How difficult it is to use the aoe enmity in shit like dungeons doesn't factor into it.

I play all tanks and they're all easy, but optimizing dps for a good parse is objectively the easiest on paladin.
Keep storms eye up. Don't cap on beast Gauge. Use inner release every 90 seconds for 5 fc one upheaval one onslaught.
Use two upheavals in between each ir window. Use thrill of battle to buff upheaval on cool down.

I literally just explained warrior at the highest level of play. Optimizing two different dps windows around mechanics (fight or flight and requiscat) and maximizing usage of both of them is objectively more difficult. Sometimes I'll hold my inner release for 10 seconds if I know I cannot attack the boss and that's it.

DRK is definitely the hardest to play

Yeah the 100 quests before HSW are notorious for boring newer players, I just got through it by telling myself to look forward to the next primal fight and by getting into the Crystal Braves subplot as much as I could. Even if the quests kinda suck Moggle Mog, Ramuh, and Shiva are some of my favourite primals in terms of OST and theme.

They are a solo job. you can't queue into anything for it, and even then the act of getting spells is slow and very tedious, while its exclusive content isn't really worthwhile or fun to do. They dropped the ball super hard with Blue Mage.

blue mage is badly designed
it's pretty neat until level 24 or so until you get 1000 needles
once you get 1000 needles your entire kit is now worthless until you hit level 50 since it has a 6 second cast time and no 3 spells you cast pre level 50 will do more than 1000 damage. then once you do hit 50 it's actually weaker than an average class at level 50
i will say however that i thought the colosseum fights were fucking fun and decently challenging if you arn't a total brainlet but as it stands it's a very missed opportunity since you get it to 50 then never play it because there's nothing to do

Nah, they're still much better, particularly in the casting department since there's actual variance amongst the cast unlike the English cast where everyone sounds the same and half of them have no emotion.

It's worse on private servers because you can clearly see how certain parts of the game design is made in a way to waste as much time as possible to eat up your sub time. But since you play for free, some of the design as clearly aged horribly.

Yes. Every day that goes by has me more and more worried about the combat rework. With the merge of TP and MP they're going to have to come up with a new system of resource generation/scarcity while still keeping combat interesting, especially for jobs that relied on a combination of both like PLD and DRK.
Speaking of tanks, I'm worried about this talk of splitting tanks further into roles of MT and OT. It'll be fine if it's the same as now where any tank combination can clear content, but if they start specifically making encounters that require a MT and an OT present to handle different mechanics and PLDs start getting turned down because the group already has a GUN or whatever, it's going to feel like shit for everyone involved.

if you buy a house, you have to stay subbed every month if you want to keep it, and you have to step inside your house once a month

Yeah. You can still make decent amount of money while leveling your crafting jobs by selling HQ items that people need and quest items etc. Some low level housing items might be selling for 50-300k too, depending on your server I suppose.

Getting every crafter job to level 20 isn't too awful. After that, it starts asking you to craft harder/more expensive stuff.
The way to level crafters without spending much money is to level crafters AND gatherers at the same time. This produces the stuff you need to progress through crafting/gathering.

It's mainly aesthetic preference, and unlike some other games you can change your race at a small price

The game starts off notoriously slow, so you won't be overwhelmed by any of the classes early on so just pick whichever one you want. It's worth noting that healers and tanks have shorter queue times, so if you like those types of roles, I would recommend them to get you into your quest dungeons faster. I don't think healing or tanking is significantly harder than the other stuff, at least not at a low level.

DPS roles have longer queue times but they have less responsibility in dungeons, so you're able to fuck up more.

Go into savage, with 4 fights. Then odd patches is catch up shit for all the casuals. This is correct for raid. Any of them work outside of parsefaggotry, though I find DRK the most annoying of the bunch for non-raids.

WAR's maximized DPS functions are very, very easy to pull off.

