Take the level design mentality of generations, keep the boost, get rid of classic sonic, and fucking cut it out with green hill or any rehashed level motif. Like Colours.

>Like Colours.

Attached: IMG_20190316_212240.jpg (749x868, 48K)

People have lost complete confidence in the modern sonic IP. You would have to do something fucking phenomenal to fix it.
So I say do something wild. Remake '06, but change the combat significantly. You can even go into Hack n' Slash territory, especially for Silver.
A show of force, if you will.

Needs more Green Hill.

Sonic Storybook was unironic sonikino
but the gameplay was definitely not sonicludo

did they really got the Zelda team for notes in Black Knight?

*Ahem* Hey Katanatards, I'm your worst nightmare. I've got a sword, My sword is *thisssss big* I guarantee you'll run away crying, kid. Go back to your anime, faggot

You can't. Sonic is fundamentally broken as a concept. It'll amount as nothing more than an on rails platformer that Sega can't deviate from

What concept?

Do you have brain damage?

>hating S&tBK

Not him, but the problem with Sonic is that it's designed to be beaten as quickly as possible. Taking it slow literally ruins the gameplay.
Which is a good argument for hack n slash segments. So that you can break up the speed segments without it ruining the gameplay.

Running as fast as Sonic can. Once you break that motion. the game becomes dull. So to remedy that developers introduce on rails running. but then that becomes boring after a while. It's like a neverending vicious cycle.

>Sonic the Fighters lower than Sonic drift 1 and 2, Shuffle and Forces in Unbiased

Attached: 1514689704543.jpg (537x527, 38K)

First things first, split 2D and 3D just like mario did.

2D should follow in the footsteps of mania, whether the graphics stay pure 2D or go to 2.5D.

3D should be designed to have mainly platforming focused areas connected by mainly speed sections. Think how mario galaxy has its planets connected by launch stars, but instead of planets sonic has a more standard 3D platforming area, and instead of launch stars it has a speed focused section. The platforming focused sections can be either linear or non-linear, whatever sega thinks is better

Seething moderntard

>Not him, but the problem with Sonic is that it's designed to be beaten as quickly as possible.
Then make Mission Mode from SA2 as a core mechanic. It's not really hard to design levels around doing an objective as fast as possible, just make them fun to play through and it should be fine.

>Taking it slow literally ruins the gameplay.
CD proves this wrong.

>Which is a good argument for hack n slash segments.
I guess if this would work for a 3D era Sonic, but at the same time, I really don't seen why combat is even a Sonic ideal outside of "other series did it" and "the archie comics exists"

>Running as fast as Sonic can. Once you break that motion. the game becomes dull.
Which games do this exactly? You're not support to be constantly going 1000s of mph, you are just suppose to have faster gameplay than the average platformer.

HIRE

>doesn't understand the meaning of the word "modern"
Sonic Mania was released in 2017 you fucking idiots.

Ehhh, Mania's good, fantastic even, but could Evening Star really make a good 3D Sonic game on their first try? Taxman, Stealth and PagodaWest weren't just random fans that Sega picked out of the blue, they were making 2D Sonic games for years before Mania started development, and 3D's a completely different beast.

Attached: complete_animation_4_big_by_doa687-dbqq7bq.gif (300x300, 625K)

Why did they cut this?

>, but could Evening Star really make a good 3D Sonic game on their first try?
Likely better than SA1, because without 20 year old limitations, you don't need script kiddie shit like automatic loops, dashpads or shitty outdated cameras that even A Hat in Time fixed. Also they have no need to add padding shit like fishing so by virtue of comparison, their first would have to be better than SA1 by default. It doesn't have t obe perfect to be good. No one from modern Sonic Team even touched anything pre Unleashed era, all but Iizuka is left at this point. There's nothing else you can do but hire talented people that have the soul of 90s Sonic still in them.

That is not from Mania, it's a fan made animation

>Colors
yeah no lmao

Adventure formula.
Sonic/Shadow stages
Rouge/Knuckles stages
Revamped Silver gameplay done right

>Rouge/Knuckles stages
Ya fucked up. Knuckles gameplay, with stages no bigger than Pumpkin Hill, emeralds with better ways to find them.

>Sonic the Fighters not in S-tier.

Attached: 1522159077316.png (402x357, 64K)

But can we agree that Sliver should still be able to stop bullets like Neo like he could in 06?

Am I the only one who hates how Wisps are cemented as a Modern Sonic mainstay now? Wisp abilities are awful gimmicks, even though abilities like drill look neat the first time as you're digging through the floor of a level, but Wisps don't look like they belong in Sonic at all.

Fire everyone
Rescue the Unleashed and Generations staff
Publicly admit Adventure was a mistake and is never coming back so Gamecube manchildren fuck off already
Hire Taxman, Stealth and other Retrofags as consultants
Release Unleashed 2 with spare shitty beat 'em up yearly rehash money, replace Werehog with Knuckles and give him a more platforming oriented playstyle with no fucking emeralds or just remove it entirely, rework the boost so it works more like the spindash, boost increases your speed gradually, reinforce inertia and momentum so you can't just boost at the last moment to save your hide, remove homing attack, remove ring trails, rework enemies entirely so they're larger and more intimidating in order for manual 3D gameplay to flow better and give a better sense of proportion with a talking hedgehog facing a mad scientist, reintroduce jumping manually at enemies with enough speed to skip portions of stages.

As long as he's as fast as Knuckles gameplay, I don't really care.

It is forced. The literal only reason they said with Sonic's world is because he saved them. Yet shit like Little Planet doesn't get this crap so why does Modern need Wisps for? They don't even work the same way each game like standard power ups usually do.

>basically fuck up your entire franchise!

What franchise? The few sad 30 something manchildren storyfags pretending to this day Forces isn't a terrible game?

>reintroduce jumping manually at enemies with enough speed to skip portions of stages.
Tell me how this can be programmable without say, making the hitbox bigger? Are we talking Sonic 06/Unleashed sized badniks?

Reupload: youtube.com/watch?v=WgPIR89oYdg

Much larger. The level design should assist these jumps, obviously, but not enough that it might as well be automated. Ideally the game should be about controlling your speed instead of reaching a cap, taking the car control ideas somewhere with a platforming heavy mindset. Speaking of which, the last 10 years of badniks are fucking lame.

give sonic to anyone else besides sonic team and sega.

>Publicly admit Adventure was a mistake
lmao adventure GC ports had the best sonic controls ever. The games itself were mediorce but sonic's physics and his speed stages were the best then.

Kill boostshit , revive Adventurekino, and have Evening Star do Classic games.
Its that simple.

Attached: 1546717766087.png (666x420, 208K)

Make good games on a consistent basis. There, done.

there's no fixing sonic. just cancel the franchise and free up sega to bring back some of the better series they've been neglecting.

Make Sonic Adventure 3 with the exact same movement mechanics of Adventure 2.

Same over the top style story too. The only major differences would be more content and better graphics/sound quality.

Stop rushing his games.

Literally no one fucking cared about Billy Hatcher, NiGHTS or Monkey Ball. What else could they bring back? Literally no zoomer today knows any 90s SEGA IP other than Sonic. They are all dead. SEGA would have to create a new one to replace Sonic with, or just stick to Yakusa

This

make levels slightly bigger
free control of sonic like in SA2
give SA2 homing attack
give Sonic spin dash abuse like in SA1
no 2D sections, keep boost sections to a minimum

>give Sonic spin dash abuse like in SA1
No. Please stop this shit. If you hate boostshit, you should hate this too. It should work like the classics, and just add the drop dash for casual spam garbage with at some some take away for abusing it.

