What's with the obsession with Steam not being curated enough? Like you literally won't see most of the asset flips games unless you actively look for them like Jim Sterling does. The "popular upcoming" tab on the store already filters most of the shit out.
I mean you don't go reeeeee at the supermarket for selling trashy gossip magazines. You just walk past them.
Why do people even care about Borderlands? It's literal garbage, just like every original IP Gearbox ever shat out.
Angel Brown
This faggot is so butthurt that people arent guzzling his newest shitpile that is borderlands 3 (and his latest 250$ """"deal"""" with the older games) its fucking hilarious How long until he sets his twitter to protected?
Jose Flores
gaming 'journalists' want steam to automatically ban every 1-2 person "alt right" personal group on steam and any game that seems remotely conservative or right wing. Steam refuses, thus every gaming site writes articles attacking steam. They will never be satisfied, ever. Steam could change its logo to a tranny over a rainbow flag and retroactively revoke keys for any game with a gun and the (((Gaming Journalists))) still wouldn't be satisfied. In other words, it's a culture war, and "curation" is a euphemism for it.
In terms of what actual gamers want, an "asset flip" tag and "hentai game" tag and filters to 100% remove those games from discovery queues/front page/etc. would go a long way.
I personally don't give 2 shits about any of that, I just want steam to fix the fucking wishlist. It says I have 1000 items on it, but only 800 visible because of shit that's been delisted. Literally no way to remove that shit or to even know what to remove. Annoying as fuck.
Michael Rodriguez
It's more like the people review-bombing the skimmed milk because the dairy company moved their full fat milk to another store exclusively
Zachary Ortiz
>food analogy
Evan Fisher
I swear it's legit autism at this point. What other store front gets this treatment? Imagine if people applied this logic to amazon or ebay "the entire market is being dragged down by these shovelware dildoes"
Dylan Cox
Randy wants to grab cash but also try to save face while doing it.
Eli Williams
Are indie devs really drinking Epic's kool-aid and think that they have any shot of getting there unless they are Devolver game or something like Super Meat Boy?
Gabriel Bailey
The hentai games are already filtered off by default. You have to go out of your way into the settings to enable them and even then they wont show up on the main page. As for asset flips... you cant really put a tag on that since its basically slander at that point.
Colton King
>go into a store looking for cereal >come up to the shelf, grab one >see a note below - this one sucks, don't bother >pick something else instead
Where do I sign up?
Benjamin Rodriguez
>Grocery store has to rely on user reviews to figure out if certain food sucks or not
Isn't this how it works already? Anyone could just say "Don't buy that, I tried it and it tasted bad" or "I would suggest this one, it's way better!" online and in the store.
Luis Sullivan
He's very bad at latter, honestly quite surprising how terrible he is in damage control.
Grayson Clark
>its basically slander at that point. highly doubt these low rent asset flippers would have the money to sue. "Gameguru Game" "Unity Game" alternatively if we're being politically correct
Evan Cooper
If a store only allowed high quality products his games wouldn't be on it
Alexander Bailey
tell that bitch to lick it up like a good girl
Jack Evans
I figure most of the asset flips are so numerous and make zero dollars so Valve never pays attention to them unless someone makes a fuss about them.
Ethan Stewart

Gavin Cox
>User reviews are bad >I the store owner should be the only source of info there is out there about my product >People HAVE to trust me or I'm going to tell them to go fuck themselves
Asher Collins
but it's not only Randy, that fat fuck Jim Sterling been complaining about this for ages as well. Literally all the shitgames he mentioned as examples I've never heard of until he mentions it.
Jordan Ortiz
>1 pac of milk €0,90. >1 AAA €60,- (not included DLC)
I'm not gonna throw €60,- at a game without checking reviews. I probably will torent the game first before I buy it. If I like the game ofcourse else I just delete the game when I do HDD cleaning.
Jaxson Ortiz
He's just trying to make it seem like he made a good decision and trying to get his cult to suck Epic's dick as hard as he does.
Lincoln Fisher
Rage 2 is going to blow boringlands out of the water.
Julian Evans
you joke, but stores already have stuff like labels for sugar content.
Heck, in France they even have a whole label system to determine how healthy the food products are.
this comparison really shows how randy lives in a privileged bubble. 1) 60 bucks is a LOT more than 1, people make bad dietary purchases all the time but its not a big deal since it doesnt cost much money and youll learn for next time. with games you only purchase them once 2) the point of lax curation is that everybody gets a chance for their product be seen. its not good that a single person or persons gets to decide what is "worthy" for the consumers, consumers decide that for themselves
jesus christ i hate rich elitists.
Bentley Phillips
>food analogy >dude trust me this game i'm trying to sell you is good >what do you mean by personal taste
Xavier Johnson
>Imagine going to the grocery store and having to rely upon user reviews to figure out if the milk or bread sucks or not? sounds good to me? either way you're still putting your faith in someone else's judgment
Because it's not a problem. Sterling "makes" it a problem for attention and Randy does it to deflect from the fact he took a bribe from epic games
Jacob Brooks
Sterling goes out of his way to find this shit since he then makes videos on them, thus making money off of it. There's a weird mentality in gaming like every game should be meant to be played or something. Imagine an equivalent to Sterling but for Ebay.
