I'm honestly surprised not more games setup false positive to make it seem like the game is fully cracked but really needed more work that only gets found late in the game
I’m sure doing that will do more harm than good (In terms on trying to prevent piracy)
A spinning disc where you match up faces of pirates, with the year in which they were hanged.
Then for the sequel you make a fake test with silly answers, cos at that point you don't actually give a shit about Piracy.
Make the game good enough that people will never want to pirate it
Just make the game so bad nobody wants to pirate it
I still haven't paid for some of my favorite games that I've sinked hundred of hours into
Redirect all download links to the pirate's servers.
then either your tastes are shit or the games weren't good enough
Make the game just so-so that people feel indifferent to pirating it.
This is the most gayest post on Yea Forums right now.
Doing that will probably backfire because they’re likely want to play it to see how bad it is, but don’t want spend money on it.
Make it so games are not gay cinematic experiences made by California Jewish hipsters.
>If the game detects that it's a pirated copy
lol
>If the game can detect it's been obtained by any method other than from a retail disc or on-line store then every-time it's launched it
>forces motion blur on
>resets your fov
>changes your language to chinese
>doubles enemy hp and nerfs all your abilities and stats by 25%
that'd be enough to piss people off to just buy it
It just works
This works except for Sadomasochistic Chinese retards
Game is now about sailing the seven seas
How is that a punishment? That would just make me want to pirate it even more.
>Game gives you a different intro and pirate remix of the song
GTA 3 onwards has things like this,
They're like little checkpoints where each trigger gets significantly worse as the game progresses.
Ironically the game is technically possible to complete with all these obsctacles involved but requires a lot of luck and patience.
>game cracked in 0 days with generic crack, seems to work fine
>everyone gets it
>get on official forums
>"I just got to boss X near the end but then the game crash every time"
>"literally wouldn't have happened if you didn't pirate it"
>actually properly cracking it is a lot more complicated and it takes months for it to be fixed
>everyone kept playing and downloading that version meanwhile
>end up buying the game to be able to continue
Special Chinese edition anti piracy measures
>Every line of dialogue ends with Tienanmen square
>Your character model and voice becomes Japanese
>Final boss is Mao
>Shop keeper is winnie the pooh
An asshole pirate is now your rival and steals key items from you
>if the game detects it's a pirated copy, a giant red invincible scorpion dressed as a pirate constantly chases the player
If a cracked game is detected the entire game is now in Somali
>game detects your computer language is set to chinese
>formats your drive
>making the game more interesting/locking content behind pirates
That's not how it works.
>Yea Forums still struggles to quote a meaningful statistic beyond the same clickbait title
Change all SFX & BGM into looping Tim Allen grunts. Bonus points if this only kicks in by the later half of the game and is triggered by a data flag or is caused by some sort of enemy giving the player a "virus."
youtu.be
>game gets cracked and loads you in despite the game knowing you pirated
>do the first level fine
>second level requires you to do a repeating task over and over again
>said task's keeps going and going and going and going and going and going and going
>you are trapped in purgatory doomed to repeat the second level over and over again
>game is rpg
>it detects it was pirated
>characters rest at an inn
>wake up in a completely different inn
>this can either be a slight hindrance or completely game breaking by soft locking the game
>sleeping at an inn is the only way to save
I remember that if titanfall 2 detected hacks/cheats/etc it would put people in lobbies with other hackers and itd be absolute chaos. Best example I can think of but not piracy related
based
Perfect
Easy modes are disabled.
The problem with those ideas is that they either risk false positives or dumb people giving bad word of mouth about the game.
You think people who crack a game just check if it runs, close it, and delete it?
you really think they're going to spend an entire week playing it to the end to make sure every single thing works?
especially when they're usually pressed to released as fast as possible day 0
also, 90% of cracks are generic
aka they use what works for other games and won't really look into it much, like "ok, it works again" and won't notice anything is off until someone reports it
Spyro 3
>tfw you """crack""" a game yourself by getting the original uncracked files and just launching a steam emulator
Isn't that the game about ethno-nationalism?