Sonic dies. He fucking dies.

And then he comes back as a ghost and haunts Eggman.

So basically a remake of Haunting: Starring Polterguy... starring Sonic.

nobody cares about sonic either, other than when they're cringing at it. now that sega owns yakuza and persona, they don't need sonic shovelware anymore.
bringing back sakura wars is a good start, but crazy taxi and jet set radio need to make a comeback too.

As long as it's not more boostshit, I'm cool with anything
I'd even take Heroes 2 at this point

>nobody cares about sonic either
shit bait

>but crazy taxi and jet set radio need to make a comeback too.
Literally no one supported them twice when they tried to bring them back. Fuck off with this shit, no one likes SEGA at this point to bring any of these shitters back. At least Sonic has fans, while SEGA is just retarded and evil with him.

erase sonic completely

Make a game using something akin to the Sonic Infinity Engine, or make Shadow the Hedgehog 2

Attached: shotow.jpg (612x380, 89K)

Sonic Forces was the retarded sequel to Sonic Heroes

you don't have any control with boosting
spin dash abuse is different because of the level design of SA1 when compared to boosting in modern games like Generations
spin dash abuse enhances freedom for the player allowing them to make their own shortcuts and go places they want to go to, boosting in a straight line is stupid because there is no risk of failure and instant reward, at least spin dash abuse can act like a double edge sword if you don't know how to use it properly

They're only bad when they take away abilities Sonic and co. have naturally or when you're forced to use them to complete stages. If they don't do those things then I don't mind them.

>you don't have any control with boosting
You have far too much control with spamdashing. It was basically how to move at top speed with instant angler control, which easily broke Sonic's gameplay, which SA2 fixed.

>spin dash abuse is different because of the level design of SA1 when compared to boosting in modern games like Generations
There's no different gameplay wise. I can spamdash on speed highway with the same level design reused in Generations.

>spin dash abuse enhances freedom for the player allowing them to make their own shortcuts and go places they want to go to,
Or just have level design that add natural acceleration like the classics and advance games instead

>least spin dash abuse can act like a double edge sword if you don't know how to use it properly
Because it's inferior to the give and take classic design

Fuck insta speed fags, all of them.

Attached: 1544154954321.png (1000x1000, 216K)

>keep the boost
Boost is everything wrong with Sonic. Losing speed should come with consequences.

Not him but Colors probably has the least wrong with it of all the boost games. Its highs just aren't as high as Generations or Unleashed.

reminder that sonic teaming up with a cop and the movie will be good.

Attached: BDA8D168-79B0-4F8A-A1CE-FED9564A3FC5.jpg (768x1024, 119K)

SA1 gameplay with Sonic and Tails only. It can't be that hard to make an entire game like this.

It does. The challenge in the boost games is navigating the top path and using split second reactions to not hit things or fall into pits or whatever. They made it play somewhat more like a racing game.

Adventure or Advance?

Sonic Adventure 3
There, fixed.

Advance abbreviation is SAd1. He means Adventure 1

>somewhat more like a racing game
Funny, because momentum-based 2D Sonics are much closer to proper racing games than boostshit. 3D boost Sonic is baisically Temple Run.

It's called Sonic '06

youtube.com/watch?v=HxP0n7h_914
Is this song redeemable

So basically a finished 06 without the shit story is what I guess he wants.

Yes thank you.

Take Sonic Adventure and add open levels with score based objectives.

Problem solved.

youtu.be/1Tg4pf1lCnk
Fix'd

Sonic is one of the few franchise that would actually legitimately benefit from going open world, the problem is Sega will never ever in a million years devote the resources to making a good open world platformer.

Make Sonic gay.

Attached: 1554453547636.png (500x650, 201K)

It would still be mediocre at best. '06 is shit for more reasons than being an unplayable mess.

Between this, Utopia and Adventure Blast, it's sad that Sonic Team cannot just make a full game of consistent gameplay like these examples.

Sonic Advance 3 should at least be in B.

Isn't he already?

Explain. I'll give 06 credit for making the only 3D Sonic game with actual environments instead of tubes and pipes hovering over the void like SA1 to ShTH did. If you mean Shadow's shitty mech garbage, then I really don't see how a polished everything else wouldn't work, maybe a revamped Silver to make it not so underwhelming.

Anything involving the humans don't count, it was all padding not gameplay.

Most underrated Sonic title.Had this received a console port to the Saturn like many other Arcade games of its time did, with the usual snuff that these ports added, this would probably be considered a legitimately good game.

Attached: sonicthefighters.jpg (420x325, 50K)

Make it 2D. Sonic was never meant for 3D.

>In b4 adventure battle 2

There are far many worse 3d games than 2d ones.

Attached: 1433471302686.jpg (500x639, 46K)

>remove homing attack
The homing attack has entrenched itself for a reason, though. I'm not sure how the game would work without it unless enemies are all gigantic. I think a better solution would be for homing attacks to simply preserve and augment momentum instead of being oddly independent of it the way it's been up to now. Your suggestion might be better, though. I agree with everything else.

Make a string of consistently good games while refining the ideas that worked before so people can start taking your IP seriously again

Jeff Gertsmann plz

Takashi Iizuka is practically fired, and blacklisted from the headquarters, so to prevent any single chance of him to re-join.

Done. Now practically 70% or 80% of all the problems the franchise has been suffering since SA1 (or even before that) will definitely disappear. The other rest of the percent lies on Kishimura, Nakamura, Pontac and Graff.

inb4 but he highlighted Sonic Mania, blah blah blah, so we should somehow forgive many of Iizuka's questionable and incomprehensible decisions that has plagued the Sonic franchise in many forms.

No.

>boosting in a straight line is stupid because there is no risk of failure and instant reward, at least spin dash abuse can act like a double edge sword if you don't know how to use it properly
That's true for the boost too, though. Using boost without caution is a formula for rocketing off into death or at least a lower, slower path. I'm not really a fan of the boost or spin dash in Adventure, though.

Either keep the boost gameplay and give it level design akin to Generations, the peak of the gameplay style due to how the level design compliments the boost on top of having alternate routes, or just start over from scratch and try a more Adventure or even Lost World esque formula again, barring the run button of the latter.

I still prefer 2D, user...

>Takashi Iizuka is practically fired, and blacklisted from the headquarters, so to prevent any single chance of him to re-join.
This already happened years ago, he's currently in the US dealing with Sega of America licensing, ever since Boom was an embarrassment. This is how Mania happened, because Iizuka approved it. Forces was made with zero input from Iizuka, that was Nakamura with Kishimoto directing.

Attached: a8a.png (201x201, 24K)

this is pretty neat

Have SEGA produce the comics internally.

That's IDW Sonic.

That isn't produced internally.
The Forces prequel and SEGA Channel comics were much better.

Getting rid of the comics at this point would be a good thing.

This will never happen for multiple reasons, first of which being is it makes no sense financially for Sega to do so.

Why not give Sumo Digital an actually decent budget and let them make a 3D Sonic game?
And if that isn't something people can see working, why not have them collaborate with Sonic Team so it can have competent physics and work on the level design aspects or something?

Attached: Screenshot_20190319-192202_YouTube.jpg (1920x1080, 693K)

Why not allow any other team at SEGA make a mainline game?

I could see that happening but it's not as likely as I wish it was

>This already happened years ago, he's currently in the US dealing with Sega of America licensing, ever since Boom was an embarrassment.
I must admit, I have forgotten this detail ultimately, and that's good to hear. Apologizes, and thanks for the reminding.