Jeremiah Peterson
>Randy fucking Pitchford >Knowing the first fucking thing about developing a relationship with his customers
Yes but this is mandated by law. I meant unfiltered user reviews left under products.
Liam Gutierrez
I could see his gimmick if he was just trying to have fun showing off really bad games but he has to be a fag with it to try to force games he doesn't like off Steam.
Leo White
imagine makingnthe same game three times with the same revolting artstyle from a decade ago.
Alexander Parker
>why put your trust in the views of many many people who have previously purchased these goods when you can just trust me, the man selling them! Is he actually retarded?
Isaac Sullivan
I just pirate my dildos and if they're good I buy them later.
Jonathan Hernandez
Honestly I would love it if everyone had the ability to review everything in the store. No longer do I need to figure out which is the best chocolate milk and which one gives the best bang for your buck in taste/price performance. Amazon is great because I can read reviews for everything, it's a shame it doesnt apply to everything you buy IRL because it would be so goddamn helpful.
Nathaniel Carter
It's more like being provided a food analogy at one store but another store sells their food analogies cheaper.
Christopher Edwards
I see shitty Russian asset flips as soon as I search for literally anything outside of AAA and well-known indies, you're forced to use outside curators for steam anyway.
Aiden Wood
Obviously everyone would like for Steam to be a bit more active when it came to cleaning the store but see how no one actually offers solutions. A curation team that decides what goes and what doesn't would easily be abused, specially when they have hundreds of games released daily. Valve is doing the right thing by giving us the tools to filter out what we don't want instead of being the voice of god and deciding for us. Plus, people forget how difficult it originally was to get games on Steam. They were very picky, got complaints by devs, created greenlight to help, got complaints, decided everything goes, got complaints.
Colton Sanders
this
why is Borderlands now suddenly seen as the holy grail of looter-shooters? It's loot was fucking boring. Yes it had tons of guns, but they all shoot the fucking same. Every character had like 1 power and skill trees didn't change the way you play at all.
Hell, even vanilla Destiny was more interesting of a looter-shooter than borderlands was.
Caleb Hernandez
Yea it's totally ok to sell bad milk, also of course people will tell other people if such milk is bad, that's called "Word-of-Mouth".
What the fuck is wrong with such overpaid "devs" / assholes?
Jack Gomez
The joke with Sterling is he will make more money from those games than dev all the while complaining.
>elitist considering randy is such a gigantic tard it's weird to think how rich he is. Remember that assistant of his stole like, millions of dollars and he didn't even notice. Your right about Steam, their whole intention is to catch shit like Besiege, Undertale or even Pubg which most likely would never have made it onto curated platforms. I mean even Magnum Opus was rejected by GoG and that's a legit great game.
Elijah Sanders
They're coming at it from different angles, and for entirely different purposes though. Randy is just butthurt that the fanbase is 'gaming' a system in a last-ditch effort to show him that what he's doing isn't what the consumers want, and also complains about the rest of Steam to make his argument seem stronger. Sterling is complaining about shite games on Steam and the laziness of Valve because he feels that due to the waves of shit that enter the storefront each day actually good games made by indie developers who give a shit get drowned in cancer.
Gabriel Cook
They want to have the power to pressure Steam to ban games they don't like for political or just spiteful reasons. If steam doesn't curate, they have no power. They're commies, basically.
James Wright
>allow me, the big corporation that wants to make money off of you and not necessarily give you the best deal or product decide what you can and cannot buy from where
Does he seriously not understand why people think that's a shitty idea?
Colton Lopez
Imagine getting money for one game's development and using it to fund another instead.
Brandon Smith
Devs don't like competition the more games on the store the higher chance someone will buy another game
Henry Reed
>They want to have the power to pressure Steam to ban games they don't like for political or just spiteful reasons Point me to ONE (1) review on a game on steam that wants to 'ban' the game from the storefront for not aligning with their political agenda. Pretty sure the overwhelming majority of the reviewers you site are gamergate faggots who feel they're oppressed
Kevin Young
And what's funny is that Epic is actually where Steam was 10 years ago, where they barely let anyone in. There's this twin-stick shooter that's been out for a while, higher metacritic score than Exodus, and Epic didn't accept it. Of course Randy Bobandy wants a store where his game is one of the 8 games available. It's the whole shitshow of "why have actual competition when you can get everyone else to fuck off"
Logan Smith
Same
off-brand coke might actually have a chance displacing coca cola or pepsi if they had a review system.
Aiden Collins
>he feels that due to the waves of shit that enter the storefront each day actually good games made by indie developers who give a shit get drowned in cancer.
Nobody who has said this has ever provided an example of what these hidden drowned gems are, meanwhile there's scores of indie games that have done ridiculously well on Steam. I think some of these people need to swallow their pride and realize the reason their game is down with the shit is that they're just shit too.
Jaxon James
why are women allowed to decide who they have sex with
>go to the grocery store >want to buy milk >"um, no you cant buy this milk, you're not good looking enough!" wtf??? why is this allowed?
Oliver Watson
I'm talking about lefty twitter mobs, you twit. Literally no one cares about steam reviews. The only people who even read them are journalists looking to paint Steam in a bad light.
Anthony Brooks
Because just like the last two, the shills are Zerg swarming the whole internet.
