Who plays a new pokemon game just to see old shittermon
>At launch
BW is the worst Pokemon game ever! I want to use my bros!
>10 years later
>BW was the best Pokemon game ever! I don't want to use old shitmons!
caterpie and it's evolution are great utility go fuck yourself
>Black and White had the right idea
In so many ways it did, yet faggots bitched and moaned and now we have XY/SM.
Congratulations.
Don't know about other anons, but I really dug it at the time and still do. I use a team of completely new pokemon every generation because I like seeing what they can do. I always make sure to include that generations gimmick as well just to give everything a taste. Never used Ninetales before and it got an Alolan Forme? Might as well use Ninetales in S/M. People who always have a Charizard or a Scizor on their team are lame.
New pokemon only every play through. Make it fun. I would have never used Dodrio, but I had already used Pidgeot and Fearow in Red/Blue so when FR/LG came out I used Dodrio and he was awesome.
I would gladly fuck caterpie
Haha
they are but I don't want to see them in every game
Only faggots complained about being stuck with new pokemon.
Sadly, they were in the majority.
That was because the vocal majority back then was people who grew up with Kanto. Now that the kids who played it first, are old enough to post here and share their opinions, proving that it was only bitter genwunners.
>in gen 6 and especially in 7, its much harder to find the newer pokemon in the wild
at least in 6 its because the regional dex was like 500 pokemon big but there's no excuse for sun and moon
I do native mon runs only too.
The only exception is BW2, because it os a sequal and they made it an instory thing that a bunch of mons from different regions migrated to Unova so I took that as a chance to use a mixture of gens of mons that I have yet to use.
R/S/E and D/P/Pt are the best. The first routes are only new mons.
It was whiny genwunners as usual, I don't get it though, I started with Red but I loved the change.
>Brand new generation of Pokémon
>70 new ones
>9 spots are starters and their evolutions
>2 for the rodent
>At least 2 for the bird
>At least 2 for the bug
>Another fucking dragon pseudo legendary line
>A Pikachu clone that the Japanese love for some reason
>15 legendaries set aside for post game
>One or two with extremely low encounter rates
>A few with stupid evolution gimmicks that have to be present in every game from now on
>About 30 new Pokémon you actually get to discover along your journey
Bw was only new mons untill postgame.
But its distribution is shit at the start of the game.
>Grubbin's encounter rate is 5-10% depending on the route he is in
Probably the worst offender.
This just proves my point that the only people who like BW/B2W2 are literal kids who started with them. Funny how the gen 4 kids never said anything, gen 3 kids before them are insufferable.
>Another fucking dragon pseudo legendary line
I actually kind of liked Kommo-o, but I would really like some non-dragon pseudos like metagross amd tyranitar.
We need a Pokedex cleanse, and a new philosophy for new games
Can you get a cool venipede.
It takes like what 3 badges to get to the really good ones.
Even then you can get some cool mons like Drillbur and venipede before that.
>Blue
>Krys
there's a bunch of gen 7 pokemon with 5% and 1% encounters with many of said pokemon only being available on one route in the entire game
on the flipside, ratatta line, wingull line and magikarp take up 60 to 80% of all encounters on literally every route
>Gen 6 ghosts
Fuck all of them.
Everyone loved B2/W2 though, and almost all of the criticism B/W had was muh new pokemon only.
here's your new pokemon, bro
LETS KEEP ONLY MAI FAVS XD
eat urself alive faggot
>no aegislash
overall good picks
Lillipup is at the very first route of the game.
Mimikyu is an all time great Pokemon.
The only people who hate on BW2 are retards.
The philosophy should be that no Pokemon that aren't in the regional Dex can ever be found in-game, you have to trade for them or see them from exotic in-game trainers.
This way you can have "the base 200" non-shitmons and then some 150 new ones without it feeling bloated like everything past Gen 5.
Stoutland is pretty great for something you can catch so quickly
The Pokémon available to you before the first gym are Lillipup, Patrat, Purrloin, and the monkey gifted to you. It's as low as a new Pokémon count gets for early game.
at least it's not gen 1 shit
Enough ideal chatter, show me your teams.
Krys didn't bother me untill someone pointed it outand I hate that.
I will remain steadfast with Blue though
To be fair the first gym is like right at the start of the game and they limited you that way to really hammer in "hey your starter will be weak to stuff" shit. After that the game opens up quite a bit with what you can get.
>hates gen 3 and 5
Well you obviously just don’t like Pokémon so move along
Read whats on the left.
My most recent one, anyways.
This is kinda the same problems with gen 4 and partially 5 of Monster Hunter.
>more old monsters than new ones
>like 15-18 new monsters
>3 or 4 spots are just super low tier garbage and dromes nobody cares about after 2 hours into the game
>couple of lazy reskins or literally recolors
>some cool 3-4* monsters which still becomes shit easy in the endgame
>an actual good flagship
>a grand total of usually 2 new monsters which can actually be used in endgame and are not Elder Dragons
>tanky dragon/fighting special attacker that has a gimmick move that lowers its defenses
Kommo-o is such a waste of potential holy shit
Those aren't my favorites retard, that list was made with the Pokemon designs in mind only, and cuts a lot of my favorite Pokemon. Gen 1 and 2 were included to avoid the main point getting sidetracked by Gen1/2babs' seething.
Pretty sure you can get drillbur, munna and the electric zebra before that too or atleast before the second gym.
You are mistaking BW for B2W2
>not liking Digimon: The Pokemon Generation 1 & 2 means you don't like Pokemon
>Blake
>Gwen
???
Maybe people like Gen 1 because it's what they grew up on
Why is it wrong to want Gen 1 material?
It's our fault game freak is lazy?
people who've always liked bw > people you described >people that suck dick > people who hate bw
too much special attackers
Well it’s a shit list and u should feel bad
Also gen 1 + 2 content doesn’t have to be in every game so it’s a triple fail
Everything about it is a failure
I am not gonna call them Blacktwo and whitetwo.
>Digimon
Nigga Gens 3 and 5 are the generations with the most animal like creatures in the series, what are you smoking, the only exceptions are the legendaries and the weird trio of vaniluxe, garbordor, and klinklang
You’re just a contrarian faggot, I bet you think Gens 1 and 6 are the best in the series
Do you literally not know how to read
Nate and Rosa you dumb fuck.
Best Gen one HM slave?
Funny you should say that, Starmie and Electrode have natures that hender their special attack. But I use them all anyway because they're all shiny pokemon I caught, it may be a bad call because I wind up losing more than winning
It's the fault of everyone who rejected the last games to appeal to non-babies.
>5% on a single location in the game while your usual kanto mons take up 80%
exactly the point i was making
for which game?
easily mew
>Kris
>Crystal
I'm going to commit suicide
Perhaps
Gen 3 was the first one to introduce actual Digimon into the games, and the nuCyber aesthetic bullshit that plagues the series to this day, and gen 5 doubled down on it (and then 7 did it again with Ultra Beasts, seems like the odd gens are cursed). 1 and 6 are shit but 6 has the best Pokemon designs out of any gen.
BW2 was the best simply because it had the largest regional dex and they actually went out of their way to fill early game with things that used to be rare or not encountered until late game.
Nothing topped its postgame content either.
My design philosophy for future pokemon games.
>Around 120-150 new pokemon per game
>Only new pokemon are encountered until post game where old ones can be found in safari zone type areas
>Longer time between new generations, 5-6 years each
>Go back to a singular third game like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, etc
>Don't be afraid to balance old Pokemon, nerf Landorus, buff Qwilfish, combine Nidoran male and female into a single pokemon, etc
>Make breeding take less time and make IVs easier to transfer to encourage legitimate pokemon, everyone I know just injects.
>Better post game on par with Emerald / HGSS
>Retire old legendaries, only way to obtain them is by transferring in from older games or from events
>Less legendaries per game. 10 should be the max per regional dex.
>More creative pseudo legendary lines. Where's our poison pseudo line or bug line?
That is one retarded hot take
holyfuck ruby is based
I still wanted the black and white thene.
Do not question my naming autism okay?
It works in a way that only makes sense in my head.
