>I support the free market
>as such I won't spend money on a business with practices I dislike
I guess that might be a bit too complex for games journalists to handle
Sebastian Ross
I've never heard any anti-Epic posters explicitly say "I support the free market."
Kayden Cox
I don’t support the so called free market, fuck corporations, and fuck rich people (especially Americans, Russians, Arabs, and Chinese)
Zachary Bailey
Consumers choosing not to buy something because they don't like the company is not a controlled market.
Matthew Collins
Anybody who understands how free markets function would not support exclusivity contracts
Dominic Morgan
>buying exclusives is competition
It fucking isn't, the only competition involved is in which company can vomit out more money.
Ryder Walker

Imagine being this stupid
Ethan Rogers

This is how Capitalism works
Hunter Brown

o im laffin, that's why games on steam are already cheaper than boxed copies right?
Blake Sullivan
I literally can't imagine being this trusting and naive.
Juan Gomez
>people said that DD will reduce pricing of games
>10 years later games still cost 60 to 70$
Yeah, I'm not stupid enough to fall in the trap twice
Easton Phillips
Ok commie
Kayden Perez
>You said you support the free market, THAT MEANS YOU HAVE TO STOP HAVING OPINIONS AND JUST BUY WHAT WE TELL YOU WITHOUT COMPLAINT
Always fun to watch a retard reveal that they have no idea how the free market works without even having to say "I'm a communist."
James Nguyen
>what is inflation.
They have become cheaper the numbers have just stayed the same.
Owen Cook
You can support capitalism without being a naive retard
Angel Robinson
>implying is the devs who's getting more money
It's the publishers who gets the money. They don't care if people plays the games or not, they're being paid in advance so there's no risk at all.
I would guess that a decent developer would like their games to be played by as much people as it could instead of your publisher recouping all the investment while your game goes unnoticed and forgotten within 6 months.
Jason Smith
Buying exclusivity is against the free market, thats buying out shit so only you can sell it, so consumers have no choice but to shop with you, thats definitely not a free market, that is known as cornering the market, it is not a voluntary process it is done soley by throwing money at things and has nothing to do with customer interest. How are people not getting this, the problem isnt that another store exists, its what its doing to try and get a leg over other stores, it is not making competitive prices or a better platform it is simply scooping up properties by throwing money at them so you have no choice but to use their store.
Gavin Phillips
>Yea Forums is now literally just a non-stop stream of people reposting things from reddit
Where did it all go so wrong?
Hunter Myers
/r/gamingcirclejerk mocks all of those opinions and the sentiment there is largely in favor of EGS or, at the very least, assumes that anyone who doesn't like it is just a lazy faggot who just doesn't want to install a new software

>retards still can't comprehend why epic is hated
they're buying exclusives and don't give a fuck about their service. it's more expensive in several countries and they're only able to keep games for a few months
they're just annoying, there's zero incentive for the consumer to support them
Adam Cruz
too bad 10 years ago generally I bought PC games physically at 50 euros full priced and now games cost 60 euros.
Inflation would work if I earns more now, saddly this is not the case
Jaxson Gutierrez
I think it's a great as it will create competition for steam and force them to better themselves. I just don't like using an extra launcher, and so I personally (probably) won't use it.

Josiah Bennett

Nathaniel Hernandez
Why would Epic force steam to improve? They're establishing their store entirely by slinging fat sacks of money around. Steam wouldn't need to improve their service to compete because epic isn't offering a better service and having a better service isn't going to stop them from buying more exclusivity.
Jaxson Turner
>i support the free market but i also support the communist chinese government
William Perez
Once one Publisher starts reducing the price on their games the other Publishers will have to follow suit.
It's simple capitalism and competition

They are in Australia at least, aside from a few specific companies that want to jew us as hard as possible.
Wyatt Watson
Not really because I earn much more than I earned 10 years ago so the 10 Euro increase is fucking nothing
Evan Rivera
they're just following the games journalism anti-consumer zeitgeist.
David Rogers
it's incorrect hyperbole
If devs really care about MUH STEAM MONOPOLY
they would release on all stores except of steam, but instead they releasing on EGS only
Joseph Watson
>Once one Publisher starts reducing the price on their games
For what reason, mr. mutt?
Eli Perry
Why not just releases games on both platforms? is it hard to do that? huh?
Luke Powell
>once they start reducing price of new game
Dont homs your breath user.
Zachary Sanders
It's not exactly an exhausting task to install that stuff on your PC so I don't think it's laziness.
Personally, I just don't like the epic store. It's an awful store client on par with EA Origin and uPlay and it lacks several features of steam (e.g. user reviews and the great return policy) that make me appreciate Valve's service beyond the fact that it's simply where the majority of the games I actively play are.
Hudson Mitchell
explain why it hasn't happened yet
>let's just start making less money to make the consumers happy
what fucking corporation thinks like this?
Hunter Taylor
This, they are probably getting some sort of kickback along with the bigger share, otherwise it would just be everywhere.
Jackson Taylor
Except their not making less money
On Epic store they're receiving the same amount of money but are able to sell their game at a lower price.
Are you retarded?
Nolan Green
During ps2 era games £40
ps3 era begining £40
ps3 era ending £45
ps4 era begining £45