Although, my point still stands. I want him to be fired and blacklisted by not just SoJ, but also SoA and any other SEGA branch that exist on this world. He must be fired completely. There was no reason to promote Iizuka, some newbie Mr. Nobody that only worked at level design for S3 and nothing else, to the leader role of Sonic Team, of all better working roles they could have picked, when Yuji has left the headquarters.

In my opinion, Hirokazu Yasuhara is definitely the perfect man to lead Sonic Team, and it's a big pity that he left alongside Yuji too.

>that was Nakamura with Kishimoto directing.
Yes, of course, and I'm aware. I have already pointed them out in my original post, plus Pontac and Graff.

Sonic Adventure 3, which is basically Sonic Adventure 1 without Big, bigger levels with more routes, and a faster Amy.

Will this people return? Will they hire someone better?

Attached: 4.jpg (1878x673, 281K)

He directed SA1-Shadow. He is the reason Sonic Adventure existed in the first place, no one else had plans for another Sonic game.

Start by getting rid of the current writers.

Honey in IDW when

>Hirokazu Yasuhara is definitely the perfect man to lead Sonic Team, and it's a big pity that he left alongside Yuji too.
He likely left after the disaster that was Sonic X-Treme, which funnily enough probably set the events in motion that eventually lead to Iizuka becoming the head of Sonic Team.

>Classic Characters ever appearing in IDW
She's dead, user, you have to let go.

>There was no reason to promote Iizuka, some newbie Mr. Nobody that only worked at level design for S3 and nothing else, to the leader role of Sonic Team
Okay first off, Iizuka was the main Sonic Team director from the original NiGHTS through the Adventure era up to Shadow, a roughly ten-year run. This was while Naka was still head so it would've been a decision Naka himself made. Second off Iizuka wasn't made head of Sonic Team right away after Naka left, after Shadow ended Iizuka still stayed in the US doing basically what he's doing right now, which included overseeing both Rivals games, before moving back to Japan for the NiGHTS sequel; he only went back to Sonic starting with Colors. Third, everyone worth a shit that was still with Sonic Team got assigned to the Olympics games. Iizuka pretty much was overseeing nothing more than the B-team working on the Wii/Wii U games, while the A-team that made Unleashed and later Generations was stuck with the Olympics games because, surprise surprise, Sega valued the Mario and Olympics licenses more than their own mascot.

I'm not necessarily even trying to defend Iizuka here, the problems with Sonic start above him on the totem pole and stem from Sega corporate, and more specifically what Sega thinks Sonic should be, which right now is just a kids cartoon mascot to sell merch and crossovers instead of being a serious game series. Reshuffling personnel will not change this mentality at all, and I suspect one of the major reasons why Iizuka is back in the US now is to try and do something with the franchise without having to deal with Sega of Japan executives nosing their way into everything, which is why Naka took the development teams into the US twice before with 2/3/K and later A2/Heroes/Shadow.

Granted, he's also responsible for a RPG focused Sonic experience instead of what the foundation of the classics established, so he's not some saint either. He's just a shit director, his main skill is specicle control in games, like he was handling in S3K.

Someone post the picture. You know the one.

I don't think they will, most of the people who worked on Unleashed/Generations are at Square Enix and Nintendo now

Stop making Sonic games. Start plugging Sonic in other games, instead. Sonic can be in Mario games, Zelda games, FPS, Soul Calibur...and so on.

Give the games good gameplay and level design. Leave the rest as it is.

Originally it was Akinori Nishiyama who replaced Naka likely due to his success with the DIMPS games, what did he do when he took over? Let DIMPS run the franchise until Unleashed and Sonic 4 showed that they were not perfect.

So literally every IP that isn't Mario or Smash is indie tier. Most games barely make 5 million anymore, people just don't play AAA games anymore.

He wasn't involved in that.

Isn't Kishimoto more to blame for the Storybook games? Or did Iizuka direct those? I only played both one time last year and don't plan to revisit them

>best new Sonic game according to fans is by a romhack dev
>3d games have the budget of indie games with less talent
Why not?

Kishimoto was more responsible for those

Everyone wants a different sonic game. As such, fixing modern sonic is impossible because the sonic fanbase is full of autistic fragmented fucks

Neither of them directed the Storybook games. But Kishimoto was in the exact same position as Iizuka was, first a level designer, appointed director in the next game after. I don't get how Japan business work, but they are massively retarded with them.

You guys are right, I should've checked. It was basically 06's replacement and Kishimoto and Ogawa were in charge.

Sonic needs to take itself seriously again. Pay attention to the characters, don't undercut the series by making dumb jokes. Jokes are fine, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the franchise.
Sonic needs to become serious. Since Colors they've done nothing but make fun of Sonic, the games are written by and for Sonic haters.

Also the gameplay needs fixing. Try slowing Sonic down and making the levels significantly smaller. And make a 3D collectathon.

Only correct post ITT. The only thing to do is just take the best received gameplay styles of Sonic and stick them them forever forward.

Ah, thanks for clearing it up

>rather than finish the game he had already started, Ogawa took half of 06's dev team and had them make Secret Rings with no effort made to replace the manpower for 06's development

Imo, yeah, espeically with the Boom TV Show. You can make a serious Sonic without making a hedgehog weild guns, fuck humans, or mixed with FF tier garbage. S3K/Mania-SA1 with a touch of Unleashed is the best Sonic direction.

>shitting on SA2
Yeah no.

It's not that fragmented. The majority of fans either want Genesis like gameplay (Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, CD, Mania, Advance series), Adventure like gameplay (Adventure 1, 2, and Heroes), or modern gameplay (Colors, Generations, Rush, Unleashed Daytime). Sure there are spinoff fans, but they usually fall into one of those 3 groups as well.

Just kill Sonic already.
It's not worth saving him anymore, let go of your childhood.

>Try slowing Sonic down and making the levels significantly smaller. And make a 3D collectathon.
This however is shit. Go play Mario insead. At best make collecting anything in Sonic purely for chao shit, and do the EXACT opposite of making levels smaller, the fuck? They were never big enough in the first place, Unleashed gameplay isn't big when going in a straight line takes 2 secs to get to the goal. Make actual environments. A Sonic world to live and run in, not video arcadey levels.

There is really only two.
Classic and Boost, I don't think anyone, even the devs, intended for Shadow and 06 to have broken physics.

*Unused poster for Black Knight

Attached: 1826279816178.png (1000x1500, 770K)

I didn't. I think SA2 is a tone just too high to make standard for Sonic, it's like the Majora's Mask of Sonic. Maybe a game like it once every 3 that's S3K/SA1 tier is ok, but not all the time.

The game doesn't prove anything because it still relies on Sonic Team for level design.

let it die, like we should have in the 90s. Fixed.

I meant... you know. I didn't mean get rid of them by that.

No Adventure fans are definitely their own thing. One important difference is that Adventure fans prefer to not have boost in their 3D games, unlike Modern fans.

Pinball momentum physics and level design in 3D w/ speed segments here and there.
S3&K/SA2 levels of soul, but subtract the cringe.
Give development to the characters beyond "being Sonic's cheerleader".
Boost is only a one-use hidden powerup; focus on older/varied powerups and stage abilities/obstacles.
Some of LW's parkour elements too (but nothing else from it).

>wanting an even safer and watered-down advertisement than IDW
If we're going off of wishful thinking, I'd just bring Reboot Archie back with Channel's staff helping and some fan requests like Shard and Tangle/Whisper.