>>Less legendaries per game. 10 should be the max per regional dex.
Way too many, even 3 is pushing it.
My team or what game you want to post for?
Actually, gen 1 was gen with an actual digimon
Blake
Whitely
You fucking retard
>Saying this when gen1 and gen2 literally had a digital monster in it's dex.
Call it what you want but it's the truth. Shit like Ultra Beasts has its roots in RSE and its legendaries/new aesthetic design philosophy.
That was a one off justified with story, the rest were firmly Pokemon-like until gen 3.
Speak for yourself faggot. I loved having no idea what was going to come out of the grass in Black. I shut myself off from every Pokémon site until I beat the game so I wouldn't get spoiled on new mons.
Gwen mean white too.
So it's fine too.
pls stop bullying.
>fucking Whitely
>not Whitney or Winona
lmaoing at your life
No its fucking autism and you're a dipshit for expecting people to take you seriously.
>DURRRR ULTRA BEASTS LOOK LIKE DIGIMON
Thanks for sharing, dumb fuck.
Few people actually think BW is the best. It’s just a handful who go into every Pokémon thread and spam how they’re the best
I actually loved some of the new Pokémon so much it didn’t fucking matter. Joltik, drilbur, litwick, gigalith, etc. were incredible and I loved them instantly. Over time some of the ones I didn’t care for much either got great models/exposure that made me love them(eg cofagrigus) or I just slowly started to like their designs, like sawk and throh.
All of gen 3 can stay
Just so you know, this looks like fucking dogshit
See this shit? Every complaint for the design on the right, regardless of how memey, is about aesthetic changes introduced to the core of Pokemon in RSE. They tried to cash in on the early 2000s futurism hype bandwagon and never abandoned it.
It's my fault bros. I decided to pass on B/W because I figured they would do a third version type thing, so I only bought the 2nd one... If I hadn't ignored Pokémon for the first part of gen V the games wouldn't be so shit today
>doesn’t like gens 3, 5 or 7
>Gens 1 and 6 are shit
Ok so I stand by what I said, you don’t like Pokémon
Also
>nu-cyber
Pokémon was always a slightly more advanced take on our own world so moot point
You're a fucking moron.
Nice non-argument faggot
Your argument might have some weight if you weren’t so wrong
Gens 3 and 4 still very much have artistic influence from the OG sugimori style, look at any concept art for RSE
>5"11 vs 6"0
When will they learn?
Why would anyone want to argue with a dumb fuck who goes DURRRR ITS ALL DIGIMON SINCE GEN 3
Doing a Nuzlocke run in Emerald right now and this is my party (I'm at mossdeep city right now, haven't battled Tate and Liza yet)
I've also got Skarmory, Anorith and Gloom
Should I replace anything from my party with one of those?
if you play any official pokemon game after emerald you must have a pathetic life
Flygon will probably die, that's when you bring in Skarmory.
I’d imagine skarmory would outclass linoone in utility
Pokemon design is still as good as it used to be with a few lows in there
for each ash-greninja you have like, 3 golisopods in terms of bad to good designs and this goes to pretty much every gen
the problem modern pokemon is more down to content and difficulty and gamefreak not trying at all with the new games because people will buy em no matter what
Replace walrein with one of them.
You already have best water starter no need for walrein.
Apparently Magnemite in SuMo is godlike because it's a steel type so early on in the game
Kind of.
I mean, GF was always incompetent but they tried their best. It's like the western reception to black and white just killed their drive.
>joltik
im okay with this-
>no reuniclus
fuck you buddy
Friendly reminder that Genwunning is for 40 year old incels and facebook posters
Be better than that Yea Forumsros
It had traces of it but only when necessary, the rest of the aesthetic was obviously focused on a rural/country vibe where the series got its roots. Just compare the legendaries, even the most Digimon-y in the first two gens, Mewtwo, is still biological looking, whereas almost every legendary in gen 3 has retarded tech-like lines/patterns on it and looks like a robot. Also I'm talking purely about aesthetics and Pokemon designs, 1 and 6 just so happen to be shit.
The problem is that it shifted from the original style with traces of the tech-like style, to the tech-like style being the focus, with traces of the original style.
I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.
game to post for, but i guess ill post my most recent team anyways
Decideueye, LycanrocM, Golisopod, Furfrou, Araquanid and Noivern
>whereas almost every legendary in gen 3 has retarded tech-like lines/patterns on it and looks like a robot.
On what planet do they look like robots?
You're all autistic
Fuck genwunners they're pathetic
Yeah, and despite the nu-cyber aesthetic, hoenn and sinnoh still feel more nature lush than Kanto or Johto
And again, yeah the legendaries are strange looking, but that’s not bad, the series would be very dull if it had always been as down to earth as creatures like mewtwo
Deoxys is an advanced-looking alien, all of the Regis look and behave like robots, Latios and Latias were literally based on airplanes, and all of the three main legendaries have unnatural lines all over their bodies, clean segmented armor parts, and shiny metal-like textures. Jirachi is pretty much the only one that resembles a usual Pokemon.
Sinnoh maybe, but Hoenn is the most artificial-feeling of any Pokemon regions.
>hoenn feels artificial
>but glowing florescent grass isn't
I'm fine with older Pokemon being in as long as they don't overwhelm the new ones like they did in Gen 6. There's so many previous Mons in Kalos that their encounter rates are abysmal and many of them are in very specific grass patches.
Sewaddle line is the best bug evolution line
>Deoxys is an advanced-looking alien, all of the Regis look and behave like robots, Latios and Latias were literally based on airplanes, and all of the three main legendaries have unnatural lines all over their bodies, clean segmented armor parts, and shiny metal-like textures
That doesn't answer the question. In fact I'm the case of the box legends you're seeing details that don't exist. By the same logic I could say that Zapdos like a robot and apply the exact same description given it has two separate wing layers and legs that look like they were tacked on. Then I could just use its dreamworld artwork and say its shiny.
Gen 7 is worse, at least Gen 6 has a massive dex, Gen 7 has a regular amount of Pokémon per route and shit like grubbin (the regional bug ffs) has what, 5% encounter?
>Regis look and behave like robots
I mean they’re golems, is this really a bad thing?
None of it is bad, it's just different and deviated from the original Pokemon aesthetic. I personally don't like some of it, but I believe it's fair to say it's "Digimon-like".
>but I believe it's fair to say it's "Digimon-like".
Sure if you don't know what a digimon is.
>I believe it's fair to say it's "Digimon-like".
Do you even know how Digimon behave? They act more or less the same as humans, so pokemon acting like "robots" isn't exactly digimon-like at all.
Hey, people did want SM to be XY's gen 2. They got just what they wanted.
For the third time, talking about aesthetics. I actually prefer Digimon to Pokemon.
Monster Hunter’s problem is that the team doesn’t like having to create new assets or update existing ones if they can get away with it
There’s an interview where they state the Seltas and Seltas Queen were especially challenging for the team because they needed new skeletons and unique cooperative AI that no other monster has used then or since
I agree. It's why 5th gen is my personal favorite gen, even if overall the games have been getting better every gen.
t. hoennbabby who lives in a favela
Yes we know you're talking about aesthetics but the fact of the matter is that they have no Digimon like features
They do by virtue of being "rule of cool" arbitrary designs in the vein of Digimon, with busy looking tech patterns and parts.
I love Black and White, because they made an effort to actually try new things and push the series forward with new features and an attempt at an actual story.
>BW2 comes and improves everything
>acts as a direct sequel instead of a third version of the same game
>Memory Link makes it feel like your playthrough of BW1 mattered
>largest regional dex
>lots of new areas and secrets
>added tons of post game features
>lets you fight all gym leaders from all games up to that point
>all ignored by genwunners whining about ice cream
>now we have Lets Go!, which has LESS features than FRLG.
