If you don't play one of these genres, you are almost certainly a casual who is bad at video games.

I'm good at video games!

I played USF4 but never got a character past rank C
>racing
Does Racing in GTA5 Online count?
>rhythm
Does guitar hero count?
>SHMUP
literally no ideo what this means

>racing
>rhythm
lmao
>no quake or sc:bw
LMAO

Rhythm games are fucking stupid, not denying that they require skill, but most of them are unfun as fuck to me

>fighting
mechanical clutter doesn't make for a good game

>racing
repeating the same thing over and over again doesn't make for a skillful game

>rhythm
repeating the same thing over and over again doesn't make for a skillful game
just buy a real instrument

>SHMUP
what?

ok. so?

Replace Rhythm with Platformer, add Arena Shooter and the list is perfect.

I play all of them but racing, but im terrible at shmups and fightan. I always get to that weird point in fightans where I can beat button mashers and have a decent grasp on my playstyle, but the tier above me just seems way way better and I don't even stand a chance. So my games become complete stomps in one way or the other, and I struggle to get better.

>Don't know what SHMUPs are

Attached: Seriously.png (1019x1019, 407K)

they're called shooting games, user.

That's the great filter of fighting games unfortunately. You'll have to force your way through it or stay stuck. Your progress will ignite like wildfire once you get past that filter.

I play smash bros, forza horizon, and undertale! I'm so fucking hardcore!

t. zoomer

Good to know. The last one I really tried to get past was SFV, outside of more laid back shit like Smash and Soul Cal. I got pretty good at Bison but just hit this huge wall.

It just takes some practice, a few hundred ass beatings, and a whole lotta patience. Also a better game.

I'm English, so I can drive a real car, and I train MMA in real life. Enjoy your games, fatty.

>I can drive a real car
>At hundreds of miles an hour
>I train in MMA in real life
>I can also do sick air combos and super moves
Why do retards always make this argument?

>fighting
My favourite genre. I play them pretty casually these days but it's still fun. I got to locals pretty regularly to hang out.
>racing
I used to go for highscores and learned some speedrun strats for Mirror's Edge. I consider that a racing game, particularly time trials. I would've payed $60 for ME2 to just be a massive time trial pack.
>rhythm
I play Guitar Hero occassionally. I still have my copy of GH3 and I can get about 80% on TTFAF on expert.
>SHMUP
Never been big into them but I bought Deathsmiles back on 360 since it had Tyrannosatan as a boss. It was fun.

I bet you didn't even get into MMA because of video games, loser.

>saved from being casual because I play 2hu
>I still bomb and continue to get clears

>repeating the same thing over and over again doesn't make for a skillful game
What about procedurally generated racing games?

As long as you never played into an arcade at least for 10 years you are not even remotely a gamer but just a zoomer.

racing games online is fucking cancer

>single player game
>skill

The funny thing is hypocrites eagerly saying sekiro or any extreme difficult games not having gradual difficulty option never say these type games are against existence of disabled and low skilled gamers. If they see dodonpachi at least once in their life, they will never say sekiro is not inclusive to these people.

Hey. It's not for a lack of trying, user. I'd play the fuck out of some of these older games I've gotten into if there were any arcades around.

>he can't even do a tatsumaki or throw fireballs irl
lmao @ u

I'm trying, okay? I'm not a sissy yo!

>fighting
I just sort of stopped caring about fighting games
>racing
Arcade or sim? If its former, there's no real skill involved. As for sims, rally racing or bust
>rhythm
I played most of the Bemani games with IIDX as my primary game
>SHMUP
I play on easy modo if there is one

No you dont and is pathetic you are lying on an internet board.
Also:

I just need 40 dollars to kill you in a second even if you trained for 50 years on the summit of the mountain of the dragon. Dont be a fucking retard.

I play all 4, and I'm still a casual.

Whew, I play Smash and am in elite, I'm good at video games

>and I train MMA in real life.
I won the ability to shoot three Hadoukens in my life.
I have only used one so far.

>Four genres that are literally all about doing repetitive input sequences because of the extremely static and limited environment
May as well put Visual Novel in there, that has nearly the same amount of "high skill".

Do like everyone else and play PCB to 1cc shit and pretend you're the shit.

