Recommend me a good monitor fuck
Fuck off underage nigger
I bought a steambox on black Friday 3 years ago (and installed Windows) because I knew I'd have to frequently be moving back and forth between Europe and America for uni and didn't want a computer I couldn't bring in a carry on. 600 dollars got me an i5, 8gb RAM, 1Tb HDD, and an Nvidia 970, all in a 12.5 inch case. I have no plans for upgrading because I have no money nor job prospects.
I'm playing Total War: Warhammer 2.
What did you study?
I don't know where you can get a good "monitor fuck", but I can link you to this:
amazon.com
I bought the previous model of pic related recently which was on sale for 30 bucks. Should I just throw down the extra 40 and get pic related? I can't use ethernet cable, so this is why I bought the T6e.
Damn it, forgot pic related.
I have a different case I'm gonna move all my stuff into either when I upgrade or when I get something that uses USB type c since it has a USB c port on the front of the new case I bought.
I'm playing Baba is You right now.

Even a complete novice can assemble a computer in one afternoon and then troubleshoot it over the next few days. Experts can do all of that in a couple hours. The hardest part is selecting the individual parts because so many on the market are shit. You need to research every part you buy.
Hello!
How are AMD cpu this generation? I had a 8320 and it was shit even when it was new.
It's actually pretty useless, unless you're a sysadmin or something.
Even for programming one bigger (in both res and size) screen is better and I find myself more productive that way.
For games two screens are completely useless, I turn off my second one so as not to get distracted when gaming.
Only ADD Fortnite playing zoom zooms need the second display on to ERP on Discord when playing vidya.
My current PC is just overall dated and there's no point keeping any of its parts. I'll be building a whole new one this summer now that I have a decent job. Just waiting to see if the new Ryzen line has anything to offer.
Pretty good actually. Still slower than Intel in games (although we'll see about the new Ryzen is 3 months or so), but let you save a decent amount.
So good for people fishing for a good deal.

Okay... I'll give one chance to explain this "ultrameme" meme.
Exactly what games are incompatible with ultrawide resolutions and what stops me from manually setting a custom resolution in the config files?
Sound cards are not a meme.
I want to buy a 4k screen.
Will 43'' be too big?

Autistic Clevo laptop I had built around Cities Skylines performance which I am so crippled by autism about that I struggle to play it anymore. I haven't been completely wasting the performance so I don't feel bad about it, but I will be wasting it when playing Rule the Waves 2 as it comes out at the end of the month, a based naval spreadsheet simulator.
Good cable management. I could never get that shit right so I just settle for not having the cables hit any fans.

Computational linguistics, which is a mix of linguistics classes and machine learning stuff. I don't actually give a shit about coding though, is the problem. You're clearly expected to turn programming into a hobby, something you do for fun, and can't just let it be something you do for work, and the only shit I care about enough to learn in my free time is history and politics. I'm almost sure I'll not find a job in this field and just go back home to work with my parents at the supermarket.
>You're clearly expected to turn programming into a hobby, something you do for fun, and can't just let it be something you do for work
Maybe in America?
I mean I work as a .NET Dev and only really program at work, most people I know are the same.

Which needs an upgrade first? It's not sufficient anymore for 1440p/60fps in modern games.
>Dell S2719DGF
I'm using that monitor right now. It's pretty nice although that may because I've never had a 1440p monitor before. Its freesync also works with Nvidia gpu so there's that too.
The fact you didn't try to insult me back makes you a fine gentleman
>i5-4670k
Cpu then gpu then ram. Probably want to get a new mobo as well.
I'm not actually one of the anons you replied to, I just wanted to make that joke
Yeah will need new mobo anyway because of different sockets. Should I shoot straight for the i7-9700k?
1070 not sufficient? I think you’ve got issues in your software if you can’t run that
I'm suspecting a CPU bottleneck, because the 1070 is never under full strain.
Are those PCIe SSDs better or worse than the regular ones?
I built my midgrade shit in 2013-2014, and i can still run most stuff on at least medium, but i kind of want to upgrade. Should i do piece by piece, or just build an all new rig?
Better, but not better enough to justify the price difference. If you catch a deal then fair enough, otherwise don't lose any sleep over them.
That's cpu I got for my most current build. It's probably the best cpu for price for gaming right now. Extremely good single core performance while costing much less than the i-9900k.
a-anyone?
I'm hopefully getting a job soon and one of the things I've been meaning to buy is a VR headset. This is my current rig, what would I need to change in order to properly play in VR? I was aiming for a 1060 or maybe a 1070 if I can, but no idea about the necessary RAM or CPU.
They're significantly faster. If you're building a new comp, there's no reason not to get one. However, it's not as big a upgrade for a old comp as say getting a modern gpu or cpu.
She looks amused, not shy or embarrassed. Bet she’s been a few times to (((love hotels))) with salarymans.

I'm basing this off of the people I know who found jobs in Germany (the ones who didn't get them from people they know).
Look man, I just need something that's
a)Stupid fast
b)Compatible with Mac
Radeon VII is a lot faster than Vega 64 which was the top tier GPU before, and it's getting compatibility in the next Mojave update. I would go Nvidia if I could, but I can't.
Also isn't that video pushing the card to the absolute limit to make it get that loud? I doubt it would sound like a jet trying to take off while gaming at 1080p or 1440p at most.
Besides you can get a liquid cooling kit for it later, right?

You can and that's pretty much your only option. Or get some earplugs. But no, just playing BF should not turn any card into a fucking jet engine. Unless it's broken, no card should be that loud no matter the load.

I paid 400 bucks for my XF270HUA. Ultrawide is for idiots that don't have a 2nd monitor.
I just need more screen space for video editing and dual monitors are annoying, having bezels in the middle is shit.
Besides that LG is 144hz
Is it possible to get a battlestation/pc gaming thread without pic related ?