BUT I'VE LOVED THE WAY HOW BLACK AND WHITE HANDLED IT'S POKEMON DISTRIBUTION FUCK GENWUNNERS I FUCKING HATE THEM SO MUCH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>Don't be afraid to balance old Pokemon, nerf Landorus
>Retire old legendaries, only way to obtain them is by transferring in from older games or from events
Why bother nerfing him if you can't even use him. Having a gimmick where you can go catch current gen versions of every legendary is fine. It's a fun part of the post-game. Besides, the first game of a gen you usually can't catch any of the old legendaries, and tournaments are restricted to the current gen pokedex so it's like they don't exist.
you have to take risks if you are going to make something with lasting value
>gen 5 was met with opposition during its initial release for trying new things but is now widely regarded by fans to be the peak of the franchise
>gen 6 was met well during its early days by casual audiences for gen 1 pandering but now is universally considered the worst games in the series by hardcore fans
Ultra Moon is really fucking boring, does it ever stop being really fucking boring?
>with busy looking tech patterns and parts.
I don't think you know what busy means when it comes to design especially when pokemon designs from then to now aren't particularly complex.
Groudon is no more busy than a pokemon like Sandshrew for instance.
>Combee but no Vespiquen
>No Drapion
I'm a boomer who played B/W for the first time a few years ago and the soft reboot approach it took with the Pokemon distribution was incredibly refreshing.
The rest of the game was still mediocre though.
>and deviated from the original Pokemon aesthetic
The original aesthetic of rocks with arms, living Pokeballs, floating magnets, piles of purple semen, and balls of gas mixed in with literally my mom's bird, rat, cat, horse, and turnip?
At least it used to be its own thing
Aww but he is cute
>They do by virtue of being "rule of cool" arbitrary designs in the vein of Digimon,
What is this even supposed to mean?
A design in and of itself can't be arbitrary.
>a few extra lines
>busy looking tech patterns
Your concept of busy starts with very little. In your defense, a lot of people call them digimon like because they started to go a litte bit more complex from gen 3 and onwards due to not being limited to the original gameboy graphics, but that doesn't make the comparison any less stupid.
good team except the waifu
And it's not anymore because you don't like something? Pocket MONSTERS can be whatever the devs want them to be.
By following normal rpg designs and tropes.
Currently doing a mono psychic run of y with
>Delphox
>Solrock
>Medicham
>Gardevior
>Slowpoke
Don't know who to pick for a final member, but I'm leaning towards either Jynx or Reuniclus.
don't talk shit about Crobat-chan she's fast and strong
So all the shitmon from Gens 1 and 2 are fine, but all but 80 of the 500+ Pokemon from afterward should be thrown away.
Reuniclus is based pick him
Why did they think making seasons tied to real life months was a good idea? Most people will start in autumn and never leave.
Metagross
I don't understand why genwunners still give a shit about pokemon if they only acknowledge gen 1 and parts of 2. I mean if they think the design philosophy changed with gen 3 that's pretty much saying that 1 and 2 are barely pokemon games given there's 5 other gens after that.
I replayed LeafGreen for the first time in a while.
It's the "Old good new bad" mentality and rose-colored nostalgia goggles.
>can't evolve the regional bug to it's last stage till late in the game
>43 speed
Why did they do Vikavolt dirty like this?
I'm playing OG gen 1 on Gameboy and I can't trade. I have six badges but the trading woman just gives the explaination of the link counter and that's it. What am I missing?
just remade the Dex, put everything in order an associate the region the pokemon were introduced.
Name the National Dex just Kanto Dex an order them in a "World Dex" or something like that.
It triggers me that Chansey is like 130, Blissey 242 and Happiny like 450.
I may say that 10 is way too much legendaries
Just keep it like 5 Max (3 from a Trio and 2 from the cover art), 6 is Way too much but you can add a Mythical.
>tfw playing platinum again
>genuinely like all the pokemon in the sinnoh dex
>remember you have the burdens of HM's and finite TM's
HM slaves are the worst thing ever desu.
I like to imagine that Vikavolt was intended to be a second non-dragon pseudo and that literally taking one all the way to the end of the game to evolve it was supposed to be an alternative take on just leveling it to 50 or something
But then they remembered it could just be traded and evolved by someone else and scrapped that idea
I thought it was a retarded ditto when I first looked at it. Turns out it was just red confetti
>playing on real hardware
download BGB and this, Grandpa
github.com
I was a bit disappointed by the low speed until I realized it's basically a slightly worse version of Mega Ampharos. I'm more annoyed that it can't be evolved at the power plant like every other pokemon that would have normally evolved there like in the previous games
It was a retarded Ditto. Its only purpose was to try and cheese Lance's Dragonite after it gets confused from outrage. It didn't work.
We're going to talk about speed, most of the Alola Pokemon suffer from being slower than dead snails. At least most of the ones that are fast are useful and fun like Ribombee, Salazzle, and Midday Lycanroc.
friends.
The zoomers who grew up with BW as their first games are now the nostalgiafags, the older fans who disliked them have since moved on from pokemon/gaming in general and no longer have a legitimate voice in the fanbase.
just like in Toy Story anything with eyes can be considered a toy now.
Is convenience to the plot in both cases
seriously that shit made me not want the newer pokemon. why are they so fucking slow?
autistic screeching in post form
no u
I have a second Gameboy and a second copy with a link cable in.
Probably an attempt to mitigate speed creep, except they forgot to make them bulky or strong enough to compensate
It's still my least favorite gen, Pokemon hasn't been good since gold and silver btw
>BW is the worst Pokemon game ever! I want to use my bros!
I'm glad I wasn't like this. BW were the last games were I felt like I was always finding new things. Even if Sword and Shield gave us a completely fresh regional dex, you can bet they'd still spoil everything first.
If it's used by a child as a source of fun, it's a toy, yes.
Those aren't the same people you dipshit. Old fans left because modern pokemon is dogshit. All the underage toddlers whose first game was gen 5 are posting here now and since they're subhuman zoomers they love eating shit.
Normally you have to wait until someone is in their 60s to start hearing this kind of thing from them.
Asking again. No meme answers this time.
>10 years later
>8 years old whose first pokemon game was BW are now Yea Forums age
>suprised 10 year old game gets fellated
Now FPS games remember Halo with nostalgia and most Johto fellation comes from HGSS.
lillies cum dumpster
People who play games have to go do grownup stuff and don't have time for games let alone game discussion anymore. There are tons of vidya subcultures that were played by the youths of 90s and 00s that vanished overnight, Pokemon is one of them.
either one or both of your gameboys or your cable is damaged because they're 20 fucking years old
I have two Gameboy Colors, a Gameboy Pocket and an SP. With Red, Blue, Green and Yellow versions. I tried all kinds of combos and some of the games let me trade and some don't, regardless of which Gameboy they're in.
I loved that shit when it came out and I was surprised that people hated it.
Made the games feel real fresh and exciting.
God I miss seasons.
well because B/W were a completely new game, and had some good benefits as a result. I adored the fact of how much easier it is to keep TM's because you can just teach everyone a good move instead of worrying about it being finite
I don't mind running into old Pokemon as long as there's a decent variety. The best thing that XY did was give you an absolutely massive Regional Dex so that just about every route was filled with Pokemon you couldn't find anywhere else. It was actually exciting to just poke around outside of town to see what I could find. Combine that with the Dex Nav from ORAS and I wouldn't even mind a return to random battles.
Reminder that if you don't use a bee barrel as an HM Slave, you are doing it wrong.
>809 pokemons
>Still only able to roll with 6 pokemons
Really now.
Yeah, I'll always remember Black and White being ugly as shit since I only saw it in Autumn and Winter. I played White 2 a little while after release and coincidentally ended up with the same problem.
Is it possible to simulate a trade on an emulator? My Graveller ain't gonna evolve itself
Maybe when trainers besides the rival and the literal final boss rush have more than 3 pokemon at maximum.
Doing that would make battles lengthy and tiresome though just because of how fucking slow pokemon is. Gamefreak would have to learn to be less trashy programmers since they already struggle to keep a stable framerate with hardly more than 2 models onscreen.
Shit, even monster hunter stories had a more consistent fps with more models onscreen, with 2x and 3x battle speed options on top of that.
More like
>809 Pokemon
>only a fraction are available and the same few families are present on every route
Yeah, but it's tedious.