Sonic Battle 2 IN 3D with expanded roster
Take Notes from SA1/2 but make use of modern hardware to expand on gameplay instead of graphics
Sonic doesn't really need weapons or huge gimmicks if you just let him do things besides boost and homing attack, Take notes from Battle, SA1/2 and Heroes
DON'T RUSH THE FUCKING GAMES
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A QA TEAM THAT DOES THEIR GODDAMN JOBS

Tails looks fun, Sonic does not. Those webms also do not work unless you want to go off the beaten path.

Why do people hate Sonic games with stories.

Can you not do the same thing with Sonic in those said environments? You can do the same in Adventure 1, that user's webm is basically just a polished SA1.

They are mass autism and Americans hate cartoons with real life dramas. Literally, think of one that American's think isn't cancer that isn't some "toons come from the toon dimension and it's seen as a joke like in Roger Rabbit".

Understandably because the stories went full-retard last generation, and the ones we have now are pretty aimless.

I think we can all agree that Sonic's biggest problem is the social media and the shitty memes.

while you're at it, etiher fire Aaron Webber, get rid of his social media role or just prohibit him from spewing meme shit. that guy is just making Sonic's name as a joke around the internet.

Stop watching hentai and look up a goddamn Disney, Pixar or even Dreamworks animation sometime.

Just add Chao gardens with online features.
Done.

Having recently played through about 2/3 of the game, I can immediately offer the following criticisms of Sonic '06 in terms of design:

1. Most of the platforming takes place over bottomless pits. While it should be fine to punish a player for screwing up a jump or slipping off a platform later in a given game, Sonic '06 does this extensively regardless of the intended difficulty of a given level.

2. Combat is executed horribly. New moves or controls would be necessary to make it fun to plow through the constant groups of enemies that the game places in front of you rather than making killing them off a massive chore. Sonic '06 is honestly best played by avoiding all of the enemies except those you absolutely have to kill since combat is such a clunky pain in the ass.

3. There aren't saves/checkpoints between parts of a level (except for boss battles for the most part). This wasn't a problem in older sonic games where you'd spend 5ish minutes in a level, tops. It becomes a problem when you fuck up after having played a given level for 15-20 minutes.

4. Silver needs a lot more polish (but this is more of a bug than bad design). His grab radius should be much larger so it's easier to pick up projectiles, etc.

5. Level difficulty is all over the goddamn place. This is more due to the fact that each main playable character plays through them in a different order, but more really should have been done to make the game scale up in difficulty through progression.

I don't know how to break this to you but most people don't do those gigantic sequence breaks. The levels should be fun without sequence breaks. The webms you've been posting only look fun if you're specifically only looking to sequence break.

Maybe have Aaron take on a different position in the future, like brainstorming or something

Because they want Sonic to be GOTTA GO FAST and nothing else, that's why you have modern games devoid of soul and passion. Sonic Adventure 2 had an amazing story and gameplay, I wish they would make a 3rd.
>inb4 Sonic 06

seriously, is there something that this hack made that it is not shit?

>Stop watching hentai and look up a goddamn Disney, Pixar or even Dreamworks animation sometime.
>Any of that looks anywhere like Sonic was between SA2, ShTH, 06, Black Knight or Secret Rings.

And I have no idea why you mentioned porn you degenerate autist.

Attached: 1501029171846.png (500x384, 222K)

At the very least make the stages as long as Unleashed day stages. Bring back character upgradeable item skills (light shoes, bouncing bracelet, etc.). Make super dash an item skill that depletes rings. More vertical stages. Grind mechanics. Make the enemies actually do shit.

fix'd

Attached: 1554738801841.png (420x420, 72K)

Sonic doesn't work. It's not supposed to work. the Sega Genesis games worked because Sonic Team caught lightning in a bottle.

yes. the "self-aware" card worked the first few times, but now it is just getting sad and desperate. they need to take things serious.

Not at all. The memes helped the brand, and he's been the one majorly pushing for the animated stuff and merch.

>1. Most of the platforming takes place over bottomless pits.
Which has been a problem ever since SA1, which I agree needs to be fixed. It's even persisted to Lost World, where learning how to parkour for the first time literally is a do or die situation.

>Combat is executed horribly. New moves or controls would be necessary to make it fun to plow through the constant groups of enemies that the game places in front of you rather than making killing them off a massive chore.
Or, just make them have no fucking health, which t.b.h I kinda forgot that was like that in Sonic 06. From Heroes to Unleashed they kept that fucking retarded health system than I'm honestly glad they stopped doing that shit now.

>3. There aren't saves/checkpoints between parts of a level (except for boss battles for the most part). This wasn't a problem in older sonic games where you'd spend 5ish minutes in a level, tops. It becomes a problem when you fuck up after having played a given level for 15-20 minutes.
I don't really remember it being that bad but since you've seem to have played it in recent time than I have, I'll assume you're right and also agree that's bad design

>Silver needs a lot more polish
Basically what I wanted

>5. Level difficulty is all over the goddamn place. This is more due to the fact that each main playable character plays through them in a different order, but more really should have been done to make the game scale up in difficulty through progression.

Also agree. For me what I can appreciate about 06 is how the environments for once felt like a real livable space Sonic can run around in, but you're right the structure of it all still needs more work to fine tune and not just polish what's there.

>does not feel like unity shitware
no, it feels worse. Sonic's default run speed is too slow, spindash is ass, Sonic always decelerates to his default run speed, levels are glitchy and finicky, and loops are barely functional without boost pads.

>Unleashed Night Levels, Black Knight and Secret rings could've been their own stand-alones without sonic with a few game play tweaks.

>I don't know how to break this to you but most people don't do those gigantic sequence breaks.
And? That's not the problem of the game. Casual play = learning the game, every fucking game works like this. There's no point pressing start on the title screen grants instant FUN juice, not one game, ever. If just playing the game poorly is what you want, fuck off and stop making Sonic games causal garbage.

And I'm not posting those webms you fucking retard, I stated in that post that wasn't me but it's exactly SA1 gameplay but polished.

Shadow is maximum kino. Using his air kick to halt all vertical momentum to avoid a lava puit while the sliding door opens makes me firm.

Not true dipshit, no matter how many times you say it.

>Sonic doesn't work
>But when on Genesis it works

Attached: wake-up-and-smell-the-hummus.jpg (600x600, 27K)

Then why are those webms good?

Ah yes, there goes Rotor-Poster, putting Iizuka on the same level as hitler when it comes to the Sonic series. You know why we took the piss out of him so much in the Mania threads? We were memeing. He is the only one on the team who even still has a semblence of care for the franchise left, he's just a bit clumsy sometines. Basically what I'm saying is, you've turned him into quite a boogeyman.

>and loops are barely functional without boost pads.
Only retarded part in your post.

Keep being retarded.

>Sonic is a better drama than all of Disney's catalogue

>>Sonic is a better drama than all of Disney's catalogue
When the fuck did I ever said that literate retard? I said Disney stuff is nothing like Sonic, and Disney stuff WOULD be better than mid 2000s era Sonic, but they aren't the same is what I was talking about. Disney's "Drama" is barely a conflict, just a ploy for story narration.

SEGA weren't the right people.

>You can barely get over the first loop in Emerald Coast because Sonic moves so slow and spindash sucks
In SA1 or?... Because that game automates that crap, while at least in that guys webm, you can clearly make loop effortlessly with enough speed... like the classics. And this isn't even exclusive to that fangame, as many others proven themselves it can be done without script kiddie bullshit.

Take care of it user.

retard. there are no good boostshit "
games"

Attached: [boostshit] colors sharp turn.webm (1173x785, 2.42M)

You're delusional if you think Sonic wasn't already being laughed at prior to the twitter account.

