Just played this game and really liked it. Only real complaint is that it was piss easy. It got the open world right, and exploration was fun, but it really was too easy.

If I played botw at the same age as OOT I'd be pretty amazed, most likely. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were both great but full of repetitive gameplay and boring, annoying dungeons. Wolf gameplay in TP was garbaggio. Skyward Sword isn't worth mentioning really.

BotW is great and brings the game back to storybook simplicity.

if anything it has too many mechanics that are half-heartedly implemented, and the story is needlessly convoluted (two different time gaps) I would not call the game "simple" by any means

no but it doesn't deserve a low score either. Skyward sword got that score through being technically impressive. it felt like the first game on the Wii that embraced the possibilities of motion controls beyond just shaking a stick and pointing. It got bonus points but it had more to do with how everyone was still coming off the glow of the Wii putting motion controls inside the house.

Whenever somebody posts this you can tell that they just followed the plotline exactly, didn't explore at all, just walked from Point A to Point B, Killed Ganon, then closed the game. There are a vast amount of secrets, hidden areas, giant structures, so on.