Ugliest fans i have ever seen
>keeping GTX1070 because it's good enough for 2k
It's not. Maybe if you're willing to turn down settings or play at sub-60 fps. If you're looking for a GPU that can do 1440p/60+ for the next 3+ years get a 2080. Also drop that RAM to 16gb and the CPU to a 9700k and get a z390 board. Basically stop being a retard and >>>/pcbg/.

no
Will a 2080 really last 6 years? GPU technology has been so stagnant I feel like we're in for a pretty major leap sometime in the next 2-3 years.
That's not the point.
Only a zoom zoom would get offended by the color of components you'll never even see and put more value on that then their performance and sound profile.
Why do people insist on transforming their computers into a rave party?
They're free to do it, don't get me wrong, but why is it so popular?
>Will a 2080 really last 6 years
Of course not.
With material shortages I doubt it. Unless the prediction that we'd start mining from the moon comes to fruition.
I'd honestly pay extra for a moon graphics card. Shit would be cash
Cause it looks cool and futuristic when you're gaming in the dark
Even if you can still sell it in 3 for like half the price and get a new flagship.

By that logic just fucking leave the spaghetti cables from the PSU inside the case. What's the point of having perfect cable management like if you're never gonna open the case?

Inteltards deserve it. I hope you spend even more, I mean you probably need an expensive cooler, a delid kit, etc.
Just bought:

let us not divide ourselves even more.
Doesn't change the fact that if you change your socket you might as well go with a ryzen for half the money. Unless you want 144 Hz memegaming, but doubt if you have an 1070.
I'm actually open for an AMD CPU suggestions since I'm not planning on utilizing CPU for things like streaming or rendering. I just heard more bad things about AMD's hardware than I ever did for Intel/Nvidia.
Should I get a 1080p 144hz curved monitor or spend a little extra and get a 1440p with the same features? GPU I'm planning on using is an Asus - GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB.
On one hand the higher resolution might be nice but on the other hand my console gaming at 1080p looks fine and I'm going to be playing a lot of old games upscaled anyway so I don't think the 1440p would be worth it.
So my build as of right now is
Ryzen 5 2600
GTX 1050ti (was on sale no bullies)
B450 Tomahawk mobo
2 x 4gb DDR4 3k ram
looking to upgrade a bit, what would be my first step? im thinking of going for a new graphics card but then i'd need a new power supply. the one i have now is only bronze certified 450W.
So is 20xx actually worth it outside of raytracing gimmick, or is it overprced compared to 10xx?
I use a gaming laptop and you can't do anything about it.
>since I'm not planning on utilizing CPU for things like streaming or rendering
Then you shouldn't because what you get is more cores at lower clock speeds, so basically better performance in multi core computing such as rendering, and lower performance in low core applications such as games.
>purpose (gaymin etc.)
>requirements (min. 60 fps at ultra settings 1440p etc.)
>budget
>current gpu
I have these fans, and I usually hate the 90's aesthetic but the fact that they went out of their way to not make them black like everything else makes me love them for their character, lol. They actually work really well imo.
>curved
no
>2070
is going to be a beast at 1080p. you'll be good for 5 years.
How much was the 1050ti? Nowadays the 570/580 is almost the same price. Your psu should handle a gpu that requires one 8 pin cable. I would get more ram though.
Ryzen is a hell of a lot better than AMDs older CPU architectures. I have a 1600X OC'd to 3.9GHz and it's been an absolute champion for gaming and some of the processor heavy work I do (lots of stats and number crunching). If you're gonna upgrade, I highly recommend ryzen, since Intel seems to be catering more to the enthusiast market lately.
Is curved really that bad?
I've heard a lot of people say they prefer curved. I've never used one before though
2080 vs 2070, 2080 not worth it IMHO unless you already have enough money to get a really good cpu.
i5 7400
2 x 8gb
GTX 1060 6gb
Spend the extra, 2070 can handle it and 1440 is great
>43"
why? 43" is the size of my TV. That's just excessive at that point.
>Offended
Bro i'm just giving my opinion on something, go back to tumblr
I went from a flat screen to a curved one.

Unless you care about 144hz it doesn't matter. You'd have to be retarded to go with Intel over AMD.
How do you like the shit stack, was it worth it?
>not being a waitfag
It'll last 10 years if you don't care about running everything on max at 4k/120 FPS.
I like it a lot, but I’m not a music or sound expert so I can’t explain why. Shiit was the number one suggested dac/amp when I was building.
what games are actually coming out in the near future that would actually warrant a pc upgrade considering I can run most things on high atm? All I can think of is borderlands 3 and cyberpunk 2077
I used to be a amd boi like you. Then I was stuck with horrible single core performance while realizing that not only where very few games made to use multi-core properly but even fewer were optimized with AMD in mind.
2077 and shadowbringers are the only pc games I’m looking forward to atm

I plan on buying a top of the line rig soon. I'm just waiting to see which CPU will be the best for gayming between the upcoming 3850X and whatever will replace the 9900K.
Wait for lg.com
I really want to get rid of that smirky smile by fucking her throat.
Get rid of the retarded green racing chair since they suck. The colors are a fucking mess and you should go back to /bst/ on /g/
Get a Gigabyte board, all other ones have absolute shit power delivery and you don't want that if you're going with the 9900k.
Yeah, it will even though it only has 8gb of vram. If one would want a semblance of futureproofing though they should go with the 2080 Ti.
Not enough rgayb/10

I'm looking to upgrade my rig from the setup that's served me well for many years, could you give me some advice? Currently I'm using
>i5 4670k
>GTX 670
>8GB DDR3
I'm not working on a particularly large budget. I'll have a spare £700 to throw around soon but I don't want to spend all that on hardware. Since my GPU is probably the thing most in need of an upgrade, I've been thinking of switching over to AMD and getting a Vega 56. Is that sensible, and what should I do regarding the CPU?
thats a good goy, keep consuming