Savage really isn’t that hard as it is now.
Back in HW a death generally meant a wipe. Now a death in Savage is rez and keep going in most cases.
Not knowing what to do will still drag your team down but it isn’t as destructive as it used to be.
Go join a few learning parties and see for yourself.

Level an alt class in the meantime, if you do a daily roulette every day, you'll probably have three classes at the max level when you finish the last SB quest. I've had three new people in my FC do the same, only one who straight poopsocked the MSQ got through it without leveling an alt. The rest did about 10 quests per day.

I've tried and wiped many times before. If I can't even clear the first one in 2 weeks I'm not trying any others no matter how much you people say they are easy.

So it's actually really not that good at just healing while you afk. If you rotate the cds like rouse/illumination and then whispering dawn/tether, you can pretty much still set and forget, but that's way more thought than before that's already asking too much for 90% of the player base

I've heard Ultros was pretty decent from certain people. I'm still uncertain though considering how many servers there are.

I would seriously play classic WoW, but I'm not giving one cent to Blizzard anymore, they deserve nothing but rot at this point. XIV might have a lot of flaws of modern WoW, but at least the story doesn't make me want to sudoku with the bait and switches just to fuck with player expectations.

There's tons of two tank fights that only need one, might as well make sure the second tank is less dead weight than they are currently. It depends on the time you queue. I found around 5-6pm CST was when most people starting doing pvp. Anything outside those hours is deader than dead unless it's the weekend.

XIV actually had a lot of thought put into it to make money something that comes in a trickle no matter what activity you do. Everything tends to give the same, small amount.

That said, some of the lesser known ways of making money is off of mid-high level crafted items. Even selling level 40 gear will net you a huge profit, but you have to craft a lot of different stuff because it all moves so slowly, it's just that rich 70s buy that shit for 50-100k gil because they don't care. I've made more money in the last few weeks selling heavensward gear than I have selling Rakshasa gear.

Orchestron Rolls still sell pretty good, find one that's expensive and farm the shit out of the place it drops, do underhanded tactics like not rolling for 60 seconds so most people leave and you have a better chance to get it. I sell the Orbonne Monestary rolls for almost 100k a pop on my server, almost makes me want to queue even when I don't need gear from it.

Certain gatherable materials sell for a pretty nice profit despite not being very high level, just like the items. Flax sells for as much as endgame ore and weeds on my server, and only needs level 30 to harvest. It's just that players later on don't want to waste the time harvesting the stuff, and for them it's as easy to get as end game ore. At 500 gil a pop, it's not a bad deal as long as the market holds (Diversify if possible to prevent over saturating the market).

Once you actually have some money to work with, buying a house can make a nice return on your investment. On my server, one of the biggest on Primal, small Houses come up for sale about two or three times a week, and then get promptly camped by people attempting to buy them since they don't immediately become available for sale. Camp outside of one with about 3.5 million gil, buy the house, plant a garden, and check what's some valuable stuff to grow. Growing Lavender in my garden nets me about 600k per day, if the stuff sells.

I've heard airships and submarines print money as well, but you need a house as an FC to send them out. They return crafting material for housing items, similar to gardening. If you're buying a house, consider making an empty FC first, then buy it. You'll still need people to help you craft airship parts, but you only need four and they don't have to be in the FC, nor do they have to be a high level, I think. If you can buy the parts from someone else, you don't even need a crafter at all.

Retainers print money, almost like legal gil buying, by farming stuff to sell on the market board, if you're really desperate. Turn your grand company seals into ventures and have all eight retainers spam missions to gather valuable stuff. It only takes 200 ventures per day to theoretically have them work around the clock, if you wanted to.

In general it depends. If the other Tanks are in Tank stance, I'll focus on picking up adds and protecting the healers instead of generating hate.

Yes and no. What's being described is true, but it can be overcome. A lot of people just don't think it's worth the effort. If you do stick to it, BLM is one of the hardest hitting (I think it might actually be #1) jobs in the game.
