Getting mad and losing control are two different things. Losing control is one way to deal with getting mad. Breaking stuff is childish and/or retarded. Adult human beings should not reach the mental state where "I should break something" is a viable thought. Especially when that something is a valuable object that costs you to replace.
When I get mad I just take a break from the game. I won't play it if I'm not having fun. I assume most rational blokes here are like that.
Only times I reach the point of emotional/character/literal break is under real world interaction with stress and insufferable people where I have no option of walking away. Last time that happened I choked a guy and nearly went to military prison.

Near the end of my military service, I was put in a very stressful situation. It was the weekend, so I was put in charge of my unit's communications systems' operational state. I had an other soldier with me, but he was being a lazy slob in his room so I was left in charge alone.
At about the same time two vehicles, that needed to be patrolling outside the base, called in saying they have troubles with their radio equipment. Or one of the cars was mechanically bad and needed to have its equipment reinstalled on a different car. Every moment either of the two cars is a security threat, and it was all on me. So I worked on one car in the garage, but didn't have the wrenches to do my work, so I went to the mechanic shop at the base and signed on some wrenches. Worked, ran wires under the car, when one of the mechanics went into a shit fit about how "last time" I left cut zip ties on HIS garage floor. My flat response got on his nerves and he just stayed there and pestered me non-stop about how I'm not working by the code and that I have to leave. I tried ignoring him and telling him to go away, but he insisted. He even ordered the driver to start the car and drive it out of his garage while I was still under the car, running wires near the exhaust. Which is rather dangerous.
At some point he started trying to take away the wrenches. Since I borrowed them from a different mechanic, failing to return them would count as losing/stealing them. I got angry. Then he started to touch me, trying to physically prevent me from doing my time sensitive and stressful work. That got me beyond angry. I pulled out of the car and pushed him away. Now, I'm not a particularly strong guy, so when I get physical I tend to focus on vulnerable spots. In that instance, I pushed him away by his throat. One would call it choking.
