If both get cut out in chapter 1, the cast is kinda screwed. I say leave one of them around long enough then off them by like chapter 3 or something. The one who dies in chapter 1 could be Makoto. Monokuma actually made a joke about this in the school mode ending when he was about to execute Makoto because the class didn't make enough parts for his Monokuma copy. That if Makoto didn't live long enough to become the protagonist, he would be the first victim due to his bad luck. The first prediction happened in the original game obviously so let the second prediction happen in this new game.

Aoi should have been a secondary red herring because Yasuhiro was too easy to cast aside. Yasuhiro should have been a better red herring anyways.
