Nintendo need to add a trophy/achievement system to their games to give us a reason to replay them again.
What should the system be called? Stickers? Stars?
Nintendo need to add a trophy/achievement system to their games to give us a reason to replay them again.
What should the system be called? Stickers? Stars?
They don't have one? Seriously?
shut the fuck up you insecure loser
you realise less than 2 percent of players earn all trophies for a game?
Ningers
how about "fun"
Yeah, they have nothing, it gives their games zero replayability.
some of their first party games have this already like smash bros
Stickers, accolades or patches would be pretty cool.
It actually and unironically gives their games zero playability
Pretty sure it's the other way around. When you're done with the achievements, the game is disposable.
Damn I wasn't aware that this was real brainlet hours
imagine replaying games only for achievements
>no one actually DOES all the content in a game
pathetic
They would likely be called Stamps, some Wii U games actually had Stamps to collect but they were only tied to Miiverse.
A better incentive is being able to unlock new character icons since the selection the Switch has isn't that great.
Or just play the fucking games for fun you autist
People out here getting all the achievements in games PRAYING to god that some bored fuck ends up looking at their profile and not thinking they are a massive clown
They pop up in the middle of cutscenes saying "HEY WOW YOU GOT BETRAYED BY 'X'" before it even happens sometimes
They take you out of what you are doing and remind you how sad you are for wasting your time attempting to collect digital trophies
What reason do you have to replay their games without them? You've finished it and had fun, why do it all again without it's shiney freshness? You might as well move on and experience something newer and just as fun.
It would be nice.
Post times where they popped up in the middle of a cutscene revealing spoilers because I can't think of one single time.
one-ups
How come you snoyniggers only complete baby shit rpg games?
>someone doesn't have the achievement for killing a boss in under 20 seconds using only fists on the hardest difficulty without dying
>"lmao you havent even beat the game"
>Shenmue
>Gravity Rush
Good games. The rest are garbage for weeaboo
I like this
>You got a x1 one-up!
>You got a x2 one-up!
Maybe go to x5 or x10 for the highest?
Why can't you complete this challenge? You love the game and yet you can't do this?
If only trophies were like that and not
>collect all 9999999 apples
>craft all 99999999 items
Trophies like defeating Doran in Demon's Souls or let's say Sephiroth in KH1 are cool as fuck but the majority of trophies in vidya are pure garbage that only an autist would bother unlocking
>I need a REASON to play this great game again!
Peak zoomer.
Man im glad i broke my achievement whore ways 10 years ago when i was 16. Sorry to see some anons are still faggots
You stopped caring about achievements in games when they were still a new thing. Good stuff
Xbox Live is already in the Switch. That's enough for me.
Why should you replay it right away with no incentive? And don't say "fun" you could have fun moving on and trying something new and get new experiences at the same time.
Nintendo WILL do it one day and when they do you lot will praise them and I can sit back knowing I'm right as always.
I haven't seen this movie in years, it was great.
Which Jodo was this? Holy Mountain?
What's a cool site for me to see my Xbox cheevo progression?
There was no "incentive" the first time?
Peak boomerzoomeryoomerdoomergoomerwoomer
trueachievements. 10x better than psnprofiles but the mods are faggots and the """news""" articles are written by even bigger faggots
Jesus christ this makes me lose hope for video games
Are you really telling me that before achievements you wouldn't replay games you liked because nobody would commend you for it?
Why play the game at all.
>i really enjoyed this game, but not enough to complete all of the challenges
I have a friend like you that just completes the final boss and calls it a day. its okay to play like that but i always find it weird that he never does any of the optional content.
There was, to experience something you hadn't done before and to enjoy it.
in general i don't give a shit about forced replayability by playing arbitrary challenges for muh gamerscore, if the game is fun enough and i feel like playing it more i will
still, it'd be nice if you could just scroll down and look at all the games you played with some kind of unified measure of completion, kind of like how it works when you scroll down the trophy list on ps4.
so ideally i'd hope that the achievements they'd have were goals that were already present in the game, so that the equivalent of a platinum is just getting 100% completion on the hardest difficulty, rather than having to do some shit like freeze 60 bokoblins within 2 minutes
Games used to have hi-scores for replay value, without a system to make you return to them they are pretty much worthless.
The great thing about the 360 isn't beating the games, it's showing everyone online that I did
>Actually Platinum-ing the boring as sin South Park sequel
This. That's literally zoomer mentality 101; they were clearly born in 2006
Thats not optional content, thats just putting arbitrary stipulations on already existing content that you have beaten
If you call that content then theres infinite, why not beat it only using a shield, without dodging, only moving backwards
Why do you need these things to be written down and feel you have to do the specific things shown or else you haven't experienced everything
I barely have friends on PSN.
Who actually cares though? I never look at the things and neither does anyone on my friends list.
It was really fun.
Well, my incentive is because the game is fun. Vanquish and Metal Gear Rising for example are yearly plays for me and everytime I love it.
it's a developer created challenge
do you think random dickheads on the internet make up these achievements?
Did you get the platinum/1000 out of 1000 in them?