>>/pol/
A 2GB 770 still does 1440p 60fps. This will last forever.
Just upgrade slowly over time since you're gonna have to replace everything anyway.
Don't buy AMD GPUs.
>Don't buy AMD GPUs.
llllllll > 3
Don't get the Vega 56, that's overkill. Get a 570/580, that's perfect for 1080p gaming, and get more ram. That should be a decent gaming rig, unless you want to go ham on the newest games.
Why?
AMD GPUs have a higher power draw which increases it's yearly maintenance in power bills and often forces you to buy a more expensive PSU.
I'd rather indulge a little in overkill, since I'd prefer to postpone the upgrade after this one for as long as possible. I'm not too worried about the expense on that honestly, it's the thought of getting a new motherboard, CPU and RAM that's worrying to me. But I gather that threading is going to become an issue in very short order if I don't upgrade soon.
If you like less power, less efficiency, less support and a dick up your ass buy AMD. It could change in the future but that's the situation right now.
me, its been maybe 6-7 years but I figure its long overdue for a swap though I'm gonna wait until June to see if anything new comes
What’s wrong with Ralph?
Those speakers aren’t even connected.
Yes the mousepad is trash.
your room was 1 thousand times better a few months ago without the shitty lights and (((gamer))) trash. lose the gay ass bright lights man it looks tacky
I guess it depends on what exactly you want to do with the pc. As I said, the cpu is fine for 1080p, you need a better gpu and some ram maybe, that could be done around 200 bongbucks. If you want overkill, you indeed need new cpu, mobo, ddr4, etc, which is a lot.
Shoo shoo, paid shill!

My phone camera is shit and my choice of aesthetics is shit, but I like my setup.
After years of toaster gaming on a shit laptop on a student budget, finally used money from my first job to upgrade to this sexy bitch. Predator Orion 3000, specifically the one with a an i7-8700, 16gb ram, 256gb SSD, 2tb hard drive and a GTX 1070. Was a good price too, ~$2300 aussie buckaroos. I don't know much about computer building but all the friends I asked assured me that this was pretty decent specs and the price was within my budget.
I've been a toaster gamer and console pleb my whole life, so this is a brand new world for me. Reinstalling all those Steam games I had to play at 720p/low settings, I just bought RE2 and I plan on trading in my PS4 copy of Sekiro for the PC version (side note: Sekiro on a base PS4 runs like shit, I'm talking dips below 30fps, even as a console pleb I can't stand that shit).
Very nice user, I used to be a toaster gamer for ages too. The feeling of not having to turn everything down, but pump it up is fantastic

I already made a post but I'm replying to this to make it clear: on a regular PS4, Sekiro runs like dogshit. Like, 30fps with occasional frame dips. I can't stand that shit, I hate it so much I'm gonna trade the game in and rebuy it on PC.
Good idea. I'm assuming this is an option yes? Like I can just buy a 1080ti at some point in the future and swap it in? Or is it not that simple for a prebuilt? I'm new to the world of desktop gaming so I actually don't know if it's as simple as that or not.
amazon.com
Been using this for 7 or so years now, someone give me some reccs (pref of the same dimensions/design cause im autistic)
Check it in your warranty that you lose it if you open the case and change parts. If yes, just pop the new one in. If you can't the store might be able to swap it out for a fee to keep the warranty.
I mean, if you don't lose warranty, then swap the card yourself. Fuck.
I see. It did come with two kinds of warranty (manufacturer and store), so I'll look into it if I decide to upgrade in the future. Thanks for the advice!

Next consoles are likely to have GPU power around the 1070ti/1080 level. So anything above this will be fine for the next 6+ years.
Same problem :(
based and deskpilled
both ergonomics and style matters you fucking philistines
My PC is
Ryzen 5 1600
GTX 1050ti (Yeah i know, but it's from my old build, and i bought it early 2017)
msi b350 pro-vdh
4x4gb ram
Would a 1660ti be good? I only care about 1080p 60fps.
I also need to change my psu, since it's old as shit.
What's a good monitor upgrade from 1080p, 144hz or 1440p. (24" size, can't really go bigger due to small desk
1660ti would be a massive upgrade over 1050ti, for 1080p/60fps it would be very good for the next few years since its power is more for mid-high 1440p
>144hz or 1440p
there is no OR
but I suppose if you have to be a nigger and not get a bigger desk, you can suffer 1080p on a 24" for the next 5 years to a decade
My friend says you're on his friend list and he saw your hair.
He says you're balding.
Is that true?
Current specs. Looking to upgrade to a b-die 32gb memory kit soon.
>Want a laptop for when I'm visiting family abroad
>Really like the look of the MSI GS65
>That price though
I know its overkill as well because I don't want to be playing The Witcher 3 or whatever on a laptop but I'm so bad at overspending on PC stuff. As my 1080 can attest to. Its just nice to see a decent spec laptop that doesn't look disgusting.
>visiting family
Just get Switch.
give reccs then niggers
Don't bother with b-die, it's really not worth it, especially with DDR5 coming out next year
what recs, I made mine myself, it's wall mounted
please get rid of the gay fucking lights
examples of what you consider a "good" desk
>bisexual lighting
what the fuck are you even talking about
No, I don't regularly show myself to much of anyone. I have one single spot that I'm missing a tiny bit of hair from a scar I got as a kid but you can't even tell it's there unless you dig through and part the rest of my hair.
>part trannies hair and its balding
cringe
what did you try to express, freedom of movement and unhindered personal space is cringe?
proper silhouette and position is cringe?
Why did you let some faggot skull fuck you as a child?
I fell out of a bunk bed and hit the corner of my head on and unplugged electrical plugin. I was too young to even remember it.