Any suggestions?

Touhoushitters don't play shooters though, just Pokemon fangames and other faggotry. if that.

we get it, you're bad at FPS games

Why do fighting game players suck at Sekiro?

Attached: 1535181902716.png (2748x2592, 527K)

Honestly this "wall" where you crush weaker players but get beat by stronger players, that's fighting games in a nutshell. That wall will never leave, just move slightly. I'm pretty good compared to a lot of guys, like a bit of a big shot with my local scene, won a bunch of national tournaments - but as soon as I'm up against the stronger Japanese or Americans or even some of the British and French names, I feel as free as I did my first time playing, because frankly our entire COUNTRY is shit in comparison

Also true depending on what you play.

MMA is for fake tough guys

I identify with this so hard.

If you can stomach weebshit, my poison at the moment is UNIST. There's a really friendly and dedicated community and a TON of new players are joining because of the Evo announcement. It's one of those games that even if I lose I have fun, just due to the fast-paced nature of it.

Attached: UNIST.png (1414x2000, 2.84M)

You know many of those concepts are shared between not just fps and fighting, but nearly all competitive games...right?

Besides rhythm I play all of those, though with fighters I only got into them beyond playing with friends recently thanks to Tekken 7 which is awesome. Racing's my favorite genre, and I like shmups a lot but haven't moved past 1cc's. With rhythm games I don't really know what to start with, all the best stuff's stuck on the arcades and not easily to emulate. Getting good at playing with the random modifier seems awesome and hard

What about RTS?

Have you triad any actual ones in arcades?

i've been playing SF3S since like, two years or so, along with Tekken 7 and some other things like UNiST and Melty
>racing
played a lot of NFS in the past, during the PS2 era with Most Wanted/Carbon, they were fun
>rhythm
pretty much my favourite genre, up to this day i still play DJMax, Beatmania IIDX, Rhythm Heaven and so on
i liked the Splatoon 2 rhythm minigame more than the base game ffs
>SHMUP
played Ikaruga a lot some years ago, also the Touhou games and DoDonPachi

strategy games are missing tho, those are also high skill games, literally even higher than any of the four above

I got gud at GRID 2 and played it regularly until I eventually got bored of it and I beat Wipeout 2048

If Guitar Hero was still a big thing you bet your ass I'd still be playing those

I play touhou games sometimes, I'm okay but not great at them. I beat EoSD and Imperishable Night, but only on normal with continues.

Nigger sims have become so good actual pro racers practice in them

This. Gran Turismo held a fucking contest based on good GT players and the winner of the very first season ended up getting second in the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Since the discovery of cancels, the whole fighting game genre has been shaped into a kusoge direction of "happy accidents" and not clear design choices purposefully never addressed in the attempt to not break the illusion from the fans perspective that these elements were genuinely intended. Mistakes that swayed the original vision of a 1v1 player experience over mechanical non-sense that was good to nothing other than making your ego grow.
The whole genre got immersed in this... BLASPHEMY. From staying further and further away from a pure 1v1 fighting game experience, the community accepted bad design choices under the label of "tech" and made rules around them. We started appreciating and praising shit instead of condemning it, and now said kusogery became norm.
Demons were born from this dark era. Marvel players, Anime players. All merged from this unfathomable yet persisting dilemma of letting "happy accidents" overcome the creative vision behind what were originally supposed to be FIGHTING games.

But do not fret, my dear friends. Because one day The Big Reset will hit all of us. One day people will realize that the genre has been erected on the top of mountains of mistakes, and the same people will come to the conclusion that the genre has being compromised by poor malicious intent. And when that day will come, we'll finally embrace the genre for what it was truly meant to be.

Out of that list I only really play fighting games.
Mainly melee and tekken 7.
I sometimes play Clone Hero and jerk off to 2hu if that counts.

Agree

t. never played Quake

NFS

It was all on a keyboard so realistic simulators were out of the question, although I'm trying to get into them now since I bought a controller, and I'm thinking of investing in a wheel controller if I like the games enough

The thing that mattered in ultra online was player points not character ranks

Not knowing what shmups are invalidates all your opinions that you ever had, have and will have about video games

Could always just play GRID and Dirt Rally those play fine on pad

Any SamSho bros up for V Special?