>but the mods are faggots and the """news""" articles are written by even bigger faggots
seething
The worst ones are ones that will take hours upon hours of grinding.
>level all characters to 99 and complete every characters skill chart and find every equipment upgrade
lol no bye
Random examples
Spyro, pokemon, doom, resident evil, gran turismo, final fantasy whatever, gta vice city/SA etc
are you saying there is no reason to replay any of these games due to lack of leaderboards, that is truly beyond retarded
Nope :)
Agreed. I'm currently trying to plat (and 100%) Yakuza 6, and I like seeing the occasional trophy pop up now and then while I'm doing the side stuff.
Not saying they're necessary by any means, but I kinda like having an achievement list for every game (not every game has a built-in list like Smash Bros or Yakuza), it gives me an incentive to try and get it in case I'm really bored and don't know what to do in a game
found the tranny
Developer tells you to slit your wrists and send them a picture before you bleed out to unlock an achievement, why don't you do that optional challenge?
Only dumb zoomers need achievements
>100% yakuza 6
uh oh, have fun with mahjong and the batting cages, fuck that shit.
O also don't have on xbl user
Thanks, I plan on leaving mahjong for last because I dread it
Darts and baseball are my current worries. The rest is/seems like smooth sailing (I have yet to do the live chat stuff)
self-imposed challenges
just be creative and push the game to its limits, instead to sticking to what devs know is possible anyway. you don't need a checklist of stuff to do to have fun.
>you will never spend an entire summer boosting hundreds of hours boosting for the Quake 4 leaderboard with 7 other dedicated autists
Take me back. 2010-2013 where the best years for achievement hunting because nothing was fucking released other than Gears 3. All the time in the world to boost dumb shit.
Why aren't you trying to finish them on the harder difficulties and do everything? You say you love the games but it doesn't sound like you do.
>Trophies used to dictate how I play vidya
>Stop caring about them
>Feel 10000% better
Anyone else? I think trophies ruin MOST games.
>Self-imposed
So in other words you have to find reason to replay them, why not let Nintendo make fun challenges for you to come back and try and also to be rewarded for doing them?
you and you're friend are a bunch of casuals
trophies and achievements should have never existed, if you cant find a reason to play something yourself, why the FUCK are you playing video games? you dont need a goddamn shiny plate on the screen to make yourself feel good about some bullshittery. if you do get help.
not a fan of trannies but your butthurt for some article lmao
If you disagree with adding this fun but challenging system then you are simply casuals with zero skill. Please stick to Lego games. Oh wait, they have trophies too.
Accomplishments, and idk.
Nintendo games are some of the only ones I feel motivated to 100% as is so who cares really
ppl like you are casual scum and the target audience of shitty movie games desu
Glasses of soi milk
seething tranny
I did finish it on the higher difficulties. All difficulties. Sometimes I take a hit or two while fighting, and I dont care.
I don't have to find reasons, I just do. If a game doesn't inspire you to do something off the beaten path by itself and has to resort to a checklist (which is usually mostly grind anyway, something only autists would willingly do), it's indeed not worth replaying.
pretty much all video games are just striving towards some end-goal and achievements only add another layer on top of this for a form of replayability
Why? Let the devs add these to the game if they want to, like you have such a system in Odyssey but only at the very end, so you don't get shitty popups and can concentrate on playing the game as you like.
You did everything and didn't get the trophies? Yeah, ok sport.
So you go off the beaten path because you expect to be rewarded?
I said I finished it on all difficulties.
You love the games though so why didn't you do everything the games have to offer? If you did then the trophies would come naturally without you even have to think about them.
>Nier Automata gives zero fucks about its achievements by making them all purchasable for dirt cheap with in game currency
Honestly it's kinda why I don't play more stuff on the switch. That and all I want is animal crossing. And the performance on switch is shit.
Don't you have to play through it three times to get to that point in which you can buy them?
No, why would I? I just wonder what's there. In fact, if there is no reward, not even some common loot like coins, I know I found something special because that's likely something devs haven't even thought of.
Ok. I hate the games despite playing them every year. You got me?
This thread makes me sad. Humans used to have creativity and imagination.
>Oh, there could be something cool in this place!
>Just kidding, I'm going to go stare at that wall for five minutes
Yeah no.
You're like a little babby. Come back when you beat a real game.
So you've been playing them for years and still haven't done everything even naturally by playing? Sorry but I'm going to have to call you a liar, sorry.
Name literally one game that does this
No, you just have to get the complete ending. The whole ending A/B/C thing is just a continuation of the same story with credits in-between as a way to fuck with people
Sorry mr alien, we will try better.
I dont check the achievement list because I'm not a faggot so I dont know what I am missing.
He can't because there is none.
There is literally zero reason why they shouldn't be in, if you lot who pretend not to care about them just ignore or turn them off you lose nothing and yet people who are interested in them or get drawn to them take an interest and Nintendo sells more, it's literally a win-win and you're too fucking stupid or ignorant to see it.
Aside from no hits on Armstrong on Hard I know I dont have that one because I always take damage on phase 3.
