I usually keep at least one save at whatever far point I can so I can either replay the ending sequence or fool around with the maxed-out character if possible. I don't always like games where they just load you right into things after booting up, but mainly because I might have wanted to start from a manual save I had done last time I played or just wanting to enjoy the main menu before going straight into the game. One thing I think everyone hates are saves you can't delete and either end up having to delete the entire folder to start fresh or just avoid making too many saves when you play the game.