Open pkhex and edit it into a golem.
>Play BW for first time in January
>Winter
>That stupid twist mountain can pretty much be skipped in its entirety
Eat shit, you stupid maze.
>The games should be the exact same and not try to be unique in any way.
>Why yes I am on the spectrum, how could you tell?
When BW first was shown I thought I was going to hate it because of they dynamic camera. I'm glad younger me was wrong.
>At launch
>BW is the worst Pokemon game ever!
Anyone who had good tastes knew B/W was the best pokemon game to grace us. From music to pokemon designs to gym leaders to E4 and champion. Story too. X/Y was a complete heel turn
E4 theme is the best of the series in B/W, but I liked gen 3's as well
I had that song on repeat for so long
>Gen 5
>Beat Pokemon League once
>All of the elite 4 now have their pogeymonz 25 levels higher and they use a full team of 6
Why the fuck did they keep doing this from that point onward
Post your favorite Pokemon that everyone else says is shit.
She's slow and has that crippling Rock weakness, but damn Vespiquen has a lot of good moves, nice defenses, and a useful Ability.
because it's more fun
>Old fans
You mean fad chasers.
Those people never got invested in the series beyond the anime.
Fuck Assault Vest Conkeldurr.
Flame Orb Conceldurr is still the way to go. Get a few Bulk Ups in when a fag tries to stall you and you've already won.
>tfw you just dropped a vespiqueen for a yanmega
should I feel bad for this?
no yanmega is actually good
Gen 3 = 4 > 5 > 2 > 7 > 6 = 1
Done
Butterfree is great for catching stuff though, and if you have a compound eyes one, you can give it thief to try to steal crap.
Excellent utility Pokemon, awful fighting Pokemon.
Sceptile gets fucking shafted for some reason
Get that guy in doubles and go fuck some shit up
That's Green you asshole, not Blue
kys unovabortion
it has Prankster so it's automatically not shit
>Whimsicott bad
What did he mean by this?
Was Ice sandshrew any good? He's my favorite.
Based
Gen 1-3 are the only good gens
>inb4 GENWUN NOSTALGIA
gen one is the gen that made Pokemon the worldwide sensation it is
>Another Slow Defensive Ice-Type
No, being 4x weak to Fire AND Ground while also being slow pretty much sealed its fate.
Okay, thanks user.
you can meme it with ice ninetales but it's only an average gimmick at best
Ice isn't weak to Ground. Think you meant Fighting.
You're right, my bad.
I think I like all pokemon games it's they aren't engaging enough to keep my attention anymore not even as time wasters. Like I liked the idea of Sun and Moon but it took like like 8 hours to get to the first trial
because SM is riddled with cutscenes and forced detours and handholding, especially at the beginning
that thing is amazing though
They kinda fucked Ethan's shit up but I still really like Red's Gen 3 redesign.
I was on a downward slope with the last 3 games anyway in Y I got all badge and dropped it before the elite 4. Then in AS I got 5 before I stopped playing that one. In Moon I only did the first trial and I never even touch USUM. I'd be curious to see if Sword and Shield is at the very least mildly engaging.
I think he's cute.
It's good on hail teams, but hail isn't very good. That speed and 2 4x weaknesses hurt it most.
hail is such a shitty weather effect.
Ice is such a shitty type.
Nip name.
The rival we know as Blue is originally called Green in nipland and the girl was called Blue.
I like the name Green for the Rival and Blue for the girl better.
If you were 12-14 playing Gen 5, congrats, you fall into this category and it explains why threads like OP are happening.
@457834982
fuck off faggot I am not watching your shitty video
I recently looked into it myself, there is some "hacked" VBA version that lets you play up to 4 games at once.
Killed my good save file and I had to start new, now I wish I would've just cheated the pokemon in with a code. Doesn't feel as pleasant though.
I was playing gen 5 during my senior year of high school, and it's still one of my favorite gens.
This is the team I'm working towards in my new UM run, didn't realize how fucked my team in my first run was long term when I got to Guzma and realized half my party was weak to Bug.
>half my party was weak to Bug.
>a problem
>new pokemon game
>use exclusively the starter till the end of the game
Anyone else does this? Why do people talk about leveling and grinding in pokemon? As far as I know you only catch pokemon to collect them all and not to use them, why would you waste time leveling a pokemon if you can always beat with the starter and brute force?
We've come a long way since Gen 1, there's a lot of good Bugs and Bug moves now.
No one ever expects the Rock Polish Relicanth sweep. I always used weakness policy on it ever since it debuted in gen 6, it's surprisingly bulky too, it's just as bulky as Hippowdon which used to be one of the premier physical walls
>why would you use anything but the saw cleaver in bloodborne? You can beat the game with it.
It's called not being a dull person.
Unless this is bait
>BW is the worst Pokemon game ever! I want to use my bros!
Who the fuck said this? Retard genwunners?
The fact that we didn't do a good enough job telling these faggots to fuck right off is why the franchise went to shit. Don't try to spin it as all of us changing our minds.
my current team in emerald
I guess they should make the starters weaker then.
Speaking of weakness policy, I used to abuse weakness policy hitmontop all the time when I played the games casually and then just a few days ago I found out it was actually a viable pick in some extremely high level competitive doubles teams.
I did that back then, but now I think having a nice team is more neat.
And grinding levels is no problem on an emulator where you can speed everything up and even have cheats for fast levels.
I love Head Smash so much, especially when I can use it on a Pokemon that can also learn Hone Claws. +1 Attack, 100% accuracy, and nothing survives unless it's 4x resistant to Rock or is extremely physically bulky.
>tfw no headsmash brave birb aerodactyl.
too much powah
Are you like me, as in it bothers you if your team has two mons of the same color scheme? Even if they are different types, it kills me
That thing would be next to invincible if they did that, you'd need STAB Mach Punch/Bullet Punch bulky mons on every single team.
Every Gen has its positives and negatives, and every Pokémon game is worth at least one playthrough.
But fuck Gen 6 and fuck the tutorials in Gen 7
i like having type diversity in my teams. my platinum team so far is torterra, gliscor, yanmega, and gallade. im considering milotic and glaile next to wrap up my team
What was your first gen? You likely like it for the story if anything.
>all of Gen 1 and Gen 2
Fuck off nostalgiafag
The original two games had a ton of poor designs, it makes no sense whatsoever to treat them any differently
Gen 1 has ten million Water types for instance, at the very least cut some of those out
The choices you made for who gets to stay from later gens don't even make a lick of sense. Why Burmy and Wormadam of all Pokemon to choose from Gen 4, when they're some of the most forgettable Pokemon in the entire dex? Why the ugly, boring Unfezant line there at all, and where is the middle stage? Why is Sewaddle by itself? It doesn't make any sense as a standalone. Same question with Trapinch, Cacnea, and Corphish, Salandit, Bounsweet, Combee, etc - the more I look the more I find. Why leave in obviously unevolved designs as single-stage mons?
My first games were gen 2, but I was first introduced to the series with the TCG in first grade. I like gen 5 for both the story and the monsters.
BW2 was a well designed game. BW was a bit meh. Gen 5 still has the worst pokemon designs.
Says you, I fucking loved that Black and White was doing away with the first 4 gens, mostly because I hated Sinnoh's PokeDex that much. I like NEW Pokémon in a NEW region only for them to have low encounter rates while shit from 20 years ago are seen most of the game.
no, but it is your fault that game freak got even lazier and turned their games into guided tours of KANTOOOOOO nostalgia instead of coming up with original ideas.
I'm currently playing Nova Sun hack, my first play through Gen VII and gotta say it's an amazing hack so far. very fun. Currently level 31 my lowest and 34 my highest and just got into the ranch section on the second island.
A good thing about this hack is that new wild Pokemon you meet are all around the same level as your party is so if you see someone new you want switching out party members isn't a big problem.
Fucking Magnemite, though, his steel type and is a very hard carry on this hack and I can't imagine how broken it is for the early game of the normal game considering how easy everything is.
>Why Burmy and Wormadam of all Pokemon to choose from Gen 4, when they're some of the most forgettable Pokemon in the entire dex?