Perfect example, thanks. If you were playing a game with achievements and did that, you'd get [And the wall stared back...]. It's an easy one, but it presents no value to anyone except completionists who would willingly stand and look at the wall for five minutes because the achievement guide said so. With no achievements, you'd fuck off and do something more fun.
still a baby game compared to LP2.
Yeah ok, I think we are done. Enjoy your annual playthrough dude lol
And yet you stare at walls with no incentive. Have you been checked for brain damage recently?
The people interested in them are nothing but ADHD ridden zoomers that don't have the brain power to literally be satisfied by a game unless they're told to do so. Why catter to them?
I want to make a game with troll achievements for dumb shit to just prove how stupid achievements whoring is.
>Die 50 times to the super easy tutorial boss
>Name your character "Asscheeks" and beat the secret boss 7 times
>Discard the most powerful weapon in the game
>Skip every other cutscene
>Team kill your team mates and be veto kicked from 10 online matches
Achievement systems are actually designed for retards, it hurts to see them implement them on any platform
Because there is an interest in them, why cater to people like yourself who don't care?
Better make sure you can't reload a save so they can't keep the weapon
To those who play Smash, how many went for all the stickers and that other stuff?
Smash ultimate in particular has both achievements and Milestones, so we could get that in other games.
Yeah, but it doesn't incentivise the purchase of games, merely just satisfies a demographic that, again, doesn't need to be catered to. Even from a marketing standpoint it has little purpose when Nintendo has so much more they could do instead of waste their time with cheevos
Checked but your still entirely wrong. Tell me how not adding a simple system would help improve the games? You can ignore it if you like and you don't lose anything.
It does incentivize the purchase of games. Back when I was deep in my achievement addiction I would buy games from multiple regions or on PC because you could stack them. You could do Arkham Asylum 3 times on Xbox 360. And if Nintendo implements them, of course you are going to rebuy your entire collection or as much as you can to inflate your score.
based quints of absolute truth
Terraria's fish 200 times when there's a 24 minutes cooldown
>it doesn't incentivise the purchase of games
It absolutely does, and that's why I hope they don't do it, because I will buy fuckin' Kirby and Yoshi games on release for points instead of waiting for them to get cheap
>And yet you stare at walls with no incentive
I don't? I'll do something fun/challenging/both. Say, play floor is lava or something.
That's cool, now imagine getting rewarded for it. You get to do it and you get something in return. Win-win!
What are you even trying to say with this statement?
Less than like 25% of people finish any given game. Are you implying games shouldn't have an ending then?
I have 90k gamerscore. How are you guys doing?
140K+ and 80+ platinums
That's some shit bait OP
Why would I need a reward? I got enough from the self-imposed challenge.
You fucking idiot, those sound fun as fuck.
>Replies
>Shit-bait
Not too bright, are ya son?
So you hate reward systems and yet you reward yourself? Fuck me...
Go back to eating crayons, you'll get a self imposed reward from that too.
Who gives a fuck about trophies that literally do fucking nothing. Getting overpowered weapons, armor and moves because you finished the most difficult tasks is much more satisfying.
You have a poor imagination. These are nothing compared to what devs came up with through the years.
RDR2 has the skip cutscenes one(for different reasons)
Overwatch has achievements which basically asks you to work against your team.
>Get those OP weapons
>A trophy pops at the same-time
What's the problem here?
I don't believe that number is accurate, certain achivements have only a 30% completion rate in players, despite you automatically getting it 10 minutes in the game, like how does that happen?
I don't need a system to entertain me. I just need resources to do so.
I unironically like trophies and achievements. Only on PS4 and Xbox though.
Steam cheevos are meh and not worth it, plus people can just cheat and unlock them all in a second.
>I don't need something to entertain me, I just need something to entertain me
they're just annoying popups, who the fuck would miss them
>inb4 food analogy
I don't need my waiter to feed to me, just serve the food.
Nice. I am kinda poor so i wasnt able to get much games. I also went to pc for a few years in 2012 and then finally got an xbox one in 2017 again to continue my achievement building. Achievements are good for poorfags like me, since there wasnt as much to play, youre damn right i replayed a lot of games. Halo 3, sonic unleashed, ninja gaiden 2, guitar hero, xbla games, call of duty, blazblue etc. There is literally no reason not to have achievements
Just turn the notification off then
You just need to pull your head out of your ass
That's an ass analogy I just posted btw
real fucking funny, I would if there was an option for it that doesn't nuke the entire overlay
I'd laugh if Nintendo announced a system today on their direct to see all of you post threads about how great they are and how it adds replay value to games.
On ps4 you literally just have to go into notifications and turn off trophies.
It doesn't, you can turn them off on xbox and ps and you literally lose nothing but the notification.
unfortunately the cancer has metastasized and spread outside of consoles
no, I don't have any way of turning off the achievement spam without nuking the overlay, which is why I said precisely that
post hard achievements, I want to know how bad it gets
Seems to me like it's a failure on whatever shit platform you're using. I could always, from the days of 360 cheevos, turn off achievement notifications explicitly, while leaving others in tact.