So his statement is even more true. Was that your point?

Go back to ball physics and momentum instead of autistic "gotta go fast" memes.

I've played 30fps all my life. I've never had an issue with it. Why does this look so terrible?

I agree with this, except for the "Like Colors" part.

This is correct, but if Sonic Team wants to stick with boost gameplay then they should do it right.

Colors/Generations era had still some kind of diginity to the series. It all went downhill when Lost World came in.

Adventure 3 with Sonic, Tails, Knucks, Shadow, Silver, and Big

because that's running at like 15fps
you can literally count the amount of frames by looking at the timer's centiseconds, and see how many updates it gets per second

Then thats Sonic Team's fault, which has next to nothing to do with the twitter account.

the twitter account thing came right after LW, with the whole Boom thing

>I said Disney stuff is nothing like Sonic, and Disney stuff WOULD be better than mid 2000s era Sonic,
Woah now, slow down there buddy. You said only the first, and thus either failed to specify what you 'reaaly' meant or are backtracking for dignity's sake.

>...but they aren't the same is what I was talking about. Disney's "Drama" is barely a conflict, just a ploy for story narration.
And then you went ahead and reitirated everything you claimed to not say. Nice work.

Now, just a few pointers for your next reply should you continue, since you appear to be learning:
1. Think your posts out thoroughly. No need to rush.
2. There's more to the world than Sonic the Hedgehog.
3. Give your mother a nice hug if your angry attitude keeps fogging your rational thought.

Attached: 1552337138814.jpg (390x398, 135K)

The problem I have is without guard rails you easily fly off the loop

Original post Your reply >Meaning of my next post; Disney's "drama" is not like mid 2000s era Sonic at all, and never stated I WANTED mid 2000s Sonic, can making a Disney comparison was retarded
>Your latter posts proves you're just retarded

There, hope that clears it up to you. Storys = cartoons never work unless you make it about humans if you're going by the retarded comparison to Disney. If it's about shit like Cars, or Minions, or some other cartoon "thing" that isn't a human, they never work under a serious tone like ShTH or 06 was. Because it doesn't fucking work, namely in America's audience. S3K and SA1 is the mid point the series should ever be tone wise, because it works.

If you're shit at controlling analog controls, yes but that's your brainlet problem.

And making them with guard rails isn't even a fault to do either, do it for casuals to learn how to start accurate and gg no re. Pro don't need them, casuals do, neither require automation for niggers that can't play games right.

Attached: 1510513490851.png (574x417, 187K)

Sonic Team made Emerald Coast.

I disagree with him but I'd play nu-sonic

>give Sonic spin dash abuse like in SA1
Why do people give Generations shit for this with Classic Sonic yet give SA1 a free pass?

boost is brain dead
spin dash abuse is for players with innovation and want a controlled speed

has nothing to do with being shit since they're perfectly fine in Utopia and Islands. Regardless, the possibility of falling out of a loop shouldn't even exist.

I don't know. The spindash worked best in SA2 where you to hold it to charge.

He was talking about Classic Sonic, in Generations you could abuse the Spin Dash in the same vein as in SA1

>Forces at C and not at F

lol

>drama only works if you make it about humans
Welp, I've had enough autism for one day. It's been fun talking.

And just to humor you, every other Disney/Pixar film "involves humans."

Im all for that, but if its a 3D game and the stage has a lot more flexibility when it comes to where you can go with your spin dash, then I want to be able to exploit for my enjoyment

>Walking back for a couple seconds and then running into the loop takes skill
Again please be shitposting

calm your autism. It has nothing to do with going fast enough. In 3D, if you don't thread the line perfectly you can easily fly out the side of a loop, and in Adventure Blast this is a pretty big issue when trying to play stages like Emerald Coast that have thin loops that were designed with automation in mind. That's inherent when you add a third dimension.

This

remake sonic 06 well to restore confidence in the brand

>then I want to be able to exploit for my enjoyment
That's bad game design to just casualize skill like that. Just make it where parkouring adds more speed or something so it takes skill to master but normalfags just can do it when they press start on the title screen

Then play temple run if you want the game to play itself retard

> if you don't thread the line perfectly you can easily fly out the side of a loop
So what's the issue if you did? This means more vertical speed for reaching higher level design, or if you messed up on the way down, tough shit get gid. If the idea of not making it, where if you do it corrently you get more speed coming out then you would have just ignoring it, then what's the downside? Unless you expect Heroes level design where everything is over a void, that's your fault for being retarded. Real professional level designs would have a proper level design so taking loops and failing them doesn't equal death. only retarded devs like Sonic Team or Game Freak would make retarded designs like this.

Samefag.

Samefagging or actual opinion? because I could be down for this if they fixed Silver and made a bigger difference between Sonic and Shadow.

Attached: shadowskate.gif (320x224, 88K)

>Then play temple run if you want the game to play itself retard
Thats not the argument you retard, the point is loops never took fucking skill so them being automated isn't a big deal they literally last 5 seconds.

>everyone who's not on my side is a samefag
what is the deal with this logic?

Modern is inherently busted without an overhaul anyways.

>Thats not the argument you retard, the point is loops never took fucking skill
Modernnigger detected. Not my problem you weren't around in the 90s

>what is the deal with this logic?
Because only the same person can truly be this retarded about game design. If any of this shit was bad, or needed like automation, why is every game that doesn't follow that shitty idea like Sumo or Traveler's Tales, or every fan game ever, work so well without those 20 year old shortcuts? And every game that featured them all got bashed on years later?

Dissolve Sonic Team and make a new one with competent people on the steering wheel this time.

>Modernnigger detected. Not my problem you weren't around in the 90s
Nice non argument. Also stop projecting you underage era faggot. The Classics are my favorite and I've been playing them since they released but i'm not delusional enough to pretend loops being automated is a problem or that they ever took skill.

Literally take any obstacle based single player racing game and put sonic in it instead of a car

>Sonic 1 and 2
>Good Sonic games

Honestly not even shitposting I'd rather have this than more soulless boostshit. Just remove Elise/Blaze, remake Silver with momentum physics in mind, and give Sonic/Shadow their SA2 controls back and boom.

BWAM

Attached: 1554551855252.jpg (513x498, 78K)

It could work if they opted to give it the time it needed this time, and reworked the plot.
Sonic 06 had good ideas, but was rushed as fuck in a misguided attempt for Sega to have a Sonic game for the holidays and everything just went downhill from there.

Attached: 143.jpg (400x400, 65K)

>t i'm not delusional enough to pretend loops being automated is a problem or that they ever took skill.
You are you fucking idiot. How can you avidly support forced diction of how you play a game in a 3D environment?

>or that they ever took skill.
Nice shitpost cause you didn't just play any genesis Sonic going through the loop without enough speed one just to realize you need enough speed to make them and get rewarded more speed using them. Fuck off, only people that understand Sonic gameplay should be actually discussing it.

I wasn't meming either. And I wouldn't remove anything, really, at least as far as the characters go.

Hell you could give Blaze more to do this time if only to shake things up

Wait, he deleted his video? What changed? Did Sonic Mania completely blow him the fuck out or did he get some bants all of a sudden?

It needs to be a coming-of-age story for Silver, like Nero's story in DMC5.

Attached: silverthehedgehog.png (600x900, 982K)

It's heavily implied he was lurking a thread about it and pretty much got bullied into deleting it.

What a pussy, holy shit. I want more details though, it sounds juicy.

Is Sonic Rush even good? That's the only one I haven't played in the A unbiased section.

