Get the headless ape down to one health bar, then when both apes are in the arena run around till it does the scream. At that time the brown ape will run at you, use firecrackers and kill it (you might have to do this twice). Then go back to fighting just the headless ape. If you deflect its attack where it wiggles up then swipes down you can use the spear on it for a lot of posture damage

Similar to the other user I beat this one first try after dying like 30 times to the single guardian ape. Just go after the regular one first, she barely defends herself.

Geographically, it is before but is not accessible without beating genichiro 2 first. The way out of Ape's boss room puts you in Snake Eye's zone. You can get to mibu village without beating genichiro 2, you just have to get past snake eyes. Also, get to mibu village before killing ape unless you want the double ape fight to be mandatory.

As soon as Headless' brown butt buddy shows up throw some firecrackers at it and smack it around.
It gets stunned in two/three slashes.
If you're lucky and Headless doesn't aggro you, you can Deathblow the brown one immediately once the second one shows up.
Headless alone is a joke.

if you have aerial takedown you can absolutely buttfuck it
if not, confetti helps but isn't as important as it is for headless

you can tell who bullshit cheesed the ape because they're the only ones that complain about double trouble
ape took me way longer than he should have but I beat 2ape on my second try because I figured his patterns out and it was basically impossible for him to hit me at that point
