it a flash thing?
Yes.

>Probably plays every FromSoftware game religiously
>This is hard for them

come on, guys.

You can play one or two but stop there because the rest of them will be the same shit
