I think there's some confusion about what Nintendo is going to do here. They're not gonna sell 3 versions of the same console at once. They will be selling 2 versions. The first will be the normal switch, now with an upgraded CPU and more storage. It will change from an X1 to an X2. This increased power will not be utilized in any first party games, because it's not enough to bump up the resolution and most people will be buying the cheap switch so games won't be designed for it. The extra power will be used to fix portable mode in some 2nd and 3rd party games like Xenoblade and doom, where the game currently exploded in portable. This will remain $300 and be marketed similar to the ps4 pro.

The second product they will be selling is the Switch lite. The switch lite will be the primary console receiving the most marketing. The switch lite will not have detachable controllers, will have a smaller screen and design overall, will have an actual dpad, will not have HD rumble and will not come with a dock. You will have the option to plug it into a TV via HDMI or to buy a dock separately for it. This will be $200 and will be promoited with Pokemon and Animal Crossing.

The upgraded power is not going to be utilized in games that already run at full frame rate it is going to be used for games that run at a terrible frame rate which is mostly an issue in portable mode.