Seems like the cancer is whatever you use, not consoles that give you more choice.
>Nintendo need to add a trophy/achievement system to their games to give us a reason to replay them again.
No, no they don't.
Achievement systems are just a useless epeen meter that rarely covers 100% completetion
Persona 4 arena...cest magnifique...beat score attack with all characters
Be the #1 ranked player in the world or be the emperor in elder scrolls online are time-consuming and hard
>be the emperor in ESO
what? How does that work? I knew it was stupid when the elder scrolls were literally the flag in capture the flag, but come on.
Achievements are dumb. Prove me wrong. Be aware that my logic is flawless and you literally cannot.
That's not hard, that's just tedious.
Ok, instead of us listing reasons why they should, please list reasons why they shouldn't. This should be interesting to read.
Nothing will ever top GRAW. 3 separate leaderboard achievements and they each take hundreds of hours.
No man its literally impossible. Look up completion rates on xbox live and psn. Its balls hard and toned down in p4a ultimax
badges of shame for anyone over 18
>achievements are dumb
then don't do them.
They don't add additional development time so there's no reason to not include them.
Grindy hard or hard hard?
For the former look at Gears of War games and the "Seriously" achievements, they get worse every game and are completely insane.
Hard hard look at Trials games, they have some insane achievements challenge wise.
Some Guitar hero also had an achievement for playing the endless set list without failing anything or pausing at all, so it's ~6.5 hours of continuous playing and not fucking up
You ADHD trash human. I hate you.
Ok?
It's still a shit feature if the best thing about it is the ability to turn it off.
>buffed health damage and other shit
Fair enough then.
I don't want trash in my games.
I'm still playing Titanfall 2 after platinuming it, mostly being autistic trying to better my guantlet score. Based Respawn even sent me a cute email desu.
It's something like basically be the #1 player on out of every clan/faction in the world or your region. It only changes like once every month or maybe it's every three months. So only one person ever 1-3 months can get this trophy. One person. In a fucking MMO.
>instead of us listing reasons why they should
Have you even listed one?
Good boy points.
trophies are just annoying. I hate that you can't delete them for games on PS, and you just know Nintendo wouldn't give an option to turn off the notifications.
it's fine without them.
>it's still a shit feature
why is it a shit feature though? You're throwing a whiny baby shitfit because you don't like that there's a feature you won't use.
Then disable notifications. Again, not seeing a reason why they're bad. They're literally just an addition.
Even if youre an expert at fighting games its still hard just saying. Ninja gaiden 2 on master ninja is also an incredible feat of patience
i don't personally care about achievements as a player, but they're useful for devs to get stats on their playerbase. the fact that nintendo still doesn't have a system like this is just further proof of how tonedeaf and out-of-touch they are.
>platinum stuff that you want to
>don't bother with the platinum for games you don't want to do
I fail to see what the issue is
I'd rather just play in peace without fiddling with settings to make low effort trash (as you describe it) not get in the way.
So there are no arguments against it? I'm glad we are all in agreement then. Nintendo, you have heard us, add a trophy system.
>why is it a shit feature though?
That's the other half of the same sentence, which you cut out.
>They don't add additional development time
Except they do if just a small amount. Did you think the flag for an achievement for just existed?
>best part is to turn it off
then what's the worst part?
>play in peace
is a tiny popup THAT much of an annoyance? What's it like being genuinely autistic?
>Remembers Sony's first copy of Achievements called "Entitlements".
>Fiddling
>Open notifications
>Turn off trophy notifications
>then what's the worst part?
by inference, not being turned off.
It's not that annoying. It's just more annoying than I would like (i.e. not at all).
>So there are no arguments against it?
Despite the fact you've been given multiple. In any case have you actually given a real reason for them?
Like I said they don't even cover 100% completetion.
I know at least Super Mario Odyssey and Bayonetta 2 have it.
Odyssey is fucking jank since if i have several achievements completed i have to talk to the bitch the same amount of times to get the power moon rewards instead of just giving me all of them together.
...That makes no sense.
The best part about it is being able to turn it off, the worst part is it not being able to be turned off?
Imagine only playing games to see a notification every time you did something. No one looks at your trophy list but you.
I like trophy hunting because it gives me something to do after I beat the game, just don't bother with ones you don't feel like doing
I haven't seen any arguments, just kids crying that they don't like them.
i think trophies only really work if they are roughly a measure of 100% completion, and only have challenges that you would already know to do in game
so the equivalent of a platinum would just be get 100% completion on the hardest difficulty, and none of these arbitrary challenges shoehorned in to fill out a trophy list
so in SMO for example, the moons toad gives you could also double up as the achievements that appear on your profile, and once you get 999 you have the platinum, no stupid extra bullshit like having to have at least 100,000 jumps, or kill 50 goombas as a dinosaur
I like goodboy points that add absolutely nothing to a game. I live for those pats on the back.
First thing that popped in my mind.
I like the pictures it takes when they pop, it's a reminder of when I was playing the game. It brings memories back.