Plant diversity quota, there's a plant-based Pokemon shortage and anything is better than nothing
Because the not included stages look like shit.
>you now remember the incommensurable and annoying shilling that N had during Gen 5
BW were a fever dream
there's a difference between liking gen 1 and hating everything that isn't gen 1. game freak changed their game design philosophy for the worse in a half-assed attempt to appease the latter group of people.
or maybe that hack sugimori just finally decided to get his own style instead of ripping off toriyama's.
>useless shitmons exist and comprise 80% of the roster
This is the bigger issue. There should be more mechanics that allow old Pokemon to become relevant again. Maybe like passive stat bonuses extra weak Pokemon get by being the last Pokemon on their team. Some kind of "super underdog" perk to encourage the use of weak little baby mons.
If that's too much, maybe more stat reversing mechanics like trick room or heart swap would do the trick.
I'm similar and I don't really care about any story in the series, it's the same "8 badges, big bad, box legendary, elite four" every time with different flavors.
The region is good, plenty diverse areas with interesting stuff in them, imo the apex of the traditional region before you have to radically change it like S/M. There's a whole 150 new mons to get and way more of them are interesting and actually usable compared to gens before or since, similar enough to the arhcetypes of past gens but still unique in their own ways. It was the last gen before they started adding huge gimmicks like megas and z moves that take up all of the game's focus.
well he's got a long way to go then because from X/Y onward instead of "toriyama ripoff" we have horribly generic animeblobs.
They should just do what they’ve been doing and give stat boosts, and not pathetic shit like 10 hp to magcargo or whatever the fuck it was, I want masquerain levels of buffs. Especially for really shitty Pokémon like delcatty.
which gens had the collection of the best girls
5>7>3>2>4>1>6
Create a hold item, call it "stat reverser" it's effect is that the stats of the two Pokemon on the field are now traded. I.e. Magikarp vs. Arceus, now Magikarp gets Arceus stats and vice versa.
If that's too broken, a hold item called the "equalizer" that averages both Pokemon's stats so that they're both brought to the same averaged values.
There, now Farfetch'd is useable.
You've nailed it, finally a ranking that's 100% correct.
[spoilers]>bothering with anything past gen 1[/spoilers]
>genwunners can't even spoiler
Not only that, he tried to greentext inside the spoiler! How very embarrassing!
Damn Genwunners can't even post without things glitching out.
I've argued with so many friends on this change and how it was ghe best shit ever. Needless to say, they're all retards who are now seeing how much better it is being locked into new pokes only pre E4
Top is my Moon team, bottom is Ultra Moon.
Is this autism? Buying a 10h game and not finishing it?
5>7>6>3>4>1>2 for me
Honestly, 5 and 7's girls are pretty close but 5 just has so many more standouts i like a lot: Bianca, Rosa, Hilda, Elesa, Skyla, Iris, etc. even the moms and the two professors are pretty good
>caterpie and it's evolution are great utility
spoken like a true autist
Skyla is for hypnosis
I remember everyone (and myself) cumming themselves over Fennel but she really has no attention in the games or other media, it's a shame
Just started Ultra Sun, what am in for?
>STILL no game with all Pokemon and all regions
an ok story hobbled by intrusive cutscenes out the ass and gamefreak's obsession with wormholes and parallel universes that has basically destroyed continuity
the exact same game as sun and moon until the final 10% and postgame
Balancing that would be a shitshow.
What was wrong with Gen 6?
absolutely plump
>Suddenly everyone hates Black and White
what happened?
>James
>not Jim
>not Jimmy
>James
is this the gen 5 appreciation thread?
youtube.com
No one here hates Black and White
Actually according to Yea Forums and /vp/, every gen is irredeemably bad
5 and 7 have all the best girls.
>Bianca
>Skyla
>Juniper
>Wicke
>Olivia
>Lana
It's just bugle bitches bitching
except Gen 1, being the first and all
the only games I actively disliked were FR/LG and DPP but Platinum isn't as bad as I remembered and I now understand where the 200 hour save from a decade ago came from.
FR/LG is still dogshit though, even RBY and GSC Kanto are preferable to that ugly mess
>Fuck Caterpie.
No, fuck YOU.
I don't like nicknames, what's so weird about that?
Well, it's an Ultra Cashgrab, so no.
Your face looks like dogshit.
>everything is a cashgrab
I'm glad I haven't become as resentful of life as you have.
I never said that, I personally think it all went downhill after 5, they tried something new but now all they do is le genwun
if you aren't putting 7 at the bottom you're doing something wrong
>Keeping Jynx, Mr. Mime, Stantler, Qwilfish, Corsola, Dunsparce, all the Gen 2 babies, Murkrow but not Honchkrow, Swanna line, all these Pokémon without their evos (Cacnea, Corphish, Trapinch, fucking COMBEE, etc.)
Absolute fucking garbage tastes my man.
Explain why third versions aren't cashgrabs
emerald and platinum
>Black and White had the right idea
I've been saying this for a decade.
Fuck you, I don't want to see Geodude, Zubat and Tentacool every single game.
>Naming your team in anything but all-cap
I shiggydiggy.
I feel ya, gen 6 was such a let down, and I didn't even bother catching much in gen 7
I can normally give the 3rd versions a pass, but don't pretend USUM weren't stupid.
>make S/M completely obsolete just by existing because it has new pokemon and moves that you cannot get in those games.
>barely change any of the actual content, unlike previous 3rd versions that at least attempted to refine the flaws like emerald and plat did, just a slight change to the story here and there.
>Play Xenoblade 1 when I'm 14
>I like it, but it's not my favorite
>Play Xenoblade X when I'm 18
>It's my favorite RPG game of all time
I WANT TO FUCK SKYLA
Wish my file didn't get deleted, I remember having an unkillable wall shiny one years ago
>all caps in the game that removed the all caps for names shit
im triggered
>Not keeping old traditions alive
It's not a true Pokémon game if every NPC and the narrator isn't shouting your and all of your Pokémons' names at all times.
imagine
Explain why sequels aren't cashgrabs.
:mm:
Black and White or Black and White 2?
We have a lot of retards who seem to think that because people praise BW2 that means BW were as good, hell just look at the first posts.
If you mean just Black and White it was missing some of the shit that was in platinum.
>don't get the psuedo till Gym 8 at level 30 on its lowest evolution
>late game wild pokemon are just evolutions of wilder pokemon you faced 30 hours ago
>post game becomes rebattle people with a team they should have had in the story, catching 5 weak legendaries and waiting for the never to happen legendary event for the cool Pokemon that is distributed a generation too late
I literally can't
>using pokemon not from the region of the game you're playing in your team
>don't get the psuedo till Gym 8 at level 30 on its lowest evolution
Why do they keep doing this bullshit? IIRC the only one where you can actually level the psuedo with you is gen 4 with gible. Bonus points to Johto with Larvitar, only obtainable at Mt. Silver after you get all 16 gym badges.
I like to use previous gen pokemon I never used if they show up early.
Regional birds and shitmons can fuck right off though.
sorry but XY tried really hard to make sure you only use kanto pokemon, and it looks like S/M is doing the same but I haven't gotten far enough yet
S/M was actually really good about that though.
Hey, in Alola you get it late, true, but you get it less than four levels away from its final evolution.
US/UM actually has a good distribution of mons and no Kanto gift pokemon like X/Y.
I know right?
Hell you are actually gimping yourself by having a pseudo on the team early game.
They level and evolve late as shit, like by the time your bagon evolves into shellgon most of your other mons will already be fully evolved or almost be fully evolved
dratini isn't too bad if you get it at the game corner, sure it's like level 5-10 but it's not too hard of an investment by that point
You can catch a Bagon and even a Salamence on the first island is SM.
>once on a run of black I gave myself a deino egg because I wanted one for my playthrough.
>had to baby that fucker for 49 straight levels.
Never again.
>doesn't evolve untill lvl 50 and isn't fully evolved untill 64.
Deino is an extreme example of that.
I had a similiar experience with larvesta.