>Buy 2080 RTX Strix for $1200 cause that 3rd world tax.
>i5 6600k bottlenecks hard on RE2 and Anthem.
>Thinking about overclocking it.
>Realize I have a terrible Power Supply brand.
I'm gonna take it to the store, pay up $200 for corsair psu, and the dude told me he could overclock it for me. the 6600k goes up to 4.5 Ghz, is that enough to play 1440p@144hz for single player games?
Yes, might want to crank down some useless settings if you want stable high framerate to match your monitor's refresh rate though.
>it's really not worth it
Dude bought a fucking 1300 dollar GPU, i think he's past "worth it".
Is it even possible for newly released games to be locked at 144fps? I was honestly shocked that almost no high end games from 2018 are able to do that.
Is there even a difference with 94 fps, 112 fps, and 142 fps? RE2 was jumping around those and I didn't notice unless it went less then 60.
Sounds like a lie
r8 my dusty ass setup
I've also got a scar on my leg you might be able to see in some of my pictures from dropping a big snow globe as a kid.
>HP Omen 17, GTX 1070
No idea what made me feel like trying a gaming laptop, but it's the comfiest fucking PC I've owned. Performance is never an issue, the only noteworthy thing someone could mention as an issue is that it gets hot as fuck.
Had it for over a year now. I occasionally bring it with me to my bro's place for a two-man LAN, and being able to pack in 5 minutes and go is awesome.
It was on a -40% discount when I got it, think it was a christmas season deal, otherwise I would still have been on my 970 desktop I guess.
I'm replaying Borderlands 2 with my bro for a few hours a day, after having finished all of BL1 Enhanced together last week.
I have plenty of backlog in both games and shows but I spend an excessive amount of time procrastinating, feeling depressed and just staring at whatever YouTube recommends.
Lately I've had serious considerations to take a month+ break from the internet. I'm absolutely addicted in the worst way possible. I want to find even one worthwhile pastime that isn't on the internet.
What you get for trying to fuck it.
okay. it's you.
I had a very similar monitor, it was just one size bigger I think. The niggermonkey developed a 2 pixel wide broken line on itself about two months in. Fuck samsung.
>at the end of the gif he's standing up straight but his hands are still on the ground
Is there any issues with AMD Motherboards and SSDs? I heard you lose like 20% of performance.
fuck off discord tranny
Lol not likely my 1080 is still going strong 3 years later.
Gpu tech is regressing + going up in price despite mining flatlining.
Maybe in 5-10 years we will finally get midrange cards under 500usd that can do 4k 60
Used x370 board + 1700 oc and decent ram
Good luck if u have to rma it
Even your gpu will struggle with high refresh rate 4k so 60hz+ is out of the question
A 1060 would be the minimum gpu I'd recommend getting. I had a 970, which has very similar performance to the 1060, and the only game that really gave me framerate issues on a vive was Skyrim VR. If you can, you could even shoot for an rtx 2060 since that is (I think) similar to the 1070 in performance
>buy used 1060 6g for $140
>its broken
>return it
>lose $20 in shipping
Same user as I didn't see that you only have 8gb of ram, I'd recommend moving up to 16gb
When I was buying a new PC recently, I very seriously considered getting a gaming laptop to replace my toaster one. I went for the desktop because it was strictly superior to the laptop from the same brand at the same price, because it was surprisingly small for a desktop being about as big as two PS4s and also because I was concerned precisely about the heat thing. It may've been an old toaster but my old laptop could play some stuff like Borderlands 2, but in later years the fan was always blasting at max and I noticed dust was building up inside the little grills. It got to the point where it overheated and shut off playing the original Stalker of all things. I did what I could without totally taking it apart but it bothered me that I couldn't easily open it and clean it out like I could with a desktop, and I feel like heat was always going to be an issue with something as compact as a laptop.
Those were just my thoughts at the time. I certainly appreciate the portability of a laptop, but my meetups with my best bud usually end up with couch co-op games anyway. I'm curious as to how other anons treat having a gaming laptop in the long term.
In regards to your personal issue... I don't think I have anything I could really add other than I've rekindled my interest in video games by playing a variety of games for shorter sessions. Y'know, get started on that backlog but rotate between games instead of focusing on finishing any one. Certainly cut down on my procrastination in terms of hobbies. Downside is like, I can play all my games or watch all my shows, but I don't have time for both. I dunno how to balance that.
Intel + Vega is the worst combo ever.
T. Amd + nvidia master race
Vega 2 is dogshit btw and as bad as Vega was when it first came out
1060 is absolutely not worth it now, either go higher, or get a polaris.
I recently bought a 2080 and the only game i have played is Minecraft.
>43,364 $
wat
Ignore it. He's a 3rd world shitskin that lives in a place that uses monopoly money.
What's the best value PC I can get, honestly? I've been wanting to break into PC gaming for years and I mean YEARS but in my situation I can't really save the money I want to get something that's guaranteed to play every new game at the best possible settings. What's something that will let me be able to play pretty much every modern game out there without completely potato graphics? Anything less would be redundant considering I have a PS4 and if I get a PC that can't outperform my console, then what's the point.
what a retarded post kys
r8, haven't touched this in a couple months so i'm sure I need to adjust some stuff because I don't remember that CPU cooler being $100 but this is probably enough to play everything for the next 5~ years right?
256GB SSD with possibility to buy HDD in the future, rx580 with ryzen 5 2600(or some late gen intel i5) and 8GB ram, you could say it's best in slot for 1080p for the next few years
Stupid dumb nerd sissy
>best in slot
Neck yourself tranny
thanks user, I can't find any compatible motherboards through PCPartPicker tho
I just dont see any reason to own a gaming PC anymore. Id rather just go for low cost normiebook without dedicated GPU but a killer CPU and screen and Xbox/PS4/Switch
Or have the ultimate Switch/ps4 for exclusives/$3k PC for everything else combo
Be kind to me, I'm not a nerd and I'm very intelligent.
What’s 3 + 3 faggot.
Six unless you're trying to pull some sort of trick on me.

