Whats's your honest opinion on Resident Evil 4 Yea Forums?
it's shit
RE was never good.
very good
It's the best Resident Evil by far, and is a top 5 all time great game.
It was very good. Was
Good game, but overrated. I personally don't understand why it's been considered THAT good for so long.
It’s remained beloved because its a extremely well designed game. The pacing is absolutely perfect & rivals the likes of OoT & ALTTP
fun once, high production quality, annoying camera, over-rated, railroad. biggest complaint is its fanboys. lab > castle > village
the scaling difficulty goes a bit too far, there should at least be some sort of reward for getting to the top of it instead of just punishment like Godhand does
Why did people stop considering Half-Life 2 a top 15 game after 2006?
Good Game.
Played it last year for the first time, it still holds up surprisingly.
Pretty good. Boss fights feel really dated though.
>Run around until the boss reveals its giant glowing weakpoint
>Shoot it
>Rinse and repeat until it dies
Thought it was one of the most fun games I ever played at the time.
Level design.
Same ,at the time I thought this game was near the peak of gaming , like how can any other game top this?
Now its an okay game but I dont really want to play it much...
I played it for the first time and I think its great, its one of those rare shooters that has a perfect mix of having to constantly swap between ranged and melee combat
one of the greatest games ever, a perfect hybrid of best em up style gameplay and third person shooter
only salty classic-only REfags and zoomers dislike this game
Normie game that ruined the franchise
Shit. The controls are absolutely fucking shit. Fighting Definitely-Not-Zombies was shit as well.
Story is ok.
>The controls are absolutely fucking shit
thats what made it fun. If Leon controlled like any other action TPS character of the day then it wouldn't be scary
You're mistaking the game for RE5, sempai.
I never actually finished it. I found it way overrated and honestly it fucked the franchise for awhile. If we're gonna do over the shoulder third person shooter, I much prefer RE2make. Old RE best RE, in any case.
10/10 game.
Where does this dumb idea that a great game ruined a franchise comes from? Publishers and devs ruin franchises by making shitty games. RE5 is where it went wrong and Capcom is to blame.
Re5 was just a worse re4. They both suck compared to 1-3 even CV was better
Fuck QTEs and fuck context-sensitive controls. This shit led to movie games like Uncharted, Bamham and so many others substituting gameplay mechanics for "get close to X and press Y".
RE4 at least had the decency to respawn you if you fucked it up unlike some games like Metro that makes you replay a section if you fuck up literally the only QTE in the entire game bound to the fucking map button
The classic trilogy is good but there's really no substance to the gameplay of strutting past enemies, but a waifufig wouldn't know anything about meat.
As opposed to re4 where you walk a straight line to the next checkpoint while picking up coins from dead enemies
Dead enemies you say?
Fantastic game. Really really good. Anyone who says otherwise probably posts in sneed threads unironically
Guilty pleasure.
retard
not as good as zero would be if it was 2 player
Its a fantastic game that lives up to it's praise.
Solid controls, perfect difficulty curve, good pacing, fun inventory tetris, and good design all around.
oh look its a "code veronica was good" brainlet
Zero would be so fun if it had a co-op mode. Imagine playing through comfy train sequence with your friend
Less overrated than Ocarina of Time
Because it was a mediocre FPS but an amazing tech demo.
That comparison image between old and classic using Jill and Leon is retarded.
The only way you could ever have only 16 bullets remaining in your handgun would either be if you're at the very beginning of the game, or if you're a retard that tries to kill every single enemy. Should have 50-100 handgun ammo at least. Ammo is far from scarce in classic RE. Fuck, I ran lower on ammo at certain points in RE4 than I ever did playing classic RE.
It gave us Dead Space
Dead space is one of my favorite PS3 games. What a treasure. I played it on my PS3 and then switched to the X Box one upscale and it was not even close to the same fidelity and atmosphere.
Good game.
This, RE2 is esp bad in that, fukken running around with BUCKETS OF DAKKA
pretty good
someone posted a picture comparing two very different games together for some reason (RE3-RE4) even though 4 was intended to be different and a revamp but y'know ok
4 was also beloved because of massive replayability at the time as well as being ported to damn near everything ensuring everyone re-bought and replayed etc.
