I've tried to play FFXIV twice and I always get bored after a few hours. Combat is just so mind numbingly boring, the story is boring, and no one wants to play together.

I thought the same thing until I found a FC on my server and they powerleveled me up to reduce the GCD and obtain a vast number of skills not on the GCD

it looks a bit hectic because it's zoomed in, but you can easily pick your character out of a croud since your character is always in the middle of your screen, whereas other characters aren't.

Unfortunately this is one of the genuine cases where the game gets better after you've poured in hours of gameplay.
Early level jobs are lifeless and boring, but at the end everything comes together.
The story for ARR is also a bit shitty because it's trying to salvage the shitfuck that was 1.0 while not throwing people in too deep. As you get to the front door of Heavensward, the story's quality increases tenfold.

I think it depends on what job you play. I haven't played in a while but coming back to RDM,WAR,AST was very easy to play. However I had major issues trying to play BLM and MCH coming back because they rely on knowing the fight to the T to be good.

There's a reason they didn't take any feedback from anemos into account when designing pagos for example, because pagos was already done by the time anemos was added to the game. If it takes them ages to make a new race and they are only just now hearing the negative feedback, it'll be a solid 6 months before they can even start to work on it.

It'll just be easier to include them as part of the next expansion than try and push them in a patch.

Yeah, even in the face of all this negative feedback the "best" answer I saw him give was that he hears it but didn't want people to get their hopes up.

Part of the problem is the way they do gear. They apparently have to manually go in and adjust the gear to fit all the race/gender combos every time there's new equipment. It's why Viera seem to only have the heels in their race outfit rather than going back and manually adjust all the footwear in the game to account for it. Same with not displaying headgear on either of the new races.

Adding something like a new race permanently adds to the work pile when working on a new patch or expansion. Adding the missing genders will be roughly the same amount of additional work as adding a new race. While the time spent adding the race is limited, the need to fit gear to them becomes a permanent part of the workload for as long as the game receives updates.

They seem to be flying by the seat of their pants with ShB and talk regularly about how they just barely get shit done like the fanfest trailer only being finished days before the event. If they are truly at the end of their rope for time/budget/workers then I could also see them not adding them in the future.

If the two sub races of Viera actually have different skeletons (ie Feol) they can hypothetically please both crowds if they can translate both to males

It'll probably take somewhere around 30 hours to finish with queue times, cutscenes and fights included. I would honestly reccomend just enjoying the slog and not trying to rush it. You only have to do this part of the story one time in your life and you'll never have to go through it again so it really doesn't matter how long it takes.

keeping servers running (electricity) is just one part of the cost. bandwidth is another cost. you underestimate how much patch data has been downloaded globally in addition to keeping server lag to a minimum.

Of course. I like NV, but to say the average person is getting over two months worth game hours is dishonest. Even modded, it's still just NV. It gets old for most people, and you can't use a niche subset of extremely dedicated fans to say that if a game doesn't give you 1500 hours of content it's not worth it
