you didn't install the right mods. Skyrim can become fun with good enough mods installed. Long as you adhere to immersion anyways and don't start throwing in tanks and shit.

how to make combat less shit?

install some combat mods like Ultimate Combat or WIld Combat. Get one of the dragon mods. Get Ordinator or something else for perk tree. Get one of the good spell mods. You've now patched up the combat by making it actually interesting instead of left click spam