100% it to get the super mugnum on PS2 a few years ago when i broke an arm, would do it again in a heartbeat. Great way to spend summer nights
No RE4 clone is better than RE4
I'm playing REmake 1 for the third time within a timespan of two weeks and I find it dreadfully boring. It's good for one time through, but in terms of sheer fun replayability REmake 2, RE7 and RE4 are better. REmake 1 is just so outdated and slow. Nevertheless, the poll we did yesterday confirmed that REmake 1 is considered the best RE title, taking 48% of the votes. I really think it's nostalgiafags skewing the results.
1=2=4>5>6>3
Faggot
it's overrated
played it recently and it certainly didn't give me GOAT vibes that everyone says it has.
why would anyone rate Mario 64 that highly in 2018?
Other than the camera issues, is the perfect platformer.
>a nintendo game
>a mario game
>a nostalgic mario game
Automatically makes it the best piece of media of all time. Same with Zelda
what's wrong with SM64?
This game has honestly aged like shit. When it comes to 90s 3D platformers I'd rather play Crash Bandicoot now. Super Mario World on the other hand is timeless and I'd place it well above SM64
Like Final Fantasy 7, it's the popular kid of the series, so a bunch of bitter, sweaty virgins like to hate on it.
Now the actual game is a little rough around the edges by modern standards, but its still near the top of its series and is one of the best shooter and horror action games of all time.
it was Nintendo's first stab at a 3D platformer, and like almost all first 3D attempts at a genre, it has been surpassed by later titles.
I've been trying to like it, but there's not much in the way of actual gameplay. Run past zombie, auto aim zombie, solve puzzles again, backtrack, can't go back through that door because the handle broke. The game is a chore once you've beat it once. RE4 has good crunchy headshots that make combat satisfying. RE7 has epic, over-the-top, and memorable moments. REmake 1 is just completing a list of chores again on subsequent playthroughs. I think it is nostalgia for a lot of Yea Forumstards.
Anyone who can't realise how good it is knows nothing about vidya
massive leap forward in moddable game engine physics, garry's mod is proof of that. an otherwise interesting game and story but not groundbreaking by any means re gameplay
Unlike FF7 this game actually tries something different
Based
I somewhat agree, although not entirely. It's a still a great game, but it's not one I can play several times back to back. I usually leave it for a few years after each playthrough.
I fail to see how Crash has aged any better than SM64 or any platformer from that gen. Comparing SMW to 64 is futile because both belong to different subgenres.
such as?
>Comparing SMW to 64
I mean 2D Mario has aged well and I still enjoy playing it today and that's why if I made a 'top x games of all time list' I'd rather place 2D Mario games there
Has any 2D platformer aged bad?
The fall damage in games like Donkey Kong and Spelunker feels really shitty to play around.
I've come to dislike it afer having played it for hundres of hours. i just can't play and enjoy it anymore. Maybe for one last playthrough once the hd mod is finished.
I can think about certain games and just get theurge to replay them about a week after I beat them. MGS3, Dark Souls, RE4, RE7, etc. I should like REmake 1 enough considering the atmosphere, but I don't. It's just not effective.
Fantastic game, want REmake 4 before I die for high quality SFM models
Or even REmake 2. I think it's more addictive than REmake 1. I judge games specifically on their immediate replayability. In terms of immediate replayability:
RE4 - 9/10
REmake 1 - 6.5/10
REmake 2 - 8/10
RE7 - 10/10
I think that's the most accurate scoring for these four games.
RE7 deserves to be lower for the ship section alone. The wheels fall off hard in the third act of that game
Actually,
RE4 - 10/10
RE7 - 9/10
I just think RE7 is the most underrated RE on Yea Forums
RE7's plot dump on the ship makes up for it. As well as everything else. I could say the same thing about RE4's white castle rooms, or REmake 2's sewers and lame croc boss fight. You fight through those sections to get to the good stuff and RE7 has a cool final boss moment with the orchestra hits as you fire the Albert and when the boss falls. Everything BUT the ship part is ace. In terms of immediate replayability, RE7 is at the top. Maybe not the best game, but that's not what I'm looking for exactly. RE7 is like a movie, but a really damn good one.