Larvesta is at least worth it because volcarona is an absolute beast. Give that bug buzz, flamethrower and whatever that dance was, and you have a special sweeper
Just reminding everybody of the BEST Pokemon design in the series.
sorry try again
fuck that's a good one too
Why is the best design for red in the shittiest game?
I have never played a single Pokemom-related thing ever altho I did spank my sausage to a lot of porn, but I bought a 2DS used and Pokemon Y.
How good of a choice was this?
decent choice. Get Black/white 2 and nuzlocke it next
yeah I agree OP
pic related is not ok. WHY does Zubat need to have the HIGHEST ENCOUNTER RATE and be an occupant of NEARLY EVERY SINGLE GOD DAMN CAVE ON THE ENTIRE POKEMON PLANET
Not awful, but it depends on how you play it. Veterans just fucking blazed through X and Y complaining it was too easy, so I recommend taking your time and trying a lot of different pokemon that you may like. There's over 400 of the fuckers in that game.
She was the guide to the Dream World and yet no one remembers her. More than a little bummed about that.
But that is the best version of Red user. Did you even play it? Sure it didn't have breeding or abilities but neither did the original.
>She was the guide to the Dream World
I think that's the problem. How many people actually used the dream world?
I don't know what nuzlocking is, but okay user, I'll check it out.
I'm definitely taking my time, I'm as green as they come. I also took Fennekin and I'm gonna build her up really high. I'm really early in the game, at the first town with the Pokemon Center.
>I don't know what nuzlocking is,
Nuzlocke is a format where you only catch 1 mon per route and you only are allowed to catch the first mon you encounter.
You kill it or run out of pokeballs you can't catch a man on that route anymore.
If you catch a mon you give it a name so you feel more emotionally connected to it.
When it gets defeated it "died" and you release/delet that mon ASAP.
I always follow that rule on my first playthrough of a game but subsequent playthroughs, i always try to play using pokemon i've never used in an ingame playthrough of any other game in the series to keep things fresh
Nuzlocke is for people who are looking for new ways to play pokemon, though, don't recommend it for user's first ever playthrough.
>telling whats essentially a first time player to do a nuzlocke
but why?
Despite being able to recognise the differences on sight, I'm having trouble describing why I tend to like the older pokemon designs more.
They're more animal, I guess? Their designs have noisier, rougher lines, and less random shapes and patterns slapped on, with better proportions. There's some great pokemon in later generations, but for the most part the older ones are better, IMO.
>it's another thread where retards debate over what amounts to different labels on the same fucking game
Imagine debating over baby's first RPG seriously.
shoo shoo
Nigga i've liked Gen 5 ever since it came out and I started on gen 1. Did you ever consider the people who said the games sucked back then aren't the same who say it's good now.
Now you didn't cause you're retarded
6 weaknesses
2 of them are quadruple effective
But Damn it I can't help but love this asshole
I JUST WISH IT COULD LEARN FUCKING POWER GEM WHAT THE FLYING FUCK GAMEFREAK, IT'S LITERALLY BUILT FOR IT
Sounds gay but also interesting. Might try it, 600 hours down the road.
klefki and the ice cream cone pokemon are the most retarded pokemon designs of all time
Hey, if they're going to give me Riolu before the first Gym you bet I'm gonna catch one then run in circles for an hour or so building its happiness before evolving it on the next level-up and have a bright shiny Lucario.
>the ds games are arguably the peak of the series but were the most skipped set of games because of normalfags who grew out of pokemon after gens 1-3 coming back on XY giving game freak an excuse to keep half assing their games and that people want zubat and magikarp for the 100th time
Seriously so many people I knew suddenly got back into pokemon for XY after skipping the last 4 or 5 games and it baffles me. I seriously think it was either the jump to 3d or the general timing of XY that made it sold so well
the 3ds sucked dick with 3d. seriously you couldnt move your head at all with that shit or it becomes blurry as hell
You're talking about the company who gave Alolan Marowak a signature move that it can only learn from the Move Relearner because it learns it 1 level as a Marowak before it evolves from a Cubone.
It was a new pokemon game on a new system. People often forget that when Gen 5 was announced as DS people were asshurt that it wasn't on the 3DS.
The problem with Klefki is the keys aren't part of the design, they're just keys it collected and the actual pokemon is everything but the keys.
I understand the theme gamefreak was going for with it about faries stealing keys but they really fucked up the design
Not even close. Lando-T and the Tapus would still destroy it.
yea the first games on new hardware usually sell super well.
You forgot the 6 or so ones you can't get in your version.
Being forced to find new favorites was one of the best things about BW. And there were so many good mons to choose from as well.
I might have never found this absolute sweeper if old early route pokemon took up encounter chances.
>same company that designed so many pokemon with typings that go against their stats so they have no good stabs until gen 4
>same company also thought Mega Rayquaza not needing a mega stone was a good idea
>same company thought making every non ultra beast or tapu in gen 7 slow as fuck
>same company that thought locking a bunch of gen 2 pokemon until kanto in gen 2
>same company that thought locking specific pokemon to specific tiles in areas instead of the entire grass/water on side area with no way of knowing that's the case
I don't even mind having old pokemon, just make them the rarer pokemon of the routes and give the new ones the spotlight and give more evolve forms to pokemon that need it
I feel like stuff like that is on purpose so you use the move relearner.
Having entirely new mons resparked my enthusiasm for the series. Ironic, because after gen 5 my enthusiasm was slowly squashed again.
>Pokemon Black has its base form as a modest nature in game trade
>Sweep with it
Last time I played N, I cucked N out of his epic Kaiju battle with that overleveled quiver dancing plant.
BW was the first time I ever benched my starter
Lilligant was just way too good and Serperior just...wasn't. I mean, it's not the worst 'mon ever but, god damn Gen V's starters ALL sucked.
Granted, if Snivy's got Contrary, things are different, but most of them just have Overgrow.
When you've eaten certain stuff for so long non-stop you eventually get so sick of it you won't wanna eat it again.
Same thing happens with nostalgia. Milk it too much and people will eventually start pucking it after seeing the same pa dered stuff for the 64th time in a row
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SHITMONS!?!?!?
IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS BY WHAT PELIPPER GOT, THEY COULD AT LEAST MAKE EVERY POKEMON VIABLE IF THEY WANTED TO BUT THEY CHOOSE NOT TO! WHY?!?!?!
that is not what I posted
some poor shmuck is now a dumb frogposter
>want to replay white 2
>have always traded my pokemon up from earlier games to the latest
>can't start black 2 again because nothing left to trade my decade+ old staraptor to
That's because Gen 4 faggots have to cope with the fact that the only reason people like their generation is HGSS and they seethe that their generation was followed by Based BW/B2W2
Johto were my first games btw
Literally every Pokemon needs to go.
>>At launch
>BW is the worst Pokemon game ever! I want to use my bros!
I don't know where you came from but this was not a common sentiment on Yea Forums. The worst I saw was people bitching about the garbage bag pokemon.
>Golduck
Easily one of the most forgettable 'mons of all time.
In my ideal pokemon game, you would only be abke to catch and use native mons only during the maingame.
The maingame becomes a tutorial of some sort where you can try out and experiment all the new mons to see what you like.
Then when you beat the game you unlock a new are ala KANTOOO, sevii islands and the battle zone where an expanded and improved battle frontiet is in.
Just like the places I just mentioned you are given pretty much free reign and there you can catch mons from older gens that you can use to tackle the postgame battle facilities.
Have a daycare there for breeding snd sprinkle the area with high level trainers you can rebattle daily so it's easier to grind up lower level mons you want to use and I would be golden.
Casuals can beat the game just fine and leave it that and the people who want more of a challenge can challenge the postgame facilities.
Like the battle pyramid endurance/scavenging dungeon runs is a real cool idea and hard as balls.
I would really like it if they improved on stuff like that.
I know casuals might get a breakdown when they don't get bombarded with Zubats abd geodudes whenever they enter a cave, but this is just how I would like gamefreak to make the game.
What do you guys think of it?
The most forgotten gen 1 line is either Krabby or Seel.