>How can you avidly support forced diction of how you play a game in a 3D environment?
Because its a 5 second loop for spectacle nothing more nothing less its made to take you from one set piece to the other.
>Nice shitpost cause you didn't just play any genesis Sonic going through the loop without enough speed one just to realize you need enough speed to make them and get rewarded more speed using them.
kek you have to be shitposting I can tell you for sure i've played the classics more than you ever have. Getting the speed to go through the loop takes no skill and is not rewarding in the slightest. Its purely spectacle like the 3D and can look cool for sure.

I still have the old thread where it all went down.
Have fun I suppose. boards.fireden.net/v/thread/445117342/

Attached: low poly.jpg (1280x720, 72K)

>Fuck off, only people that understand Sonic gameplay should be actually discussing it.
t. underage faggot that watched a faggot e-celeb talk about Sonic's gameplay for 30 minutes and now thinks he is a professional game designer

>Because its a 5 second loop for spectacle nothing more nothing less its made to take you from one set piece to the othe
Retarded. I already stated it gives you more chances for 3D exploration if used as a ramp you fucking autist

Also you brainlets never think of the possibility of other loop types that take you in a cave system or S tubes, which would be more difficult to take these paths without losing speed in some way, while with loops it gives you more speed taking them, or if you're clever, you can explore vertically for hidden secrets using them as a ramo

Anyone that actively limits gameplay needs to kill themselves, fuck this casualized generation.

Nice projecting, I never looked at Egorator's cancer for opinions for shit he sucks at playing like fucking Zelda of all things.

>So what's the issue if you did? This means more vertical speed for reaching higher level design, or if you messed up on the way down, tough shit get gid.
Loops are supposed to be fun and effortless. Forcing a third dimension into the equation and just saying "fuck it, just let players fall out" isn't good design.
>b-but git g-g-gud
not an argument. it's unnecessary complexity to something that's supposed to be simple and effortless.

>If the idea of not making it, where if you do it corrently you get more speed coming out then you would have just ignoring it, then what's the downside?
The problem is it makes it frustrating to control and not fun. Loops are not meant to be some skill based obstacle. They're purely meant for spectacle and shouldn't require anything more complex than the player running at it with enough speed.

Exactly. I was thinking you could even make a reverse of his first boss fight, where you fight play as Silver trying to get the better of Sonic while inwardly acknowledging how out of his league he is.

Hell, you could even make Elise work by removing all the romance shit and just having her admire how free spirited Sonic is compared to her sheltered royal life.

youtube.com/watch?v=LhNK4QWxFnE
Why do Sonic games always have such a good soundtrack but without fail end up being mediocre?

>fuck this casualized generation.
Sonic is one of the most casualized platformers of all time. None of the classics come even close to being "hard" and you can autopilot 90% of the time thanks to the ring system and the lack of real platforming.

>change to side-scrolling platforming
>get rid of 3d graphics in favor of sprites
>remove all mechanics except for running, jumping, and spinning
>storyline is too complicated, simplify it and only convey it visually, no cutscenes or dialogue
>more synthesized music rather than real instruments
>remove all checkpoints and saves and replace it with a lives system: restarting every 4 failures and only beating the game in one go encourages mastery of the game and increases total game length

>Retarded. I already stated it gives you more chances for 3D exploration if used as a ramp you fucking autist
Doesn't help any when it comes at the cost of making it's intended function needlessly prone to error.

>Anyone that actively limits gameplay needs to kill themselves, fuck this casualized generation.
>Nice projecting, I never looked at Egorator's cancer for opinions for shit he sucks at playing like fucking Zelda of all things.
You're definitely underage. Or extremely autistic.

>change to side-scrolling only
>not a low IQ opinion.
Pick one. OT: Just make Sonic Adventure 3 for God's sake, and make Chao raising via a phone app.

Mean Bean Machine is the best Puyo Puyo game ever made and if it's in anything less than A-tier, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Alright, I will stop it and ease off myself then. I admit that I'm not the best at complaining, and I'm sorry for using Iizuka as the boogeyman (even though I already pointed the other culprits on my original post). That wasn't my intention. I did read the opinion and the responses of others, and my opinions will remain the same, but I will take in my mind of what others said to me.

Again, apologizes if I came off as an asshole.

Attached: Rotes's response to if he will ever find a good loving handsome boyfriend for him.png (372x503, 407K)

>Loops are supposed to be fun and effortless.
And they are in 3D see . How is that hard in any way? If you suck so badly, the devs could even make them wider so you have even less excuse to be so god damn shitty at games. Again, unlike a scripted or 2D loop, you can actual use them for vertical acceleration and explore higher level design, said design like in Sonic Robo Blast 2. Theo only thing a scripted loop does it waste fucking time. I could go through a scripted 5 sec loop in 1 sec with proper momentum, and gain more speed from it without some fucking dash panel in front of it, AND I could have more 3D freedom if done my way, which makes for better 3D game design. So again, stop being retarded at actually make 3D Sonic better than the garbage we had for 20 years and counting.

>Sonic is one of the most casualized platformers of all time.
False narrtive. It ain't no Contra or Dark Souls, but since all zoomers can't even fucking get through loops right or not cry like autistic bitches when taking any for of damage, proves this generation is far more shitty and casual than the 90s era of "casualized" gameplay.

>Doesn't help any when it comes at the cost of making it's intended function needlessly prone to error.
How is gaining more speed both horizontally AND vertically worse than just horizontal boost in speed? Again, read above and STOP BEING SHIT AT FUCKING VIDEO GAMES YOU FUCKING ZOOMER FAGGOTS.

Attached: SonicUtopia2.webm (480x270, 2.79M)

>but since all zoomers can't even fucking get through loops right or not cry like autistic bitches when taking any for of damage, proves this generation is far more shitty and casual than the 90s era of "casualized" gameplay.
Based underage thinking everything he sees on the internet is reality.
This is absolute bullshit and most kids can easily beat the original Sonic games. What you see on the internet is a very loud minority.

Attached: SonicManiaPlusMegaDrive.png (959x671, 37K)

>And they are in 3D see . How is that hard in any way?
I already said here that without guard rails it's easy to fall out and here that I had no problem with them in Utopia or Islands. My complaints were purely for Adventure Blast and how it functions in comparison, and even then I admitted here that this was primarily an issue when playing on Emerald Coast. Now you're backpedaling trying to post examples that I already said weren't a problem for me and dragging this argument outside of Adventure Blast while trying to score internet points throwing trendy buzzwords at everyone like a chimp.

>How is gaining more speed both horizontally AND vertically worse than just horizontal boost in speed?
It's worse because the primary function of just running through the loop becomes prone to error which should not be a thing.

>that without guard rails it's easy to fall out
and here I see there's a solution for both shitters like yourself and nonshitters like myself that can use them as ramps and other speed based exploits.

I'm not going to address anything else because everything else is something only normalfags that doesn't know how to play games comlain about or do shit like , making a fool of themselves.

Other Youtubers complained about Adventure Blast Emerald Coast.

>the primary function of just running through the loop
Because in 2D that's how that works idiot. Even 3D Mario doesn't have easy things like riding Yoshi as simple as it was in 2D. Just accept you don't play games enough to understand how to make them good.

If it's only an Adventure Blast issue, don't make it seem like all 3D Sonic would be fucked this way cuz then you're admitting 3D Sonic was never good.

You don't need to give me a 'solution' when my only complaints are directed solely at Adventure Blast.