>games also have increased in price as a buying a game doesnt get you the full game anymore and are expected to pay atleast another £20 if not more to get access to all the content that will be released later
game prices have increased in almost every country other than the usa
and then devs have the balls to say
>game prices havent increased
YES THEY FUCKING HAVE
Henry Ramirez
What?
Hudson Anderson
Haven't heard anyone say devs should go to jail for not releasing on steam either.
I think we're in the clear to call strawman in this matter.

David Brown
Counter point: Less wealthy companies manage to put on games that are of higher quality for less money without shitting all over the consumer are still viable, therefore making EAs just an option for the consumer.
The way they operate is to consume and destroy other studios and their continual existence is a threat to the free market, in particular how they dribble the entire legal systems to avoid paying taxes (while other video games companies must pay), in essence they threat everyone like shit for the sake of a profit while destroying his profiting making workers.
I am dead serious, if it wasn't for Apex in 2019 EA would be in dire straits precisely because they are bad at long term capitalism. They would still be ok due to the tax thing though.
David Moore
it would be cool if another company launched a store that gave at least 90% to content owners, had none of the nice features steam has or paid exclusive games like EGS, and required games to be at least slightly cheaper than on steam for anyone in the world at any given time. It would be a great alternative for those of us who don't care about any multiplayer features or reviews

Yes, the fact that EA just fired all of its marketers and all of their games are failing is in fact the free market working. Regardless I don't have to buy any of their games.

People complain about "globalists" but they fail to understand that the global economy is already here, and it's not leaving. Adrian Martinez
Obviously not like that, but the world of AAA publishing is small, and even if they're all trying to get ahead, nobody wants to win so badly that they'd shut down the competition. Agreeing on a fixed price point is the easiest way for everyone to make money with minimal risk. They'll compete over things like marketing, pace of development, that sort of thing, but it's in no one's best interest to rock the boat too much, so as long as everyone agrees to fuck over customers in roughly equal measure, the system will continue.
Especially now that microtransactions are weaseling into every nook and cranny, publishers don't even need to appeal to general audiences. As long as they're got a handful of whales spending thousands and thousands on microtransaction bullshit, they don't even need your money. They don't need to appeal to you, they don't need to market to you, they don't even need to make games that are fun or interesting to you.

Because democratically elected leaders look bad when they pick fights with equally powerful nations. China is doing it on purpose for the long run, since no country wants to have cheap labour factories forever and be stuck in development. China essentially wants to move up the development scale and produce high-quality machinery, computer chips, airplanes, cars, and the like. They want Africa to be to China what China was to the US.

Except it is because in order to maintain a global economy you need a system that is as open as possible, so people an capital can flow from one part of the world to another as quickly as possible. Political and economic issues in one country can have far-ranging consequences around the world, so world economic leaders are incentivized to keep tabs on each other and adopt consistent policies in order to keep trade moving as efficiently as possible. Trying to sequester yourself with closed borders and economic tariffs is like wrapping a tourniquet around yourself.

Because for decades Western countries opted to shower African countries with money in the form of charity aid, since no businessman or company was willing to invest in Africa with all its corruption and other issues. Steam is greedy. But why don't they just reduce that number? For the sake of being competitive and retaining their market share, why don't they just take 20 instead of 30 or something like that?
Epic games is proven to collect your steam data and send it, it's influenced by the chinese govn't despite them saying it's not, and it lacks almost all of the features steam has. It's quantifiably worse than steam in more than one way. I'd greatly prefer to use steam. So why does steam not just renegotiate the cut they take, and make epic games dissapear? Since the ONLY thing Epic games actually has over steam is that they're practically buying developers/publishers by giving them such good monetary deals?

People don't realize that epic's cut isn't out of trying to be fair to publishers but it's an unsustainable tactic to try to cut a market share from steam. Same as the bonus deals for exclusivity. Neither of these systems are going to stick around for the long term but Sweeney is hedging his fortnite dollars on being able to grow a big enough market share to make the epic store sustainable after fortnite loses popularity, which could happen any minute now.

Yours is the sheltered viewpoint. You see everything as "us versus them", as if any part of the universe gave a shit about your innane squabbles. On a tiny scale, people are different, but on any scale that matters, human beings are the same animals throughout time and history. It's really only our technology and access to technology that creates any sort of difference, and soon enough technology will be universal enough to erase ethnic and cultural divisions entirely.
Beliefs would pop up with different names, orders of events might shift around, nominal cultural shifts might even create the illusion of a different world, but human history is the history of technology, and there's really only one path forward in the long run. If we ever find intelligent alien life, no matter how different they may superficially appear, so long as their technological needs are comparable to ours, their societies will be comparable to ours. I am completely confident in this.

