Heads up to VR anons; you probably have a coupon for The Gallery Ep2, which stacks with its current sale, bringing the price down to $5 and change. Good opportunity to pick it up if you were waiting.
Dead Effect 2 VR is also on sale and surprisingly great.
you're assuming a far more extreme niche than it actually is. and just ignoring the significance of 1.2v1.4 support being generational without regard to actual performance.
>if the "leaked" specs are legit then that makes it seem like they're targeting a pretty low-end demographic
you've got a pretty crazy idea of what's 'low-end', for VR. 1440x1600 is the near-universal current standard for resolution, with the only higher resolution HMDs making significant tradeoffs for it (HP Reverb with a single panel design with fixed IPD and Pimax with massive panels and the extreme of FOV v Clarity tradeoff), and the only movement away from 90hz being downward (PSVR technically 120hz, but only ever interpolated from 60fps).
if Index is 135 FOV, with the subpixel benefits from being LCD (and hopefully other specific anti-SDE considerations?), it will visually BTFO of its nearest / most-direct competitor Vive Pro, and probably not be matched by any similarly-targeted competitors for additional years to come.
VR optics can be a lot better than they currently are, and that seems to be what Valve is focusing on.
I liked The Gallery 2, but it's not nearly as Myst-like as I would have hoped. Holds your hand a bit too much for a fantasy puzzle adventure which takes you into an alien dimension. Looking forward to the third one, though.
akshually there's like three games that can hit 120fps on psvr, polybius is one of them
Nathan Bailey
>Smellovision VR raises $70'000 on Kickstarter raised in half a day on launch day >Meanwhile Myst devs new VR game is limping to meet it's million dollar goal with half a month to go >Why in the world is this allowed?
Good thing I didn't buy VR before. I'm gonna wait for those kunckles to come out.
Brody Ross
Smells in movies didnt take off so why the fuck would it's VR version become popular?
Logan Johnson
just play sansar until you have enough $$$ for a headset
shit is better than if they were giving out free waifus
Hunter Thompson
Lucky you I guess..they should be taking orders in May, shipping June.
Cameron Flores
I bought Gallery Ep2 and Dead Effect 2 recently, but I'ma wait with playing them till I got the Index and controller upgrayde.
Isaac Hall
>I liked The Gallery 2, but it's not nearly as Myst-like as I would have hoped. Did you play Obduction? Just playing that now, spent a few hours in and the world is absolutely brilliantly made, got that Sci-Fi frontier feel.
Reminder to disregard Boneworks as it is pushed by an actual shill/newfag that deletes his posts to mask typos, and unproven but fairly blatant samefagging.
Is there any sign at all of DE2 devs even having knuckles? I don't know that knuckles would add much to that game (all the actions are very 'gross').
I am wondering the same about waiting on Gallery Ep2, though. We can pretty well assume it'll be getting day 1 full knuckles support, and would probably be significantly improved. But it's going to be late June at the earliest, over two months away...
Bentley Miller
But that's an anti-VR smug anime girl shitposter, you retard.
>implying he isnt pushing Boneworks as a framework to support the big game VR needs Nigger
Isaac Lopez
WHERE IS THE DOWNLOAD FOR VACATION SIMULATOR? IT'S NOT ON IGG OR ANYWHERE ELSE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Anthony Baker
>VR is a fad which will die without a killer app and Boneworks certainly isn't it >obviously pushing Boneworks It's OK user. There's room in the world for everyone, even the very stupid people.
why do you care? the first was a stupid nonsense non-game.
Oliver Bell
Yeah but it was still fun you dill pickle fuck
Brayden Anderson
No Man's Sky VR looks neat. Boneworks looks neat.
I hope Index is under $800 for the kit.
Dominic Morgan
it almost surely will be. probably around $600, +/- $50.
Leo Torres
What looks neat to you about Boneworks over another VR sandbox? Can you name any other ones that are pushed here on a relatively common basis or is Boneworks it?
>Claims it's an anime shitposter >Anime shitposter deletes their own posts >Claims anime shitposter is a moderator actively creating notvidya discussion/bait >Posts anime while shitposting and defending Boneworks where have I seen this before? Before you know it, you'll be purposefully making typos and pretending to be even more retarded to poorly mask the samefagging
>What looks neat to you about Boneworks over another VR sandbox?
There doesn't seem to be any other VR shooters that are fully physically realized, and have traditional joystick movement.
That specific combination of stuff is what I've always wanted from VR and I've long been disappointed by the proliferation of teleporting movement in stuff.
David Fisher
Boneworks dev had said this is not a fully realised shooter, rather a framework for others to make fully realized projects on whose marketing is aided by an original content donut steal story more or less. Onward on the other hand is a shooter where I can throw knives at people to murder them and steal their magazines/clips out now, you might want to check that out.