>I'm not going to address anything else
>"I don't have an argument but I'm gonna still pretend like i 'won' the argument"

Fuck are you talking about? That's what I'm saying. In 2D there doesn't exist the issue of potentially falling out of the side of a loop like in 3D, and it shouldn't be a thing in 3D.

ALL I FUCKING SAID was it's an issue in Adventure Blast! Stop trying to put words in my mouth

I can't beat Sky Canyon

>In 2D there doesn't exist the issue of potentially falling out of the side of a loop like in 3D,
Because it's not a fucking issue. Just git gud and focus on stay straight like any and every game you've played ever. Do you seriously swerve left and right like a spastic idiot when playing Adventure 2 or even the boost games? How hard is it to fucking hold up on the analog stick?

>didn't even read the part where I said my issue was with Adventure Blast.

I don't care who I'm talking to. My argument only relates to Adventure Blast, and even then I admitted that it was only a problem with one level and now everyone's trying to argue shit I wasn't even complaining about

>BTFOs grinchies and classicfags
based gamexplain

You do realize GameXplain also loved Mania, right? I wouldn't say this is directed at classicfags, at least not intentionally. Unless you mean the 'other' kind of classicfags who hate anything 3D.

Should I watch this?

You DO know Stealth created Sonic Mega Mix right? You know, the game that had Shadow in it right?

Or how Taxman stated he liked SA1? Try again retard.

>Sonic Mega Mix
Memories. Also you just made me remember Tweaker. Whatever happened to him after the pedo incident?

Do for Sonic adventure style what Mania did for classic style. Have levels designed like the prototype windy valley in SA1's pre-releases, sorta bringing classic design goals into 3D, with diverging paths and what not.
Sadly it's up to sega to figure out how to do this, since there's not as many 3D sonic fangame makers as there are classic ones, and many of the 3D guys can't ever agree on what works.

I don't know, really. I think he's still doing stuff on the web, but he's definitely shunned by pretty much everyone, especially Retro.

Wow, you just ruined Sonic.

Dumb animeposter. The only thing wrong in that post is keeping boostshit. Classic should stay with the Mania team and no one else.

Kinda sad really. Ended up burning so many bridges in the community, just like the Sonic 2 HD DRM guy

At least they're attempting to resurrect MegaMix in the form of a Mania mod.

Aren't his arms blue?

I mean, that's how it was in the original romhack.

Sonic and the Black Knight is a weirdass phenomenon
>Released on a shitty barely current gen console at the time
>premise looks ridiculous as helll
>gameplay looks and feels mediocre almost shovelware
>Very good soundtrack
>easily the best story in a sonic game released that decade

No matter how perfect the talent any dev is, homing attack in 2D is the shittiest thing ever. There's literally no point other than "liking it" There's no point functionally.

Well, I feel like that's why they added Mighty, for people who don't want that. Cause he pretty much plays like Sonic 3 Sonic, Insta-shield and shield abilities.

IIRC there's five playable characters in Megamix: Sonic, Mighty, Shadow, Tails and Knuckles
Sonic has the Homing Attack and the Light Speed Dash
Mighty has Sonic's S3K moveset, as well as the ability to "store" elemental shields and use them on the fly
Tails and Knuckles play like they do in 3&K
...I can't remember how Shadow played

No. Boostshit plays fine. The problem is the level design, not the gameplay. Generations and come of the stages in Colors showed this.

Havok physics

Shadow has a homing attack too, but instead of a light speed dash he can double jump and do a quick boost of acceleration for 5 rings.

Unironically make him slower. I'm sure there's a way to give off the "illusion" of high speed without having to make Sonic so fast that he can tear through levels that are literally several miles long in seconds

>Boostshit plays fine.
Boost doesn't play like anything its literally a movie that every once in awhile turns into a shitty 2D platformer.

>dude lets have an extra 4 acts that are like 30-50 seconds long and all 2D and boring as fuck
Colors was terrible because of the extra levels.

Speed should be a reward, not a constant.

Your reward is surviving that speed in modern games.

But thats not a challenge the levels are literal hallways and they take away that speed in the 2D sections where the platforming actually happens. And don't even bring up the lower paths they mean jackshit at most they are a 5 second detour.

So how easily did you beat Eggmanland in Unleashed?

The only hard parts of that level are the Werehog sections. The boost sections is the breather inbetween those.

G.U.N. and all the humans and shit do not belong in Sonic. It's just weird.
It's okay to raise the stakes, but Sonic doesn't need all of that shit.

sir, the problem is that the loops in emeral coast are twisted. you can't just hold forward, you need to tilt the control stick SLIGHTLY to the right pro tip, use free cam in these sections to keep sonic straight

the skill ceiling for this game is very high, but it's not retarded hard. I have 3 hours total playtime and am able to make these moves, granted, in the first hour i sucked.

Super Sonic Oddessy

The sword game is like 15 years old at this point it's not modern by any definition of the word.
If you're autistic and are talking about the design it's already perfect.

Yeah I'll take a few short, gimmicky acts in each world over them slapping in a bunch of shitty play-styles and padding.

You are why Sonic games are a slog. Because you bitch that they aren't long enough when Sonic from the start was short and sweet. So they have to shove in as many play-styles and stupid shit as possible.

This is why Mania was so well received. It knows what it is. It's a short and sweet game that people replay anyway because it feels good to fucking play. Replaying the levels, finding emeralds, experimenting with different characters is all fucking fun. It doesn't need to waste your time and shove shit down your throat. Modern Sonic has lost this.

I'm gonna use a ten dollar word for why Sonic games are so blah. Classic games had simple controls that overlapped. Rolling, jumping, speeding, sometimes all at once, and it could lead to some results that weren't anticipated, but the level design may have just enough to make it exhilirating, and never to trick the player into jumping right into an enemy they can't kill.

Modern games are boost or drift or jump or somethin else like mini-games disguised as mechanics or gimmicks. Compartmentalization. And it got even worse with Sonic Lost World, and even worse with Sonic Forces. There ya go.

Attached: Hey.png (700x790, 122K)

>The problem is the level design
If the boost formula stays in its current state and you make more open, exploratory level design that isn't just a series of glorified hallways, then what will inevitably happen is that the player will boost over the entire stage in 30 seconds since the developers had to spend time make a more detailed level than usual and thus couldn't make it as stretched out as it usually is to compensate for the player constantly going fast, which is what you do in Modern Sonic games for the most part. (Yes that was a ridiculous run on sentence, but you get my point.) So, no, the problem isn't just level design. The simplified 3D level design and over-abundance of 2D sections are symptoms of a larger problem, and they always have been. People need to realize that the boost is fundamentally flawed and no amount of polish or improved level design will fix that. We're talking about bringing this hypothetical game up from a C+ to a B-, at best here. But you know what? I even agree with you. Boostshit IS "fine", but is that all you want your Sonic games to be? "Fine?" How about "great?" Or even "fantastic?" See, this type of complacency is why the series is stagnating so much from a gameplay standpoint.

You can argue and autistically screech about this or that problem with the series, but at the end of the day, as long as people are okay with "okay" Sonic games, that's all we'll get. I wish more people understood this.

>condescendingly talking down to a billion dollar company
why do people do this?

>Has Ken
Yes, yes he has.

That's the problem I've noticed the most with the sonic fandom, they just put up with mediocrity so much nowadays. Why? Why do sonic fans just accept something that is the bare minimum? Just because it's not another 06? That's a terrible reason to accept a game for what it is. I remember before 2008 and such, Sonic fans were always quick to point out Sonic Team's mis-steps and fuckups. Now they just don't even bother and just settle with it. Or are Sonic fans just afraid of looking like part of the problem if they actually call Sonic Team out for their bullshit? (afraid of looking like people like Chris Chan, Aknotholeresident, etc) Sonic fans gotta grow some skin and start criticizing more, especially the Forces defenders.

