At least on normal you have jackshit for actual effective and accurate ranged weapons for most of the campaign.
Fuck them and their janky movement so much.
Everything else is pretty good except for the laser cannon ayylmaos who pretty much blind you and nearly lock you in place by constantly ass fucking your momentum.

Skip normal and just play on hard.
Normal is pointless, hard is doable and much more fun because you get a massive variety of effective weapons right from the beginning.

Clearing Hard also counts as clearing normal and easy too.
There might be a couple of HP walls early on though.

I did hard from level 1 on 4.1.
It's fine, just cheese the very first level (or get to 2 or 3 first if you want, one of them is slightly easier iirc) to unlock a level appropriate weapon. Once you have appropriate weapons it isn't that much more difficult than normal, in fact sometimes it ends up easier, because if you only play normal you tend to miss out on useful kinds of weapons, or only get unusable versions of them.