Call it personal preference, but I prefer Saddler to slow wall of goo followed by set piece. It's more cinematic, but RE7 is one hell of a front loaded game, considering everything starts getting a little less excellent as soon as Jack is out of the picture the first time
can't wait till it's REmake comes around gameplay will be lit
>Actually,
>RE4 - 10/10
I think it's the most instantly replayable RE, but I think RE7 does horror movies better than movies. RE7 has so many quotable lines from Jack and a satisfying ending. And the chainsaw showdown. And the blue waffle Marguerite. A small favorite part is when Marguerite sticks her long arm out of the tunnel and then Ethan says, "that's special," as she crawls away like a spider. It's perfect. The game is literally perfect. Read the Destructoid review. If that doesn't work I guess it's destined to be a cult classic a la Deadly Premonition.
no way fag.
Objectively
> Resident Evil (Remake) - 9.8/10
> Resident Evil 2 (1998) - 9.5/10
> Resident Evil 2 (Remake) - 8/10
> Resident Evil 3 - 6/10
> Resident Evil: Code Veronica - 7.5/10
> Resident Evil 4 - 9/10
> Resident Evil 5 - 3/10
> Resident Evil 6 - 2/10
> Resident Evil 7 - 8.5/10
> Eternal Darkness - 9.5/10
Yeah the greatest co-op game of all time is objectively a 3/10
RE5 is completely trash
The first Resident Evil games and REmake are boring as sin. There are too many puzzles in REmake for you to say it's the best. Burning bodies is a laborious backtracking chore. The whole game is a giant laundry list. What the fuck do you guys see in this game? Half of you say it's the best RE. Really? It has to be nostalgia.
Is RE5 the only co-op game you've ever played? It doesn't even get in the top 100 of co-op games.
Name a better co-op game
It's like God Hand with guns but less fun.
Just one? Usually when someone goes "name a better x" they arbitrarily require like 6 examples.
Please stop playing resident evil 4, ok anons?
It's a good resident evil game, but it's not a good game.
oof
this but the other way around
I absolutely love co-oping through RE5 and 6, they're way better than 3/10 and 2/10, in my opinion.
Really, you fags explain to me what is so good about REmake.
Of course they're better games than that. He's a jackass who thinks REmake has superior gameplay when it's literally a game of chores
Youre retarded.
>I absolutely love co-oping through RE5
Everyone does including people who shit on it to fit in on Yea Forums
best one of the series. it changed the series though, 5, and 6 made the game into a co-op game. the game is different to having no one to play with.
My favorite game, sick of hearing under age say
>It's good but overrated !!!
Ratchet and Clank 2 deserves a spot on that list, shit's so good.
Also RE4 just has really solid enemy design and combat. Enemies have a multitude of attacks, defenses, and weapons that they come at you with. The fact that you're forced to stop moving to shoot helps make the controller based shooting feel better, it also makes the mostly melee attack enemies a bigger threat to you. The guns also feel great, and following up to stunned enemies with melee attacks is a great risk v reward scenario.
REmake has amazing resource management, it's like a perfect classic style survival horror game.
resident evil 6 is the most fun shit ever coop just because its so fucking retarded and over the top
29th best game of all time
But REmake isn't a game with much replay value and resource management is such a small thing compared to the vast amount of puzzles which become a chore in subsequent playthroughs. I'm beginning to think RE Yea Forumstards like bad games. Go play Myst or something. I don't know how you could replay that back to back, but it's the same game
Now that we have REmake 2 let's forget about RE4, which was really good when it came out, but nowadays is nothing but a bland shooter with hideous brown atmosphere, innecessary over the top post matrix elements and an overall subpar story(funny how Ganados want to kidnap Ashley ingame again when Saddlers initial plan is to send her to America in order to spread las plagas).
the only fair complaint i think it's the Ashley AI, while challeging, it's really frustrating.
the other one, but not so fair it's the no shooting while walking, gotta aim...another frustrating challeging
but overall i really enjoyed the game
The story is half bake..
