It's divided in two camps of people having issues with Reach:

- the first being those who are mad that a lot of stuff in Fall of Reach was retconned or ignored in the game (and the book is amazing but we all know the game always takes priority over the books as far as canon goes)

- and then people mad about armor abilities, thankfully I mainly played custom games with armorlock, sprint, jetpacks, etc...disabled

Armor abilities just added another unique level to the gameplay while still feeling and playing like halo.

I honestly like 5s forge better, not that the game is good or anything. But you can actually script objects and color things as well, and the weapon/vehicle variants bring in a lot of possibilities.

Killing off main characters in off media isn't "appropriate". Much less in the convoluted fuckfest with established characters acting totally different from what was shown in the game.

It's hard to consider a blank slate as a main character. It was a really neat way to put the player into the story but I wouldn't consider him deserving of much more. Maybe just keeping him alive in general would have been nice but beyond that I don't see why he'd require an in game death.

It is a good game. In fact, it does some things a lot better than the other Halo games, like armor customization and a improved forge mode. The art style was on point as well. However, there are things they did in Reach that ultimately greatly harmed the game, such as the armor powers being completely shit and the reticle bloom. If it didn't have these flaws the game would have been almost perfect.

I'm mad at Reach because the campaign is an exercise in cockteasing without ever following through.
The space level was short and limited as fuck. That bigass land battle that was shown in the trailers and at the beginning of Tip of the Spear was completely ignored. This game teases Scarabs THE ENTIRE FUCKING CAMPAIGN and then never lets you fight them. Bungie didn't even code the motherfuckers properly. Speaking of improper coding, what the fuck was up with Brute Chieftains not knowing how to use their own gravity hammers? That shit was stupid.
Having Spartan squadmates meant absolutely fucking nothing in the long run, basically the equivalent of Halo 2 Sergeant Johnson, where they can't die, but they sure as hell aren't helping out in fights.
It feels like Halo 2 in terms of how much cut content there was, but Halo 2 made up for it by having super fucking memorable levels, at least mostly. The Reach campaign is still more replayable than 4 and 5, but that's not exactly setting a high bar.

Most of it is just over designing things. But In the books the Sangheili are struggling to maintain armaments so that might explain some differences and the lack of under armor. But the biology change is beyond logic

343 Studios hired a bunch of artists and designers who think that having "rougher" and more edgy designed aliens is new a change that Halo needs for the franchise. My biggest issue is the Elites for example don't feel like actual Elites. They are quite literally more like Brutes, this comes down not only from the changes in the aesthetics of their armors in Halo 5 but also the way they have them voiced, how their arms are so much larger now and stumpier with stocky body builds and wider masses. They lack the natural sort of fluidity and grace the Elites had in previous games including Reach. I get from a lore perspective that 4 and 5 are set after the Great Schism and the Covenant Civil War and the the genocide of humanity being stopped. But holy fuck, at no point should that correlate to Elite warlords who were all former high ranking Covenant soldiers and officials like Ship or Fleet Masters and former Supreme Commanders, not being able to give their followers proper armor from their own stores and armories. Elites running around armor that doesn't have undersuits and gigantic helmets seem odd.

Its all just intolerable to me.

Armor powers are fine and the reticule bloom was purely cosmetic. The weapons always had climbing spread since Halo CE, it just wasn't visually represented.

Everyone who played Halo CE for xbox when it was relevant wanted new and interesting stuff like the armor powers in Halo 2. It failed deliver and Reach picked up the ball years later.

I don't get why people are even excited for MCC in a multiplayer sense.

The fact that you can't just pick a game and play multiplayer for that game the way it was intended ruins all hope of the multiplayer being good. Random games being chosen during matchmaking and then people voting which one is played is the most utterly retarded and backwards system imaginable.

I actually like having matchmaking as an option, provided it's for a single game at a time. Being able to pick a playlist you like (like team slayer or big team battle or whatever) for the game you like and just being able to play it is not the same as "24/7 big team battle on x halo 3 map) it's just shit.

everytime someone calls reach a bad game are the only reasons they ever cite making it clear they're a clueless who entered at halo 2/3, a 343 shill, or a brainlet who was indoctrinated by the 343 shills who were hired to hype the release of halo 4/5/mcc. Armor abilities are the natural evolution of Halo 3's equipment (itself feeling very rushed and unfinished despite being conceived very early in development, it's clear the pressure to release didn't give them time to polish it at all) and are entirely optional with the sole exception of the jetpack being required for one campaign mission. Reticle bloom was purely cosmetic and they even added a gamemode which disabled weapon spread altogether.

The actual problems reach has? Shitty framerate due to hardware limitations (only a noticeable difference to other halo titles during cutscenes), changes to armor customization post-beta, and being the last Halo game ever made.

What pisses me off more than Reachfags calling Reach the best in the series, is Reachfags that shit on Halo 4's campaign and Halo 5's multiplayer yet try to defend the bullshit broken ass gameplay of Reach to get no dick sucking Bungie tranny points. Stealth elites were really just minors with active camo instead of shields and were actually pretty rare in gameplay, encountered mostly as map set piece corpses. To make this even more confusing you could also fight spec ops elites who had active camo.

That's not how matchmaking in MCC works anymore.
You choose which games you'd like to play, and what modes you want to play on.
So, you can choose to be put into games in CE-3, or just CE, or just 2/2A, or just 3. Or 4 if you hate yourself.

That's definitely better, and I'll just have to live with it because there's definitely no hope of just having the multiplayer of each game the way it was.

Every game in the series is better than Reach, the day that game brought you faggots to Halo is what damaged the community. You're the faggots that started with Halo 1 and somehow thinks Reach is anywhere near close to it. I started with Halo 1 as well but Reach played like shit in comparison to Halo 1.

Reach has almost nothing good about it, Halo 5 has a better Forge and Halo Infinite may be the game that beats this pile of shit's armor customization.