Cameron Phillips
Why does he need so much money? He already lives in a castle (replete with an actual large indoor theater for his magic tricks and peacock parties) from being a CEO for years, then stole 10 million dollars from 2K, and another 300K from a loan he took out, then Tim Sweeney paid him (presumably) millions of dollars to make BL3 an exclusive. Is being rich really that expensive?
Caleb Sanchez
There's only so much milk in the world. Can't waste it on uggos.
what kind of psychotic incel shit are going you on about?
Henry Smith
People who want curation on markets like Steam feel intimidated. They realize the common joe schmo can just waltz into their special club and do what they do but better.
Chase Perez
People have opinions and they really shouldn't be allowed to do that.
Jaxson Edwards
every supermarket where I live already has user reviews on their website. It's obviously a useful feature for customers
If I ever were to meet Randy in real life, I might just beat him up.
Noah Nguyen
curation is the communist codeword for banning shit i dont like
Ian Gonzalez
Personally I think it's more like "Fuck your game, fuck your store, and fuck you, eat shit". But idk that might be a bit too subtle of an analogy
Anthony White
Without marketing most games will be drowned that way Every game needs marketing, the problem is devs either can't afford it or think it's just enough to be a good game without marketing.
Jose Rogers
be careful, he might bleed or spit on you
William Fisher
If Epic takes off the demand will become that Epic must open its doors to let indies in and the cycle will repeat. There is something cosmic about it all
Kevin Cox
>guys i want a story to only have doctored reviews, because otherwise my sshit won't sell. word of mouth is bad, mmkay? fuck off randy, you pedophile
David Watson
I’ve never drawn hateful art of people but god damn is Randy Bobandy pushing me man, with his stupid looking punchable nerd face, fat fuck wife, autist castle son, and dumb magic tricks.
Alexander Walker
>We want to be the "iOS App Store" of game launchers.
Lol. Apple pulls that shit for security's sake. Everything's locked down, so theoretically nothing bad can get in. But you "curating" your horse shit won't make my PC any more secure than if I were to use GOG or Steam.
Dylan King
Oh boy it surely is impossible to make an algorithm that keeps the most sold games on the top. It's almost as if every single store doesn't do that.
Liam Gutierrez
>low rent asset flippers They're not the problem. The problem is when a major dev releases a shitty unfinished sequel and people assign the asset flip tag to it. Suddenly they have a much bigger problem than just some autist seething in his bedroom
Luke Morris
Then Epic will get shit that some fag's indie game couldn't get in because they were racist or remove some game nobody bought because it broke some rule and get shit from journalists because they don't let everyone in to whatever they want
Jeremiah Diaz
it will probably happen sooner than later Indie devs are probably lining up for that free money now and between the limited funds and epic's curation most of them won't get in, I've already seen some complaints about not being accepted by epic
Henry Thomas
Maybe shouldn't have dumped a shitty unfinished game in the store then
Evan Cox
>Down to smash with some thot >All the reviews say she's chinese spyware Dodged a bullet there, thanks Steam
Benjamin Rogers
These people are all SJW authoritarians that want to install themselves in key positions like curation and moderation to determine what people can and can’t see. It’s how NeoGAF turned into trannyera for example.
I’m an adult I can figure out what I want to see and play.

Jacob Davis
valve removes asset flips all the time because it's in their best interest, the problem is that more keep popping up

i find it hilarious when i'm at my paarents and some american reality tv shit comes on, and every single child in there acts like an entitled, spoiled cunt. what the fuck america.
Nolan Perry
This is more or less a consequence of a global economy. Churning out some garbage doesn't work in the US etc because cost of living is high so the return on investment is shit but if you're some Nigerian you can probably make bank because a single purchase is a years wage. So you end up with all these weird scams involving trading cards and releasing the same game 7 times with different assets.
Kayden Hill
It's the parents. They tend to spend their life attempting to be the child's friend, rather than their actual parent.
There are plenty of good parents over here, usually when the father is present in the household. But yeah, roughly like a third of all kids live in single parent households in the US, and it makes the single mom feel entitled ("I'm a single mother, so treat me special!") and the kids unafraid of any consequences.
Brody Stewart
>So you end up with all these weird scams involving trading cards nah, you just get nigerians/asians calling you saying theyr'e IRS and you need to pay your taxes with apple gift cards or else they will send police to your house.
Lincoln Wright
I'm surprised valve hasn't made it more difficult to put games on steam, $100 is cheap as fuck
Jeremiah Young
>I'm a single mother, so treat me special! tell me about it. in my shithole there's literally a free money grant for people with kids and 24/7 moms are like "yeah we need to get this and more, being a mom is such a tough job!". fucking hell
Andrew Nelson
>theoretically nothing bad can get in It did though, on several occasions. Walled gardens just give people a false sense of security and make them drop their guard. wired.com/story/exodus-spyware-ios/
Henry Brooks
This:A lot of single parents are moms, and instead of actually keeping their shits in line ala, "Do what I say or there will be consequences," they will bargain with their kid.
There was some video where a mom attempted to bargain with her kid to get off the computer at 11pm, as he had school in the morning. The kid's friends recorded the audio over chat, and 45 minutes later, the kid was still on the computer. A decent parent wouldn't say, "Well, if you get off now, then I'll do this later." A decent parent would be just go and kill the circuit at the breaker.
