What is the definitive way to play Deus Ex in current year?
Vanilla?
GMDX?
Revision?
Soul/soulless

Honestly, GMDX. Basically any mod that improves the environment but leaves the character models well the fuck alone is the optimal experience.
I just slap on New Vision for the crispy textures and keep everything else vanilla.
There just needs to be a mod that adds mantling and changes nothing else, every other mod changes too much, some good, mostly bad.
vanilla with kenties launcher and DX10 render
nice texture work, how many polys
Vanilla
>bloom
Oh yeah yeah
Based
Vanilla if you haven't already played it. It holds up perfectly well and you can only know the original vision and what you might want to change about it that way.
Oh yeah yeah
In real life.
Kentie's Launcher with DirectX 10 renderer, which is pretty much just vanilla. New Vision if you fancy the higher res on textures.
GMDX is fine too, doesn't change anything to make it worse like Revision does with the map changes, worth a playthrough if you've played the game before.
why did they mod JC to look like he is 50 yo boomer?
kill yourself underage
When does Deus Ex get fun? I could never get past the first mission at the statue of liberty because it was so boring
Once you get a gun skill to Master. The game improves ten fold once you don't need to sit down like a duck and wait for a million years to aim.
Dont listen to this guy, stick with the prod.
Fuck Pauls advice to make silent takedowns.
This isn't Human Revolution.
Just mow them all down.
>non-lethal
>not gunning literally every moving thing you see in your path if the crosshair isn't green
Silent takedowns work as long as you don't use the tranq. Thankfully in GMDX this is no longer an issue.
Gmdx
Kill yourself
When you get the dragon's tooth and speed enhancement. You literally run around slicing everything at sanic speed
>not exclusively shitting civilians
These vermin need to be reminded who is in charge.
Anyone else get massive framedrops in vanilla DX?
>im ray and i quit smoking with chantix
GDMX is the way to go. It keeps all the original aesthetics but adds some nice QoL things to gameplay and fixes annoying shit with vanilla. Revision changes the artstyle, which is unforgiveable for a mod in my opinion.
50 billion dollars well spent.
It literally gets good right after that mission. Battery Park should have been the intro level IMO.
The liberty island ambience with the waves makes me nostalgic though
This
what the FUCK is this
Just get a laser sight on the first level and attach it to the pistol. Guns in DX become perfectly accurate with a laser regardless of your skill.
No way, fag. You can see where the laser goes and aim off that, but it still wobbles around in the aim area.
then it becomes about your skill level in aiming with the mouse rather than an artificial skill level based on JC's skill
why does he look like matt damon
>combat prior to the DTS involves stealth, picking your targets and making sure you have ammo
>reach hong kong
>game gives you a fucking lightsaber
The fact is that it doesn't become like any other shooter where the shots will just come in the middle of the screen, it's still the exact same accuracy with the laser, just that you can see where your shot will land instead. Untrained gun with a laser is still ass unless it's with the shotgun.
I say Master skill makes the game fun because it just turns it into a run and gun shooter, before you get the DTS, that is, then it's definitely a fast paced run and gun.
Did any of you felt bad about having to kill Gunther?, learning on the records how much he mourned Anna Navarre's death as I was going to kill was soul crushing.
This, and play on Realistic.
GMDX is ugly as hell imo. All the textures are too noisy and gritty
Not in vanilla it doesn't. Way to give yourself away modshitter
you don't have to kill him
>tfw you shoot him with a rocket before he can fight you
Epic lil zoomers XD
this had to be on purpose
A Pistol with no Accuracy mods + Master skill is almost 100% accurate. Once you slap one or two accuracy skill mods, it's 100%. If you can't run and gun with a fully accurate gun, that's on you.
So is a pistol with a laser sight in vanilla. If you mod the game to fuck up the balance, that's on you.
GMDX, just use the classic models.
I never kill Gunther. Just say his kill phrase and hit him with the Baton. He's the goodest boy t b h.
I've been playing Vanilla for God knows how long. A laser pistol doesn't make it dead accurate. It just shows where your bullets are going and you still need to aim accordingly, meaning you still can't just put your crosshair on a guy's head from 20 feet away and hit him dead on.
>live action
no it definitely doesn't, unless you're using some mod that i don't have but with gmdx it doesn't wobble
No fucking way I'm misremembering this. Does it seriously not wobble when you're moving without the gun being mastered? I need to boot this shit up again.
The game/plot will count him as dead regardless, and escaping him isn't that easy anyways, I managed to do it one time only and then just reloaded the game to see the different scenarios.
I have no remorse about Navarre however, fuck that flatlander bitch and literally if you are into mechs
That trick I didn't know. But yes, he was a good man, what a rotten way to die
vanilla, GMDX barely rises above the level of a grab bag of gimmicks.
The one thing I do like about Invisible War is the revelation that the vending machine maintenance guy actually was fucking with Gunther.
a non lethal takedown is always the most silent takedown
the scope wobbles but the laser doesn't afaik
gmdx feels way less tasteless once you disable mantling. that's the most obvious change that feels stupid, everything else blends in nicely
I've seen some vids where the Denton brothers are present and the HUD is kinda crappy, the models look bad and their animations look like they are having nervous tics. Is it that bad aside of that?
Yes. Due to being more focused for consoles, everything takes a major hit.
If you aren't familiar with it, I'd recommend Ross Scott's Game Dungeon videos he did on Deus Ex, Invisible War and HR. He goes into detail about alot of stuff.
I read that as mutt damon
Fuck off Paul, everytime I use the prod against these assholes I get in trouble. They are getting the sword takedown.
The one that got to me was actually the note that shows that Carter did order Gunther that skull-gun he wanted so much, but the package arrived only a few days after his death.
oh yeah yeah
GMDX makes the game a lot more clunky, even though it supposedly sets out to do the opposite.
Revision's new maps all have shit design and I can count the framerate on them with one hand despite having an RX 580.
Just use a fan patch like BioMod or Shifter with the Deus.exe launcher.
>GMDX makes the game a lot more clunky, even though it supposedly sets out to do the opposite.
How so? Everything feels a lot more responsive on my end.
It's one of the only games where i've ever been given a genuine sense of claustrophobia.
>Revision's new maps all have shit design
disagree, there's some really awesome shit in revision, but i would only play it after playing the original game. and i don't feel like playing revision again. but i'm glad i played it once
Vanilla. The end.