pcpartpicker.com
Idk what I'm doing at all, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. This is for 1440p 60fps
Get an MSI GPU and an ASUS motherboard, unless you go for something like B450 Tomahawk, which is an exception, MSI motherboards are trash and have awful bios. Get a Samsung SSD, the cost could hurt, so cut the size to 500 gigs. The rest seems fine
>his case has RGB
Wow. Nice Monitor. Wow
Any suggestions on which gpu? And what exactly does one look for in a motherboard? I'm not too well versed.
nothing special, the chair is comfy though
>actually replied
Not very smart are you.
Gimme a good motherboard to upgrade my i5-3570K. I don't want no AMD trash.
How bout dis?
pcpartpicker.com
still using my gtx970 + i5 6600k. pissed off these EVGA PSUs keep having shitty fans that squeak though and the jews only send refurbished units back with the same problem.
what would be a good alternative to an EVGA G2 850w? I originally had a 650w for reference.
might wanna check the compatibility notes if you havent already. it says there's some inconveniences
How long until they’re readily available though?
I’m in a similar boat and have come up the conclusion that a full rebuild is the best option.
>need to upgrade CPU
>MOBO obviously needs to be replaced as well
>MOBO and CPU demand DDR 4 so gotta get new RAM
My gtx1060 is about the only thing I can salvage and maybe my power supply but I’m probably better off just selling my old system for a couple hundo to go towards my new build.
On a side note, anyone have a recommendation for a good CPU for total war? I want to have le epic battles but my the game turns into a slide show with too many units on screen.
1050 ti plays sekiro on highest 1080p at 45-60 fps
>tfw 2400g poorfag
>tfw can run literally every pc game at 1080p
feels good man
imagine buying a gpu in 2019
>And what exactly does one look for in a motherboard
Good heatsinks and none of that overdesigned big red gamer garbage that offers no actual heat dissipation and serves to increase the heat instead because of how poorly it's built and implemented. POST signals to actually know what exactly is wrong and where it is if your PC suddenly stopped booting and a flash bios button, so that you wouldn't have to dig out the battery from your mobo each time you had introduced an unfortunate change or had shit ram installed. Memory overclocking capabilities, if you are interested in it. You'd also want decent quality VRM's, but at this point (and for the last ten years) every motherboard manufacturer has been lying about the number of phases and component quality of those, so there isn't really that much to choose from unless you go for motherboards that cost over $200.
Your other build looks decent enough, just replace that Intel SSD with a Samsung one of similar price/performance or as close as you can get. They're the highest quality and longest lived on the market right now due to their firmware.
My setup
I'll probably upgrade my GPU soon but honestly i'm fine at 1080p/60fps which I can easily handle on this. Plus of the two RTX cards I bought both crapped out after a week so i'll probably wait to see what Navi is all about.
I have trouble not replying to people even when they're being mean to me.
>play far cry 5 on ye olde pc
>can barely keep 40 fps on low settings
>doh well time for a new pc
>plays the game perfectly
>but pc is also making straining noises
Read it's something about the ubisoft coding but made the game unplayable with that constant noise.
why are you buying a 1070 right now when 2060 beats it and it's cheaper and newer generation, and there's even 2070 and the new amd ones coming in the summer probably
>when 2060 beats it
No it doesn't, don't lie to people. 2060 "beats" it by 2 fps only in a handful of games that were specifically tailored to fit 2060 better, in every other case 2060 is worse than 1070 and performance varies from 5 to 10%
>"no it doesn't beat it!"
>proceeds to explain how it beats it
Great argument
>tfw poverty tier gayman pc
The 5 to 10% performance increase was in favor of 1070, not 2060.
>No it doesn't, don't lie to people. 2060 "beats" it by 2 fps only in a handful of games that were specifically tailored to fit 2060 better, in every other case 2060 is worse than 1070 and performance varies from 5 to 10%
Sorry, but you're full of bullshit. Go check a handful of benchmarks and come back
750 ti was based but it's time to change user
It's time to change everything but i can pretty much medium-high every new game with my shitty monitor, user.
>tfw sekiro at 60 fps (with occasional framedips) with a gtx750ti
Rtx 2060 beats the GTX 1070 on 95% of games, with the GTX 1070 having a barely 5% performance increase compared to the Rtx 2060 on the remaining 5%. And those are all older games too. You got it all wrong
Dumb. DUUUUUMMBB.
Benchmarks done by people not sponsored by Nvidia that aren't running Battlefield V.
If you play on 720p ou 768p on a small enough monitor that you can't tell the difference I guess it's not that bad
>>Showing off your expensive shit?
The most expensive thing I have is probably this 1080
>>Plans for a build?
just to continue upgrading this one

>>Need help with anything?
ehh not really. I might need a new motherboard but don't really know how to look for a good one
>>Playan?
Risk of Rain 2 and Nioh
You're fucking retarded. How the fuck do you compare gpu performances? You get a "feel" of what one should be performing better, based on the one you want to? Everyone who disagress are shills? Fucking idiot. Stop spreading misinfo and start thinking critically. The Rtx 2060 is better than the 1070, and cheaper too, there's nothing you can do about that.
Yeah i play on a 768 monitor and its not that bad really. I even upload lets plays and render it to 1080p
This user is now furiously searching all the internet and youtube for a single instance where someone says the 1070 is better than the 2060. He will not be back
Here you go, you can play gta 5 better with a 1070.
game-debate.com
Oh wait were they paid by nvidia too? How does that even make sense if the 2060 is cheaper?
Have a 1080gtx. Would it be worth upgrading it to an RTX for streaming?
>ask for advice then argue about the dumbest shit
waiting for comet lake/zen2 to consider an upgrade, but then I'd also have to change my mobo so meh
I'll probably wait for 8c/8t i5s whenever they come out, and the 3060/2660
I need to send the asus 1080p screen to rma since it's having some issues
the 19" 900p screen is top comfy though
There's no arguing, one user is being fucking retarded
>>Showing off your expensive shit?

