Growing up I loved the KH series and kept up with the lore until about 3DS. I picked this up on launch and couldn't get past toy box without realizing how fucking stupid the dialogue is. KH is a mess and Nomura is a fucking hack, kill this shit off already.

They didn't plan on making a great game. In an interview, the co-director said that they implemented everything they wanted to. They never were going to try to make the best KH game possible. They set their standards low and then met them. It's very sad. The difficulty was not based around what fans wanted, but what the director's kids wanted.

2 was just as shit as 3. FM salvaged it with critical, that's yet to be seen for 3

the game took like 6-7 years since it was announced in 2013.

but the biggest problem was that the combat system wasn't as good as 2's and most of 3's story was contained to the last world(s). Also that it teased MORE KH games.

I doubt that is going to happen. Look at how Square charged everyone who owned the base version of FFXV $15 for the Royal Edition DLC ("fixed" final chapter, a boat, and Argimer Unleashed being a button mashing "upgrade"), even Season Pass holders had to shell out the $15

That's your fault for not paying attention to prerelease info, the problem is that the game spends more time dangling future plot shit in front of you than actually giving the Xehanort saga a satisfying ending.

Well let's really talk about Kingdom Hearts II.

The worlds are trash. They are a series of corridors and are absolutely visually uninteresting, largely being smaller and blander versions of the settings we saw in movies. Of the twelve central Disney worlds in the game, five simply retell the original stories of the films. These games also continue to insist at me that somehow there are a bunch of invisible people watching at the seats of the coliseum because apparently, effort. Also, Atlantica. Just the whole of Atlantica. Literally the second-worst rhythm game I have ever played.

Gameplay-wise, there is more depth in it than it deserves, at least prior to the release of Final Mix+. I know people like to shit on KH3's bonus boss as a joke because, let's be honest, it is. It fucking is. But Sephiroth was no better. Sephiroth is shit. The only time Sephiroth is a threat is at the beginning of the first time you fight him because you probably weren't expecting there to be a QTE at the very fucking beginning of the fight, but he's shit. Now, most of these issues do get fixed in FM+ with the introduction of the Absent Silhouettes and Critical Mode but don't fucking act like KHII was a masterpiece

On the FF side of things, Aerith's entire character is just completely vapid. Yuffie is pointless. EVERYTHING ABOUT CLOUD IS FUCKING INFURIATING. Literally the only good FF character in this game is Auron, and I fucking hated FFX. And who the fuck even gives a shit about Squall? He says and does absolutely nothing of value.

OH, AND BY THE WAY, THE GUY YOU FOUGHT IN THE LAST GAME WHO CALLED HIMSELF ANSEM ISN'T ACTUALLY ANSEM? Really? Was this fucking necessary? Did you like the name "Ansem" so much that you really needed to introduce another character who's called that? No, really, someone explain to me why it was ever necessary for there to be two characters named Ansem. Sora never even fucking knew who Ansem was, so this revelation means precisely fucking nothing to him.

Different team in charge and different engine used. It couldn't be as good as 2 even if the team wanted it to be.

Nomura was too busy rushing through the plot points so he could get to his next autistic fanfic plan for the series.

The visuals are alright. Music is decent.
The gameplay is retardedly easy. For example I was playing on proud and only used healing items on the very last boss.
The story is complete shit except for the very very last bit of the game. And if you condensed it down it would be maybe 20 minutes at most.
The worlds also feel more and more empty the further you get. Like they didn't have enough time to polish them off.

It's either gonna greatly improve the game and satisfy long time fans or be a wet fart and add almost nothing. The fact that they're saying they're adding new mechanics makes me think itll be good. I can only hope that it needs attraction flow and makes keyblade transformations more valuable/satisfying.