>i think trophies only really work if they are roughly a measure of 100% completion
Problem is none of them are like that.
user, the first of my posts that you replied to was a major argument against them. So far the only argument for them has been that they give a game replayability when they replayability would still exist without them anyway.
yeah and it's shit, but maybe nintendo would handle it differently. spiderman on ps4 handled it pretty well though, only a couple of stupid ones like go visit ben's grave, but once you'd got 100% you'd pretty much platinumed it
Link me to the argument. You're going against an optional feature that even from this topic shows that people would like them. You could ignore them and the people who use them get to enjoy them. No offence but you're coming across as a cunt.
just so you know that other guy fucked you
>even from this topic shows that people would like them
And "even from this topic shows that people" dislike them.
Yeah, I'm sure wrecked samefag. I hope I can recover. Maybe I should go to the hospital and get checked out? I'm sure someones post could be damaging to my health.
yup, just look at how angry and upset you are. go back to earning your trophies you fucking child lmao.
>that even from this topic shows that people would like them
You mean you think the thread showing major opposition to them is in support of them? Not to mention you yourself can't even find real use in them.
You're just looking like your throwing your bottle out of the pram for no reason. Surely you can't be that selfish, right?
Whoa now user, do you have a paypal? I can pay you whatever you like to stop wrecking my asshole.
>No offence but you're coming across as a cunt.
Says the faggot getting mad because people don't like achievements or see the point in it.
that's stupid. did you think you would get a trophy for that? you must have been the one eating crayons since you're obviously brain damaged.
>Major opposition
Lmao Less than 70 people have posted in this topic, does that represent the entire Nintendo fanbase? I know the Switch was selling like shit but I think more people than that bought one.
People do like them though. YOU don't like them and think they should cater to YOU and only YOU, like a woman, therefore a cunt.
SEETHING
Don't be mad user, I posted that a while ago, you're still mad by that? Take a joke, bro. Go play some super mario or something.
>your throwing
my throwing- what?
>Poster counter still isn't going up
>Same-fagging this hard
At least post from your other phone or something to make it look like someone else.
>this guys fucking me hard! I better change my attitude and play nice this time
You got me there bro, nevermind Nintendo, cancel the trophy system that would actually sell your games and do what this guy says.
>he actually thinks I'm the guy he's been arguing with
Lol damn your mad. I'd hate to see how you would act if someone insulted you in real life.
>nevermind Nintendo
What? No, you should definitely mind Nintendo. They're a major player in the industry.
We're talking about this thread user and so far you're the only one who's said they like them.
>Spend around $60 for a game.
>Don't really play it.
WTF is wrong with people? Do they buy cars and then just leave them sitting in the driveway all the time?
It's still not changing dude.
Oh fuck, you're that dumbass from the Mother 4 thread aren't you.
You said the same shit then too when people told you it wouldn't be a real Mother game.
My mad? Yeah my mad is crazy. You're also retarded as fuck.
Trophies are for gays.
They were major and the last time was only due to the Wii. They need something modern and new to help them sell but if they are happy to fuck themselves in the ass then who am I to tell them what to do with their systems and money?
you do know that most people have a house or apartment and don't live in their car, right
>Yea Forums is one person
Those are both the easier parts of Yakuza 6's 100%, I don't know what you're on about. Batting cages were only easier in Y5 on Shinada's side, the Dragon Engine one is the easiest it has ever been barring that because now you have an exact location for the pitch and the window is enormous in hitting it as long as the ball is even close to where the ball will be. Mahjong has pretty simple requirements so it's just about learning the game and making extremely simple hands which is more than enough to beat all the tables. Yakuza 6's hardest part to 100% (Not platinum) is beating 30 rounds of PuyoPuyo in a row because the fan girl is locked to round 29 and only 29 and there's like four separate guys who go at incredibly quick stacking speeds so unless you're really good at it or know someone who is you're screwed. You also have to do the same in Judgment except now for the platinum, not just 100% but I believe there's an easy cabinet. You also have to grind spear fishing in Dragon's Den about 80 times just to reach level 10 in it which takes an eternity but that bit is not hard, just time consuming since a run is like 3-5 minutes.
For darts you just have to get the higher tier darts from beating one of the girls at Club Sega and you're fine since it's all reaction time more than anything and beating the other named girls get you better ones. Even on the final guy you only need to go past 420 points. For baseball there's only like six total pitches and you just need to learn what means what and react accordingly. The special pitches in Expert aren't random if I remember right but you might want to double-check that just in case.
If you check the thread you'll see there are others unless you're willingly ignoring them.
>who am I to tell them what to do with their systems and money?
Well, you got me beat there. Who the fuck are you to?
I've never played a mother game, I hate that weeb shit
Yeah like you, yourself and no one else.
A potential customer but they have literally nothing to offer so I'll keep my money.
>I need to have a good boy notification pop up every time I do something it a game to make it worth playing
Just play the fucking game you drongo
Yeah so you're ignoring them, allow me to return the favour.
So no qualifications and you aren't even a customer. Sounds like a big fat nobody to me, if you were to answer the question.
By spamming that you like them again?
What a waste of a get.