REmake is one of the few games that I actually went back and beat it multiple times right after beating it.
At first I just had the wii port and I beat it once and put it down, then I got the steam HD release and I fell in love with it. Beat it with Jill and Chris, beat hard mode, beat it in under 3 hours with Jill and then stopped. Shit was a blast.
Peaks at the village
Everything after is boring
nah
>RE5
>franchise went wrong there
How? It's RE4 with co op.
RE6 is when the franchise really went downhill.
CV, 0, 6 are easily the worst games in the series
Yeah
RE5 is RE4 with terrible level design, encounter design, and enemy design.
It does not play very well anymore. I did a Pro run recently and it was honestly boring. The fact you can't move while aiming and all the enemies are slow makes it tedious.
RE6 is a shit game but its the most fun coop game ever just because of how fucking dumb it is
The big bugs in RE5 are great though, their gas attack that distorts the air around them is pretty fantastic, and the fact that they die quickly when hit in their weak spot makes them satisfying to fight.
Fuck anything with a gun though.
at least CV and 0 kept most of the formuoli intact
Not as good in terms of atmosphere and music as RE2 or RE3, which was the whole reason I played Resident Evil.
>dynamic difficulty means that standard enemies can take anywhere from 3-9 headshots to kill
0 is like a 5 out of 10 game tops. Baby sitting an NPC like that sucks.
Based and redpilled.
overrated but i like it
based retards blissfully ignorant to the fact that RE would have been canned if it continued to be a fixed camera snoozefest
get used to change dumb rural and suburban retards
It's the only game that made me diamonds back then, remember finishing it like 7 times half of them on pro, but now when I play it it feels boring and unappealing. Those dumb parts like where the giant stone statue chases you really breaks the tension and immersion the village part gave you
The only baddies annoying to fight were the gunner guys. Just like turret guys were annoying in 4.
That and dogs. Fuck dogs in any Resident Evil game.
One of the worst games ever made.
You're supposed to leave Rebecca in safe spots and have Billy handle investigating new areas.
>why aren't people sucking my favorite game's dick?
cry more faggot
The only good boss fight is Krauser
you mean mostly zoomers like this game
I'm afraid of replaying it. It was like crack back when I had it on the Wii. I'd rather keep the good memories than play it again and start nitpicking.
That's not always possible, and doing it that way is like ignoring the entire partner mechanic anyways.
Slow pace and 90% of the game's playtime is dealing with chore-like puzzles.
>Shit was a blast
RE4 has the puzzles and shooting in the right proportions
I love RE4, but it has like no puzzles. It's pretty much "go forward, the game". REmake has a mazelike mansion you need to figure out.
Pretty much the most fun Resident Evil game.
Not a single Resident Evil game has a good story.
The enemies are the puzzles. And the focus is more on rewarding good aim as well. That's why a lot of "puzzles" involve shooting down something or shooting from a long distance.
What do you fight for?
>a castle built in a volcano
>A gigantic castle in Spain with no tourists in it
*blocks your path*
I count five tourists in the game.
Too easy
Played the Wii Version and it’s nothing but headshot city even on hard mode.
Fuck you I liked RE5
>ganados can use crossbows and rocket launchers
>not rifles
>have money to buy a huge gatling gun
>doesn't have money to arm and train the ganados
>capture Leon and let him alive
>2 cops go missing
>no rescue team sent
Fuck.that game
REmake has a mazelike mansion you have to figure out and then never again. There is not enough shooting in REmake to make it worth replaying more than maybe twice. You can't get better at puzzles once you know the solutions. At shooting you can, and like the other poster said, the enemies are the puzzles.
RE4 has shooting and puzzles in perfect proportion and is infinitely more replayable because of that, however, I like 7 a bit better because of the over-the-top moments.
I hope RE8 stays in first-person, has no crap boat section and has a little bit longer story.
RE4 shooting gameplay + RE7 story and over-the-top campy moments = win
Unfortunately, I can't see how they can top a chainsaw showdown and Jack's quirky lines
GO TO HELL
