If somebody cheats at singleplayer games they're just wasting their time and missing the point of the game. They're free to do it if they want, but when I see it I'm gunna say "wow how lame". King's Field is the same. So is Shadow Tower. They put you in an unforgiving, hostile situation and ask that you survive and make the best of it. They're not mechanically difficult but they do feel like a real adventure because you're on your own. Their appeal is the feeling you get when you overcome obstacles.
