Covenant at least kind of still had it, but it's completely gone in FTNW. Compare the Doll House optional dungeons of each game and you will see how much they lost the plot.

Puzzle platformer with a very storybook like visual style. The story is about a wolf that sings and a prince, and a journey they go on.

You play as the wolf and can transform between wolf and princess forms. Wolf form lets you attack enemies, but you need to be in human form to help the prince walk. You can also give him basic commands too though. You solve puzzles with those mechanics.

what changed gameplay-wise? i don't remember. you're probably right about optional content since that puzzle thing took a while, although i remember enjoying the dollhouse in sh1 more than the one in sh2.

they both had invisible rings though. those were great. it also makes for a fun revisit when you load up old saves years later, get into a battle, and go oh fuck.

I wouldn't say 3 was terrible but it had a weak plot. The gameplay still holds up and I usually find it odd that people give Frank shit but are ok with Joachim's gay vampire wrestling.