>>Plans for a build?
Nope, mines will last me for at least another 4 to 5 years
>>Plans for upgrades?
Thinking of getting some more ram, I know it'll be overkill but I want to be comfty AF, and possibly an NV.Me
>>Need help with anything?
I can always go to /g/. thanks though

lmao 1070 isn't even a competitor to the 2060, only the 1070 ti is
Ordered a Sony Optical Disc Archive gen 2 drive and a few 3.3tb cartridges for it the other day. Came out to a little over $7200. I already have several M-disc blu-ray drives and an M-disc will last longer than the Archive carts but they will still last a long time.
Ordered 3 more cases too, I've been stocking up on cases with at least 3 5.25 bays because most new cases, even full or super size, don't have even 1 bay and I don't like the minimalist tempered glass design fad. Minimalist in both appearance and functionality.
Still not willing to spend even 1 cent on a download license
I don't understand a single thing of what you just said
No. If you're into streaming then invest in a better CPU.
Not that user but some games don't like it when you alt tab
neither does he
what fucking monitor do i get. i just want 1080p cause i cant handle 4k.
Gotcha. Was planning on getting an i7-9700k.
I'm not a tech savvy person but I know I must upgrade something
Definitely your graphics card
what should i get
I want to get a 1440p 144hz freesync monitor, so to get the most out of it I'll eventually have to upgrade. I still have a 2500k and a GTX 1070. I'd like to get a Ryzen 3700x.
I'm waiting for AMD to reveal Navi, and for Intel to reveal their GPUs before I upgrade mine. I'm not buying RTX because I don't care about 4k or meme tracing.
My College Setup
I'm using an R9 Fury. I wanna get a Vega 56, but I also wanted to wait for the next gen for the price to go down a little. Kind of losing my willpower here, and also Bitcoin/crypto might see a resurgence soon, and it's starting to look like waiting may be the worse possible move. Help.
you can probably get a 1080p 120hz monitor for cheap ~200$ these days
how much money are you willing to spend? Also you need to upgarde pretty much everything, only the gpu won't change much
wait until the summer the new Navi amd gpus will probably come out
Need a new desk
Gonna upgrade my shitty small desk (can barely fit a mouse and keyboard) to a new big one as my brother is moving out, and i get to finally have my own room and renovate it. I've been thinking of getting this, as i looks pretty comfy and fits nicely in terms of dimensions and whatnot. Gonna get another monitor so i can go dual, does Yea Forums think this desk is good or is a pretentious design?
im looking at a 144 1080p for $200, i should probably just do it
Not seeing tomorrow-kino hurts my eyes
Seems good
Found some pretty comfy builds with it online
I'ts modern but definitely pretensious, I like more traditional ones but tastes are tastes
Will till the summer.
cool setup, where can I buy cute dog?
>RX 580 8GB