>of course you are going to rebuy your entire collection or as much as you can to inflate your score.
>of course
The logic is baffling. Are achievement whores really this fucked up and addicted to number going up?
Yeah bro, let me go pick a switch up to play my favourite Nintendo games! What's that? No new Metroid games you say?! No new F-Zero?! No new Star Fox?! Surely not! But I can play exclusive indie games? What? I can already play those on my PS4 and other systems? Damn...
He's not wrong. Achievements are absolutely worthless.
Yep, I have a guy on my friends list who has games imported so he can get the trophy lists again.
I don't believe this, screenshot please.
I refuse to believe people can be that pathetic.
Don't worry, once they release achievement for super metroid it's all going to turn around for sure.
no please don't. It really fucking bugs me to not have a game I really enjoyed completed so I end up playing way more and do stupid ass grinds just to get the fucking 100%. Or punish myself 100% soulsbourne and cuphead for stupid ass bragging rights.I like that with nintendo I can just play a game and not worry that my retarded brain will want to unlock every achievement.
>achievement: play a game with a developer!
>game servers are offline
>achievement: buy the dlc!
>game hasn't been sold for years due to licensing issues and was pulled from steam store
>achievement: beat the game without getting it in under 25 minutes
So you're for achievements now? Glad to see you came round to our way of thinking.
Literally this. Wish I could disable them.
>fps
>on console
So these are the pathetic faggots i share a board with.
I'll see if I can find them on his trophy list, he's a trophy whore and is constantly getting new platinums. He has close to 700 platinums
So this is the power of the ps4. 98% pc ports. Enjoy your platinum in dust, furfag.
As an ex trophy whore with only 80 or so plats and close to 150 total "complete" games I can say achievement systems bring out the worst in people, tom clancy's ghost recon was the last game I trophy boosted because alot of the trophy unlocks were utter bullshit especially ones required from team matches (took 10 fucking hours with people around the world who kept dropping in and out and a good mate ended up quitting trophy hunting because he missed out, had to sleep for work the next day while I skipped sleep entirely because autism), and getting the multiplayer ones from grand theft auto 4 LONG after the mp was dead stopped a good pal from gaming with me (he loved gta4 but the fact he spent 40+ hours doing the same mission over and over again killed any enjoyment).
I'd honestly rather boot up a game, play the story, maybe a few other modes, and that's it, but here I was, "cheating" the online for that BING, looking for ways to cheese the hardest modes and taking the long way to do it (the saw in resident evil 7 was a double edged sword in that regard), and at my worst playing literal dumpster trash to bump up my trophy count.
I don't have that problem with my switch, infact only game that had that level of autism was monster hunter, and EVEN then I can tune out of the real shit like getting all monster sizes which are RNG based (doing that shit in world took 300 fucking hours, if I didn't like the game I would never have gone further than 80).
So if you have a bit of kleptomania stick to the switch, otherwise fuck these things, some games don't even make you do everything to get 100% anyway like bayonetta, or the fact some cannot be obtained either due to online components being shut off or a alck of care, some games DEMAND world records like lost planet 2, waste of 600 hours and cheaters on the board
Only point to get these damn things is an E-boner and kids sending pm's about how amazing it is you 100% aliens colonial marines like that's SOMEHOW a good thing
your badges of shame are the games themselves.
What if you just want privacy? What if you don't want to be judged?
The bloodborne one is like that. Too easy imho
Venmo me
This. NEVER admit to owning a Nintendo system bigger than DS when out in public. I feel sorry for my friends who own them.
Turn them off and make them private.
I wish Microsoft and Sony would remove achievements. I don't care about achievements but I'm a completionist so it fucks with my autism
>dumb tripfag exposes platinums as for people who cant even get higher than 420 score in darts...
I agree, but the fact that this inane topic for discussion has so much attention speaks volumes about how young this board is.
I think "fair" completion should be considered, after playing weeb trash like senran kagura and bullet girls phantasia getting ALL characters to max level is an unnecessary grind.
Fuck I have all content in the later but an additional 40+ hours and my crew is only half way to maxed out, its unnecessary padding
Believe me I'd sell back my steam library if i could.
>Penguins of Madagascar
Kek just made me laugh that you said they're all weeaboo
He has WAY too many games on his list but here's PS trophies, they have a list for trophy hunters to get if they want to import to get the same trophy more than once
playstationtrophies.org
Do people actually care about achievements and trophies?
Getting 100% in GTA IV. Takes forever and there’s a lot of little details you need to get right.
Considering there are websites and communities built around getting them, yes.
>10x better than psnprofiles
Come on now, TA is okay and has a lot of info to browse through but it's nowhere near as presentable as PSNProfiles is. It still looks as cramped as when it first released.
>Almost no full guides, only achievement-specific guides.
Though this also has the benefit of someone individually submitting a single achievement guide instead of a full one, but at the same time it can mean others don't get one at all so you're up in the air for what games get what and you can turn this on PSNP as a negative because you have to write a full guide just to give tips for something (When they previously let you submit just for the specific trophy but it was abused with crappy solutions)
>Can only see 10 games on your main page and they're huge compare to PSNP.
