Too true. Though what I liked most about her was that she actually had dynamic interactions with the other characters in her FTEs, such as her boob-rivalry with Miu and how she adorably couldn't comprehend Ryoma's pessimism.
Other DR protagonists only have the other party tepidly expositioning their backstory before they fall in love for no understandable reason.

idk, maybe his fantasy is thinking Kaede is the client for a detective case? Maybe the police's suspect and he's gonna prove her innocence by finding the true culprit?

Honestly I didn't get much the logic in Love Hotels, some are straight sexual fetishes, some are just situations a character enjoys.

What were your impressions on Kaede's relationship with Shuichi?
I didn't really buy it. She says it's because he's trying to stop the killing game, but there are a few other character who do that as well (Rantaro/Kaito). It's also too convenient how she woke up in the same room as Shuichi. Therefore, it's very likely that their romance was a plot forced by Tsumugi like Maki/Kaito.

Forced by circumstances, sure, but she's definitely the kind of girl Shuichi needs for his self-esteem and motivation, not sure how Kaede needs him though - maybe she sees a "pure soul" not able to do anything bad, something of that effect.
Everything is ultimately forced by Tsumugi so that's not really relevant.

In that case it's even worse: a plot thread forced by the actual writer, Kodaka.
He needed Shuichi out of his slump and set up Kaede's death to do that, but didn't really bother with how well it fit together. A shame reducing the most active and refreshing DR protag into just another dead GF motivation. Something that's present in pretty much every DR entry.
I doubt every interaction in the game was written by Tsumugi, so figuring out what she forced reveals what's inorganic and wouldn't work elsewise.

We know that, but the point is being interesting even before she died and not just because of the bait-and-switch. The other protags were beta bitches, Hajime a bit less but still - Kaede may be kind and selfless but she was the leading girl.
Plus a girl's perspective is already a change of pace for the series, AE doesn't really count because you don't get stuff like FTEs and all.

Like I said, the main draw of Kaede isn't just being a girl, but actually getting her hands dirty as opposed to just spouting some rhetoric, directly leading others into action, she's the alpha for once after all those beta self-loathing protags, yeah Komaru did some good shit but still similar personality, Kaede was meant to be completely different.

"refreshing" depends on the person, but for me it was interesting how she was an active agent in both the story and conversations. She actually talked back to others instead of just spouting generic reactions/going along with everything.
I didn't feel she was refreshing in retrospect, but when I actually played as her. It's your opinion that the only thing that differentiated her was the murder.