Julian Garcia
Holy fuck imagine being a store owner and you're able to carry every single grocery item available and people can buy whatever they want. It's almost like it's why amazon is super popular
Michael Harris
Right. I didn't say that the curated approach was fool-proof. Bad shit gets in all the time on iOS (although nowhere near as bad as on Android). But on iOS the entire ecosystem is locked down. The epic store isn't going to do that for you.
Dylan Morgan
Sterling is friends with a lot of indie devs so of course he would whine.
William Long
Curation is important to them because they want a valid reason for bitching and demanding Valve remove "offensive" titles from Steam. Given that Valve has stated they will allow any thing to be sold, no matter the content or subject matter (barring illegal material, like child porn, etc) this makes it very difficult for games journalists and other retards to whine about of terrible a game is and pressure valve to remove it. All valve has to say is "we want to let the gamers decide".
If you really want to know why so much anti valve shilling has come up in the last half year or so, its because the left basically declared war on valve for daring to be fine with having an open market. Basically upon this announcement, there were a lot of articles stating essentially "Valve to allow offensive material, and why it's a bad thing" types of trash articles. I'm convinced all this Epic favoritism, the "steam is a monopoly", the anti steam/valve shilling, the complaints about user reviews, and bitching about valve not "curating" their store are all faggots pissed off because they know that valve won't let them bully them into banning certain games/material like they're used to.
Kevin Morales
that's good because i don't want my day care center having some adult stuff.
William Foster
The question is who the fuck decides what gets told to fuck off and doesn't, and why should we trust their taste to be supreme?
Colton Reed
whats gay is you can only block 100 curators, then you hit the cap
faggots with opinions that aren't my own can fuck right off (that means everyone)
gayest shit imaginable when you try to block your 101st curator and steam tells you "you cannot block a curator you already follow"
fuck you steam, just because i can't say no doesn't mean i actually say yes
Aaron Morris
yeah but you see, to do this you actually have to be a parent.
Parker Perry
The kinds of people that want this shit are the kinds of people who wish they were little kids again.
Brody Foster
Also every dev thinks they are worthy and wouldn't be culled out with the shit. Why does Randy think he's worthy when everything he's worked on but Borderlands is a trashfire?
Colton Kelly
To do what?
Hudson Jackson
My only problem with amazon is that their filtering just sucks and doesn't work sometimes >specify prices between $100 and $200 >see shit for $300 ???
They need to invest more in their UI
Brayden Sanchez
Some people just don't want to make their own choices. Just tell me which are the best games.
David Peterson
If curating is so important then why did they have metro exodus? That game was the worst in the series and sucked mega ass. I regret spending time playing it and i pirated that kusoge.
>its because the left basically declared war on valve for daring to be fine with having an open market.
which is odd for them because their mentality is always "let them all in!" with nobody being excluded under any circumstances.
Jacob Williams
the fact this fag made an episode of mtv cribs and showed off his son's inflatable castle will always be hilarious. almost as funny as his wife getting banned from every sex related club and store in the austin area for being a disgusting pig.
Jose Davis
Nah man quality control has nothing to do about if the game respect the quality of the series but more like if it works at least and is popular enough.
Jonathan Morris
Start going on a no means no tangent on Twitter I'm sure you'll get the ability to block more that way, un-ironically.
Jaxon Watson
If Randy Pitchford ran a shop it would be a complete fucking mess with unrefrigerated meat on the produce aisle and clothes in the dairy section and it would shut down within a year.
It baffles me to see how Randy Pitchford managed to get this rich, he's a fucking imbecile buffoon
Tyler Sanders
to actually parent your kid. anecdotal evidence aside, my parents aren't the best ones, but they were actual parents. if i did something bad, they'd tell me it was bad. if i lied, i'd get punished. if i did something good, i'd get rewarded, you know, that sort of thing. they weren't perfect, but they did actual parenting, not fucking negotioations. which is especially baffling, since in usa you can literally leave your kid with only a bed and no door in an empty room and send them to gay camps for "reeducation". like you can legit mentally abuse your children, and they still can't put them in line.
Christopher Rivera
Proofs on the second part?
Asher Fisher
Not true. They want to unperson people who don't share their beliefs. They also want to import people from socialist shitholes to pack the vote, same as they openly discuss packing the supreme court.
Jace Price
>What's with the obsession with Steam not being curated enough? I'll bet any amount of money that Hatred getting pulled and getting put back on Steam is what's fueling all the butthurt from these retarded journalists. Steam didn't blink when they threw a fit over "MUH GAMES I DON'T LIKE" so now they'll suck Epic's cock even if they don't let their shitty indies on it.
Can someone explain why everyone is pissed with epic games? Isn't competition good for the market?
Camden Diaz
Lurk moar, or shill harder, retard.
John Kelly
Someone post the Randy Pasta already
Gavin Collins
Well, you're seeing a multi-generational affect play out. Greatest Gen told Boomers not to do drugs, not to sleep around, etc etc. Boomers played around with drugs and sex and said, "That didn't even fuck me up, let alone kill me!" Then they have kids (GenX and Millennials) and don't even bother to tell them to restrain themselves at all. Case in point; my dad's idea of "keeping me in line" in regards to sex was to just fill his bathroom drawer with a shit load of condoms, without even mentioning it to either me or my sister. He assumed I might stumble upon them and think "He won't notice one missing," and take one. That's literally it.
