Finish translating Lastman you fucks
>v0.8
>Just cleaning up the script a bit and we'll be done
>last update 4 years ago
"Hey, sorry for the lack of updates again, I'm not dead yet. I'm still working on the game.."
>21/04/2013
2017 is two years ago.
Maybe the project is dead now ?
4 years seems a little long to clean a script. maybe it was a big script, that was written by a big team of scriptwriter, and only one book editor was available to clean it ?
6 years without update is either very bad, as in they stopped working on the game, or very good and they're fully focused on the game.
Hello to you, what is Lastman ?
Thank you for your time.
>When Klonoa: Legend of the Star is indeed entirely translated plot wise, but menus, tutorials and other stuff are glitched and really just left unpolished
... At least we have our plot.
>6 years
>last update: 2014
>it actually fucking releases
I don't think there's a single red flag stronger than the "We're not dead!" post from a dead subgroup.
>game is stuck at 80% for 3 years
>everyone loses interest
>guy posts that he recently got cancer and is going to focus on his family
>1 reply total
Goddamn why is Eternal Punishment PSP taking so long?
>translation finished
>only the revision is left
>Last message 1 year ago
As a rule of thumb any "I'm not dead yet" post should be treated as a confirmation that the creator/project is on its deathbed.
If you get really lucky you might get two or three more updates before it dies for good.
>what is Lastman
A french comic
translating sounds like fun
>creator comes back after years
>immediately starts producing content
>was practicing the entire time they were away
>can now take advantage of crowd funding to do this full time
It happened to me once. I swear.
Sneed.
I wouldn't even be mad about TL projects dying if they just put up the work they've done somewhere so others can take their place. Even if it's a shitty mess of code and scripting.
>Moon RPG translator: Sorry for disappearing for a year, we'll totally do weekly updates from now on : )
>last update: 5 months ago
>creates a patreon
>explicitly says they aren't gonna be one of those guys that starts a patreon and then disappears
>they disappear again
Just learn japanese and you'll never have to depend on these people ever again
But it's hard!
>translation that had its last update 5+ years ago suddenly releases
>Translation recently finished it's for a GBA Tales games from 2005
The fuck is wrong with the Tales community. FE fags translated a game that was going to get localized in less than a year in 3 months
>tfw SRT OG SAGA EF EXCEED NEVER EVER
Not to mention:
>Hey guys! We decided to stop translating and we are also taking down all the translations we have ever done! I hope you have enjoyed that the last thing we translated was the shittiest game in the series for an April Fools prank haha!
>When finished, this mod will completely remove Cait Sith from the game in favour of a new human character called Iscar Matthias. Iscar is from Judus Iscariot, and Matthias was the apostle chosen to replace him. I have chosen these names to be symbolic of the character's betrayal, and change into a valued ally. Iscar will change and grow as a character. At first he will be a simple Shin-Ra spy, dedicated to his job, but over time, he will come to understand that he is working for the wrong people and change sides.
>Cait Sith is a poorly written character that was probably shoe horned into the story late in development. The character has no logical or believable reason to join your party, or be allowed to join it. The idea that Reeve, a top executive for Shin-Ra, could or would remote control a toy robot cat mounted on top of a stuffed white toy as a tool for espionage, is ridiculous.
>Iscar will change the character model, script, FMV and battle related information. Cait will be utterly annihilated. Where possible I will stick to the original script. The basic plot will remain intact, except that it will be more plausible. I have actually had fanboys trying to rationalise the writing regarding Cait Sith. These people generally display an unbelievably poor understanding of fiction and writing (the usual excuse being "It's just fiction" *roll eyes*).
>Cait's going no matter WHAT you say.
Off-topic:
>I will get Super FX working in SD2SNES someday, but it will be YEARS from now. And the SA1........pipe dream, that's nearly impossible to do. So, go out and buy SMRPG and Yoshi's Island because it ain't happening.
>Wow, did you see a random fan posted a fan update to SD2SNES? He got Super FX and SA1 all working in one month just by himself!
JUST LEARN JAPANESE IT ISN'T THAT HARD
>Fate Extra CCC
>have to memorize a million kanji, some of them being written with the most intricate detail possible
no thanks
you basically memorize ~50 radicals, then kanji are pretty much like memorizing words. I don't blame you for not wanting to bother but it's not hard
At least you don't have to deal with Yea Forums's scanlator drama. Projects get dropped for the most trivial shit.
>people complaining about the editor adding his own jokes in translator's notes upsetting him and causing him to shut down translation forever
>people not donating enough to save a typesetter's dying mom or someshit
>translator got a gf and disappeared forever
>"you ingrateful bastards i quit, learn japanese yourself"
>editor goes on a rant on twitter that causes everyone to leave his group out of embarrassment
>editor changes the translation to be full of swearwords and black slang causing the translator to ragequit
don't keep up with Yea Forums scanlator drama but that doesn't sound to dissimilar to some good old /m/ subwars I've seen. I'm still not sure if anybody ever subbed the Gaim movie after Magenta had a meltdown over GG.
