What should I know

Don't be afraid of mixing up your party, don't play as shulk all game or keep the boring tank/DPS/healer combo

try to progress the main story at least 2 levels behind the enemies otherwise it gets way too easy to be fun
and play in the emulator in 4k,wii's regular resolution doesn't make it justice

-Healers are not needed
-Pretty much any party can work
-Skip side quests on your first playthrough, there are way too many and they will leave you overleveled

dont overly relay on sharla. its good to have a main healer at times but having her always in the party is a beginners trap. shulk and riki is good enough healers for most fights. dhuban replaces ryen as a tank when you give give him enough agility crystals.

Is it a good idea to use the EXP modifier code to get less experience? Actually, are the side quests even good?

Everything you think you know about this game is a lie! Leave this thread now and enjoy the game, don't come back until you finish it

dont focus so much on side quest. pick up "kill amount of X" or "collect amount of X" since those nuets are easy and they get turned in automatically. story side quests are more for NG+.

Some of them are entertaining and have lore about the world, it all depends on how much you enjoy the setting/world

The side quests are either kill X or collect X. There are like 5 interesting ones but the rest are a chore, only do them if you want to 100% the game

Why

I mean it in a good sense, you don't want to be spoiled, the game is that good IMO.

Hows is the 3ds version? I played through xbc2 and had a good time and just got a 3ds this week

The same outside of model viewer, sound test, no jap audio, and worse visual.

Only upside is portability, which doesn't really work for a long jrpg like Xenoblade. If it's your only way to play it though it's perfectly fine, there are just better ways if you can.

The full map of an area is automatically filled once you discover every named location within it - that's everything that has a specific name, not just landmarks/fast-travel spots. Don't waste your time trying to fill it in manually, it's a good way of telling when you haven't seen everything in an area yet.

Skip all the sidequests (except the few mandatory ones), or you'll completely ruin your experience.

Except in the Gadolt fight. Healing is pretty much necessary.