Now we are seeing Gen X and Gen Y having Gen Z kids, which is just compounding the problem.
William Murphy
I'll take you up on that one, they have and have stated they will specifically target games that are already due to release on steam to yank it out of that storefront, to go to theirs, this wouldn't particularly be a problem if A. You could buy cheaper keys elsewhere like you can with Steam B. They didn't revoke physical copies
Sebastian Carter
They have the Walmart/Amazon doctrine in it, operating with loss in order to destroy smaller competition that can't afford to. Valve at least was never aggressive with it's monopoly.
Adrian Myers
his post was funny fuck off normalfag
Aiden Martinez
>a store opens next to the store you sometimes buy from >except now you can only buy all fruit from that new store >no means to know if the fruit is good or bad >shopkeeper keeps writing down what you buy for some reason also you can't talk inside the store
Charles Reed
Jump in an oil fire.
Dylan Scott
It's sad how often Orwell quotes come in handy nowadays.
>"That didn't even fuck me up, let alone kill me!" survivorship bias > He assumed I might stumble upon them LOL other than that, your posit is just a slippery slope fallacy, but i get what you're trying to say.
Chase Wilson
If steam was properly curated there wouldn't be a single Gearbox game on there,
Dylan Ward
look up pictures of his wife, kristy pitchford
Jeremiah Perry
It's only a fallacy if it hasn't happened. You're seeing Gen Z kind of buck the trend in certain areas, being more conservative then Gen Y (but not as conservative as Gen X). I'm not saying it's going to continue to get worse, but I'm explaining how we got to where we are.
I think having the internet on a child's phone can cause a lot of problems, but they can keep children from making mistakes, as well. I think it's likely that things will get better eventually.
Robert Cruz
>which is odd for them because their mentality is always "let them all in!" with nobody being excluded under any circumstances. that's just what they like saying in reality they are completely opposed to that, they are always trying to exclude people
Michael Allen
What the fuck is Bitchfords mental problem?
Also, every larger Retail store has an Online presence with ratings on even bread and milk nowadays. Has he ever tried Amazon Fresh?
less games less features games cost more 3rd party timed exclusives

>Okay Randy, your task today is to design a new female character. But she can't be a person of color, lesbian or transexual, also you can't use the word "badass" to describe her. Good luck.
I don't think blatant shovelware games should be allowed on any service, its a big problem on the Eshop as well. They shit up the search results.
Nolan Smith
so alien colonial marines and battleborn are worhty? what a joke
Josiah Gonzalez
"Curation" is nothing except censorship and control. If you think media being pushed toward centralized curation isn't a problem, remember that the entire art world was upended and gutted by post-war "curation". That's how powerful and influential this shit can be.
Luke Robinson
wouldnt' it be by this analogy only some fruits, and not all of them?
And when asked to company that sells the fruits to the stores, they would say they that the new store pays more than the other if they can get exclusivity for a while, and for them is worth it.
As a consumer it would be strange to say, I want you to receive less because I wanna buy from that store
Logan Rogers
why would you ever listen to someone who was literally bought by chinks? literally nothing he will say will have any truth to it.
Based, truth is devs were crying that it was too hard to get into steam just a few years ago, now that they got their wish they realize how tough it is to compete in a free market and once again blame the platform for their ineptitude
Noah King
>random guy on twitter thread #964
Asher Green
>You're prostituting yourself out for cheeseburgers again, aren't you? >A man's gotta eat.
Angel Ortiz
Randy's Store would only have the best products, just like those he published: Duke Nukem Forever, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Battleborn and Boringland 3.
>he published That's where you're wrong, Gearbox never self-publish.
Blake Gutierrez
What gives the latest Gearbox abortion a right to be on steam over say, Fursuit Dating Simulator 2? Even shitty indie games with a minimum of work put into them may have value to someone, who does Randy think he is to decide what is and isn't okay?
Because my game that I worked on is totally unique and special and great and should be given preferential treatment over everyone else because I worked realy hard on it.
Brandon Cooper
would this not force steam to improve, so Epic couldn't do this?
Zachary Miller
improve how? i am yet to see someone point what's wrong with steam apart from the cut they take, and remember that tim sweeney said himself that the 12% cut on the epic store is not sustainable in developed countries
Kevin Reed
I don't think it's not wrong to have a not curated selection, but I don't think there is nothing wrong to curate either. Said this, Steam has removed controversial games, so I find it midly hypocritical at best.
Jose Edwards
>>Why is he such a huge blubbering bitch Dropped on the head as a kid maybe
Landon Turner
No, the only thing Steam could do for more direct competition is try to match however much Epic is offering as a bribe to the devs, and once you go down that road, all is lost. It turns into publishers fighting over devs, completely forgetting about us, the ones actually meant to pay for this shit. Hell, even Sweeney has said that this little manufactured war of his will be decided by developers, not consumers. Sweeney expects you to be so retarded, so void of standards, so brainwashed that you're nothing more than a walking wallet. Even EA likes to pretend they see us as people.
Kayden Flores
HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE
Isn't one of steams many features specifically curated content? You can subscribe to hundreds of different curators that fit precisely your niche gaming needs or more broad recommendations.
They exist specifically to sort the gems from the trash so you can discover games you didn't know were good. If you use these, why would an abundance of shovelware ever be a problem? It's not like they take up space, and if you know what you're looking for you'll never even see most of them anyway.