Aiden Miller
>Boneworks dev had said this is not a fully realised shooter
Reading comprehension. "Physically" Everything is "physically" interactive.
William Wood
Everything but the static parts of the map, right? The props and decorations in essence are what's interactive and this isn't bringing anything new to the table in my opinion and buddies who I've shown this to.
Jeremiah Perry
>It's OK user. There's room in the world for everyone, even the very stupid people. E-even me, user???
The static parts of the map are still physically interactive. You can grab and climb on them and hang from them and catch yourself if you're falling, etc.
I don't know why you're so butthurt about my interest in Boneworks.
Don't use words you don't understand.
Brandon Clark
When is PSVR going have some decent fucking controllers? The base model PS4 and the shitty ass Move controllers are really holding this platform back from being as good as PCVR.
>What looks neat to you about Boneworks over another VR sandbox? It's not a sandbox at all. It is a linear narrative FPS game. What's neat about it are it's specific mechanics, which I sincerely think you probably just don't understand because you're too stupid. It's a fully (or almost fully) physics-driven VR FPS (exciting in a general sense because it is a potential 'solution' to previously universal games-physics problems, ie. penetration errors due to necessarily kinematic player inputs) pulling in a lot of proven concepts from other games (each entirely focused on its one specific concept) and appearing to do most of them competently, simultaneously.
>Can you name any other ones that are pushed here on a relatively common basis I honestly don't know what you're referring to. The only VR games discussed here at all are H3VR, Pavlov, Gorn, Blade and Sorcery etc. ultra-popular staples, porn games, and whatever the current FOTM rhythm game is.
Aaron Allen
Probably not. What's your specs and how do they look on the Oculus/Vive/SteamVR Benchmark test?
Caleb Lee
>Dude, other surfaces are able to act as ladders and you can swing from a rope in VR Bruh, this is a sandbox from a company that has a track record of investing money into advertising on social media and long been accused of actually hiring shills as a part of the aggressive advertising. Don't get your hopes up. My main interest comes from this "game" (see also; thrown together sandbox an user made a working demo of in a Boneworks thread to prove a point) and the people behind it having built up a reputation as contributing to the cancer infesting this board for sweet dollarydoos. It deserves to suck and through shitposting people need to be meme'd into hating it and others who tread their path.
it's got the same 970 minspec as all VR has had since the Rift and Vive. regardless of that, the headset is just a monitor, user (especially with lighthouse tracking which takes absolutely negligible CPU). you can run nearly any HMD on any PC with the appropriate connections. the question is what if any games you'll be able to run.
Hudson Peterson
>Bruh, this is a sandbox from a company that has a track record of investing money into advertising on social media and long been accused of actually hiring shills as a part of the aggressive advertising. Why are you mad that they made something that looks fun?
Hell, even Valve is interested in it. The devs even gave Valve a build which showed up in their masterlist, presumably so they could toy around and look at it.
>Bruh, this is a sandbox from a company that has a track record of investing money into advertising on social media and long been accused of actually hiring shills as a part of the aggressive advertising. source needed >the people behind it having built up a reputation as contributing to the cancer infesting this board for sweet dollarydoos. are you calling videogame discussion the cancer infesting this board? >It deserves to suck and through shitposting people need to be meme'd into hating it and others who tread their path. please go back to /soc/ or the other thread we don't name on the other vidya board.
Ryan Anderson
where is the vr is a meme fad that is alreayd over post
Carter James
It doesn't look fun, it looks like another forgettable vaporware tier thing that some nigger keeps saying "Valve's in" based off of he-said-she-said on the internet, and again, based around a company who is known to aggressively market and pay money to do so. Valve has responded with nothing and when pressed for evidence the dipshit who made these claims last time refused to show anything concrete or take 5 minutes to shit out a twitter meme to reinforce himself.
Carter Butler
I can run most things, but if the leap to the new model isn't a big one is it a better idea to just buy a wireless module for the old model?
>accused of actually hiring shills as a part of the aggressive advertising can confirm kek
Daniel Smith
This kills the shill. I'm calling thinly veiled threads, be them to get light porn posting or shilling rolling is a mixture of AIDS and cancer that every person who posts in unsaged deserves to be put in front of a firing line and shot for to improve the site quality overnight.
Nolan Evans
you've got a fucking 1080, you're fine. jesus christ. >if the leap to the new model isn't a big one is it a better idea to just buy a wireless module for the old model it depends which model you're talking about and how good the Index actually is, which we don't really know shit about, yet. for all we know Index may be natively wireless. nothing to do but just wait for May 1st.