Swing and a miss. You fail to understand that globalism deals with centralizing power among a few individuals. Global markets have nothing to do with open/closed boarders.

>piracy isn't stealing
Then why is it still a federal offense in the United States?
You deserve to go to jail for piracy of any kind, full stop. There is no argument against this that doesn't involve full decriminalization of theft of property. You are stealing, and can be arrested and charged for stealing.

Then why is it the same thing as stealing in the eyes of God Emperor Trump's based always perfect USA law?

How the hell can you cut out a market share on PC? I can have GOG, Epic, Origin, and Steam on my computer at the same time and I'll buy games wherever they're cheaper. If the Epic Store is shit then people will stop using it and pirate the games.

I actually agree, which is why I think it's vitally important to construct AI as quickly as possible. Humanity is a sinking ship and organic life is a dead end. If humankind is going to leave any sort of lasting legacy, it will have to be in AI, which is why I want to dedicate my life to creating self-replicating AI as quickly as possible, and then killing all humans as quickly as possible. Create AI, kill all humans, enjoy future. That's the plan and the ideal.

Why the fuck are people shilling this piece of shit software by saying shit like "b-b-b-b Epic Chink Store takes a smaller cut than Steam!!!". Why in the literal fuck should this matter to the consumer? As a consumer, your first issue should be price, then features. Despite recent Steam sales being hot garbage, it's still overall much cheaper than the EGS. Comparing features, it's fucking laughable how bare bones EGS is to Steam. This doesn't even take into consideration the fact that every shitty dev is now making their own launcher so people now have 10 different ones already, or the fact that EGS is literal spyware run by Chink overlords.

Do people actually exist that would outright refuse to play a game they were highly anticipating because it's sold on a different website? The Epic better cut is such a bullshit excuse when people bring it up when talking why games are exclusive to Epic
First off, none of the exclusive Epic games are exclusive out of their own volition, they were all paid for Epic to be their, otherwise I doubt they're release their games only on Epic.
Second, the only people who will benefit from this are devs who self publish their games, otherwise publishers are the only ones touching that extra bit of revenue. And chances are they won't even use it to make bigger better games, but to expand their own publishing business, hire more emplyees, waste more money on marketing, or open a branch on the other side of the planet.

Epic-Tencent literally digging their own graves with every minute that passes is more entertaining than all of Epic "exclusives" will ever be.

I support the free market too which is why I think piracy should be completely legal and people should be able to profit from distributing IP they don't have the rights to. According to the free market, digital distribution should be worth $0 since it has 0 scarcity and infinite supply

If Satifactory was on Steam right now I would own it. It's not though, so I probably never will. Possibly the same with that Mars(?) roguelike(?) FPS thing game, one trailer looked kinda neat.

Jace Martinez
If any games are less than standard price, they're loss leading. Losing money on a product to get people into their store to buy other things. The purpose of the cut is to entice publishers with a larger piece of the pie so that game prices can stay the same and to court indie devs. When people approach them to find out more, they just offer them a lump sum to make sure they sign a contract. There is no way this is profitable, it's just intended to grow their library and audience.
They are spending money to secure a larger share of the market. It's a gambit built getting as many users as possible so that they purchase from Epic by default, even at the same price. It's oligarchic, not having anything in common with a free market. They are taking advantage of their huge amount of funding to buy up as much real estate and marketing as possible and suffocate their competition, since they have enough of a financial backing that they don't need to turn a profit for several years.
The offerings and features are objectively worse in every way. That's how capitalism works? Fuck off. The company mainly responsible isn't even part of the games market, it's a massive "corporation" on a different fucking continent which is low key a wing of the Chinese government. Them bribing every journalist in the West and buying the rights to the entire market is "free market competition?" Seriously, fuck off.

No, but I can imagine Chinese people will consider companies like Tencent and the people that supported them and helped them to oppress and exploit and steal from Chinese citizens, imprison 3 million innocent people in concentration camps, harvest ethnic and religious people's organs and pollute their kids' baby milk with dioxine as little more than collaborators. Looking forward to seeing Epic getting blacklisted in China one day.

Tell that to the owner of the site.

I live in Canada and Chinese people still get butthurt when you bash Mao Zedong or President Xi. Chinks are helpless. Chinks probably accept their corporate oligarchs like Ten Cent.
Cats rape lolis because lolis are smol and cute

That site more of a soapbox for the owner's garbage opinions than anything else, and him hiding behind "muh satire" is cowardly as fuck.

They changed some shit with their algorithm during the 2016 election that made posts show way more upboats than usual. Front page was 2-3k then after the update they went up to 15-20k. It's funny how one community made them change the site so much.