Are people ignoring this on purpose or what's the deal here?
Only the ones that are either straight up illegal or clearly just trolling. Remember that Gaben got Hatred, basically edgy the game, back on Steam after they originally removed it.
Kevin Gray
Devs want stores curated to the extent that their game barely makes in, but any game "worse" than theirs doesn't. This guarantees the minimum amount of competition and maximum visibility for their game.
Liam Sanders
Randy is a retard. Thats as new as the fact that water is wet
Mason Foster
>Are people ignoring this on purpose Yes. People like Randy have such a boner for Epic's paycheck that they purposely ignore how much power both the dev and the consumer has on Steam. I'm not saying it's a perfect platform but it's miles ahead of anyone else, and Epic knows this, which is why they aren't bothering to offer a better service, just trying to dry up Steam of content.
Oliver Brown
We don’t talk about features Steam has but Tencent Store doesn’t. It’s not fair.
Thomas Wood
>straight up illegal Which ones were illegal to own in the United States? >clearly just trolling So? Is there a reason to ban them other than doing curation?
Evan Adams
>STEAM IS A MONOPOLY. WE NEED CHOICE >LOOK AT THE SHIT ASSET-FLIP GAMES ON STEAM. WE NEED CONTENT MODERATION AND CURATION Pathetic
Nathan Moore
Tell her not to pull out so fast next time.
Leo Hall
>Which ones were illegal to own in the United States? Not sure since I'm not American but they probably cut games that don't follow the majority of countries, so lolis for example are a risky line to cross. >Is there a reason to ban them other than doing curation? Every store has some amount of standards. Faggot Basher 2019: Super Madden DLC Edition is not a real game, it's the equivalent of selling a Jpeg with a troll face. Or Rape Day, that was very likely a guy who wanted to see how far he could push before Steam pushed back. Every system can be abused. Greenlight gave a lot of good devs a break they otherwise wouldn't have had and some amazing gems have come from it. But then the shit shovelware asset flips found ways to get around it. Had Steam implemented stronger measures for Greenlight, these people would've still found a way around it.
Jaxson Roberts
>Only the ones that are either straight up illegal or clearly just trolling. that's wrong though plenty of good VNs have been banned from steam >hurr durr i hate VNs so it's ok!
Austin Garcia
>but they probably cut games that don't follow the majority of countries They could just sell them in the United States. >Every store has some amount of standards. Then we agree, Steam has curation, just decide to use it when they're in hot waters. >Faggot Basher 2019: Super Madden DLC Edition is not a real game, it's the equivalent of selling a Jpeg with a troll face According to? I thought you did not want any corporation to tell you what it is or what is not a game.
Juan Fisher
I don't think that offering the same as epic would be the only thing that steam could do to improve and stay on equal foot.
Companies only care about us buying the games and we only care if the game is fun and worth the money
Why all is lost if we go this road? Isn't just companies wanting better deals in the end?
Luis Phillips
I don't follow VN's so I can't speak too much on it, I can only assume that they showed things that Valve, as a company, believed to be illegal.
Mason Collins
>believed to be illegal Remember that we're on a site that has the board, faggot. They just deleted because they don't want controversy, not because they really believe in free speech.
John Watson
>wouldnt' it be by this analogy only some fruits, and not all of them? a store doesn't sell only fruit > and for them is worth it. but not for me >As a consumer it would be strange to say, I want you to receive less because I wanna buy from that store what? are you an idiot? as a consumer, i want the best deal for the lowest price. also, you're bashing a consumer wanting a better deal, but just in the previous sentence, you excused the fruit company saying it's because they get a better deal, so you're being a hypocrite.
Aiden Garcia
You're assuming that both Steam and Epic will compete to offer the better service. Steam already does that by a fucking mile, which is why Epic is simply buying out new releases, that way they don't have to compete. Even on Epic's website, their reasoning for using their store is that it's a lightweight service, meaning less features but somehow using more RAM than Steam, and that devs get paid more. Isn't that a nice incentive? Ignore the fact that both of these mean nothing to you, the consumer. And Steam shouldn't and won't try to match offers because that only fucks us. Instead of the dev choosing the better service, or wild idea just putting the game on as many platforms as possible, they follow the bigger up-front paycheck, even if the consumer is getting fucked in the process.
Jayden Rogers
"Why should you ask yourself if this product is good?! Just buy it and see for yourself!" They just want all customers to be robots, and they're getting there seeing the number of people caving in because they can't control themselves. Just look at Star Wars and EA.

Because leftism isa totalitatian force. Read Uncle Ted.
Brayden Cooper
Fuck Randy that awkward shithead, and fuck the undermining chinkstore. I cannot stand either of them.
Imagine being so fucking out of touch with the common man that you aren't even aware about cheap shit stores that sell cheap shit, where every choice made is a gamble on the product's quality.
Jose Johnson
This is true, it’s why I’ve been buying books that Amazon has been banning, because they’ve been banning it. Eventually this stuff will get wiped from the internet and our collective memory... and it will happen a lot easier than the authors like Orwell and Bradbury envisioned.