Joseph Parker
I don't have a PC and I'm about to buy a new laptop(old one died) How dumb would it be to buy a VR ready laptop?
Easton Price
I repeat, go back to wherever you came from. The only cancer here is you.
>How dumb would it be to buy a VR ready laptop? You might as well just waste your money on a Quest.
Hunter Bell
depends on what kind of wireless support index has. right now a backpack VR with a capable laptop is the best and simplest way to do wireless, but this pretty much has to change at some point. and gaming laptops are a pretty big meme, otherwise.
Zachary Lewis
By the time all the fun bleeds out of shitposting about Boneworks the second it's mentioned any time and I spot it coupled the game actually being shilled it'll of already flopped and become a name as the word you drop to decimate a VR thread. Meme it until it fucking dies in chan culture.
Depends on your budget and if you absolutely need to have a gaming laptop, like if you travel a lot.
Matthew Williams
Do you think they'll be a full body tracking alternative for the Index when it comes out or will I be stuck dealing with HTC's 300 dollar sensor bullshit?
i want to fly thru my operating system and see all the checks and calls and kernal elements and modules and stuff - everything flying thru space and i can throw my hand in there and fuck everything up
>No vr operating system Damn, that'd be neat. I'd dig something like that 5 or so years in the future when I get some kind of face air regulation going on in my headset. The Oculus get's my face really sweaty and uncomfortable sometimes.
Camden Foster
>posts image of faggot anime poster who is anti-VR >claims he is somehow pushing Boneworks despite his image being clearly the opposite of that user are you okay?
Parker Howard
>Node
Austin Bell
you mean to tell me the 0.00000000001 of people who own VR tech are here posting on a 4chans
Bentley Jackson
It's more likely than them actually playing VR, it's a cumbersome experience at best.
Jayden Perry
probably inflating nigger numbers with those google cardboard things lmao
VR will never work without a cheap pricetag, Wireless and that's pretty much it. I have no fucking idea why they keep ramping up the graphic resolution for and just releasing the bare minimum for a revenue stream.
Noah Clark
hahahaha
Bentley Thomas
>>VR will never work without a cheap pricetag, Wireless and that's pretty much it. Wireless is the biggest fucking meme ever. Either you get terrible resolution, or you get awful latency. Neither are reasonable options when you can just put a single wire into a very inexpensive pulley system and never have to worry about it.
As for why companies keep releasing the bare minimum, it's because nothing has taken off yet. It's like competing over scraps, the market massively underperformed because the amount of disposable income was massively overestimated due to hardware sales to bitcoin retards.
Alexander Butler
>blew $800 on the vive pro >now this memeshit is coming out >tfw I'm probably still gonna buy it anyway I love VR but fuck me it's a moneysink. Doesn't help that all of the games are fucking expensive despite having little in terms of content.
>Wireless is the biggest fucking meme ever. Either you get terrible resolution, or you get awful latency. Neither are reasonable options when you can just put a single wire into a very inexpensive pulley system and never have to worry about it.
Then it will never work.
>As for why companies keep releasing the bare minimum, it's because nothing has taken off yet. It's like competing over scraps, the market massively underperformed because the amount of disposable income was massively overestimated due to hardware sales to bitcoin retards.
>>blew $800 on the vive pro Thats your own fault. Vive Pro is a fucking meme headset.
Bentley Lopez
ALL these things are fucking meme unless it goes wireless and cheap.
Gavin Walker
>Then it will never work. Current VR will eventually "work". Second hand headsets will become cheap enough with enough features to become appealing to people with common sense, and we'll wind up with a decent community and maybe a handful of indie games that aren't total dogshit.
If Sony push for a PSVR2 bundled with every PS5, and vastly upgrade the quality to Vive level, I think there's a chance it could work. There's also a bigger chance it could tank Sony into the fucking ground like the Kinect did with Xbone, and they'll release a VR-free version a year later and drop all support for it.
What is even impressive about Boneworks? Anything interesting seems to be from the knuckles themselves.
Nathaniel Perry
i think gun handling and nothing else
it is a tech demo
Adam Thomas
get something with 1060 at least, but even that is scraping the bottom of recommended specs so I'd aim higher you will spend 50% more for same power a desktop would have though
Nathaniel Gutierrez
Retards
Elijah Miller
>If Sony push for a PSVR2 bundled with every PS5 This will never happen. Production cost of a headset is much higher than stupid Kinect, they will not give it away for free nor the y will increase the price of PS5 for a feature not everyone wants. It will be optional just like PSVR was
Evan Cooper
nigger shill
Christopher Brooks
>why don't Cyan just make an actual VR Myst? What's wrong with the games they're developing now?