My water cooler is going out I think, has anyone ever experienced this? H80i is plugged in and lights up but my computer overheats after prolonged use. Corsair link no longer communicates with my h80i as well. Finally, the water cooler only has a 3pin plug and my motherboard cpu fan outlet has 4 pins. Is it my water cooler ?
>just got a 1440p ips monitor
>720p looks like shit now
also fuck, 27 inch is actually too big
Do you have it or are you buying? If you have it that's fine, If you're buying I´d get a ryzen 5 2600, 3000 ram and wait for the new amd gpus
>Hackintosh
>Ryzen
>Nvidia
Are you all fucking stupid?
I love my ultrawide but to be honest I'm thinking of just getting rid of it and replacing both monitors I have with some matching 16:9 4k ones.
Same with a CRT tv to play older consoles, it's probably best to keep a 720p monitor around too
>don't buy this monitor because a game from 20 years ago doesn't support it
kek
I swear everyone has that exact painting in their home
My 1tb drive I've been using for years through two rebuilds is starting to be noisy as fuck. I'll be sad to see the fucker go
I think its a matter of getting used, I'm like 70~80cm from my 32 inch screen
Yeah it's pretty bland I'll give you that, any recommendations?
Yes
backup your sister's nudes right now before it goes to shit
>2060
>ryzen2
RTSs died for this
I don't exactly dislike it, I just see it around too much. I like landscapes and rain, but you should be the one deciding it
I want to build a VR ready gaming pc with a 1080 for close to $1000. But 1080’s refuse to drop below $500. What the fuck do I do.
Thinking of grabbing a new GPU this year, will I see significant gains just replacing the GPU in this rig, and would it have to be RTX to see those gains?
4k is a meme and wasted money, wait a couple more years for at least better refresh rates on 4k monitors, and better gpus to make use of them
>and better gpus to make use of them
I swear I've been reading this exact same comment for the past 5 years now. Would a 2080ti not be enough?
i've been using it for quite some time now, thanks for your advice
Save more money, get another, cheaper gpu (rtx 2060 or wait for Navi), or buy used (don't)
True but I would love to replace, I just can never seem to find something I like, landscapes and rain can be pretty nice too.
>a good monitor
Unironically doesn't exist. When it comes to monitors you pick the one that's least worst.
depends on how much are you willing to spend and what significant gains mean to you. Rtx 2060 or gtx 1660 ti would already be a solid upgrade, depending or what i5 that is, also consider replacing your ram for 3k mhz
I don't think so, it's still only around 80-90 fps on newer games. You can always turn down settings tho. But then you won't find a good 4k monitor to take advantage of it
I'm happy with 60fps since I post to youtube
Thanks user. Had no idea 2060’s were cheaper than 1080’s and faster too.
So a $1000-$1200 VR ready gaming pc should be possible then? Any idea what processor I should go with?
Forgive my babby ignorance, used to be up on all this stuff before some fucks kicked my door down and took every electronic I own two years ago. Now my Vive collects dust.
How do I make Nier Autotata run without crashing, fucking piece of shit port, already installed FAR and it still crashes every 10 minutes
That's a matter of preference then, if you're really absolutely fine with 60hz, then go for a 4k monitor
Explain?
2060s are not faster than 1080s, but only a bit behind. Way cheaper tho
I'm guessing they still haven't released that patch they PROMISED us. Try enabling debug mode in the Nvidia control panel. If it still happens then maybe it's a high precision event timer issue or something.
>So a $1000-$1200 VR ready gaming pc should be possible then?
Maybe, I think if you get a build with a 2060 + ryzen 5 2600 for around that price.
When it comes to monitors, all of the regular priced monitors have drawbacks one way or the other. These include poor response time, backlight bleed, bad viewing angles, poor colors, color banding/dithering, poor contrast and so on. And so, when choosing a monitor you have to decide which drawbacks bother you the least and then research which monitor fits your preferences. It's annoying but it is what it is.
>spend 2 hours scrolling through the Steam PC catalogue or searching in google "best [genre] games on PC"
>pirate a game play it for 30 minutes get bored uninstall
>end up just refreshing Yea Forums instead
feels good to be "master race" I guess
Disable hyperthreading. After running Nier automata, go to task manager, details tab and find Nier automata.exe, right click, choose afinity and disable every second CPU. SO keep 0, disable 1, keep 2, disable 3, etc. This will absolutely work, but you'll have to do it everytime you run the game. There's probably a better way to do it with a batch file bu I always did it like this, Also get rid of the FAR mod unless you have a potato pc, absolutely not needed
Running a GTX970 and thinking about picking up a 1660ti but the recent HR Texture Pack for MHW has me wondering if 6GB VRAM is enough future proofing.
Playing at 1080p.
>have to do black magic just to get a PC game to run on PC
fuck Japan desu
That's very annoying to do on my $20000 56c112t cpu. I'll play mine sweeper instead.
I know you're joking but that can easily be done with a batch file if you find out what the affinity number is for a 56 core cpu
>Spend all day at work thinking about what I'm going to play when I get home
>Get home and use my 1080 to browse Yea Forums for hours before going to bed
Dumb as fuck.
It's faster GDDR6 vram so it should be fine, there's no way to tell if it's future proof though. You cna always wait for the AMD Navi competitors, those will probably have similar performance but more vram, like always
All it takes is a single great game to get the "click" back anons, you'll find yours soon
Fuck my life. $150 price increase for marginal performance increase. My former PC had a 1080, I don’t think I can handle a downgrade.
Guess I just have to wait.
>This fucking mentally ill degenerate is STILL attention whoring and this isn't even a /bst/
MODS DO YOUR FUCKING JOB
How is ibuypower prebuilts for a first PC? All I've ever had is laptops and I wanna spend like $1,600 or so on a computer in a few months
don't buy prebuilts unless you're literally too mentally handicapped to assemble the equivalent of a lego set
Build it yourself faggot. Don't be a pussy.
What prices are the 2070s? Those are better than the 1080, probably around the same price
Is the GTX Titan still ok? It still plays all the games I want.
But building sounds scary and I dunno what to buy and junk
What part picker is that compadre?
How long should i wait to upgrade this setup?:
CPU: I5 7400
RAM: 1x8GB DDR4
GPU: GTX 1050ti
Im thinking of buying a 1660ti and 2x16GB of ram but honestly i dont play AAA garbage that much and the only thing that has been annoying me is my lack of RAM.
Watch a couple of youtube videos and you're done.
cyberpuerta.mx
It's really easy to build your own pc user, any retard can do it. Plus nowadays you have tons of help and guides online too. If you spend those same 1600$ building your own pc, a prebuilt one with the same specs would go for 2500$ or more
Go to a PC shop and ask them to build a PC for you after you select the parts.
Then lie on Yea Forums that you built it.
Finally made the jump from 60hz to freesync 144hz, hope its a noticeable difference.
Sounds like a solid upgrade, but if you don't need a new gpu, wait until you do
Start with what GPU and Cpu you want, rest is just what is compatible. For 1600$, start a build with a rtx 2070
I've been sat on about £2,000 I'd put aside for a new build for ages now on the assumption there'd be a game sooner or later that would make it worthwhile, but nothing has come along yet.
Built the current one for Witcher 3 and have only upgraded the GPU since then and everything is still fine, 1080p/60fps at high/max depending on game, which is fine for me.
Not going to be doing the new one until Cyberpunk at this rate.
yeah i've been thinking of just waiting it out until i buy a GPU but i dont have a reason to until at least the next console gen comes out.
