Why can't the west produce good soundtracks? Only indie games get good amazing OST, AAA scores are forgettable at best

cuphead is good

Was actually going to make a thread about this but you beat me to the punch, OP. AAAshit has forgettable as fuck music, borderline nonexistent. I think it's the generic Hollywood movie music. There's no catchy melodies, personality or soul. Just a movie soundtrack.

What is Metal Gear Rising?

MGR was developed by japs though

A Japanese game

nice

Max Payne 3
Dying Light
TW3

normies don’t like good music they like radio wank. so devs have to include what sells

Something something Hollywood temp music mentality
See the Marvel Symphonic Universe

HALO?

are the 4 or 5 OSTs any good?

I was talking about this when people were bitching about the "mumble rap" in the MK11 trailers. It's incredibly boring to hear the tired old "epic gamer" orchestral score or whatever for every major release. And I sure as fuck don't want to hear the awful dubstep that they think all gamers love to listen to. I get that it's hard to appeal to everyone with so many varying tastes, but I'd rather hear something original or just different that is more of an extension of the game's character. Not some forgettable bullshit that I'd mistake for being in one of the Avengers or Transformers movies.

>Why can't the west produce good soundtracks?
Listen to some Frank Klepacki you red-anus faggot.

all mediocre

the only thing I remember him doing in the last 10 years is doing an Advanced Wars song for a dead indie game

Far Cry 5 had a pretty great soundtrack, ironically ubishit got a film composer for it.

Indie games try to create soundtrack based on their own preferences and so they have, dare I say, soul. AAA games try to have Hans Zimmer-esque OSTs because that's what the average pleb finds amazing.

Indie games are the only good games the west makes now.

>Why can't the west produce good soundtracks?

Donkey Kong Country 1,2 and 3 exist user.

>ironically ubishit got a film composer for it.
they ended up doing that for Crysis 2 as well and I thought it turned out pretty well

Don't Call of Duty games have great soundtracks?

Nigger have you heard of a indie game called fucking Halo

The only notable soundtracks in CoD are WaW and 3

Doom 2016

Japan's musics: catchy
Western musics: ambience

Black Flag has some god tier OST, it's the last AAA i remenber playing with some good ass soundtrack.

Marty O'Donnell's work for Halo CE to Reach and his work for Destiny is all excellent
STALKER's ambient guitar is great

most non-indie games, jap or western have shit soundtracks, that's just the way it be

He also has a track in Lethal League Blaze, I think.

Yeah it was made by japs, but the soundtrack was outsourced to Jamie Christopherson

>game has amazing composer early in the series
>composer is dropped for the new games because the studio just hired some cheap ass bullshit trailer music composer from the hans zimmer school of brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm and its the most soulless shit