>Have to go into the game's page to see how difficult the game is, how rare the 100% is, and you have to make an educated guess if you're looking at the TA score on how difficult the game is if you're not in the page itself.
>Forums are pretty much dead all the time and posts are incredibly cramped making it a pain to read anything.
>News suffers from the same cramping issue.
>Gaming sessions are nudged off to a corner and much more annoying to find and deal with compared to the way PSNP deals with it.
>In general the site is much more of a pain to browse.
Their best things are that they have categories for every individual achievement so you can tell what the deal is just from looking at the icons, the plethora of information for a game when looking at its achievement list (DLC, news, etc), and the ability to assign three individual game series to your profile is great, but that's about it. I'd love if there was some site that had the positives of both sides, the clean look, the rarities, the user-friendliness of a lot of their features, and the active forums of PSNP along with the plethora of information, the series pinning, and the news section of TA.
I'm not retarded, no. If it lacks games, giving you a pat on the back won't make up for that.
Nintendo was proven right for waiting out that fad.
I wish there an option on steam and ps4 to select that removed them from my games.
Yes but collecting those stars in Mario make it all worth the while!
I can see why you would think that.
Depends, lets see what I've tried
>vanquish
One of them requires a hoard mode completed, and while only IIRC 5 stages with about 5 stages or so to beat the last ones are boss rushes, gotta play it more like a bullet hell than a cover shooter
>grand theft auto 4
pure fucking grind
>lost planet 2
gotta get all of the in game titles which in themselves are basically achievements but some require world records to be made, the worst part is the online leaderboards are flooded with people glitching top scores and no leaderboard resets
>fighting games in general
with a bit of luck and a dumbass rematcher multiple games in a row can be done, otherwise its tough under normal competative conditions
>japanese games
language barriers are one thing, another is how grindy they are, with some RNG involved, not light novels though that's easy mode (with a guide/dont care for story)
>dead space 2/resident evil 2 remake
essentially the same but this depends on your own skill, both have a hardcore mode to beat, while deadspace makes it a mandatory 3 saves with high levels of damage throughout the while run (with a death sending you alllll the way back to the last save) re2 rewards you with a rocket launcher/mini gun for doing it in the same manner but with a time limit, otherwise cheeseable with one of the unlockable infinite use weapons and save as much as you like, but considering how much the game holds your hand all things considered its an insult to beat it by playing it safe
>replayability tied to fucking achievements
That is insanity. People who are addicted to their checklist will instantly move on to another checklist once it is completed. They will never play it again.
Meanwhile I'm willing to bet the most replayed console games of all time are Nintendo games. There are people who replay SMW, LttP and OoT every year. Tell me some sweaty freak hopped up on social media does the same with achievements as incentive. Also holy shit imagining BotW with achievements makes me want to puke. I know I fell for the shit bait and got epically trolled hard, but I do not care. That shit is fucking garbage.
Yeah dude, stars are what it's all about. Who needs trophies or achievements when we have stars?
Trophies are fun to get for games you really like. I'm not a trophy hoarder anymore but if I really like the game I will check out the trophies. For example, I love Kingdom Hearts 2 and I platinumed that game twice. I don't even notice the difference with Nintendo games. I play them, enjoy them, and that's it.
Are Nintendo games even difficult enough to have a trophy system? They have zero difficulty.
Nintendo games are harder than most games
Lmao no they fucking aren't. How shit are you at games? Holy fuck
Lol, they are dude. And more fun. DKTF comes to mind. 100% Yoshi's Island. Pretty much every Mario game has hard as shit final/extra stages, etc. I bet you think Dark Souls games are hard LMAO
>Platformers are hard
Yeah I'm sure they are if you were only born last week. Yep, right up there with Ninja gaiden 2 on master ninja difficulty.
>Gears of War "Seriously" achievements
In the original you had to get 10,000 online ranked kills. The sequels upped the numbers as well as making it harder to farm and even when you did farm it took something like 20+ hours just to get the kills.
>Vanquish's challenge mode
The fifth one is the worst one. You essentially get killed seconds from when you're seen, you have to fight multiple bosses paired up with mooks, sometimes the same boss in fact, you have limited ammo, and you're ranked on it so you have to beat everything in under a certain amount of time.
>The one Tom Clancy game, Quake 4, and I think a wrestling game which one require you to hit #1 in the worldwide rankings online.
In the wrestling game's case the #1 world record holder would literally never play unless someone paid him hundreds of dollars to.
>Ninja Gaiden 2 Master Ninja should be self explanatory.
>Ninja Gaiden 2 also has you either replay the game something like 10 times only using one weapon the entire time or you have to play through the entire game up until right before the final boss using only kunai to beat everything on the normal difficulty mode.
>One of the Mortal Kombat games requires you to play 24 hours on each character and there's like 20+ characters.
>Battlefield Bad Company (The first one) requires you to get every single patch and pin which includes one for getting Savior 50 times (5 savior kills in one match which is close to impossible because people die in like three shots) and killing 10,000 people on top of other ridiculous things.
