I been watching some videos of people describing class viability, and they shit really hard on resto druid. Are this analysis from private servers accurate? I know not having a res hurts them in regular dungeoning, but in raids I don't remember them being gimped at all.

Do you think people will be elitist when raiding to the point that they won't invite things like hunters to raids over mages? Back when I used to run BWL people didn't know shit, we had a paladin healing us with mostly ret talents and we still beat it multiple times. With people knowing more these days, will people gatekeep others for not playing the optimal classes?

There's a buff limit alongside a debuff limit, if you try to HoT someone in a raid they're going to blast you for pushing their flask off their buff table.

They have the best HP to Mana ratio on their main spell, but Healing Touch has a massive cast time. Resto Druids are just too reliant on HoTs which can't be spammed to be good healers in 40 man raids. That said there's still going to be a few druids in every raid at absolute worst.

The entire reason they're making Classic is to entice people to get back to BfA, that's why there's a shared sub. They expect you to start raidlogging Classic relatively quickly and spend your downtime doing WQs and shit in BfA.

Probably mage or rogue. Mages have to trade water, buff the raid with intelligence and remove curses in many fights. Your class stays relevant the whole expansion and doesn't require respeccing if you want to do something else than raiding.

Rogues are also easy as fuck although you're gonna have to craft poisons and gather herbs in order to get rogue-specific stuff like thistle tea and vanish powder. But just like mage, rogue is a top tier class from beginning to the end and you don't have to waste gold for respec when you want to just kill some high level mobs in EPL.

Also group buffing isn't that bad. There are reagents for it and they last for an hour. Just avoid playing Paladin, their raid buffing is actually cancer. It's so bad that you have to download an addon just to make it fast.

He's right about 1.12 AV though. It's much faster than the previous versions. Rest is pretty much bullshit. The r14 weapons added in 1.11 are pretty strong but you aren't going to see many of them, and only select few of them are stronger than BWL stuff, like the healer mace.
The real problem with the pvp itemization are the level 60 blue pvp gear that was introduced in 1.11. Those are actually strong as fuck. Some of them are actually stronger than the r12/13 gear due to the 2 part set piece, and they shouldn't be available from phase 2. This change alone makes me worried that they will also have those 'catch up' blues in level 60 dungeons from the get-go. Some of them are stronger than epic items from Molten Core. That shouldn't be the case in the beginning.

We don't know if those items are going to be there, since they haven't clarified about that AND said that items will only appear when respective phase will come, at least when it comes to PvE. We just have to bug them hard enough that they clarify and, in the case of AQ pvp gear being available from the start, reconsider.

I have a feeling I won't like classic, but I hope I do. I have been playing as a horde paladin since wrath though and I don't know if I will like hunter when I go back to classic. Leveling a warrior sounds terrible, but it sounds like the best end game experience and priest sounds great if I want to go healer. I just don't think I'd want to go dps only.

Priest are good at leveling and wanted in all groups.
Hunter is wanted but not in mass but they make for great leveling and solo farming
Warriors are the best tanks and great dps but yes the leveling is hard as hell without maybe 1 other dudes or a group of friends

Mages and Locks are sometimes wanted for Tanking if that is something you could want
Locks are great leveling and wanted in raids while having great soloing
Mages are good leveling wanted in raids for food and buffs and have good soloing

Classic is using the modern addon API, so that version of healbot will be broken. You will always be able to downrank manually though.

Yes they can, in open world theres no way to catch a hunter, but if we are talking about strictly 1v1 duels, they have a really hard time because theres not much room to kite.

Although, lock vs hunter is pretty much 50/50, you can kill him but in most cases his dots are going to kill you after, it depends on how much time it takes for you to burst him, if you get luck crits, etc etc.

i played on nethergarde the last week and it was so good.
the experience, and the players have been so nice.
Everyone was friendly, everyone was playing together.
I am lvl 17 now and i had like 15 different questgroups , people who just invited me and i already know like 5 players who did something on lvl 10 who are now in the same zone and people greeting each other, giving buffs etc.

this is how it was supposed to be.
this is an actual mmorpg experience.

People wont clear all content in 6 months, with the release plan they are going, id say minimum of 2 years for everything to be cleared and on farm. Keep in mind not everyone in classic is a private server player (like me) and will be doing stuff on their own pace.

There are no good or bad communities, there are only good or bad games. Good games promote cooperation and competition in an enjoyable way. Bad games limit cooperation and mismanage competition.