It's only there because psyduck is Masuda's favorite pokemon
>native mons only during the maingame
No, have half the regional pokedex be old mons but have them be odd ones people didn't generally use or see.
I used to co stantly forget tangela and lickitung.
The only reason I remember them now is, because of how unmemorable I thought they were ironically enough.
I could live with that compromise, but I would still prefer nativemons only.
They can't count because they got gen 4 evolutions even if everyone hates Lickilicky.
The issue with that is new dexs tend to only have like 100 pokemon which is way too small.
So you run into type spread issues and most people who play the game end up with identical teams.
Just make it so the oldmons are the rare spawn ones in each area.
Concept: Random Pokemon distribution based on type.
About to pick up Theta Emerald Renev. Should I go where I change my starter to Trapinch or go for a grass monotype?
Yeah I could also see it being a problem with trainers not having a decent selection and variety of mons against you.
But that is why I said Ideally.
GF would never do anything I just mentioned in my post.
In the end it's all just a pipedream.
>Can't capture Zubat or Wingull in Gen V
>Nostalgiafags go into meltdown
I'm surprised the little shits didn't get a regional variant/Mega
I skipped Sun/Moon, do they still have the same problem XY had where trainers almost always had 1-3 Pokemon?
Yes
Yes.
>New is good because it's new
For appealing to this kind of faggots pokemon went to shit.
>For appealing to this kind of faggots pokemon went to shit.
It's literally the opposite though
Well that sucks.
I just looked up some areas in Gen 5 and they seem to do it the same, but at least in BW2 they seemed to be more competent with what Pokemon they brought.
I would really like fewer trainer battles but with more Pokemon per trainer.
Trainers after the 5th or 6th gym should not have a single Pokemon unless its something really strong (at least 520BST strong).
A hard mode like BW2's would really help Pokemon as a whole to prevent the games from getting boring.
Sun and Moon not only have all the problems of X/Y, but they're exacerbated by constant unskippable cutscenes
is this the most fun having user in this thread?
Also I love scizor but that's usually something I get after endgame.
That's the right idea, new mons at the start of a new generation
Genwunners are a meme.
I always use Emboar in Gen V, even if he is the third Fire/Fighting in a row. Good Types, excellent offenses, great bulk, and a lot of good moves. Plus he was the first and so far only one of two Fire-type Pokemon that can use a Water-type move, that being Scald, a very nice treat for getting rid of Rock, Ground, and other Fire-types.
Do you think Gen 8 will introduce a new Eeveelution or two? They seem to come every even-numbered Gen.
its even worse in sun/moon, 95% of the random generic trainers will have a single pokemon, the other 5 percent have 2 pokemon, that trend continues all the way up into postgame. i dont remember normal sun/moon but i can't see why the trainers would be significantly different compared to ultra sun/moon. i wanted to use echoed voice shenanigans in my playthough of usum since you find the tme for it early on but the lack of pokemon per trainer made that gimmick not viable
Trapinch starter sounds dope if this game has the phys/sp split, otherwise go for monograss.
Fucking B/W. Every route/area you'd see the stupid monkey trio.
Gens 6 and 7 had far less than 100. Hell, there were only two new Ground types in gen 6 can you name them both off the top of your head?
Bunebly and Diggersby?
that never happened. i'm more nostalgic for sinnoh than kanto, and my first game was yellow right as it came out.
The bunnaby and no game.
Isn’t the first stage pure normal? There’s zygarde too
Dragon of no game and Diggersby.
KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Correct
Close tho.
Now, can you name the single Gen 7 Ice type (not counting Alola forms)?
Crabominable
Crabrawler.
Did I only get a close because I didn't remember the bunny's name correctly?
Silvally-Ice
Correct.
The fact that an entire generation can only add ONE Pokemon of a type is a problem, especially when it ends up being shit or worse, forgettable. The addage "Quality over quantity" doesn't work when the quality is too low. There are around if not more good 'mons in Gen 5 than Gens 6 and 7 combined.
I only remembered it because it completely fucked over a really cool Pokemon. I wish Crabrawler was a non-evolver and had higher stats because he's awesome.
For me gen 6 was the weakest selection by far.
The only guys I really liked were the memefrog, hawlucha, pangoro, tyrantrum and Zygarde, because of the no game memes.
Crabominable.
Same, along with Avalugg, Aegislash, Clawitzer, and Noivern.
For me its Gen 6 > Gen 7.
>the Aegislash-line
>Narutoad's whole line (the best starter overall since gen 3)
>Tyrantrum (my favorite Gen 6 mon) and Tyrunt
>Hawlucha
>Goomy and Sligoo (Goodra was shit)
>Pangoro
>Clawitzer
>Pumpkaboo and Phatump were great "cutemons"
>Noivern (should've been the pseudo legendary)
>3 solid legendaries, Zygarde was especially pretty cool.
>I also unironically love Klefki
The only Gen 7 'mons I liked were Buzzwole, Charjabug, Mimikyu, Crabrawler, Golisopod/Wimpod and Incineroar (just because he's fun in Smash).
Gen 7 had way too many legendary Pokemon and fillermons like that Koala and the football monkey.
>yet faggots bitched and moaned and now we have XY/SM.
We have X/Y and S/M precisely because you faggots thought gen 5 was good. Game Freak doubled down on everything wrong with gen 5 in B2/W2 and because of you faggots Game Freak continues to think Pokemon should be about telling a story and moving through a shit region that railroads you hard.
Prior to gen 5 Pokemon was about YOU and YOU going on an adventure to catch Pokemon and become Pokemon champion.
I liked Scrafty, Aegislash, Scolipede, and Pangoro.
What a fucking barren gen that was.
Nah, USUM are passable, XY are still absolute shit, and ORAS are the worst remakes
Scrafty and Scolipede were Gen 5.
Gen 5 is super underrated, once you get past "muh ice cream, "muh trash" and "muh genies" its actually a really good gen design wise, better than 4, 6 and 7 in my opinion.
>B2W2 are to blame
>despite having hard mode
>Medal achievements
>Significant post game material
>Lots of secret areas
Blame Gamefreak for taking the wrong aspects of the games, not the games themselves
I wouldn't blame RBY if Gamefreak was still making greyscale videogames
>the older fans who disliked them have since moved on from pokemon/gaming in general and no longer have a legitimate voice in the fanbase
I'll take Things that are absolutely not true for 500, Jim.
>>despite having hard mode
>>Medal achievements
>>Significant post game material
>>Lots of secret areas
None of that makes up for Unova being a fucking garbage region that locks half of it off until the post game, the shit starters and Pokemon designs, the embarrassing sprite animations in battle, and the increased focus on story bullshit to the exclusion of what Pokemon should be about.
>mitigate speed creep
>make UBs, Tapus and Ash-Ninja fast af anyway
>Buzzwole, Charjabug, Mimikyu, Crabrawler, Golisopod/Wimpod and Incineroar
I actually liked those as well, but I also liked base Necrozma(not a big fune of thr dusk mane/wing and ultra form), Kommo-o, alolan exeggcutor(only alolan form I liked) xurkitree, stakataka, vikavolt, bewear and I just love the idea and concept of silvally.
I feel that Silvally would actually be pretty good if the item it held worked like an Arceus Plate.
in BW they offered you to encounter the new pokemon only and yet people complained because they wanted the genwunners back
They should have stuck with what they did in Gen 5
>bunch of new pokemon
>only those new pokemon are found in that region until post-game
Black/White were the only games that actually felt fresh.
That said, Gen 3 will always be king.
It needs a stat and ability buff, buff the BST to match Mew and make the disc drives one key item that don't take up a slot.
i forgot this one exist
Oh yeah Volcarona us by far my favorite bug type.
Tons of solid mons like Krookodile, excadrill, eelektross, scolipede, freedom birb, haxorus, galvantula, golurk, chandelure, reunicles, accelgor, escavelier, hydreigon and archeops.
I liked samurott as well, but it should have been water/fighting and should have leaned more on the samurai aspect of it.
i miss BW UI, it was so fast and comfy to use
Why is chandelure so based?