To top it off the EA server changed years back so it broke a lot of the stat tracking meaning you can reach all the requirements and still not get it after 500+ hours.
>EDF games require you to beat Inferno mode solo if I remember right.
>Any of the online-side of Let it Die's trophies, in particularly the defending and capture ones.
>Super Meat Boy requires you to no-death entire worlds in one sitting.
>lol ninja gauden 2!!!
shut the fuck up lol. you don't play games
>another madman that actually plat Hyperdevotion Noire
If nothing else, my respect for having the patience. Having done it myself too, I'll admit, fuck doing that shit ever again.
Let me guess, you probably think Gone Home is hard.
Neither do you by the sounds of it, enjoy your Nintendo pop-up books.
>neither do you
thanks for admitting it casual ass bitch.
It's real, I was in that life from 2007 to 2011. "Stack" threads were common. I spent loads of money on imports for games I didnt even fucking like and acquired thousands of dollars in credit card debt.
I hate achievements now and I hope to God Nintendo doesnt do it.
>He hasn't gotten all the Shiny Gold time trial medals in DKCR an TF
Fucking CASUAL SHITTER
Speaking of achivements, I just got the Super Meat Boy platinum yesterday
My fingers hurt
>stickers
That could be fun. You could have a virtual album to arrange them
Why does achievement hunting insult you? Are you against leaderboards too?
I love trophy hunting, but yeah, I can't imagine importing a second copy to inflate my score.
If I want to replay a game, I'll just replay it like a regular person.
Ever since mario galaxy I kinda wanted them to use the different stars. Like a purple star for challange achievements and a grand star for the platinum
Imagine caring about achievements.
>As an ex trophy whore with only 80 or so plats and close to 150 total "complete" games I can say achievement systems bring out the worst in people
They don't. It's the fact you were obsessed with them. It's your obsessive mindset. To most people, they're just an extra side thing they can choose to do or not to do.
What a monstrously pleb opinion hahahahaaaaa
E-boners are nice as long as you aren't swinging it around everywhere like a badge of honor
>being over 8 and caring about trophies/achievements
>being over 8 and caring
switch support xbox live
switch is achievement
>Re2 Remake
>Hard plat
What?
I wish they would add one so that you could have achievements that show that you completed Pokemon Leagues on your profile or completed the national dex on games. That'd really only be the reason I'd want it. It also adds replayability for achievement hunters.
>>Almost no full guides, only achievement-specific guides.
TA definitely has more walkthroughs than PSNP. And the individual solution pages combined with achievement flags TA has shits all over any PSNP walkthough.
Go read the awful walkthrough PSNP has up for BFBC1, then compare it to the one TA has.
>>Have to go into the game's page to see how difficult the game is, how rare the 100% is, and you have to make an educated guess if you're looking at the TA score on how difficult the game is if you're not in the page itself.
Lol, it's no better on PSNP. The only thing you can see on your main page without looking the individual game up is the Platinum %, which says nothing about the DLC or 100%.
>>Gaming sessions are nudged off to a corner and much more annoying to find and deal with compared to the way PSNP deals with it.
And yet there are like 80 sessions up on TA today compared to the 14 PSNP has listed.
I agree with the rest of your post other than the forums being more active on PSN. TA is definitely cramped and a bit ugly, but it has gay shit like a friend feed system and site badges making it much more social and active than PSNP.
>achievements are childish
>but video games aren't
>he loved gta4 but the fact he spent 40+ hours doing the same mission over and over again killed any enjoyment
You must have used one of the retard methods.
so like the achievement unlocked flash games?
>TA definitely has more walkthroughs than PSNP.
trueachievements.com
TA has roughly 75 total walkthroughs with only one being made last year and two this year.
psnprofiles.com
PSNP has 2177 guides (20 * 108 + 17 on page 109) including DLC guides.
I'll agree with you the quality varies though, some trophy solutions are disgustingly short and don't help at all which wouldn't fly for TA and would be downvoted like crazy. A lot of people half-ass the guides just to get them out.
>The only thing you can see on your main page without looking the individual game up is the Platinum %, which says nothing about the DLC or 100%.
DLC + Platinum is shown underneath that % in green but I believe that's just based on PSNP users and not PSN as a whole, you're correct on that. TA has a better overview and it even splits your completion based upon what DLC you have while PSNP requires every DLC completed for it to count towards the green %, but at the same time there's a lot more you need to dig through compared to what's immediately presented to you from your main page.
On PSNP's side you also get to see both your total and the platinum/100% rarity while on TA you only see your Gamerscore with TA in parenthesis, not the overall picture.
>And yet there are like 80 sessions up on TA today compared to the 14 PSNP has listed.

Well over 50 for the month, you're definitely right on this front.
My point with this specifically was that PSNP offers the boosting sections very clearly and prominently while TA requires you to sniff it out by going directly to the game itself and then scrolling all the way down on the right side where it's bundled among a bunch of news, DLC, and graphs in an out of the way area. PSNP has it almost directly under the name. It's straight up right under "Create a guide" which is directly underneath the developers.
