Redpill me on videogame streaming, is it just a meme or will it replace consoles eventually?
Redpill me on videogame streaming, is it just a meme or will it replace consoles eventually?
At this point and probably forever it's a meme, costs way too much bandwidth as seen with google stadia and the input lag will most likely always remain at an uncomfortable level
literally never ever. consoles are going in the exact opposite direciton- even though every game on the xbox one comes on a disk it has to be downloaded to the hard drive because the optical drive literally cannot read the game fast enough to render all of the uncompressed 4k bullshit 'realism' graphics
for casual games like nintendo, bethesda, rockstar stuff, streaming will be viable in 5-15 years
but for anything more "hardcore" like action and fighting games, not for a long time
Just a meme. The physics of the fucking universe has put a hard cap on this, because light for fiber op simply will not travel fast enough to cover the necessary distances fast enough to have the experience not be totally fucking awful.
Maybe 100 years from now when we manage to figure out universal quantum entanglement, but until then, hell no.
if you somehow invent routers and switches that don't add extra delay the input lag might be brought down to a manageable level in cities containing a streaming server
The universe is gay.
The average person, hell the average country doesn't have good enough internet to support it at decent quality.
>eventually
Maybe in 100 years when there's enough incentive to change all the current internet infrastructure, as it stands speeds are nowhere near fast enough to give latency close to your hdmi cable connecting ur gpu and monitor
>when hardcoded limits fuck up tons of modding capabilities
Who or whatever caused this plane of existence is a massive faggot.
cute retard
not viable, turning network lag directly into input lag will make you want to kill yourself
it's a meme, the speed of light prohibits it from working well enough for anything besides point and click adventure games or turn based strategy, stuff like that
Do americans walk barefoot on floor? Yuck
It's a meme. Just look at the reveal of Google's streaming shit. The guy's jumps weren't even registering on the first device he was play AC:O on.
They wear shoes indoors, indoors
>he wears shoes inside his home
>this thread
i guess its true when people say zoomers are technologically retarded, anyone over the age of 20 has witnessed just how fast technology grows and streaming is not only viable but will be the main method of playing video games in less than 10 years
>grow up being taught that every screen can be interacted with
>not old enough to know about technology history
>fat uncle with nasty beard who hugs me for an uncomfortable amount of time while sniffing my hair gives me this green thing with a screen of it
>try to interact with it with no prior knowledge
>fat uncle records as I do so
>I try to interact with it the only way I was shown to
>he laughs so hard he shits himself
Anybody over the age of 20 has witnessed consumer technology stagnate. The biggest market is still fucking mobile phones and they've released the same thing over and over again for the last 15 years.
yeah, you definitely are not over the age of 20 or you are supremely retarded
based fat sniffing shitting uncle
no one needed that 200 word novel to realize the kid's used to touch screens
Jesus christ what a fucking retard you are. Definitely a zoomer.
You millenials would flip your shit if you had to use a computer from the 70's. Stop being so smug.
>his floor is so dirty with cheeto dust that he can't walk barefoot in his own home
thats what they said 20 years ago
we know just a few generations ago your floors were dirt, don't have to tell us that
everybody on this site will be dead before it becomes mainstream with no negatives
>all the iphones look the same so that means consumer technology stagnates
What kind of big brain think is this
You are wrong
What if they know your input before you actually do.
What if they know what your reaction will be to any given scenario allowing the server to act accordingly.
What if speed of light doesn't matter.
What if netcode predictions are actually wired to your brain with mics and cameras allowing algorithm to effectively anticipate what will happen.
zoomers are already seething, based post
Maybe in rural america lmao
>calls increasing the resolution of the camera by 10% every year huge technological leaps
That's $999,99+tip, please.
What kind of retard are you even
>know your input before you actually do
and how are they going to do that? put electrodes on my head? that is still going to be limited by the speed of light as it sends my brain info over to their server
>know what your reaction will be
what dog shit games are you playing that are so basic that your button inputs could be guessed?
Seems like I am more intelligent than you actually. Go play with your "drone". I still got my RC Plane from 15 years ago, we didn't use to call the drones, but whatever.
so you think they can remove all the input lag because thats a negative
Yeah definitely a zoomer trying to act like they're 30
why was file deleted?
was it cunny?
not him but goddamn man you sound very tech illiterate
Name a single consumer technology that changed everything within the last 15 years.
a kid using a gameboy as a touch screen stop being a newfag and learn what the archive is
what is the archive?
are you serious
i get that zoomers take smartphones or high-speed internet or card-swiping for granted, or arent old enough to have driven cars or had any job in a corporation but cmon
Thanks for proofing me right I guess, these all existed 15 years ago in some form and have only been iterated since. You make driving cars a point? What are you even trying to say here?
man zoomers are dumb
hes trying so hard to sound intelligent but look at his english
Obvious one is the smart phone of course which didn't exist 15 years ago, it's really quite difficult to grasp how much it changed everything if you weren't alive in the 2000s.
Smartphones are just iterations of mobile phones though. I couldn't think of a single smartphone function outside of calling or messaging people which I would need to use. I still use a normal mobile phone.
>I use them like normal phones therefore they are just like normal phones
This is weapon-grade autism.
The real joke is that the vast majority of Yea Forums don't play games where latency matters. That said, it's still not happening no matter what Google and MS wants.
Streaming.
>streaming
Has existed since the mid '90s and has only been iterated upon since.
That wasn't the question though, it was something in the last 15 years that changed everything.
It's still just an extension of the Internet the single most dominant technology of our time. Took us two decades to go from slow ass modem connections to thots flashing their tits in front of kids pretending to watch video games. Is that "fast technology grows" to you? To me that sounds like the usual rate of technological advance throughout history.
>we went from having only one railways connection to being able to travel all across the country in only two decades
>at this rate we'll fly to the moon in 100 years!