Simple mechanics can have butterfly effects in an MMO. In example, Hogger was the first elite bosses you came across and he was too difficult to take solo for most people at the level you normally found him, in order to do his quest people would party up and take him down. Since he was also surrounded by other quests, people would often stick together afterwards and level together. Such an innocent and simple feature, but it meant that people learnt to overcome issues by partying up, and anecdotally I would play with those people for hours, and with one or two of them run into them continuously over my leveling experience. Suddenly, you might leave that group with one extra person on your friends list, someone you would run into and play with on and off. Now multiply that experience across your entirely leveling journey and suddenly you understand why players want to play classic again, for the 'journey' not the destination.

Now take LFG in retail WoW. Your group is assigned to you, they come and go as they please, the people you join a dungeon with wont be the people you leave that dungeon with. You dont care or have any community or interaction with these people since they act as nothing but extras in your singleplayer game. Nothing in the open world is challenging like Hogger is and you lreveling experience exists ONLY as a gateway to the 'eal game being raids.

Thats just one example of why Classic will survive a long time. It has mechanics which everyone takes for granted but which allow a good community to spawn from it. It doesnt matter if it has 1000 or 100,000 players, it doesnt matter if they are all ex-wow players, vanilla players who left, or entirely new. The mechanics of classic guarantee its community.

Vanilla WoW is more comparable to Runescape 2003 than it is 2007, vanilla was in a barely working state even at the end of it's cycle. While i will enjoy classic and probably nostalgia the fuck out over it i highly doubt all these wrathbabby and beyond posers will enjoy it as much as they're pretending to. Half of the specs aren't viable in most situations, many of the modern crutches that they rely on aren't there, some of the "balance" is downright laughable, etc.

I kinda want to play a warlock. To try out the class, I made a warlock on that instant level 60 private server and equipped him with full pre-raid best in slot. I went to kill a couple of mobs, and my voidwalker was having a very hard time keeping aggro. I'd put like three dots on a mob and cast a single shadowbolt and I'll pull aggro and voidwalker will have no chance of regaining it. This is kinda killing my interest in playing the class, since I want to have a comfy time grinding. Do voidwalkers normally struggle with keeping aggro as you get decent gear, does this server have bugged voidwalker threat generation, or am I just being an idiot somehow?

Wouldn't this set be pretty good for a paladin that wants to tank dungeons? Obviously raids are not possible, but if you just want to goof around with friends in dungeons, all this stamina, intellect, and spelldamage should make it pretty decent, right? How hard is rank 10? I only ever got to rank 7 in vanilla, but I was a retarded child and never really bothered, only played BGs for fun. I know the last few ranks are absurdly hard, like a month just from rank 13 to rank 14, but how much effort would it take if you only want to reach rank 10?

You can get to like rank 12 without a premade, although anything past 10 is a big challenge with just randoms. 10 is doable with effort.
That said if you want to tank dungeons but not be a Warrior, go Druid. Of all the specs that get memed about not being viable, tank paladin is probably the closest one to actually being not viable. You can do it, but you're not really better at it than a Warlock or Rogue or even a hunter pet.

If phase 3 releases in a similar time frame as AV/WSG were added after the honor system patch in vanilla, about 1.5 months, then it wouldn't be a long enough amount of time for anyone to hit r14 before bgs are added anyway. It means that there are actions which can be regarded as the absolute best choices. For WoW that means having a certain piece of equipment, doing a certain attack at a certain time for a boss, stunning a certain mob in a raid, having the approved talent tree, knowing the best path, party composition, items to bring, etc. etc. Chess has finite moves that are possible while having probably hundreds of thousands of gamestates most of which would never occur obviously since they'd require players to do bad moves which means they're not doing the move that correctly lead to the gamestate that offers a winning chance to them. The course of chess is therefore decide the most by the first couple of moves since possible gamestate outcomes shrink rapidly with each turn. The fact that a computer will ultimately always win against a human means it can factually calculate the correct path to the gamestate that will lead to victory. It solved Chess which obviously is a million times harder to solve than WoW, but it's the same. People solved WoW means they can be 100% certain that following the optimal pattern will make them win when they execute the pattern correctly. Please point out where I am wrong.

As far as I know the Japanese version of chess isn't solved, so people should maybe try to learn and play that instead. Seems way more fun anyways.

This announcement doesn't seem like it's "This is what we're doing, deal with it", it seems more like this is a starting point and they're fishing for people to come up with solutions for a better rollout, just like with the PvE content release.
