Could Snake in his prime, beat Cyborg Raiden? Or has war changed to much?

I heavily doubt a normal man could beat a star-platinum level cyborg

War... War never changes.

Becoming a cyborg ninja ruined Raiden for me

Raiden was always a weeb. He just got the resources to follow through on it.

Of course not, at least not with OSP.

Considering Old Snake managed to capture and hold down Vamp long enough to inject him with something, absolutely. Snake slugging it out with Grey Fox proves this.

Speaking of Vamp. Can we talk about how he was actually fucking magic in MGS2? Water walking, wall running, and just outright sitting on top of that water that was as thin as air and somehow swimming back up out of it even if he did fall in.

>Get btfo by hispanic man
>Don't get better training or anything to beat him
>Simply pay for a better cyber body than him
Lame

Nanobots

>Snake slugging it out with Grey Fox proves this
Pretty sure Fox was holding back during all of that? I was under the impression he wanted Snake to kill him.

Those only explained his agility and healing. NANOMACHINES can't make you run up a sheer 90° surface or swim through liquid air.

Jack was holding himself back in his old body by trying to reject The Ripper inside him. Once he accepted himself entirely and stopped fighting it, he could overcome Sam.

The Vamp fight? Sure. The Gray Fox one, not really. Gray Fox would deliberately not use his sword to fight him hand to hand (plus he wanted to be defeated), what's to stop cyborg Raiden from Zandastsu-ing Snake into cheese cubes?

And also after he explicitly got upgraded

>Can a peak human beat a cyborg who is strong enough to lift a battleship and fast enough to use flying missiles as stepping stones?

No. He might as well fight Superman.

>use flying missiles as stepping stones?
Twin Snakes.

Yes but only by cheating somehow, some macguffin type item that short circuits raiden or what have you. Same as he beats some other truly super-powered bosses. Snake only fights fair when its feasible, which feeds into the whole (2nd) Greatest Soldier theme.

Same. He's pretty awful in MGR in particular, but it was a mistake even in MGS4.

No, that was the whole point of MGS4. Conventional soldiers like Snake and the PMCs being replaced by supersoldier cyborgs like the BB corps and Raiden. MGR was the perfect sequel to this narrative. Snake, despite stopping the patriots, cannot stop humanity from advancing technology for the purposes of waging war. It's up to people like Raiden to take up the torch.

MGS2 still had some (literal) magic to it compared to later entries: Ocelot being possessed by Liquid, Fortune's power actually being real. But yeah, Vamp really was overkill

You might as well talk about psycho mantis or the sorrow. MGS always has meme shit that you have to suspend your disbelief for.

how was he swimming in that hyperoxygenatic tank?
I don't think nanomachines can affect bouyancy