How sad.

i did leave, but some times i stick around

user if you still here, put on free cam for sections that require precision. it's ok if you die a couple times. eventually you'll master it, and it will feel satisfying to know that YOU did it, and not the game playing itself

cringe. really.

>Why? Why do sonic fans just accept something that is the bare minimum? Just because it's not another 06?
Yep this is why they defend garbage like Forces "haha atleast its not another 06 guys" even though its worse than 06 in alot of ways. They are so scared of getting another completely broken game they are okay with just eating mediocrity for eternity.

Make him faster on the uptake, if you catch my drift xD

>The sword game is like 15 years old

Pull the plug.

No wonder Forces is arguably the most automated game in the whole series, even Sonic Team is terrified of it breaking somehow.

Attached: 1547798658022.png (854x1335, 641K)

Like darkstalkers?

It's not easy for people to accept sucking at things and blaming the games instead of themselves, but I hope SEGA does do something like this again. The fact none of that automation stuff was planned in the beta windy valley level proves it was a technological limitation that only bogged the series down afterwards.

If necessary, yes.

>Ken Penders wanted to draw Sally losing her virginity to Geoffery despite her being underage and him an adult

yup. for instance, check out this (literal) nigger:
youtu.be/U0zCHn2smNQ?t=56

he gives up on that same loop and blames the game, it's absolutely insane how these people are the ones who control the game mechanics we end up getting.

going around a loop shouldn't be difficult. It's entirely the games fault

Most fans that say anything now grew up in medicory. SA2 is almost 20 years old now. At this point most people would have started from Heroes onward, and if SA2 is considered the best 3D Sonic has to offer?... Yeah, now you see why. Regardless how aged the Adventures are, they were working from a strength that had been cut short from Heroes onward. It's only reasonable that the 2 moments Sonic was "at his peak", 3K and SA2, that expectations just don't get overtaken when everytime Sonic Team pull an Unleashed, they mess it all up with things like the Werehog with it. Every high of Sonic get's counteracted with the worse low you can ever expect in a Sonic game. So now you rather just get "not shit" if it means keeping Sonic alive. For maybe 5 years of something like this, that's ok. But 20 years of this mentality? That's not helpful, it's destructive for the series' quality control.

Remember how he said Knuckles race eat their young and wanted to draw Knuckles's four penises? The dude is fucking crazy, imagine a reality where he and Chris-chan collaborated on a Sonic like story

loops are not difficult though. it's double/triple loops. seee the difference in difficulty:

easy: """hard""": (literally just turning on free cam and slightly turning the control stick forward+left/right)

This guy gets it

Attached: GUPE8P-2.png (1748x1080, 1.6M)

Sonic has literally always been shit

So why was there a fake Metal Sonic in forces over the real thing? Was that ever explained?

No, no it wasn't.

>easy:
easy because there's a guard rail. Like I said, I don't have a problem with loops in that stage

>"""hard""": (literally just turning on free cam and slightly turning the control stick forward+left/right)
still awkward to control and needlessly complicated thanks to the camera

Because
1: Whoever was making the story for Forces was retarded
2: There's no point to repairing and using the real one when you have a guy who can make perfect, tangible illusions and churn out thousands of them instantaneously at will

>Whoever was making the story for Forces was retarded
Same guy who wrote 06. So there ya go.

Make sonic adventure 3

More generations levels with unleashed-tier speed

>"Impossible! Your abilities far exceed your previous data!"
>"Unlike mechs, I can grow! I get more powerful every second!"
>"I will teach you to hold that tongue next time we meet. You can count on it!"

Is this the most Sonic dialogue ever?

Sonic was never bad. Even the worst Sonic game is a great game.

Except Free Riders.

Hear me out, Yea Forums: We turn 3D Sonic into a "collectathon."

The stages will be absolutely massive like in Mario Odyssey and filled with MacGuffins for Sonic to collect.
In order to get them, you need to use momentum to gain speed so you can reach certain points in the level. You'd need good reflexes, platforming skill and spatial awareness to get the most out of Sonic's speed and collect everything or make certain jumps. If you want to get through that loop, you'd need to build up enough speed to overcome gravity, there will be no boost pads to help you and make it a short cutscene of sorts.
The open levels will be filled with different paths for you to take and vantage points to help you see how to best get from point A to B.
Certain moves like the homing attack will require Sonic to reach a certain level of speed to use properly. Moves like the Drop and Spin Dashes can be used to give Sonic some initial speed and help maintain momentum.

You could even have other playable characters go through the same stages with different abilities and movement options for extra content.

>We turn 3D Sonic into a "collectathon."
Stopped reading there, fuck off

It time to boycott team sonic racing because sticks the badger, cream the rabbit, chaos zero, and the Babylon rogues are not playable. Hyrule warriors was better than sonic and the black knight.

Reminder that Forces is the one time Sonic actually made a death threat to someone with his exchange with Infinite.

>dude just copy Mario lmao
No thanks, I like good games

It really isn't that big a deal, and there's always the possibility of DLC

Attached: 1553320054722.jpg (840x950, 200K)

Did Infinite kill more people than Eggman?

Never explained but I think Eggman wanted to test the power of the phantom ruby. If it can make near perfect clones of the original, why make more with real machinery himself?

>humans and shit do not belong in Sonic
Explain Eggman then

>sticks the badger, cream the rabbit, chaos zero, and the Babylon rogues are not playable.
Good, they are all shit characters. It's bad enough they forced Red Bowser in the game, we don't need even more shitters in the game.

He deosn't because he's just wrong anyways. Unleashed's Humans has how they always should have been, what he meant was fuck G.U.N and fuck the US President. Any game about America is trash. Even the worse level in Unleashed which was based on New York was actually rushed in at the last minute for the game. Proving the USA is the worse part about Sonic.

Use Sonic Advance 2's Boost mechanic

I at least think the Babylon Rogues could make for a good additional team and that them excluding Cream can lead to another creative team being in if they wanted to

>USA is the worse part about sonic
>when sonic 2 exists
ok retard

>American team basically just does some of the graphics
>Japanese team does all the programming, music composition, and all the hard work
>"Murrica totally made sonic 2 guise"

>without Big
>without
Holy shit, you are fucking gay

>Sega of America makes the game
>NOOO ITS JAPAN BECAUSE JAPANESE PEOPLE WERE A PART OF SEGA OF AMERICA
ok retard

This right here. It's not about if Americans do it or if Japan does it, every game that BASE the game around America is trash for Sonic. The best games center most on natural landscapes or foreign lands, and the only time cities is if they are futuristic or look like it like Casino Night. Grey nasty US buildings look like shit.

are you the dude at sega that keeps telling these retards that green hill needs to always and forever be the first stage in literally every fucking sonic game from generations onward go fuck yourself

Where did anywhere in that post claimed I wanted nothing but green hill spam you fucking autist?

Make unleashed 2 or remaster sonic 06 and take out the bugs. Unleashed and 06 are the only good modern games. What a soulless era with garbage level design, 2D, and zone rehashes its all been. Is it really so fucking much to ask for a fully or mostly 3D adventure with new themes, new music, and a story thats not afraid to have a villain, super sonic ending, and replay value

Attached: 1376276027046.jpg (225x350, 27K)

Yea, I dont want to play more of the worst fishing minigame ever concieved in a Sonic game, big shocker.