Alexander Lewis
>we only care if the game is fun and worth the money no m8, i also care about a lot of other things, like if the company selling it isn't trying to fuck me in the ass
Jacob Flores
>Eventually this stuff will get wiped from the internet and our collective memory... And to think there are people who say physical media is useless because "when something is put on the internet it is incredibly difficult to lose it."
Zachary Hernandez
Why is it always shitty food analogies? Do gaiymers just use them because the other thing they do besides playing games is stuff their pig face with food?
Leo Scott
>fucked up Duke Nukem Forever, sits on IP >fucked up Aliens Colonial Marines, lies about quality then and now. took from SEGA funneling money to BL2 >failed to credit artist who devised artwork style for BL2 >still birthed Battleborn >shills for EGS gaymers still line up to get fucked in the ass by this huckster
Landon Jenkins
Everyone uses food analogies.
Henry Bell
There’s a real problem with the kids of narcissistic boomers, who usually went through fucked up divorces and parents checking out because they didn’t feel like parenting anymore, overcompensating and micromanaging their kids lives. I really wonder what the “helicopter parent” kids are going to do when they have kids, if they will give their kids more freedom or keep helicoptering because they’ve never known the freedom and are scared of it. Probably the latter.
Benjamin Flores
First off the problem isn't bad games, but lazy ones. Bad is subjective but chink-grade lazy causes needless competition for no benefit. 1. Devs/Publishers have to pay more in advertising to get seen through the pile of shit. 2. Players have a harder time finding "diamonds in the rough" because there's a lot more rough. Those finds have been dwindling to nearly non-existent in steam threads over the past few years. The only ones that are still claimed to be rare finds, fucking everyone knows about. Nobody wants to pay $500 to find one decent game.
Blake Hernandez
don't forget >defrauded money >compromised company security >got found with child porn
Jose Cruz
it's a way to justify complaining that your low-effort game doesn't sell on Steam without admitting that your game is just crap.
Justin Stewart
A lot of indie devs just dump their game of steam with no attempts of making people aware it even exist beforehand and then blame steam when it gets buried under other new releases because nobody knows what it is. It doesn't help that they usually spend years making some pretentious pixelshit.
Wyatt Bennett
>got found with child porn That was fake news AFAIK.
Thomas James
Curation only applies to games without hundreds of thousands to millions of bucks behind them
Brody Sanders
Hypothetical. Imagine I'm an eccentric billionaire and I approach Gearbox and say: I want to buy the exclusive rights to sell Borderlands 3 for 10 billion, more money than Gearbox ever would get through normal sales, plus a 5 billion bonus just for Randy. But my store in located in a little Taiwanese mom and pop shop in the middle of bum fuck nowhere. Want to buy the game? You'll need to travel to the store in person and buy the game for 10k. Give me a good reason why Randy would say no to this deal. Oh, the millions of poor gamers won't be able to play our game but why the fuck would he care? Doesn't matter that I'm offering the worse possible service, he's getting paid, his company is getting paid.
Justin Cook
the forums are where censorship of dissent/complaints happens. what companies do on their forums (to Steam users) is totally unregulated by Steam.
Kevin Gomez
Randy might think that this is the right decision to make most bank but he shouldnt be surprised if the whole internet calls him a faggot for that. Even companies like Bethesda and Blizzard managed to overplay their hand with how they fucked with consumers.
I bet that many love the short term benefits of selling out to the chinese but this can all backfire in the future.

Here in France our Drive-In food deliveries websites are starting to have ratings for food.
Logan Ross
I'm not going to buy or even consider every game that comes out. This seems to be the expectation. I don't expect every game to appeal to me, and I don't trust the tastes of some faceless company "curator." I would much rather have visibility for more games so I can find the ones I want, and having your store be a universal reference resource for most new games is an important niche.
The idea of only having "the best and most trusted new games" is honestly just horrific. That's just a code for generic AAA shit and Randy's own games, and it's completely untenable considering how much playtime super simple indieshit and free games get compared to seasonal AAA trashfires. They would have to be incorporated or they would lose a tremendous amount of business, and in so doing violate their own quality standards.
The grocery store doesn't warn you about shit new products, and your local store not offering exactly what you want is a very common problem. Every time there's a new profitable trendy piece of shit health food, you have no idea if it's any good or what it's good for, so you have to look up user reviews anyway. People buy whatever the store decides to sell because they would have to go way out of their way to get something else, which makes no fucking sense for a completely online digital service.
A few years ago I noticed it was hard to find an article on the internet written even 5 years prior. Whereas in high school and college I did research papers by digging up news articles and books from the 50s and earlier easily, even at small local libraries. Now some websites like the NYT have deep databases but there’s nothing stopping them from taking out an article that goes against the narrative, or rewriting it to suit them, and nobody would know.
The internet turned out to be the greatest tool for mass thought control ever conceived. We have no collective history, it is being destroyed by the deluge of the now being written to suit today’s purposes. The people who control the internet can mold it to suit their own purposes and they do.
Carter Price
It would "have" to be the same diversity department hires that currently decide what is and isn't allowed on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc; the same people who decide who isn't allowed to code for Linux under their new CoC, etc. This isn't about curation, this is a red herring they're using to push for control over what content is and isn't allowed on Steam (or in videogame development in general).