Also before someone says that i only need 16GB of ram, ill have them know that for some reason the price on the 8GB stick that i have on my machine skyrocketed so it would make more sense for me to buy 2 new 16GB sticks for futureproofing against retarded devs who dont optimize their games
Center your build around your monitor
Where can I find info on PCI-E slot spacing for motherboards.
Looking to build a new rig with SLI and have a slot inbetween the cards but from what I can tell, the fucking 600 MSI motherboard is the only one that would enable this. z390 btw. I mean what the actual fuck!
You absolutely don't need that much ram user, if you're having performance issues, it's probably a cpu or gpu bottleneck, or you're keeping a browser with way too many tabs open while playing putting too much stress on your low/mid range build
pcpartpicker
>or you're keeping a browser with way too many tabs open while playing putting too much stress on your low/mid range build
But user how can i possible play a modern game without also having 60+ shitposting tabs open + 500 hentai tabs open?
what are you talking about? they don't have any info on their about that
It’s so easy now, just like legos. Remember the hard times boys?
>haven't played anything recently but Metal Slug and the PC ports sucked
Crank that lever, coward.
I think I'll upgrade CPU/Motherboard/RAM next year. So far my old Haswell has been doing alright.
CRRRRRAAAAAACCCCCKKKKKK
I’m allergic to something about my PC so can’t really use it. Anyone else have this? When it’s on it gives me an allergic reaction
You'll absolutely notice the difference when you get ram at least 3x as fast as that
Yeah sorry I meant 2070s are a $150 jump for marginal increase over the 2060. And 2070’s cost basically the same as a 1080. Fucking why. I just want to lose myself in VR again without spending $1500 on top of the $700 I already blew on the vive just to get a PC that performs the same as the one I already had.
Sorry about the razer shit, but I needed a cheap pair of usb headphones and they were $10.
I have no idea why my ram says unknown, its just some corsair shit.
There is nothing wrong with most razer products hating on them is just a meme.
Rate my rig lads, almost two years old. I plan to ugrade some parts later this year.
Eventually want to upgrade to Ryzen 3xxx or maybe even wait another generation.
This 2012 CPU still running strong though.
I have a razer headset and keyboard, the biggest problem with them is their shitty app that eats CPUs and crashes all the time, I don't even care about RGB I just want macros
Wrong.
What the fuck hahah. In case you’re not messing with us, maybe the fans are kicking up dust. Open it up and blast it with canned air, and wear a mask lol.
I didn't say not to buy it. I know it doesn't support because have an UW monitor and played lots of diablo with all three episodes.
>Open it up and blast it with canned air,
Don't do this it can squirt out liquid and destroy electronics.
Use a chimney bellows or a bike pump.
>buying used gpu
retard
Throw all that physical media away and get yourself a decent desk ffs.
Gracias
Uh yeah if you hold the can upside down or shake it up a ton
My 4 years old rig.
i5-4440
GTX 970
8gb RAM
Samsung 840 evo 250Gb
Random 1TB HDD
Not really looking to upgrade, I play 1080p, the most demanding thing I ran this year was probably DQ11 and it ran fine. My 8Gb RAM is single channel though, I was wondering/ tempted, would I benefit much changing that too 16 gb dual channel, and could I get by just trying to find the same one I have, or is smarter to just buuy a 2x 8 Gb set and try to sell that 1 8Gb excess module?
Or spray it for too long. Just stop for a bit if it gets too cold.
not much space to work with but it works for me
You're giving a very good argument as to why you shouldn't use this on electronic components that costs hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Built this three years ago and I'll probably build a new one sometime this year. I want to go all out next time.
can someone explain a brainlet why some of my games stutter when they are installed in a Hardrive but not when moved to a SSD.
fuck you staircase crocodile man, i want answers
Been sitting on a shitty rig for a year now but I'm too stupid and lazy to come up with a build
I'm hoping this build will leave me without want for an upgrade for at least 5 years
>A 2GB 770 still does 1440p 60fps.
playing what shit game?
try doing this with warhammer 2 and you wont even get console tier fps
arent external DACs better?
so how is it?
those chink monitors scare me
>same case and CPU cooler as me
what CPU and clock speed? delid?
Yeah, if you're spending a buttload of money. You can get a pretty decent sound card for 100 bucks, any dac you get for 100 bucks is trash.
get an NH d15 CPU cooler instead. liquid cooling requires more maintenance
>NH d15
>Shit colored fans
No goddamn thanks.
My friend has one and swears by it, but I can't tell the difference between what he has and what I have, which is as follows:
us.creative.com
I maintain that you need to spend four figures on a set up to notice any difference between in-case DACs (which are on soundcards) and external DACs. It's not bullshit, it really isn't, the audiophile community overpays and willingly does so. If you are not an audiophile, you won't notice a difference between a sound card and a cheap external DAC because they're exactly the same thing. Audiophiles will chime in with the "electrical noise" argument, which is valid, but they also probably paid a pretty penny on their setup and their equipment probably picks up electrical noise better than the average asshole's.
I am saving up to get a really good PC, it will take a long time to gather the cash though so I have time to research what I need to know.
In any case, any tips? sites I can use? Thank you in advance.
is frequency response important?
There is tons of USB headphone DAC/AMPs on Amazon for under $60 now.
I bought Syba headphone amp for $14 and it was literally better than a FiiO one that costed over $100.
If you're spending a lot of money, yes. Otherwise, not really. If you're on a budget, spend most of your money on speakers or headphones.
I'm waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 before I make any plans for an upgrade. Still rocking a 6700k and 390 8GB.
get a 144hz 23-25" monitor
the most important thing is a good display. then headphones, then performance.
i need one for actual speakers. im using HDMI to this cnet.com
Bought the Dark Base Pro 900 Rev. 2 for my new build.
Reversing it was a bitch, but god damn do I love this case. I don't think I'll ever need another case (unless some new gigaretard form factor becomes the norm)
I also never knew I needed a PSU shroud, but it looks sexy as fuck.
>tfw 4.8 Ghz chiplet
I wanted into the 5 Ghz club, but Prime95 denied me.
You will treat me with kindness and respect.
Most of the time it is 60fps on my laptop occasionally it will hitch to 45 yeah, I mean I play on the lowest settings and am still happy.
>everytime i see the razerlogo somewhere
>mfw
unironically buying overpriced plasticgarbage fucking idiots
>59hz 80w space heaters
fuck off retard
Looking to build an HTPC that can do 4K streaming and game at least 1440p or 1080p60fps consistently. My dumbass got the case first.
do you have low RAM? the shit you need for the game to run is loaded into RAM, so other than long load times, there shouldnt be stuttering due to the HDD unless your RAM is too low to hold all the info, so whatever needs to be loaded in has to be read from the disk and transferred to RAM on the fly. at least thats my understanding of it
did I do fine for a first build in a long time?
Only if you need the extra speed and better thermals (yes some cards do overheat).
was thinking about getting this case but I think i'd rather go with the PC-O11 Air and im going to fill it with noctua's
You'll treat my dick with your boibussy
>my current battlestation is nearly 10 years old
>My only computer is 5 years old which is basically 12 in laptop years for media production purposes
>9900k with a 1070
>2080 is barely better than a 1080ti so I should stick with my shitty 1070 but buy a $600 processor that won't do shit for me
Who's the retard? It's you.
I actually think my CPU is kicking the bucket, because I can't record with it encoding overloading. So, I'm stuck with using my GPU now.
Life is suffering sometimes, friend.