I loved the idea of a mon that was made to counter threats from another dimension, so humans played god and made a violent chimera that replicated their creator god's power as told by ancient sinnoh scriptures.
But sadly enough instead of being good at everything like Arceus,n it's just mediocre at everything.
Good stats with a design that is both cute and cool.
>whereas almost every legendary in gen 3 has retarded tech-like lines/patterns on it and looks like a robot
wait, what?
I forget what the weather trio was based off of exactly, but it sure as fuck wasn't robots & tech, and one of the gen 3 legends is a literal shooting star
And they were right, B2/W2 did it and improve a fuckton among other things like adressing B/W's problems.
>Offered
>Tfw can no longer register menu and bag pages for quick use
Honestly his gimmick should have been that his type changes depending on what Z-crystal he is using.
But Arceus highjacked thatm
C gear can suck a dick though.
I think the 95s across the board are fine.
Making the disc drives a key item, freeing up its item slot would also be a huge help.
Sylvally being a "less good Arceus" is fine in my book. It makes it not overpowered, yet still very versatile and unique. Its problem is that it has to sacrifice its item slot to use its gimmick.
Gen5 has so many good mons, especially if you're a fan of bugs.
BW2's Pokemon distribution is probably the best in the series. The only issue I have with it is that you can get a ton of really strong Pokemon very early. I remember having both Lucario and Arcanine by the third gym and them carrying me through my first playthrough.
There's going to be a point where the stupid OP mons of today will be nigh unusable in the meta
Fear that day
>Gen 3 is king
My fucking man
there were some good pokes from that gen
I honestly think they should take every not OP mon from gens 1-5 and give them a meaningful stat buff and more strong moves. Like buffing the starters to all have 540 BST with the extra stats going to actually making the Pokemon better at something (like giving Venusaur more HP to be even thiccer, or giving Blastoise Origin Pulse to abuse when Mega'd)
My fellow fetus bro
Be nice to caterpie
>Sylvally being a "less good Arceus" is fine in my book. It makes it not overpowered, yet still very versatile and unique
I am fine with that as well, but I think a good way for it to differentiate itself from Arceus is if it changed type depending on which Z-crystal it had.
With that you can make him more useful while still having it's own identity.
It also fits in the lore since Z-moves are alola's bread and butter.
So it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that the aether foundation combined the ancient sinnoh scriptures with their native alolan cave drawings.
Normally I say give out buffs over nerfs, but in the case of Pokemon, I feel it's more reasonable to just hack off some speed or attack power from some certain OU fucks
Of course, buff the guys that REALLY need it, i.e everything in PU and NU
Ideally, the tiers should end at RU, the fact that we have two lower tiers just shows how fucking awful some guys are in the modern power creep meta
Rosa is so fucking cute
user, Arceus' changes type with Z-Crystal ow too.
It unironically has soul.
Now look into those cold, soulless eyes for comparison .
Arceus's type also changes when holding a Z Crystal.
I think letting Silvally also do it would help a ton, as would giving its disc the same damage boost as the Arceus plates or by freeing its item slot and making the discs key items.
The fact that Silvally has to use its item just to change its type and gets nothing else from it makes it bad.
I know, but I think it should have been Silvally's thing
>the shit starters and Pokemon designs
>the embarrassing sprite animations in battle
Well you just gave yourself away. No need to take anything you're saying seriously now.
Yep. My problem with Gen 5 is its one of the more boring playthroughs. You never do anything rad and the areas aren't inspired. Great quality of life updates though.
I feel a large swathe of buffs and a few small and select nerfs would do the series good. Small stat redestributions to Pokemon like Lando-T and Aegislash for instance.
Making Ice resist Ground would also help balance the game a lot more than you probably think.
>arceus, an unobtainium mon that wasn't revelant for three gens, can use both z-crystals and boosting plates
>sylvally, mon from the gen that introduced z-crystals and had both them and sylvally as plot points, can only use shitty "memories" that do nothing
Fucking hacks
>Unironically defending this shit
>every Pokemon would be good with stat changes
No brainlet there are some with inherent desig flaws like Golem, Vespiquen. Aurorous, Avalugg, Sudowodoo, etc.
Those Pokemon would entire stat overhauls to be good, possibly even type overhauls in Golem's and Vespiquen's case
Would it be too OP if you could change Silvally's type on the fly like the art here kinda implies
based bros
>Make sneaky pebbles do no more than 25% damage per switch, even on 4x weak mons
>12.5 for 2x
>6.25 for 1x and so on
This would also help immensely
You mean give it Protean? Maybe, it really depends on how overpowered you feel Greninja is. I think it would be OP as Sylvally could probably make more out of that ability than Greninja could.
I agree with this. I know I like Gen 3 more than 2 or 1 because I hit it at 10 or 11, but game design in general has stagnated for this franchise every single generation after 4. Sword and Shield will absolutely bore me and its because its gonna be lazily designed (like the last 3). We won't get Pokemon: Breath of the Wild until their first bomb some year in the future sadly.
Doesn't look bad, especially on system.
If you'd used a back sprite that would be a legitimate grievance though.
What seems to be the problem?
No I mean you can just go into your bag or whatever and change his type into whatever regardless of what moves he has.
I never said they'd all be good, I know Ledian is never going to take on Worlds
But you're wrong if you think some stat buffs wouldn't help AT ALL
>even when BW backpedaled from being complete it's own roster for the sequel, they made sure all the pokemon found early in the game were Pokemon not commonly found that early like Riolu, Mareep, and Growlithe
>Gen 6 and 7 said fuck it and had the same old shitmons from Gen 1 be all over the fucking place in the first route, to the point where they were often more common that the newcommers
I can't believe this shit
how many pokemon wull gen 8 offer this time? gen 7 had really few featured and the alola forms can hardly count
>not using protect, z-mirror move Murkrow with prankster and two STABs
It's a fun set. You get a plus two and a priority z move that uses the type of the last move the opponent used. It's nice to slap some faggot dragon that used outrage with a boosted devastating drake.
I feel a nerf to Covert Cobblestones would be good, lowering it from 12.5% to 10% would be good.
A better idea in my opinion would be to have more ways of removing hazards that more Pokemon would have access too. Moves like Bulldoze, Steamroller and Surf could be used to wipe away hazards, as could new moves like one where it would switch your side with your opponents, hazards/screens in all. Having Rock types remove Crafty Crystal on entry would also be huge. Another way of helping with the problem brought about Hidden Boulders would be to have different entry hazards similar to it but of different types and that only one would work.
That wouldn't be overpowered at all. The reason Silvally is bad is because it really can't hold an item, freeing up its item slot would help immensely.
>Give ice Surreptitious Icicles
Ice is now viable beyond Mamoswine, Weavile, and Kyu-B
Vespiqueen's biggest problem is that it is a sub-500 BST shitmon, you have to do some really insane shit to be even revelant with stats like that. Say, be Scizor. With more focused mid-500s stats she might be okay.
Nah, too much overlap with rocks. We need rocks of one of the "special" types like Psychic.
Greninja can hold items, hit faster and harder, and has a great movepool to begin with. Silvally would never match it.
Agreed, yet there'll always be unvaborions in disguise pulling the genwunner meme.
>Lucario
>Arcanine
My fav and one of my gen 1 favs was great for me. Never felt them powerful tho; Lucario felt nerfed.
I want to fuck Dawn so bad
I think giving Ice a Ground resist would be a huge help as it would help balance the type chart by also nerfing the best attacking type.
I do think an Ice, Fire or Grass would be the best picks for an SR clone.
If we're going special, I say a ghost type one, just avoid giving it to already great ones like Mega Gengar and Slashy boi
Maybe dark would be better though
Remember that Silvally is a flawed attempt to make a god Pokemon, of course it can't be as strong and versatile as the being whose image it mocks.
Do you want a Lucario that is proud of its power too?
Yeah, but it could at least not be shit
Based
Who doesn't?
Even if you fixed Silvally's ability wouldn't they still be fucked because of their balanced stats meme
Rosa!
Balanced stats aren't the worst thing to have. If you could free up its item then it would be a very unpredictable 'mon that could run a vast array of different stat, item, move and type combinations.