Nathan Young
Just about every industry currently has a short-term over long-term profit, mostly cause the people in charge are safe in their millions one way or the other. Sad part is that it's been working for so long that they no longer care. Hell, the very fact that we started to call ourselves as consumers instead of customers is horrifying. It's like we're calling ourselves some parasitic lifeform that doesn't think, it just follows. I wouldn't be surprised if Sweeney one day says something like "Customers have rights, consumers don't"
Randy you dumb sack of shit, nobody browses steam store. People know what they want to buy and they just go for it. It's about availability you stupid moron
Luis Jackson
For the second time in this thread, it's sad how often Orwell quotes come in handy nowadays.
At this point i feel like Randy is literally autistic.
Christian Evans
He's said before that he's on the spectrum.
Christopher Bailey
Yeah is steam was properly curated we wouldn't have Alien Colonial Marines, Battleborn or Duke Nukem Forever
Julian Cox
people have been doing that well before the internet existed, they just made shit up at the outset instead of going back and changing things
Levi Collins
Is he fucking stupid? Most super markets stock way more brands than people consider thinking about and they just buy whatever has the most ads on TV and the internet.
Nathan Brown
I don't even browse the store. Just go straight to what I want to buy.
Suppose a lot of gamers are like women. Window shopping and no impulse control. Baka.
>I'll just play it off as a decision of the publisher >Wait, what the fuck, why does PC have a spine? This doesn't happen on consoles! >I'll just tell them they suck
Worked out well for Cliffy and for Inafune to shit on your audience, Randy. You keep going.
Juan Collins
It's insulting to good games to put them on the shelf next to indie trash and gay student projects.
Oliver Rodriguez
No need to be in the main page. Hell, they could even hide it from the search engine.
Christian Phillips
I never understood why people keep saying this. All those games are hidden behind 2 levels of opt-in.
Hunter Ward
If I somehow end up buying a shit game on Steam, Randy, I can ask for a refund. I cannot barf out your shitty milk and bread, Randy, so fuck off with you Reddit-tier and cliché food analogy.
Pic unrelated.

>believed to be illegal
Valve is a billion dollar company that has the best legal team money can buy. Mangagamer sells VNs and they are in the US.
Valve just doesn't want to be associated with it. All it would do is create bad press. Its not like Japanese games are a huge slice of PC gaming market.
desu it's more insulting to imply garbage AAA games like Rage 2 are more worthwhile than stuff like Hollow Knight or La-Mulana
Logan Turner
Let him believe that Steam is the paragon of free speech and that only has curation when law requires it.
Dominic Cook
I mean they are, Hollow Knight is mediocrity personified and La Mulana is just tedious.

That's because quantic dream got bought out by netease. Add to the fact that QD still owned the right to all of their games and you see epic heavily jumping on that.

They want to be the ones put in charge of curating the store, so they can enjoy the kickbacks from developers and making sure only the "right" kind of game gets onto the platform. Steam used to have curatorship done by Valve and indies whined it was impossible to get onto Steam. Now we have extremely dubious curation kicking in where some Campo Santos SJW cocksucker is banning Japanese games while letting western indie trash about furries and trannies go through unimpeded.
Blake Watson
The thing is Steam charges developers $100 for any game they want to release, which they will pay you back once the game sells for a certaon amount. If your game is asset flip trash that doesnt sell and you make like 10 of them then congrats you threw away $1000.
If they do sell, well... I guess the fault lies on whoever buys them driving developers to make more asset flip garbage.
Elijah Johnson
So would Aliens Colonial Marines or Gearbox shitty Duke Nukem game be allowed in a highly curated for quality store?
Thomas Ortiz
Yes, because curation doesn't mean quality control, it just means "these games might sell"
Asher Stewart
Free remaster update I guess. I played the game to hell and back years ago so I wouldn't do it again.
Gabriel Adams
The fact that you're typing this with a sarcastic tone is funny to me. It's as if you see having fun as being beneath you or something

I like playing through the Borderlands games, but the dialogue is completely asinine, dude. Even 1's dialogue is barely tolerable and functional, though I guess it's better than TPS and 2 pushing it into annoyance every time.
Charles Nelson
spouting EPIC and BADASS every other word doesn't make something fun
Ayden Nelson
Reminder that the only way EGS is able to cut devs a bigger chunk is that they're passing on the costs of an online marketplace to the consumer. That's what this entire shitshow of a controversy boils down to. One company absorbs the costs for the consumer and the other doesn't. It's not actually about helping devs or customer service. It's a fundamental difference in how the costs are distributed. Imagine going to a grocery store where they charge you $5 to use your credit card. You and everyone who uses a card will pay $5. Because of this, the store can provide slightly more shelf space for products. Then another store absorbs the $5 card processing fees and maybe everyone pays $0.005 more for your grocery bill or maybe they don't have as much room for products so they don't sell one or two brands of something. At which store would you shop? Most people hate upfront costs and would rather distribute the costs among all customers. Because it's cheaper. They're willing to sacrifice selection for it. This is literally how Dollar General and other cheap stores work. Except Steam isn't Dollar General it's fucking Costco for the price of Dollar General.
Charles White
complaining about writing on the internet doesn't make something not-fun you colossal faggot.
Isaac Barnes
>imagine going to the grocery store and having to rely upon user reviews to figure out if the milk or bread sucks or not But people do? There is plenty of garbage in grocery stores, people rely often on word of mouth from family and friends or people they know recommending food items to them.
